Nope, that's why I mentioned checking the mod descriptions. So if you have a CP mod you want to install, you'll only need CP (and that mod should mention that in their description). Same with the other mods (BFAV, JA, etc.)

You can organize the mod folder a lot more than I have o.o for example, many modders add a note at the beginning of the folder name to tell you which framework it requires, ex. [CP] Ali's Flower Farm

but you could even have sub folders, like a folder that says "Gameplay" and then inside that put all your gameplay mods, etc.

The only thing is load order is dependent on alphabetical order, so if you have conflicting mods, like dialogue, then it might affect (or as Wing said, textures)

what i was looking for so I can put all the frameworks in one folder so I don't have to look for it in a folder full of mods
for example, I was having issues with a specific retexture so I renamed the mod I wanted the texture of to "z" and then it's name so it loaded last

Yeat if mods are well set-up, you should be able to toss any mod folders you want into subfolders and still have everything work! So you can organize with folders like "Sprite Replacers" "Frameworks" "New NPCs" "Game Mechanics" "UI" if it's helpful to you!
(Occasionally you get do mods with code that looks for the exact file locations of other mods, but that's kinda hacky for mod-makers to do and it's discouraged.)

I'd suggest don't over-organize though. If it's too easy to accidentally put the same mod in two places when updating it or something, that adds extra hassle.

Yea we've had several people have a mod into 2 different subfolders, the mod won't load. THERE CAN BE ONLY 1

AHA I FIGURED IT OUT, chestex has a comma after the row number that I accidentally deleted
Apparently you can just install the new version and it'll automatically remove everything it needs to first, but I don't trust, so I run it twice >_> once to uninstall, then again to install

you can extract it anywhere, I do in my Downloads folder. You just need to run the bat file. It'll know where to go
(that's how I do it, but like I said, you can apparently just install and it'll do the thing correctly)

what do you have your resolution set to? vs what your screen size is

I say "true XNB" because there are CP mods that still contain XNB files as part of the package, but they go in your Mods folder and not in the Content folder

2 things: there's a tag for requiring Content Patcher, but also the folder name is [CP] Stardew Valley Reimagined 2, so it has the [CP] acronym in the front

My rule of thumb for SVE is basically it's the only map mod that I'll download
unless the map mod says it's sve compatible
I mean. Corrupting might only happen if you remove a mod that directly edits your save file. Most mods are safe to remove from your save with no issues, but there are exceptions

I also have mad experience with tweaking mods to work together, from 1000s of skyrim and modded minecraft before launcher hours
It really depends on the type of mods you have. Like if you have a lot that switch out assets often (like Seasonal Villager Outfits), your game will slow down a bit at times, but otherwise it's fine
Ah- I am reminded of my skyrim modded days
Yea same Wing! Skyrim was my initial jump into the heavy duty modding (because Sims modding is so light it doesn't really count as heavy duty lol)

Depends on what you want to do! From tweaking mods to work together, and "modding the mods" to get some but not all of their aspects, I've learned more about the framework mods. So you could create mods using the existing frameworks. If what you're trying to do isn't covered by the existing frameworks, then you'll need to pick up some C# and make a SMAPI mod
Makes me wish how my old school didn't just stop at teaching me "Hello World"

So like, random question...are there a set amount of hair slots or something? Why do these hairstyle mods replace some vanilla ones?
you can extend the tilesheet downwards to fit more hair, but there's an in-built limitation on how large that tilesheet can be
Ah alright. So the reason that hairs have that limitation but shirts don't seem to...I assume is just the fact that hairs are probably just a larger sprite altogether but they're otherwise working off the same limitations?

Speaking of Get Glam though, how does it work with the Tailoring system?
My memory is that clothes in stardew were originally just hardbaked so short of the wizard you couldn't change anything, then after that tailoring was added and they became objects, but I can't see any mention of how Get Glam handles clothes as objects since it seems to use a character creation interface instead.

and first I made a mistake typing it, I didn't put a space between Program and Files but when I did it still doesnt work, it says it can't find a file named Program so it thinks program and files are different files I want and I don't know how to fix it

Other things I noticed in your SMAPI log though:
you have 4 mods that didn't get added because they're likely XNB mods (it's the first block of red text, Skipped mods). I recommend removing those folders from you Mods folders, and you can check if there's Content Patcher alternatives for those mods in https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Using_XNB_mods#Alternatives_using_Content_Patcher

