Has anyone had a problem with only some mods being picked up in the mods folder?
okay so, i was playing with the free love mod and wanted to divorce one of my spouses (Maru) and go back to playing vanilla with my main spouse (Abigail)
but, when i divorce Maru, her status appears as single, and not ex-wife, so i can't use the statue of memories! anyone knows why this happens?

check your free love config, I think theres a complex divorce thing Im not sure
if you have problems with mods not being picked up it means that they're either zipped or need to be reinstalled(no manifest probably)
so basically, if i turn it off, it should function normally, right?

I can see the manifest and it's not zipped. Should I just redownload it and move it again? Does it matter how deep the folder path goes? zippedFolderName>ModFolderName>Files vs ModFolderName>Files
for the most part it shouldnt matter how far the folder goes, but if the path is really long(most likely long names with numbers) smapi might not be able to find some assets
but smapi would give an error/warn if it couldnt find an asset so Im not sure what the problem is

TBH I bet its an audio device though, not a mod. If nothing shows up in the log, go to your windows sound settings and disable output devices that are not your headphones/speakers.

OK so the full path to where your error logs should be is This PC -> C -> Users -> [your username] -> turn on viewing hidden items in the View menu of file explorer -> AppData -> Roaming -> Stardew Valley

what command do I input to run an event?
I am playing coop. We both have Skull Cavern Elevator installed but it shows up with a "0" on her screen while it works fine on mine. Any ideas?

But an error log might help, especially from the client.
They don't get an error on SMAPI when they log in.

Try right clicking the download to unzip it instead of double clicking.
I've tried that, it doesnt show up as "unzip" only open, run as admin, compress to zip, copy as path and properties

like i went to sleep (when it says my acient fruit is gonna be grown in two days) and i wake up and check and it still says 2 days, and ive slept for a week and nothing is grown
Map changes are local, so there's no sync between host and client. Maps should still update for farmhands if the local tokens change though. If there's a map that's not correctly updating for farmhands, send me a minimal Mods folder + repro steps and I'll take a look.

any commands to run on host+farmhand when weird token desync issues / wrong EditImage/EditMap patches occur to make your life easier?
A common one I've seen is most event based map changes like SVE Aurora Vineyard, RSV Minecarts, Grandpa's Shed and others don't sync to farmhands and a bunch of reconnects are needed (extra painful in large modpacks)
and in SVE occasionally farmhands see the Community Centre as the comically wrong texture like the sprite offset got corrupted and its just showing 2/3 of the community centre, joja warehouse and I think maybe some of the movie theatre, my memory may be off though
Market Day and its dependencies alone are the smallest repro Ive seen
Ideally we should look into why they're not updating correctly, before we look for workarounds. There's no reported issue for that yet though.

How do I get the date night mod to use the right portrait at the end of certain dates (I assume all the suggestive endings but I've only seen one) not the base game vanilla one?

the door does work in the correct spot, its purely decoratively broken
My guess would be that it's related to the weird way multiplayer sync works, where farmhands have an entire shadow copy of the world that doesn't match the host's world, and then those locations are ignored and the farmhand fetches the location from the host. So if an asset changes which affects a location that's not currently being sync'd, it might update their shadow world instead.
host seems to always see it correct, and only farmhands see it broken, but its inconsistently broken
Repro is real simple
- jump to friday
- get a client to connect
- sleep
go to market day, just to make sure everything looks correct for the client as it should
- sleep
Then the stalls will be left over for the client, but not the host

I am running CP beta, it goes back a few CP versions
most large mods like SVE previously just said MP didn't work at all, and its now it mostly works but decorative stuff like this goes wrong
MP megamodding is the new frontier.
SVE's warp quests very reliably trigger it too
None of the... 8 warps, i think, worked correctly
even stuff like SVE exclusive locations doing special orders have problems where the collection box doesn't show up for farmhands

Host restart fixed it as always
I had the grandpa shed one yesterday, I vaguely remember other special orders that only SVE would have done which had similiar problems, I just cant remember any but grandpa shed
Apples suffered from the same issue
In Aurora Vinyard
Client saw me phase right through debris because the map didnt change
And they didnt get the collection box until a host restart
Vanilla stuff does work though, like when the parrots repair the restort
I had a wild desync with Aurora where I (farmhand) was still in the rundown cellar which was empty, while Host had the repaired cellar full of casks, and I simply didn't see any of the casks
I think they were different maps entirely, so my out of date tokens or whatever let me go to a different map than host
Its nearly impossible to avoid too, as sometimes it happens mid quest
Vanilla stuff is usually handled in resetonplayerentry
SVE would be great to repro it tbh, I just dont know the quest ids or anything like that

Alright! Here's some quick instructions to do with as you want.
To download any archived mod file:
- Click the Files tab on the mod page.
- Right-click Manual Download for the latest version, and choose Copy Link.
- Paste the link somewhere (Notepad is fine).
- Click the File Archive button at the bottom of the page.
- Right-click the version you want to download, and choose Inspect.
- Look for the
<dtelement right above the highlighted element, and copy thedata-idvalue.- In the link you copied in step 2, replace the number after
id=with that value.- Paste the link into your browser's address bar, and it'll download the archived file.
Note that downloading archived mod versions is at your own risk, and mod authors often won't provide support for them.

