I originally switched because of this type of error, but stayed with the other benefits despite the fact my original reason for switching didn't get fixed
It was a pretty freaking clever hack they did though, afaik at the time communication between players wasn't nearly so easy to do
I do miss MultiplayerTime's UI to show who is wanting to pause or not

I use auto calculated pause from mass menu, along with host veto
I added the vote because a lot of people messaged me about it, but I had a hard time imagining when people would actually use it
Some players are not as cooperative, and there are publish-ish SDV servers too

I generally only use the host veto functionality if some issue is preventing the auto one, as it does feel a bit cheaty as it doesn't pause player movement
Yeah, I thought about the option for enabling a lock feature there, but that felt like feature creep and at the end of the day, if players wanna "cheat" then go for it imo
Oh and one other thing, I'm pretty sure a JA issue was wreaking all sorts of havoc on the client at the time I posted those issues. It was supposedly just an item shuffle issue, but whe JA was updated and I manually mitigated the rest of the bug at the time, all sorts of wierd desync issues we had were fixed.
Like messed up cutscenes, corrupted textures and stuff

Part of the bug was that whenever clients disconnect and reconnect, they would get ja shuffled if a mod added clothing.
Specifically boots in RSV for us
I feel it went deeper than that though, not completely sure.
My favorite is when I would login to a whole chest's items being replaced by roe of those items lol

so this might be a constant one, but I have to ask, when I started using smapi my game is... crunchy? Like it runs much less optimally than it did just as the vanilla mod, so is there a way to fix that?

Oh I think I fixed it! I found that one of the mods came with something that altered some produce and that somehow effected the crate? It's back to normal now :) thank you though!

As for empty folder: You wrote in the other channel something about skipping something with .zip. Did you not unzip the mods before placing them in your mods folder?

Check the folder itself if it's empty or not. And yes: Redownload might help if anything went wrong with the download.

So your issue is you need to read the mod page. It says to download this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5450
but it says it's empty...
and copy the Haley mod's asset folder and overrite the haley folder in the mod above

because it's not a mod you put in the mods folder, you have to replace the original Seasonal Outfits files, i assume
So just copy the Haley mod's asset folder and put it into the folder that has the asset folder for the mod above and you should be good

It's easier to just take the whole assets folder from the Haley Mod and go to the Seasonal Outfits mod, find it's asset folder but do not go into it, and just paste the assets folder over the other one

Yeah bc mobile is still in 1.4 while the rest of the platforms are in 1.5
they basically have to get mods for Stardew 1.4
anything updated/released after December 2020 has a high probability of being for Stardew 1.5 or newer

well, it needs to be in the Mods folder and the Mods folder needs to be in the stardew valley game folder where smapi is installed. if you haven't played in a while you should probably update smapi and all mods too first

Can Free Love enable you to give bouquets to marriage candidates while you're married? I honestly forgot if it's possible, and I'm already married to Leah (even though I used the CJB Cheats Menu and CJB item spawner mods I wanna get 9+ hearts with everyone normally (hence why I have Free Love)

Yea, i've got some "skipped" mods that i don't get why it's happening.
so even with no mods it takes a few minutes for it to even open stardew after running smapi and then just freezes when i want to load a save

Skipped is usually because of duplicates or missing mod requirements
it's really strange though because one of them suggests a mod folder is empty. and i looked into that folder, and there's plenty files

Are you using a mod manager?
Might you know my issue if I tell you we went mining, level 16 was empty and didn't produce until we turned the mod off? The mod was working up until we tried mining.
Regarding the StayUp mod
red, how long do you need to start sdv? and did the new SMAPI/CP versions help?

The new SMAPI and CP most definitely helped, my computer's stopped crashing now 
I'd say about 10 minutes to load completely, and another 10 to load into a save?