Where would I find the documentation on how many of each item type can be added with Json assets? I'm trying to determine which JA Content Packs I can toss in to the modlist I'm building for my friends for more content. I'm looking at the JA Readme on GitHub rn, but not seeing anything.
I'm not aware of a limit, but hopefully someone else in the chat will know (I've definitely seen people with tons and tons of JA packs). The game may load a little bit slower if you have a ton though

Yeah, I just remember there being a hard limit on the number of fruit trees before, which caused issues with me trying to use JA FtF alongside some other mods. If that's gone, there isn't a problem, if not... well. I don't remember what the limit was, or how many of the ones I'm planning to run... Oh. Okay. It's been listed as having been removed. I was already looking at this, don't know how I missed it.
There was, because of the 4096x4096 texture size limit, but one of the reasons spacecore is required now is because it is sailing past that

JA extends the tilesheets down as it adds custom items, but it couldn't go past a certain death-size at the time, which was particularly noticeable with fruit trees because they are so big they take up more space, and the size is reached faster!

...now then, for today, time to combine the hair mods together with get glam in such a way that I can just plop it over to my friend and they can replace it without me having to give them a page of instructions. And to sprite edit seasonal outfits to remove the bow leggies. @ .@
Omg the bow leg removal is gonna be a really long project for you
trust me, I was merging a mod to remove Sam's RIDICULOUS mullet, and that was a multi day project, because I had to cut out his previous head, copy paste the new one, and then remove any former traces of the mullet @.@ granted, I had to edit both the portraits and the sprites, and you only have to do sprites, but, yobaspeed because you have so many to do.
Plus you gotta be careful any time there's an update to SVO

You could use a mod that lets you pass through whatever. NoClip Mode is probably simplest https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3900
(Although if one of the reasons you can't reach it is because it has building tiles on it or something that doesn't allow placement, it won't solve that problem for you.)
Well, I'm not really looking to like...release or maintain it so it's not that bad. Portrait mods give me the willies thinking about doing anything with those, but I'm incredibly comfortable working with sprites at this point. And it'd mostly be stylistically doing fixes for mods that are otherwise already mostly fixed. The only one I can see that I'd even need to do it on is uh....Seasonal Villager Outfits, so it's not too much work. I'll just take stylistic notes from the Slightly Cuter Villagers mod since that one seemed to do it well
I assume I'll be able to knock it out in couple hours at most....er, once I can figure out exactly how to apply the changes when I'm done. Looking into the xcl xnb format but I'm guessing since we'll want content patcher anyway I probably don't even need to fuss with it
...but I'd still like to figure out the tool for unpacking anyway just to double check if the mods I'm modding did anything particularly weird (and maybe do some conversions)

@true stratus What kind of unpacking do you mean? Most modern mods you download won't have any files needing to be unpacked, just pngs or jsons you can open with any image or text editor. If you mean SMAPI (C#) mods, those would need to be decompiled if their source was not publicly available.

Goodnight, I thought you were saying you were directly editing the SVO sprites to have the "no bowlegs" version, which is what I did with Sam's hair. I just meant if there's updates for SVO, you have to remember not to directly replace the files you edited. Like I made a note for myself so I don't replace any Sam files (sprites or portraits), so that if there's an update to SVO, I leave Sam's stuff alone.
If you're using a CP mod to do it, that's a different story. Idk how you'd do that o:
Well since I"m modding a mod I was going to unpack the packed xcls xnbs to get into the sprites sheets themselves to edit them
Since not all of them are in a nice little ContentPatcher format and some are still setup to replace the game files completely
So it'd also let me do things like combine two hair mods into one single hair mod sheet and presumably use Get Glam to make sure it's not gonna explode when I do that.

Get glam doesnt work with xnbs and does not require hair mods to br merged
It is specifically a framework for allowing multiple hair/skin/etc mods to be loaded at once

it's the houses that i'm having issues with
starblue keeps overlaying the recolored buildings over the top of the flower valley ones
ah thats right they both recolor the houses...so i dont think they would be compatible unless you can disable that for one of them
eemie's recolor works fine with flower valley though
i think daisyniko's recolor should work too
yeah all the recolors have nice things about them, its hard to choose sometimes lol
My favorite one is Stardew Foliage Redone
It has a full recolor version and a foliage-only version (in case you want to use it with other recolours)

SVE needs either More Grass with the Winter Grass option turned on, or Winter Grass
I'm running on Linux and everytime I download a mod with skins, there is always another error that's not in red. It's super repetitive and annoying

I asked about this earlier, and someone offered a temporary solution, and it worked fine on all the other mods except this one. I think it altered the necessary images for the skins and screwed them up somehow. I guess I'll have to deal with the spammy error rather than have the game crash.