Hi, quick question. I recently uninstalled East Scarp, and now every time I start the game (at least, in the two times I've started it since removing the mod), I get a message in the game saying that there was an error and content was removed to prevent a crash
and the SMAPI log says that custom NPCs were removed and lists all the east scarp npcs
Just curious if this will always happen or if there's a way to stop getting the warning
You should be able to ignore that, have you slept into the next day in that save? The warnings should stop after that

stardew/smapi don't touch the save file on disk unless its saving overnight, so if you keep opening the save, its going to have the old stuff in it still until you actually have the game write over the save

@Manuel_TG there is actually an experimental way to play with more on PC. have the host open %appdata%/stardewvalley/startup_preferences and insert <playerLimit>6</playerLimit> into the list of tags. You can now play with 6 players. be aware not everything has been fully tested. enjoy!

they look like old versions / old versions merged with newer versions, so try deleting and reinstalling them

looking at the errors those are actually caused by "garden village - changes to other mods"
so ill remove the folders that are causing errors from that mod and see what happens
the PPJA mods, particularly more trees, fruits and veggies, and probably more food (but i think it's good to delete + reinstall all of them anyway, maybe even artisan valley). some of the mods contain files that were removed from newer versions of them (the garden village replacement files might contain them as well, since they are outdated as far as i know)

Don't know about cancelling animations, but there's this one that can greatly speed them up
Speed up many animations in the game (like breaking geodes or eating). Optionally configure the speed for each animation.

Vortex (Nexus) and ModDrop both are mod managers that can help you keep your mods up to date. However, they can cause bizarre issues and are difficult to troubleshoot.
If you're using a mod manager and ask for help troubleshooting, we probably can't help you if the issue is related to the mod manager. You can try asking the mod manager servers for help instead.

hey, i was just wondering if anyone has any idea on how to fix this, so practically me and my friend are playing with stardew valley expanded mod and the required mods for that, and he just went into the mine for the first time where he recives the sword and all but practically the cutscene doesnt properly end for him, like hes just stuck in it, he can see me walk around in the background so its not like the game crashed, any help would be really apprciated

a lot of recolors only load the current season; it's easier. But Ginger Island is locked to summer. You'll have to edit the recolor to always load summer

but the summer outdoors tilesheet is used in pelican town too

Hello, I have multiple Problems in rising severity:
- Happy Birthday crashes because there is a file "__folder_managed_by_vortex" somewhere in its sub directories. (Yes I know everyone always says "Don't use Vortex", but it works with all other mods I use...). When I delete this file it works just fine.
- There is a pathing issue with the NPC Shiro (I'm assuming from Ridgeside). Coincidentally, I also named my Cat Shiro. This problem does not really affect me much, but I think the NPC just stays at home all day.
- There is an error with stack split redux when I open the crafting menu. As far as I can tell it does not affect anything but you can never know.
- The game does not save anymore. This is caused by the absence of the Quality Artisan Products mod (Nexus old version: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3609 , ModDrop version which I used: https://www.moddrop.com/stardew-valley/mods/707502-quality-artisan-products)
I want to remove this mod because it is redundant with Walk of Life but when I do it, the error pops up when sleeping and the game stays on the saving screen forever.

On Steam: In your library, right-click Stardew Valley and select Properties... > Betas > then "compatibility" under the dropdown.
On GOG: From the game's page, click the settings icon > Manage installation > Configure... > then "compatibility" under the Beta channels dropdown.

hi, im having a problem with my game. i was using the child age up mod and my 2 children were toddlers already, but them the second child went back to being a baby and after that it disappeared, i think it was when my spouse asked to have another kid. after the new baby arrived the second vanished, the name isnt even in the friendship tab anymore.

why does my SMAPI white screen every time I try to open the 'Load Save File' area, but then work after like a minute and a half
because SDV/SMAPI is busy loading stuff and doesnt respond to the OS (windows probably?)

I don't use Vortex myself, so I can't help much with that. Can you install SMAPI using its installer instead: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Installing_SMAPI_on_Windows#Install_SMAPI? (Even if you install SMAPI the normal way, Vortex will still work fine for managing mods.)

