hi guys sorry for the long msg but i'm super new to the multiple spouses mod and i'm having a bit of trouble. i checked SMAPI and all my stuff looks like its running correctly including the custom porches but i can't give anyone a mermaid pendant, they all reject me even w/ full hearts and a bouquet :/ .i was already married to sam before downloading if that affects anything just fyi. i combed through all the stuff on the nexus page but didn't find anything that seemed like it applied to me in the bug section. anyone have any ideas?

it might sound a bit drastic but to test it you could backup your save and temporarily divorce sam, and see if that let's you remarry

Unfortunately the best advice I can give is to backup your save and try remove your mods one by one to see if one of them is responsible for the error

The best research I could find indicated one of your XNB mods likely replaced something with an older or broken format, but all your mods seem up to date
I'd start by remove mods that are pre 1.5 like Customizable Death Penalty
remove_bush only removes the one you're looking at
I made a little test file and it's definitely not a problem that you were already married to Sam, so it's probably a conflict or something is outdated
You can disable mods easily by putting a period in front of the folder name, fyi. That might make it easier to test.
Hello! I'm having issues with my game. Whenever I go to sleep to save, I have a black screen and lines of red texts on SMAPI... I've tried to run the game without any mods, but still the same :/ (I don't mind restarting my game as I was on Year 1).

Do you have any backups of your save file? Maybe try making a copy of what you've currently got, putting a backup in and see if it loads. If it doesn't you might have to verify your save files or something

If you don't have any save backups you can just try rolling back to the previous day. The do that:
- Make a copy of your save file and put it somewhere safe then
- Delete the files "SaveGameInfo" and "dosOni_280781773"
- Rename "dosOni_280781773_old" to "your farm dosOni_280781773"
- Rename "SaveGameInfo_old" to "SaveGameInfo"

Try renaming your "cute valley" folder so you just put a fullstop in front like ".cute valley" it seems like there's a conflict between your mods. Since Json Assets is involved then if removing cute valley doesn't work I'd try reinstalling Json Assets. You've already reinstalled SVE so I won't ask you to do that

hello peeps, I have a question. I got my stardew to 64 bit, added my mods and tried playing. It said the dlls couldnt be loaded (LovedLabels & Customcritters, i got the unofficial updated versions) so then I removed them and added them again, it worked. Then I closed the game and started again and now I keep getting the "DLLs couldnt be loaded" from those and reinstalling those mods doesnt work anymore ;-;
I tried reinstalling smapi, adding the folder as exclusions and ransomware but it doesnt work sadly ;-;
Say, is there a mod to move the toolbar to the top of the screen permanently? Or am I going to have to bust out my Visual Studio?
maybe your save got corrupted? Backup your current save, reinstall the mods, and try going back a day
you can fix you toolbar in vanilla settings, I forget if it's top or bottom though

Hey, who wants to have a philosophical discussion about NPC mods? ๐
I was going to re-write Clint, but realized that however I did it, I felt like I was saying "This is the right way for Clint to be" and then I realized that rather than re-writing an existing character, it would be better to make my own.
And then I thought "If I'm better off making my own NPC, maybe I should just make my own IP in the first place." XD Although of course the nice thing about mods and fanfic and such is that you have characters/setting/plot all ready to go, out of the box.
But I am genuinely curious if anyone else has feelings about this.
With Clint, it would have to be a whole re-write for me to like him. ๐
Maybe just add some growth for Clint? Much like Shane changed over time

he's so extremely not on her radar it is 100% depressing he barely has anything else except upgrading your tools
I came up with two different personalities for him that I liked, one strong and silent but protective of Pelican Town (he's always at the bar to keep out-of-towners from making trouble because his big beefy blacksmith frame deters them) and one very outgoing and cheerful and always showing the kids geodes, telling the player which flowers the women like, etc.
Both, of course, would love shiny rocks.
But the effort feels wasted on Clint.

Pierre is surprisingly not-sucky if you go the no-punch route.
In other news, I learned that it's better to use a proper template for getting your crops in the right 16 pixel section, even if you're just copy-pasting an existing crop. ๐
Oh! And I have a silly mod to recommend that was implemented better than the concept deserves: Town Gossip.

