You'll need to redo your extraction - Move the zip file to somewhere on a much shorter file path (like your desktop), then unzip Stardew Valley Expanded to the desktop. Then cut/paste it to your mods.
Because you just made it skip extracting a bunch of key files

(Windows has a 256 character limit for filename/filepath, and you're crossing it when you're unzipping into the mod folder)
So you need to get the filepath shorter to unzip
Easiest way is to unzip on something like your Desktop, which is a very short filepath

I'm on Linux - Steam Deck if that means anything
- Move zip to desktop.
- Open zip file.
- Right click the Stardew Valley Expanded folder in the zip and hit copy.
- Paste it on your desktop.
- Move the Stardew Valley Expanded folder to your Mods folder.
I'm not sure - You can always open a new save then export a new log after a day and see if it's still there.
You might have some issues with Ridgeside, you're running into a known issue with Linux and case sensitivity
I'm not sure what the fix is, I believe they know about it on their Github

Follow the step by step instructions to extract it to your desktop. And it'll take a minute or two to unzip, there's a LOT of files in there.

That's the easiest solution - You need to get the filepath short enough that it doesn't cross Windows limits.
Filepath isn't something to download, it refers to the list of folders to get to a location (Like C:\Users\Example\Desktop)
When you extract, you'd get a window similar to this, right? Just delete the part highlighted here before extracting.
I can't find anything but I'm not very familiar with github. If I know where the file is, Linux is just case sensitive so I just have to fix that which is likely the problem. There's a capital letter somewhere and it isn't routing properly... but I can't figure out where
Ok - Don't skip, don't cancel, don't hit the X, just let it unzip.
Unfortunately, it's in the C# side of the mod, which means it needs to be recompiled from source with the fix.

I was hoping maybe one of those mods would fix the problem with lostwoods lol. I can't figure out how to type in smapi to make the Bubba error go away ๐ steam deck is a bit rough for this kind of thing lol so restarting is the way if this update didn't fix anything. ๐ค which I'm testing now
Yeah - I'm not sure which mod is guilty of that NPC error - I've seen it before but I don't know where it's from. As for the RSV error, it just means you don't get access to the daily quests, which while annoying, isn't entirely gamebreaking
The next update past 2.5.13 will fix the quest capitalization bug

you just install the new version, any old version detected will be removed automatically

Yeahhhhh, when I did this there were a handful (and about half of them were updated later the same day as the download)

So LS what was the problem that brought you in?
This feels like an interview The Portraiture thing is part of it though it may be on the list of updated mods at this point, but it's largely these three things:
- Getting the Bus unofficial update to read (it logs it as the correct version but still claims incompatibility)
- Figuring out a way to alter the portraits, though I'm not above changing the files around entirely
- A weird graphical glitch that does not log that causes a grid of identifying bubbles to overlay the lower right of the farm house, which I think has to do with a specific mod that I can find the name for in just a second
If possible, I'd also like to see if there's a way to change the Star Kabi furniture into AT or additional CP furniture, rather than replacement

So, I had quite a few problems with items disappearing with the better chests mod. Chests picking up items and the items not showing up or manually putting items in inventory chests and those disappearing.
After a bit of trial and error, I assume that the problem is that I am using junimo chests and they don't work properly and can desync quite easily.
Does anyone else have that problem?
You might have to wait a bit before one of the more experienced members are back, unfortunately... in the mean time, have you already checked the SMAPI log?
I haven't. I assume it's just something inherent to the game. I just wanted to bring up up, since people told me that "better chests" never ate their items

Okay, I finally got it! This is the only area where I've noticed this happening so far, but like I mentioned before I haven't gone too far in depth with this as of now. I mostly try to do a quick walk around between tweaks to make sure nothing too game breaking is present before I move on; I also haven't adjusted any settings as of this time either in menu or in GMCM
And also the furniture that clashes terribly, of course, but that's not really a problem so much as personal preference

I recommend just removing AT to start with (you don't have to delete it just yet, just move it outside your Mods folder) and see what happens.