Yeah, we don't recommend using it. Can lead to problems like what you're having. I've only known a few people who can use it without too much issue. I'd recommend just manually installing or using Peace's Stardrop manager which was made just for Stardew

@quartz folio There are some instances where you will need to use the compatibility version of the game. Please be aware that SMAPI/game mods are not compatible with this version.
On Steam: In your library, right-click Stardew Valley and select Properties... > Betas > then "compatibility" under the dropdown.
On GOG: From the game's page, click the settings icon > Manage installation > Configure... > then "compatibility" under the Beta channels dropdown.

hey! so i'm playing stardew with a bunch of mods, but for some reason every time i play this one day i get a black screen of death at the end and have to quit the game. i don't know if maybe it has something to do with reaching level 80 in the mines or something? trying to figure out how to upload log right now, it won't let me drag and drop the file for some reason :/
you can also navigate to the file via the choose a file link
that way you should be able to just double click it
how do i navigate in that menu? not sure how to get to the ~/.config/StardewValley/ErrorLogs from there
i guess it depends on the browser, but i guess try pressing ctrl+h while in ~
might not be possible though (i have a symlink to the log folder in a non-dot folder so that it's easily accessible from a browser)
did you try ctrl+h after opening the choose a file link and selecting the home folder?
yeah, crtl+h did nothing, cmd+h took me to the finder app instead of working in the popup

You have one content patcher pack that has an error, but I don't think that would be the issue. I notice that SVE is patching many of the same things. Maybe ask in the SVE discord to see if there's a compatibility issue?

Yeah finally found the issue in comments of the mod. It's not updated for 1.5 and not compatible with SVE. >.< so even if I got rid of SVE it wouldn't work. Anyone know any other good map retextures that are good? I want a less bright/saturated game.

IIRC, levels and professions are saved in your save file, so it'll stay even if your remove the cheat menu.

I think its cos the name with directories included is possibly too long for your computer to read it.
Hi everyone, my 9 year old has a problem with a modded stardew valley, which keeps on crashing when reading the Junimo note in the community center. The source is the Dutch language mod, but removing it, doesn't fix the problem and changing to English doesn't either, so the problem must have ended up in the configuration file. I have an Exception, but cannot see where that leads to in the configuration. If someone is willing to help me out to fix this, that would be awesome. Nice result would be to fix the Dutch mod if needed.

I'm playing on a modded co-op farm (I'm not the host). We're currently in year 5, 99% perfection. The host has 4 candles in Grandpa's Shrine but I don't have any. I have Raffadax Complete Production and the recently updated SVE. Some of the errors I'm getting are because some of the items have been duplicated. What can I do about that?

Hello! I'm trying to download mods for the first time through Vortex but SMAPI refuses to deploy. Vortex says it doesn't have access to my stardew folder but as far as I can tell nothing is blocking it and if i click give permission nothing happens- if i try to do it without vortex i get a different error message- anybody know what to do? ive tried everything i can think of and checked every modding page on the wiki

Not sure if this counts to post here but I believe so since I think it is an issue with free love. Said mod says I married my farmhand even though I didn't and this is preventing me from having children, but I cannot divorce them at the book in Lewis's house. Is there a way to undo said marriage inside my game files?

where did you get the dutch mod from?
It could well be that it has some conflict with more recent changes. I am going to try to add an issue to the project to see if they have an idea.
did you have the mod installed and set the language to dutch when creating the save?
No. Their mod is replacing the German language, Dutch is not an option in the game.
so you had the game in german/english when starting the save? (ie playing the first day)
We did with my daughters. The logs you saw was set to German from the beginning.

so i removed and deleted everything vortex related and im just trying to download SMAPI normally but i keep getting an error message that says "the installer failed with an unexpected exception" ive deleted and redownloaded SMAPI a bunch of times but the same thing keeps happening- i dont seem to have a SMAPI log either to show exactly what's going on

Installing SMAPI in admin mode is a bad idea and creates errors like this

All you need to do in decompress the file into your Stardew Valley folder! (The folder that the Mods folder is contained in.) You should be good to go from there! What do you mean it asks if you want to create files?

Oh... Regardless of what the mod author says, I wouldn't recommend Vortex for Stardew Valley, honestly.

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

back to launch options - they're there to tell Steam to launch the game via a different exe than the base one
i'd suggest running the installer again - the installer cleans up after itself so you can run it as many times as you like safely - and copy the launch option string from there

Hello all! 🙂 I just want to start by saying I'm really happy to be apart of the community now! And so I'm hoping some blessful soul can help me figure out this issue I've been having. I'm fairly new to modding still but I have gotten everything in almost perfect order except one small issue that actually turns out to be a big deal! For some reason, the game will run perfectly smooth for an extended period of time but then seemingly randomly, I will get these tiny, and I mean tiny 1-2 FPS drops that causes a stutter like effect. I have my smapi log here and I've tried looking through it but found nothing that I can see that would be causing it. I managed to get a video of it happening, although sadly its using my phones camera because xbox game bar wouldn't work with the game for some reason. Any help is so so appreciated 😭 I also don't think it's a single mod issue because I used to have this problem just by using the SMAPI API with no mods installed but then one day it vanished and now all the sudden it's back!