I wanted to install 3 fishing mods and wanted to check all the required mods for them, they were all fine but then some of the mods that they required also required mods, and it kept going with them requiring more mods until there was a total of 22 mods required for those 3 fishing mods

however, there are ways to do it! so if you're only changing clothes for vanilla, you'd need to have the shirt / pants, since you can now craft clothes. You can store them in a vanilla dresser and they're categorized by item type

you can tailor stuff at Emily's house (there's an event) and some items are dyeable. There is a mod to add the sewing machine and dying station as craftable items, called Home Sewing Kit

customize anywhere has a dresser thing that you can buy/craft/spawn which adds all the clothes from the game plus any JA packs you have

If you're adding JA clothes, you might be able to buy them using the Tailor Mouse mod (you can check if it's included in it)

(On the bright side, SMAPI and all of Pathos's mods are always updated on the same day as the game update comes out. Pathos also prepares migration documentation for modders to help prepare for upcoming changes that will impact them, as much as he has permission to and can manage without spoiling content.)

Yeah SVE and DeepWoods are automatically compatible, even if you use SVE's Immersive Farm 2 Remastered.
You might have seen a guide saying they need a patch - they don't, that guide is for a different version of Immersive Farm (not the one that comes with SVE)

You can't exit? DeepWoods isn't designed to exit. It always makes you get lost once you go in a couple levels. It never saves the path you took

You get lost after just a few levels so you get turned around and can't find your way back

Something I am always concerned about when installing a mod is deleting the files, can i delete the files you get after extracting and can I delete the zip files?
The files inside the zip are the ones you need - that's the mod itself. But you can delete the zipped folder once its been extracted.
Yeah all you need is a copy of the extracted files, put into your mod folder. If you have an extra copy somewhere else from when you first extracted them, you can safely delete those.

like, code saying that rightclicking a specific tile position on a specific map at a specific time results in a thing, and in the vanilla game there's a bush there and you're shaking the bush, but it's not a type of bush item with a tile action, the game just...has code for rightclicking certain coords

The automation interval is the number of ticks between each automation update. There are 60 ticks/second. For example, setting an automation interval of 600 will run automation every 10 seconds.

Hey did anyone else have problems with lag after downloading the stardew valley expanded mod? It looks really great, and I'm probably gonna play it either way, but its sort of just enough to be annoying. I only really notice it when moving, it feels like as the screen shifts around me there's a slight shuttering. I've only played one day, and I have other mods installed, if that matters. I think it might have got a little better after I disabled a couple of them I didn't carry so much about, but its just baffling because I can't imagine this a CPU thing.
Oh this might matter too, the little black box that preceeds launch give me this error, even though I'm launching through steam. I don't really care about achievements so I didn't pay it any mind, I think it might be because I started running as an admin to speed up bannerlords some time ago?

@lethal bramble hi there! did you set up the steam launch options, for your 2nd question? as far as SVE causing lag, it edits a lot of stuff, including maps, so if you have a less powerful machine ( ๐ฅ ) you may see some lag, especially if you also have a ton of other mods

@lethal bramble there's a config option in Farm Type Manager mod
Change "Monster Limit Per Location" to 200 or so, see if that fixes your lag.

Yes it would
SVE adds a new map with a heckton of monsters and the game is always calculating their movements even if you're not there
If it's still lagging you can try setting it even lower like 50 or so, but 200 is low enough for most computers to manage ok.
Cool, so to be clear I click farmtypemanager-configeditor, and then there's an option somewhere? I'm opening it with comodo but all I see is a monster tab with a box inside that I have an option of checking or leaving unchecked.

the SaveBackup folder in your Mods folder doesn't have the saves though, I mentioned earlier they're in Stardew Valley > save-backups, and at least mine are zip files

I hear you zazaq123, but if you don't have an Error Logs folder, SMAPI may not have installed properly for some reason, so if you're having issues in the future, you won't be able to see your error log, which has a ton of useful info

Okay Nexus said I didn't have SMAPI installed, I wonder if maybe it didn't extract properly or something, or if its because I installed not from Nexus last time?
So I'm loading that and reinstalling the mods I trimmed now.
(Nexus doesn't know what mods you have installed, it just always lets you know what requirements any given mod has when you try to download it)
Yea if you didn't download SMAPI from Nexus, then it wouldn't be listed in your Downloads History (assuming that's what you're talking about)
Remember that even if you install SMAPI correctly, the game will not start modded (and thus not have an error log) unless you either launch StardewModdingAPI.exe directly from the game folder, or adjust your Steam launch options to point to that file. Yeah, the installer isn't a mod so it doesn't go there. You can just remove it.
To properly install it, you need to follow the install instructions

