if you have an optional dependency that isn't installed, sometimes PFM or JA will throw those warnings

there may be some that have optional parts that use PPJA ingredients—if they don't explicitly use hasmod I believe they throw these warnings. however, since they are warnings you can ignore them I belive.
if you want them to stop happening you're going to have to actually edit the mod itself

Eyo, I have a question that hopefully some may answer. Currently using...a lot of mods...and I've only just run into my first problem. Currently the Feast of the Winter Star and I've been given a molded npc, specifically Anton from Ridgeside village to give gift....and I have 0 idea where he is lol. Has anyone ever had this happen to them...and is there a way to figure out where he is, or even more to that matter, where an npc is located in an event?

best practice is to only have one mod that changes the map like SVE unless that mod supports the other mod and doesnt conflict with it.

That's what a lot of us do

I would try updating your mods first to see if that helps. Especially Content Patcher and pytk
np, also I ended up fixing it by running smap on vortex and its linked with steam
I actually removed my ridgeside folder from the mods. is that alright?
Should be unless you wanted to use it.
Might want to check and see if anything you have is using pytk. If you don't need that mod, I would 100% recommend deleting it.
yes, i wanted to play the game with just aesthetic mods and decided to remove it along side with spawner and cheats.

The only aesthetic mods that use pytk afaik are ones that load HD textures.

😅 so I tried to mod stardew valley for the first time (I own it on steam) thru vortex. But I got a crash pretty much. I tried to fix it and found I forgot to set vortex mod location to same drive as game and fixed that... But I got the same crash still and one of the lines references the wrong drive.

To clarify it says there are no eligible chests no matter what
How do I get smapi to work with mods because if I put it in any folder other then the stardew api folder in steam apps it doesn't pop up or anything and when I move it back it works with no mods. It says 3 mods loads but it only says mod metadata but that's not a mod at all .

if you're very worried about your log, you can probably delete your name out of it
it's literally just a text file so control-F for your name
why cant i use the steam overlay when playing with mods im on a mac (m1)

steam overlay allows you to take screenshots i believ

not really, you could use it as an adopt n skin pack
and then get one of that kind of animal with CJB cheats' help
and then set_skin
this doesn't seem all that easy though

i was just trying to find all the eeveeloutions
I did a goof I took the files out of the folders and smapi had no clue what I was doing
You could send me a zipped folder of the XNB skins and I can convert them to png and send them back
I have the program for it already, I use it for AdoptnSkin to get a stupidly high amount of skins
And once I put the files back in It worked like a charm
Bot speed is fixed. The trick in coding is in telling them where to go and what to do. 🙂

Unfortunately your save is corrupted
You can try to load a backup—the game itself saves 1 day of backup, and if you have Save Backup it saves more

No known way other than recovering from backups

Loading from a backup often works if the corruption is due to the day save process being interrupted
Sometimes it doesn't work, but I think often it does
All you need here is to be careful and methodical in copying files from folder to folder

Hey everyone. I'm having some trouble that I need help with. I'm trying to run a pretty heavily modded SDV (which is probably most of the problem). I had a fairly stable setup recently with a similar set of mods, but when some updates came out recently it broke everything. I've since retooled the mod list and was planning to start over, however now I can't even load into the game. I can get to the title screen and try to start a new game, but it freezes when it tries to load me in my room.
I'm wondering if I just have too many mods or some mods are conflicting or something. I tried to be careful about mod conflicts, but I may have missed something.
My SDV is on Steam and I'm running Windows 11

(There's no error in the log, it just kinda stops, which is why this is my guess)
Ah ok, so that's a known thing with PyTK. I know several of my mods needed it. I'll check which ones those are and see if I can live without those.
Although I think you most likely need PyTK for several mods since TMXL is pretty popular

It looks like the main things I will lose are East Scarp, Downtown Zuzu, Museum Expansion, and Stardew Aquarium, which is unfortunate because I was looking forward to trying out new locations.

well you have a lot of errors, your missing some mods
you need to update some of them since the versions your using are outdated and using outdated dependencies