Was trying to make artisan valley work on mobile(im bored and have too much time) so i installed some old versions of mods. got a million of these errors from the mail framework mod:
"An index value is required to attach an object for letter ppja.fragrantlilacseeds"
"No object found with the name Passion Flower Seeds for letter ppja.passionflowerseeds"
is there a way i can go about fixing this? ive got nothin but time
Either a) the old version of MFM had fewer features
Or b) something is going wrong with the JA mod
Or c) the older versions of PPJA just don't have those seeds
You can check 1. for errors related to JA in the log
- in the JA packs, if there's fragrant lilac seeds and passion flower seeds

Hey, I'm trying to get sve to work with the Immersive Hilltop farm but it says I need MTN to get it to work. However with the latest MTN (mtn-2. 1. 0-beta8) from Nexusmods I get the message that it's not compatible and to look for a newer version. So I take a look on smapi.io/mods only to find the message ''remove this mod (no longer maintained; equivalent map customizability was added in Stardew Valley 1.5).'' And so I don't know how to get the Immersive Hilltop farm to work

So uh. I had a mod called 'Bed Tweaks' off of nexus, which SMAPI determined to be a sterilizer mod. I have uninstalled it, but it's effects are still there. Do I have to start a new save file, or do I need to do something else?
That the code in the mod doesn’t work with your current version of the game or SMAPI or its other required mods. This can happen in various ways:
- you’re on an older version of SMAPI (most likely Android), trying to use a new mod
- SMAPI/game updated and broke the mod, the mod needs to be updated by the mod author
- probably others
(Although the first one is less likely, unless that mod’s manifest declared a wrong version - I think a lot of mods just declare SMAPI 3.0.0+, including mine, so still possible)

You have to be careful about which ones you pick, and as a rule of thumb the mods folder should be identical.
And even then you frequently need to work around some sync issues.

Hi! I'm having some crazy problem with my modded playthrough.
I have just upgraded my house to it's first iteration and anytime I interact with the stove I get this message: An error occurred in the base update loop: ArgumentException: An item with the same key has already been added. Key: 0
at System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2.TryInsert(TKey key, TValue value, InsertionBehavior behavior) ect.
The message repeats as well as the stove menu opening sound.

I also keep getting a "Json Assets No idea what '_________' is!" warning on multiple items. I haven't seen it before and the few times I have there didn't seem to be a solution. 
In general, get the host to pick mods that are texture mods or explicitly mp compatible in the description, then send everyone a zip of your mods folder.
And even then be frugal about what you pick.
I’m new to using mods, and I’m trying to use the Stardew valley expanded mod. I downloaded the mod and SMAPI. SMAPI has identified the mod but it doesn’t work. I followed the directions on the Stardew Valley wiki and I don’t know where I went wrong.

My fridge is empty. Most of the items in the chests inventory are vanilla. The json assets warning has been ongoing for awhile.
If you empty your inventory does that still happen?
Interacting with the fridge is normal. It's when I try to interact with the stove that the game loop error occurs.

how much ram do you have? the error might just be your system running out of the memory or it could be caused by a mod too. if you have 16gb or more i'd say it's likely not normal memory usage problem

I found the issue though, I was using Aster's Bathroom replaces Spouse Room, even with it off though it adds a piece to the house, so I had to uninstall it and it fixed it.
This is without the option for the starter farmhouse ticked. It adds that room to the right
yeah I had to do a compat thing with asters bathroom replaces spouseroom and no built in kitchen
I didn't think to do compat for that and bigger farmhouse

@shy sparrow Sorry to bug you again, I am using your No Kitchen Mod and the Bigger Farmhouse mod and I still got a kitchen at the starter house? Does it not work If I already have a started game? Or am I understanding the mod wrong?
you're not wrong! I'm doing a bunch of fixes right now for bigger farmhouse. It was my first map mod and I didn't think of things like no kitchen compat at the time xD

Mmm nothing too obvious that stands out, though I only skimmed through it. Is the vanilla buildings overlapping yellogs?

don't know if someone can help me with this but it happens to me that after an hour of play the fps start to drop to 40 and no game that I have happens to me that my pc exceeds all the requirements that it really asks for and I have everything updated and I have everything that is recommended to have installed I don't know if anyone has a solution for that

Yeah. No button to access invites, no way to invite through steam that works.
Of all the options stated on the wiki, 11 is the only one I havent done yet, but I feel it wouldnt be applicable
It doesn't let you type the invite code through the co-op screen as well? That's odd.
from memory the invite code stuff only shows up once the multiplayer session actually gets established
Not even then. I have no option to do multiplayer even when ingame - i can host, it states I am online, but no way to get an invite code or anything
I literally just reinstalled the entire game, from a USB copy from my partner whos' game works perfectly fine.
I redid every bit of my game from top to bottom and its still broken
I've changed my username to attempt to fix that, but unless the word "Testing" also happens to be labelled inappropriate, I dont see how that one works.

Hey yall i have a quick question about opening modded stardew via steam-
I've followed the installing smapi on windows wiki, and have done everything it tells me to do, however it still loads vanilla stardew?
If i open it through stardewmoddingapi it works, all the mods are there, however its just through steam where it just somehow wont work. It's worked before, idk why all of the sudden its done this. I've updated all my mods too
