Stardew does draw inspiration from Harvest Moon, yeah. You can mod the game on PC, but Android modding is a bit scuffed at the moment due to the recent update breaking things. Come on over to #modded-stardew if you want to give it a try, regardless!

One of the items is only accessible in the second year unless you are lucky enough to get it from a certain shop. The option guarantees you get the item in that shop in the first year. Just don’t worry about it and play at your own pace