So I switched to DCBurgers portraits today (the standalone CP compatible mod) instead of portraiture, to use lunakatt's DCBurger style portraits for SDVE, but now I keep getting this error message whenever I load into the game. I did install the compatibility patch that DCBurger had on his mods but yeah. I dont know... I figured I'd try asking here too, maybe someone's got an idea on how to fix this?
those are SVE npcs and come from the content patcher part of SVE, so SVE install is corrupted/missing parts
or they aren't loaded for whatever reason. if you upload the whole log we might see why

deleting all of SVE and reinstalling it and rechecking its dependencies would be the best choice. its dependencies and folder structure changed somewhat recently
i haven't had to update SVE in a while

this mod also is installed twice Fishing Made Easy Suite because you have multiple copies of this mod installed. To fix this, delete these folders and reinstall the mod: Mods\[CP] [GMCM] Fishing Made Easy Suite, Mods\[CP] Fishing Made Easy Suite.

Heya. Does anyone have any idea what causes this Error Item to spawn instead of a normal item from the game? The other times I see it is when I'm mining and it drops from rocks instead of stone, but when I pick it up it does list it as stone

okay, seems the mod just specified an item id that doesn't exist in the game for the letter , 391
so it's coming up as a generic error item
if you want to fix it, it's in the content.json of the first part of the mail mod, on the line that starts with "fall_1"
I tried to install a recolor which seemed to work fine, but I kept getting a "re-shade needs an update" on the main screen of stardew, even after deletion of the files installed for the recolor. I uninstalled stardew and re-installed, but it still said that. So I ran disk cleanup, suspecting files left behind after an improper uninstall. aand, you guessed it - still telling me re-shade has an update 😒

aaah I see, that makes sense then. But I see the same item when I'm mining rocks in the mines, any idea what may cause that? It doesnt bother me that much cause when I pick it up it coverts to stone
not sure about that, just anything that modifies the mining drops is suspect i guess (and custom ore node content packs might add nodes that look like vanilla, but are not i guess)
I haven't yet played the game today. I wonder if it is something in a SMAPI backup and if I deleted today's backup, would that fix the issue? 🤔

it has specific uninstall instructions Start "Natural Color - Launcher", press [1], and select the option "[2] Delete Natural Color" and all Natural Color files will be deleted (except the "Screenshots" folder).
I tried that but the uninstall option was not there

the reshade.ini file is still in the game folder even after re-install of the game (and previously deleting that file)
then i'd suggest making a backup of anything you want to keep from the game like the Mods folder, and then deleting the game folder and reinstalling (unless you already did it). steam for example doesn't remove added files from the game directory when uninstalling the game

you can check with cjb item spawner if the clothes are in the game (and spawn them too), at least if it's a json assets mod

Hello, I'm running version 1.5.6 with SMAPI 3.13.4 on windows. Most times when trying to start my game over steam, the smapi interface gets to "all mods loaded and ready", then several minutes pass with nothing happening. Then the game starts, but has trouble loading my saves. If it doesn't freeze trying to do this, it freezes trying to load the save. Yeah I'm using that version of farmer to florist - I had to use the prior update even to get the mail to work at all otherwise smapi would say it doesn't know what the mail recipe is, so it just removed it
maybe the DGA versions of the other PPJA mods don't play nice with the JA version of farmer to florist

You can fix it by forcing the mod to load last, but this depends on what other mods you have. The authors added the most popular ones but that doesn’t cover everything.
So what does it mean if I can find a mod in the Configure Mods menu? Does that mean it hasn't loaded or do some mods not have a menu?
For example the Skull Cavern mod. I have it but it's not in the menu.

in the mod organizer, when both are activated, one will say has 'overwritten loose files' and the other will say 'overwrites loose files'

unfortunately it's literally called "mod organizer"
stop using mod organizers for stardew. all you need to do is put the folder into \mods and thats it.