Proper bug reporting is exhausting if you have enough (buggy) mods.
i feel like it's only been worth reporting Lemurkats bugs cause I don't usually get a response from other authors
i generally sort out playability myself so I'm really only reporting it so they can improve the mods for other people, and if they're not updating then...
bu then again I kinda enjoy finding bugs so i dunno
Meanwhile I haaaate doing the playtesting/bug reporting and avoid "alpha releases" if at all possible. ๐

depends on the save. You wouldn't want to break a year 4 themed run for example. But I also keep lots of backups if I know my mods are suspect

They both add npcs to the map, disable one if so. ๐

on pc you can give yoursellf hours of fun even without 1.5 with mods. I don't know what it's like on mobile
I want to mute the farm animal sounds... it wasn't bad to begin with, but now I have several & anytime I even get close to the fence a whole chorus of bleats, baas , moos quacks , grunts, etc breaks out. It gets really annoying
But, you know that many players are looking forward to 1.5, because, most of the content is late game, and many of the players are already in year 3 or even later
I know I even have a mod that within it's config has an option to mute animals, but I can not remember which one it is

i use the json assets for stardew valley for some mods, but im wondering...if i wanted to uninstall stardew valley altogether, would my save files become corrupted? or would that only happen if i redownloaded stardew and ran the save files without the mods? (i hope this makes sense lol)
If you just uninstalled the whole thing, then no, your files should remain ok.
If you tried to run SDV without any mods, then (if it didn't just crash) your save files could very well get corrupted. JA is a tricky beast at the best of times, & who knows what would happen....
If you uninstall all your mods, best just start over

yea if you wanted to uninstall just the mods, JA has a specific process where you uninstall the packs for it first and leave JA in there, then save. This allows it to clean up the items. Then remove JA

Is there such a mod to streamline shipping? How I normally play is I ship any items with stars and then keep the plain versions for crafting, cooking, etc. So I'm looking for a mod that will let me assign a hotkey to quickly ship items above silver quality for example
i just downloaded 2 xnb mods and a dresser mod, no spouse rooms and cat scarecrows, not sure what went wrong but now my chests are invisible, i can still use them but they dont show up anymore

Guys, im having errors like you need to use smapi 3.8.0+ but im using the lates version already, none of the mods work because of this. (im on android)

You need to use earlier versions of your mods, nothing newer than 12.21.2020

Android current versions are SDV 1..4.5.151 SMAPI 3.7.6.1 (ZaneYork Installer 3.7.6.9)
SDV 1.5 and SMAPI 3.8 Came out 12.21.2020 on PC, so all your mods need to be the most current version prior to that date.

Hello! I'm new to using mods (and this server ๐) and I'm having trouble opening a config.json file. This is for TimeSpeed and it's the only mod I've installed, other than the ones SMAPI comes bundled with. I've tried using a variety of text editors to open the .json file, but they either outright fail or tell me "C:\Program" doesn't exist. Create it? (and if I say yes, it creates an empty file)
Does anyone know why this might be happening, or if this isn't the best place to ask, could you redirect me to a more appropriate place? ๐
.json files can be opened with basic notepad. Just right click the file and choose notepad to open it with

Troubleshooting
Antiviruses may flag/block/delete the installer since it moves/copies/modifies files in your game folder. In that case you may need to whitelist the installer in your antivirus program.
hmm, some light googling of that specific error message turns up permission/admin issues (as in, are you the administrator of the pc you're using), or issues with the shortcuts to the text editors that people were clicking on. either way, the config.json itself doesn't sound like the issue, but rather the pc trying to access the text editors and not being able to for some reason >.>
open the text editor and then open the json from within that?
if that fails, download and install notepad++
you probably have some borked links (ie link is C:\Program Files\blablubb, but because its missing "" around it, windows reads it as C:\Program)

yeah there are a lot of mods that add custom NPCs (be aware that these will crash multiplayer though) and a lot of mods that change the art assets. it's hard to recommend specific ones since only you really know what you're looking for aesthetically--you could try scrolling through the top mods on nexus and see if anything jumps out at you
SVE and RSV should in theory work in multiplayer