The error logs folder doesn't get a log in it until the game is run with SMAPI yeah, that's what I was saying . That message just meant it was finally run with SMAPI, so there will be a log.

well the main issue you had was lag, this all began because I'd asked if you could post your log so we could take a look at your full log, and see if there were things you could optimize / remove to improve your performance issues. If you're good with it the way it is that's fine, but that's what started this xD
(There wouldn't have been anything to optimize if they never ran it with SMAPI, because it was never actually using any mods.)

If they reinstalled from the brand new version, maybe 3.6 in addition to having an option to attempt reducing startup time, also has magic lag fixing :P

I was thinking that even as small a share as Linux is in game that it would go unreported, and surely even I must have seen that event at least once.

I don't think that would be why since the log specifically noted a problem with not being able to find shane, but something else may have failed somewhere that caused it to hiccup over that in the first place. I'm not really familiar with how it handled all that though, so I'm not sure where that would be

@tired brook Someone on Linux crashed once on an event that used shane instead of Shane, and got an error about Content/Characters/shane not being found. That seemed like something that would have been reported by like all 10 Linux users the game has, so they tried again and force played the event using debug ebi 3910975. The filesystem on Linux is case-sensitive but the content managers aren't. That means if you load Content/Characters/shane first, it will fail; but if Content/Characters/Shane was previously loaded and then you try to access Content/Characters/Shane, that will work fine.
Basically you should use the exact capitalisation to avoid issues.
Using the latest Automate mod...when putting a chest next to a fruit tree, the fruit tree does not seem to create any more fruits/grow...

Okay a real bug this time, game's crashed twice. First time was right in the morning as I stepped outside on my second day, so I didn't really care, second time I walked into my bed and wouldn't sleep, so I tried to step outside and back in to fix this and the game crashed at like midnight. Anyone else have this bug? Before anyone asks I can't use the (https://smapi.io/) link, I tried to and it says it can't find the folder.

@lethal bramble This shouldn't really be related at all, but for now can you download the new version of SMAPI https://smapi.io/ (yours is 3.5, update is 3.6) and install that? Then launch the game via SMAPI with the new one installed, and see if the logging is working ?
If I remember you had downloaded the 3.6 installer and had it in your Mods folder, so it doesn't look like the installer ran/was run

- Go to https://smapi.io/, scroll to the bottom, and install the SMAPI 3.6.0 for developers version.
- Launch the game again.
- The SMAPI console should be much more detailed, and show (almost) everything that would appear in the log file.
- Upload the console text to https://smapi.io/log/ and post the link here.

Yep, both loaded fine. SMAPI is just letting you know they rewrite game code, which is more likely to cause bugs; if they're working fine for you, you can ignore that.

Yep. If you play on Windows, you just need to add SMAPI to the Steam launch options (there are instructions in the install guide).
hello, i'm using mac, and when i logged back into stardew valley on my gf's farm, my speed suddenly dropped to walking speed even though the running animation is showing
I use CJB cheats and I have the speed setting to 2, but the speed suddenly dropped.
I can offset this by changing the speed higher to like 7 or 8 but this is obviously not normal

final update, sorry for the spam, I went in the steam folder and deleted the stardew valley folder entirely before reinstalling, the issue is fixed now.

Steam has a built in reaquire broken/missing files button, rightclick pn the game name then go to properties and then to local files and click validate
Almost all xnb mods are broken and will not be fixed and will break your game in unpredictable ways

I don't have the file under farmtypemanager folder to limit the number mobs, if someone else knows another way to do it, or any other advice, I'd really appreciate it.

If adding that file worked, you shouldn't have to do anything - the lag should already be fixed.

Hi, I think I have some mods that are in conflict or something, specifically that I can't get the Artisan Goods butter churn from Marnie and my extruder won't turn honey into beeswax anymore. Looks like there's a few more but I haven't actively run into them (also I'm not worried about the shaved ice mod and had this issue before adding it last week)

Ok, yea seeds are sold at Pierre's, some recipes you can buy at the Saloon, others you get through the mail. But like I said, there's seasonal / year requirements for most of that stuff. If you go to the mod page for any of those mods on nexus, they'll have a link to the mouseypounds database, so you can get details on how to unlock / purchase the stuff