also the one you're referring to has not seen updates since 2020 (assuming its mod organizer 2) and even at the time had problems
(unless it's stardrop, which hopefully will become the best way to manage mods)
stardew modding is so user friendly without a manager tho, nobody should even need a software for that

Reset Terrain Features (https://smapi.io/mods/#Reset_Terrain_Features) is a mod that lets you reset, clear, or generate everything that spawns on a map using an in-game menu. custom items from the mod should be deleted (trashed) before removing it and quests too probably. not sure if there could be other problems though

So I deleted the Ridgeside Village folder and as a precaution used the Save Editor to delete my character's relationships with all the RSV characters. I also deleted the instances of them meeting.
Booted it up and it works like a charm. SMAPI said "removed invalid items to prevent crash" which in the log was just all of the villagers.

smapi's error handler mod actually does all the needed work to remove problematic npc data from the save file, so touching it isn't needed. but modded items and quests do cause problems

Hey all. I asked around yesterday for help with long load times and decided for now to play without PyTK (and anything that depends on it). However, now I'm having a problem that when I try to open a chest, the chest doesn't open and an error occurs in the SMAPI console.
Can someone take a look and see if you have any ideas what's going wrong?

Did you update some of your JA mods to be DGA mods? If so you might have leftover bad JA objects in a chest

I started a new game. Got enough wood to place a chest, tried to open it, and the error occurred. Shouldn't have been any leftover objects since it was new save.

generally speaking, DGA was made mostly to fix a very specific issue JA had ("the JSON shuffle ™️", but it did so at the cost of being incompatible with a lot of standard item stuff already there in the game.
also, DGA is now at this weird point where it's pointless to change a lot of stuff in it, as that particular reason for DGA's existence will no longer exist when Stardew 1.6 releases

whenever i launch modded stardew recently, my monitor becomes significantly darker when i exit the game. the only way my brightness for my darkness is fixed is when i turn my monitor off then on again. is there anything i can do to fix this?

is SVE inside a folder with a long name, particularly the same name as the nexus zip? if so, try moving the Stardew Valley Expanded (or similar) folder that is inside it to the mods folder instead

hello I have a super quick question. I wanted to launch my modded game from stems so that it tracks my hours played. However I have already deleted the SMAPI installer. If I redownload the SMAPI installer can I just do the steam overlay from there, or do I need to completely reinstall SMAPI?

So I think I figured out what my problem was with the chest errors. I was originally using Overworld Chests because I thought the idea of random treasure chests was kind of fun. But it ended up being too much and I decided to remove it. However, I didn't remove Advanced Loot Framework (one of the dependencies), and that's what was causing the error.
Well never mind. I apparently don't have the problem with my chests fixed. I was able to place one that I can open, but any other chest I place doesn't open and give an error in the console.
Anybody have any other ideas what's going wrong?

Based on a quick look at the error, it looks like something in FuryCore is what's causing the problem, but I don't know if it's FuryCore itself or one of the mods that depend on it.

I have been trying to figure out why I can't get Stardew RPG to work correctly for me.... I have spent untold hours removing mods & replacing mods (I'm currently running somewhere around 500) trying to find the intermod conflict... I finally found out that if I disable JsonAssets, then Stardew RPG will work correctly. However... it's not JA per se (rhymes, don't it? that's the culprit because I can run a stripped down version of the game with JA and a couple of JA mods & everything works fine.

any ideas on why convenient chests would say it loaded but its not showing under the generic mod config menu, and craft from chest doesnt seem to work, but hitting Q to stash does?
do i just delete it?

for the record, "unofficials" typically means "we got it to compile again" and little more than that
i was using that, but something wasnt working right for me, i know fury had it fixed but for me it still doesnt work
oh it was categorizing chests - i tried putting a mini shiping bin and a chest. chest only allowing cotton balls and the shipping bin only allowing thread. it woudl pull cotton to the looms, and the rest of them go to the shipping bin
to be honest - once a mod is on unofficials and the original author isn't around, it;s hard to get support

Can't you toggle that from the taskbar? 🤔
if you hit the windows button and type "windows defender" in the search bar at the bottom, it comes up