Are you using an AT content pack to change the look of fruit trees?
Do you think that it's trying to load the textures without the mod? I think CanI mentioned having deleted the fruit tree mod
I looked up the fruit tree tweaks mod and it is not an AT content pack - it changes mechanics. Deleting it mid-game might have caused the problem though because it allows things that vanilla doesn't (like placing fruit trees right next to each other) so if they did something like that with the mod installed and then deleted the mod, it might've done wacky things with how the game sees the fruit trees.

It's saying that the mod spacecore is not able to access one of your save game files (the one for Echo Valley). Have you touched your save game files in any way?

Interesting. Spacecore shouldn't be having any problems then. I am assuming that it is doing so because of it getting messed up. If you want to try to stop the message you could try looking at your same game files in your file browser and seeing if there's any files or folders for that save file left, but if you just want to ignore the error it's probably fine (disclaimer: I have never come across the error before so I am not 100% sure it won't be a problem in future).

In regards to your many exclamation marks in your farmhouse - can you tell if there's meant to be something in the farmhouse that isn't there? Like any furniture you'd be expecting or something?
Shouldn't be, least of all there? I did grab the kitchen addon after checking that it should still be compatible, and other than the farm map itself being changed to uhh... IFR2 (I think that's the abbreviation), there shouldn't be anything outside that overlays to my knowledge

Well, I more or less remember what all I have, I... could try taking out furniture stuff one at a time?
Unless it might be an overlay issue; I grabbed a few that are meant to mark things like empty production machines and crops that need water, etc, stuff like that
Try going to the mod pages of those mods and seeing if any of their screenshots show the mod making use of those exclamation mark bubbles. If you find one doing that, it might point to that mod causing it.

That was a good thought, btw. I am looking into your kitchen mods because you have several of them and the kitchen mods that replace the vanilla kitchen don't work together so I am trying to see if you accidentally have more than one of those.

Yeah, I think most of your kitchen mods are going to clash. AT packs are probably okay, but I think any CP ones (so both of Yomi's, both of Orangeblossom's, and the BC kitchen stations - maybe not this one) are just going to overwrite each other so you only get the one that's last in your mods folder - which is presumably Yomi's Star Kabi Kitchen.
I am not completely sure on the behaviour, but that's what I expect. I only ever use one kitchen replacer at a time because of the fact that they are all trying to replace the same thing and they obviously can't all manage that at once.
Dang it. Ah well, I might try to dig in later to see if there's a way to convert them to AT, I guess

I suggest you completely remove Bus Locations, download it again from the github, and install it again. Because I just downloaded the mod from github and it came with the manifest correct so it's possible that you have an entirely incorrect copy of the mod.
That's so weird, I swear I've done that =( Though I do have a terribly unreliable memory, so I could be wrong
If your whole manifest is wrong, it's likely that the .dll is wrong too so you could have the mod be accepted by SMAPI and then break your game if you just try fixing the manifest.
It might be something related to using a mod manager - I'm not sure as I've never used one for Stardew.
Either way, it's a tiny mod so it's just easiest to redownload anyway I think

Ok that's good. With the other mods that are claiming they need updates, if you're certain that you definitely have the right versions of them you can just open the manifest up and change the version number - sometimes mod authors forget to update their version number when uploading an update to Nexus. I also do it when I know that I don't have the latest version but don't want to update it lol
XD You know, valid. I had a bit of a time of it when I decided I was done collecting and started to really work on things, only to realize about half a dozen mods I had just gotten said that they had a 0.0.1 update later the same day

hello i have a problem and could use some help!
i play with the mod: [CP] Portrait Anime Mods OhoDavi (on nexus mods: stardewvalley anime mods) and i am in winter, and the Portrait of the NPC`s (with winter Portraits) are set to default and i would like to have these anime Portraits in winter to can someone help fix/edit this. and i would like it to edit it on a current save so that i dont have to start a new game
Do you have a link to the CP version? I just see XNB variants at first glance and XNB mods are heavily frowned upon for various reasons

Ah - Doesn't look like the mod includes winter variants - Without seasonal variants, it will just fall back to the loaded NPC defaults.

It can, but I don't know the syntax or required tweaks to make it work. Sorry.

Hey, theses Categorize Chest Option wont stay enabled. every time i close the chest, its going back to default and i think default is disabled, bc i cant categorize my chests
Hmm - That log looks really weird since it's not showing any mods - Can you double check your Mods folder and take a screenshot that includes the filepath at the top?

