preserves jar will basically take one of your crops and turn it into a jam or a pickled vegetable. they only require some basic materials to make and you get the crafting recipe fairly early on (although idk exactly when you get the recipe, you could google it). it takes 2ish days to make the jam or pickled veggie, and it increases the profit by a fairly significant amount

don't worry about kegs for now, you wont get the crafting recipe until farming level 8 (i think). focus on getting a few preserves jars once you unlock the recipe, and set aside a little bit of every harvest to put in the jars

Well, for newer folks here I just give the general advice to throw stuff into kegs from the most expensive produce first, and work their way down

The reality is that from the early- to mid-game, you have way, way, waaaay more crops than you have machines to process them

If you have 4 kegs, 4 preserves jars, and like 120 pumpkins + 240 cranberries, it is technically better to save all the cranberries for the jars and all the pumpkins for the kegs, but the difference is going to be a wash in the end

oh yes, in town sunfish and smallmouth bass are the only 2 fish that spawn during the day when its not raining

there is a brief 1 in-game hour window where there's 3 fish available

You can quickly do the math on this: selling all 15 parsnip seeds is 150g, enough for 3 potato seeds. In order for this to be worth it the g/day for potatoes has to be at least 5x the g/day for parsnips. Since the numbers are 8.33 and 3.75 respectively, the tradeoff isn't worth it.