i don't think i'd personally recommend that one for a beginner
either for someone new to modding (it's more complicated/more prone to breaking stuff than smaller mods) or new to the game (the amount of added content is, i've heard, overwhelming/confusing to players new to SDV)
for aesthetic mods i personally really like Stardew Foliage Redone, Diverse Stardew Valley/Seasonal Villager Outfits (both have the seasonal outfits function), and...there's one that changes the color palette that i like, trying to remember the name

ridgeside adds a whole new town with a ton of new NPCs
some mods can mess up your save, most won't--anything that's a "content patch," for example, you're gonna be basically fine

im not sure what would be causing the issue exactly
but it seems you have lots of mods that change the same thing
for example a toned down stardew valley recolours the exact same areas rustic country interiors does
and 2 grass recolour mods
and flower valley and medieval buildings
i couldnt tell you what mod is causing ur grass issue specifically, but cleaning up ur mods folder with any redundant mods like that could very well be a solution
in their log it says they're using both "a toned down stardew valley" as well as eemie's recolor, wouldnt that be the issue? two different recolors wont work well together iirc
a toned down stardew valley 4.1.6 doesnt recolour outdoor areas anymore it looks like

I think the nice think about being the town millionaire is you don't have to put in the effort of being mayor, you can just pay him off and he starts and stops fesitvals just for you, puts in upgrades just for you, etc.

Hmm I'm not entirely sure but from the looks of it, parts of Cute Valley are missing, asset wise. You could try removing/reinstalling the mod

It means SV hit your ram limit. If i remember correctly SV 32bit can use up to 4gb. So you either have to play max few days in a row, delete some heavy mods or switch to SV 64bit

i prefer sve bc the art is more like vanilla. Also the sheer number of ridgeside npcs is a bit overwhelming, especially with no NPC map for the area. I'll probably play eventually just... not yet

sve is big too but i think things get unlocked more gradually, like you have to befriend npcs to realise where the new areas are

I was using an older update from custom furniture from https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1254?tab=bugs. but i updated it and than smapi doesnt worked anymore for me. does anyone here knew a fix? sry for my english i hope you can understand me.
We do have a map (unless you're using a recolor, recolor support is added in the next update

Regarding the content. We're updating Ridgeside in a large content update where the experience will be much more linear. This will be in the 1.3.0 update. (The next one is 1.2.8)

So I just got both rsv and sve, but can't get the maps right. The farmer's location doesn't show up correctly on the maps.
I have them on separate mod groups, though so that SMAPI would load them separately.
I did it. It works know for me. I dont realley why it wasnt working but I fix the problem now. thx and sry for disturbing. but I am happy to be here. I loving this game so much and I didnt know about its able to be modded.
they should be compatible when loaded onto a fresh farm. when you say mod groups you mean folders..?

My main concern is that when the farmer goes to those new locations, the map don't highlight the farmer's current location.

what you're doing sounds weird though. Not loading sve on a sve run usually breaks the game

NPC Map Locations!
judging by looking at the files i think im maybe misunderstanding something, my understanding was that by "female bachelor beach sprites" it meant when they were at the beach south of pelican town?
Would check it out, for the sake of the farmer location. I just find knowing the npc location on the map a bit cheaty.

I'd like to try a separate run for those mods, sve for male farmer and rsv for the female farmer.
I don't play with that mod, but I know beach can sometimes just mean when NPCs are at the beach for events. Try looking at the README.txt in your mod folder for a list of all available configuration options. I may not fully understand your problem bc I jumped into the convo late btw
Apparently the beach thing is related to a 1.5 feature which is why i was confused

since im not fluent w 1.5 stuff

it also seems as though that mod is design with generic config in mind, so if you don't see the option you're probably not meant to have it
Now I wanna know if there's a mod or a way to make characters wear their beach sprites over regular sprites

my motivation is because i am a lesbian and beach sprite (girl) sebastian is very cute
that is good motivation i think
it's possible by switching the images in your mods folder, but it won't be perfect without a bit of drawing on your side since some of the poses will be missing

There shouldn't be any map labels, indeed. Those are added via NPC Map Locations (for RSV)