The problem is not with your AT content pack, it's that you don't have an updated version of AT itself
You have a bunch of mods that need to be updated, one of which is Alternative Textures - It's not even loading because the version you have isn't compatible with the current version of SMAPI/the game
Hey I've got a problem with seasonal decor items (vanilla items) that dont properly follow the seasons, but only on some days? Ive found that I can break them and replace them to correct their season, and the following day they reset back to spring or stay winter (winter in this case)

I've never used Alternate Textures before - I know there are some items you can use to force changes, but I'm not sure on what all is in the config - I assume you can't scroll down any farther?

in winter, the flower barrel becomes a snowman
but its stuck in its spring sprite

@jagged marsh @rough frost hi both, and apologies for squeezing into the middle of your convo, thought I could help explain a bit on how Alternative Texture packs work as it's not obvious at first - for AT to work you need to use the it's own tools (purchased at Robin's - there's paint bucked and few others, usually at the very bottom of her catalogue) then use that tool on an existing item to get a pop up with available alternative texture for it. So in this case you'd need to place a path and then left click on it with the Alternative Textures paint bucket tool to choose the new texture from the installed pack. Some of the other tools help apply the new textures a bit quicker too so you don't need to select it every time etc. (ok, back in my cave now, hope that helps a little bit)

All good - I appreciate you stepping in with the answer (And I'll know for next time) - Didn't have the time to tweak my mod list to test it, and I'm happy that someone who knew the answer could give it.
It's one of those mods that gave me a right headache when I first got it too (and again, really sorry I know it's very bad form to interrupt but wanted to spare you both doing what I did and banging my head against the wall when I didn't get how it worked)
(No worries - I specifically left it open for someone to be able to answer the question, I had put the question out to another channel to get an answer)
I might actually have a solution to this if you haven't already figured something out! Do you have a section in your seasonal portraits mod for winter? If so, you may be able to simply copypasta the images from your portrait mod there, and rename them to suit the season. It's a bit tedious, but it should work!
and it works when you load that save in vanilla?
I have not tried that yet, I am using a modded farm layout (grandpas farm) and SDV expanded, so would probably break?

the map layout will break but you should still be able to load the save; Grandpa's still uses the standard farm

You should work on cleaning up your mod list (Particularly the ones in red) - They can still cause odd errors.
As far as the crash - something is causing CJB Item Spawner to freak out in an impressive fashion, which causes a repeated error until SMAPI gives up the ghost and fails.
When it crashes over an item, is it one from Sword and Sorcery?
yeah i think its because of a weapon in my inventory but i cant even click it to remove it
(I assume you removed Sword and Sorcery at some point?)
Might be able to put it back in, delete the item, then save and remove the mod again, but someone else might have a better idea
i dont even remember having a sword and sorcery mod but honestly i went a little mod crazy last year and then didnt play for months, im cleaning up the mess now

I just don't know any command offhand to remove a specific item slot via console, and the fact that it's managing to hard crash the game is somewhat impressive (Though if you were updating from 1.5 to 1.6, it might be that some underlying structures have changed and 1.6 isn't playing cleanly with how the items were originally added)

Hi. I deleted a save file in game that appears to, for some reason, still exist in my save backups within the Stardew file. (Save does not show up in game, but does show me an error message in smapi about not being able to read that file) ... If I delete that file within my most recent save data file, will this fix the issue and permanently delete it? I'm scared to touch files lol (this was suggested earlier but stupidly I named the new save exactly the same as the old one so I had to figure out which was which)
So far it doesn't appear to be affecting anything so if it's safer to just ignore it I can as well
is there a way to know why a mod will fail when smapi says it is not updated and no tcompatible without risking my save?

The UI Info Suite 2 errors can be ignored; it's a known issue and it just means it's dealing with fruit tree logic that's more complicated than it can handle
Not sure about Fruit Tree Tweaks but it seems like a known issue on that mod's bug reports page

Yeah 1.6 introduced some new tiles so any recolor mods that haven't been updated for it are gonna have these types of issues

PurrplingCat.CustomGiftDialogue is the ID of a mod. "Purrpling Cat" is usually the name of the author, and "Custom Gift Dialogue" is the name of the mod.

