It's considerably tougher than the regular mines. It's a learned skill.

you want to go on good luck days, have good healing food, speed buffs so you can just outrun monsters. Get as deep as you can quickly for more iridium, use bombs to find ladders quicker. Pause the game a lot as well to give yourself more time to process the current floor, and move items around for easier healing, instead of fumbling your hot bar while under attack