I... I feel bad because the scope of SVE makes it so that most players will choose it over other mods. I think SVE is really well made, I just wish it was more compatible with more things, so more people could experience these other great mods.

thought i'd try my luck asking for help, i used to play modded and because there was alot of bugs i had deleted the mods and smapi. have deleted all the game files manually on the steam app and now my game wont even open with vanilla :') when i open it no windows appear and it says app not responding. playing on mac btw! any help would be appreciated.
When this happened to me it was because I had accidentally moved one of the game's original content files. Try redownloading off Steam.
the smapi error handler is actually quite important as well. You can delete all the mods, but I'd have left smapi in until you managed to save a day unmodded.
oh wait, you're on mac. steam for mac doesn't require changing launch options in order to launch modded SDV my bad

i left the launch options empty already
And then reinstall SMAPI, none of the mods just SMAPI - error handler is important when uninstalling anything that adds stuff to your save!

You need to follow the instructions in that reset your content files link
And note that unless you plan to start a completely new save and never use your old saves again you will need to reinstall SMAPI and play at least one day with SMAPI so it can clear out modded content from your save

Looks like you don;t have PPJA or Boarding House Objects in your JA list
juniper and mint are from PPJA and pterodactyls are from Boarding House
yeah, juniper berry and mint are from PPJA fruits and veggies
might be called something other than Boarding House Objects but there should be a download somewhere on Boarding House's page with the eggs

i got that one mixed up with the mod for artisan valley to use the nuts you get from BH in the AV butter churn
the idea is you can hatch pterodactyls from eggs you find in part of the boarding house mines, and raise them to sell for money

hi! the past few days, i've been playing a modded co-op game (primarily with SVE*), and everything had been running smoothly until the other non-host player's marriage ceremony with sophia occurred (summer 27th). the night before, when the three us go to sleep, only the host wakes up, and me and the other player are stuck at waiting for players 2/3--no crashes, just stuck. the host can view the marriage ceremony and do things in the day, but upon closing the server and opening it back up, we're pushed back to the 26th. (the host and other player have also been getting steam "unable to sync to cloud" errors but i havent so idk the details)
we've been circumventing the loading issue by having the other player and i log out from the server and having the host sleep alone, then logging back in to continue playing. we're not sure what to make of the issue as the host and other player dont normally play modded, and i havent played consistently since before 1.4. i've been wanting to do more testing of the issue but the host is respectfully a bit stubborn and went on to play another game instead for the day. we might try again tomorrow

That's a transpiler helper; it shouldn't be doing anything at all if nothing uses it

at least that in the event me and my friends cant fix this, they'll be fine with it. they typically just go with "its fine until someone crashes" but i personally really want to see it solved lol

It means that the recent SVE update added items with the same name as other mods.
and they shouldn't be ignored, either wait for a fix or remove those items from one of the mods

Pathos backreads pings, so even if he’s busy he will get to it later. However, it’s possible he would ask for a log when he gets to it.

Ok. @tired brook I had a reproduceable error after updating the Automate mod to 1.27. I'll note this occurred on a game that was on 1.26, and then I moved it to 1.27. The error occurred, crashing Automate, when placing a new empty chest/empty preserves jar in a newly built shed (the third on the property; the previous two had been set to automation under the 1.26). The error is as follows:

which repeated indefinitely. I don't immediately have the full smapi log, because I did not save it before "rolling back" Automate, which fixed the problem. Does it still happen if you temporarily remove all mods except Automate (and any others you need for testing like CJB Cheats Menu / CJB Item Spawner) and try it on a new save? Can you post the SMAPI log if so?

Yeah, that's why I suggest creating a new save to test it.
If it happens with only Automate and a new save, it's a lot easier to look into.

That sounds like an antivirus issue to me
Try adding an excluding for the SDV folder, or just temporarily disable real time protection to test

Usually involves junking modded items. JA can handle the item's main ID, but any "preserve" such as jelly, wine, etc. will still get messed up.