This is a question more for #modded-stardew but as far as I know (and CJB Item Spawner Docs say) there is no way to spawn that. However, you can make it quickly by || spawning the fish you need bait for, the bait maker, and setting the bait maker to finish instantly in CJB Cheats, so that's an option - set as spoiler as Bait Maker is a 1.6 item ||

Or rather, are you trying to mix and match with CP + AT but are getting vanilla textures only
I tried using idaida as AT Version, But Not even that Shows. Deleted the AT Version, Same Problem. None of the CP Versions works.
The issue started with idaidas CP craftables, then i switched to bogs CP craftables and it worked Last night. Today Same issue with bogs.

Okay I removed "Pick Your Enchantment" and now things are loading
I had to remove "Mastery Extended" earlier since it was crashing earlier and that seemed to have fixed it

HI, im new to the game and modding, just wondering: How do i change the buildings of east scarp to 'Yri' style. I noticed theres a folder in the '[CP] East Scarp' -'asset'-'Tilesheets'-'Yri', i want to change the buildings to this style in my game HELP.
im having an issue where some items appear duplicated, i fixed the one for alpacas and donkeys, but im having the same issue with stardew valley expanded items, since they donโt appear in the shipment page even though i did ship them out
i checked on the item spawner and it appears as two different mods when i checked the look up anything page, one says that the item was added for (CP) Alpaca and another for Alpaca Goods, and for stardew valley expanded it says added by โnew items for stardew valley expandedโ while the other just says the name of the mod

Can you confirm which action caused the crash? Was it taking off the shirt you had on, picking up a different one from invetory (clicking with mouse) or actually equipping it in the shirt slot? (there are a few mods making changes to the textures there and the crash seems to indicate issues with a discarded texture specifically, though it's sadly too vague to tell which one it is)
With the draw function crash errors they often list multiple other mods that utilise that function but those mods are not usually the culprit unfortunately, so it's very likely Dynamic Reflections was just a victim as well.
All of the actions you mentioned can crash the game, I tried disabling Skillful Clothes but it still crashes
In this video, #images-and-memes message I try changing/removing the shirt several times, but after fishing 7 fishes it crashes. It looks like I need to be playing for a few minutes first
Also it used to be a black screen, but on my latest two tests the farmer just disappears before freezing. Idk what changed
And I think the only mod i'm using for clothes is Skillful which is not the culprit

Thanks, that's helpful - the crash taking a while to happen is because SMAPI handles the error multiple times (last log had the same texture error 60+ times) before it is overwhelmed and crashes - I'm going to have a quick run through the code on the mods that show editing the shirt textures so will need a few minutes. In the meantime, could you load back into the game and try changing only pants / hats (don't touche the shirt at all) - it's ok if the game doesn't crash, but take a look at the SMAPI windows and see if there are any more red errors popping up (possibly grab a log again) - just want to check if it's specifically shirt texture or possibly other clothes as well

That is actually a good idea in general as Fish Info Overlay does have some known compat issues (I had to get rid of it as it kept interfering with Alternative Textures) - let me know how it goes

i got to the nexusmods.com and manualy download the SMAPI zip file, i put the SMAPI 4.0.8 installer onto my desktop, i open it and double click the "install on windows.bat" thing in the file, it tries to run the console, and it procedes to close.
ive looked at the wiki for more info, but i havent been able to figure it out, and i have been following the xbox instructions
If I restart the game, it's fine again. But when I go back right from the title, it crashes. That shouldn't happen. I know the mods are updating and functioning, but if any of them are making the game crash for some reason, I would at least like to know why.
did you extract it to your desktop or put it there zipped? do you have any antivirus that could be blocking it & is it on the same drive as your game?
It's weird that I don't see any reports on Nexus about the issue because if it was littleNPCs, I'd expect it to have been reported, but it looks like it's trying to access assets that have been cleaned up.

I've checked my mod folders. The assets all seem to be there and all the dependencies are there. Ok, there are a few children mods I have. I know that Unique children talk is fine, and so is the customizable kids. This has only started happening once the second kid has become a toddler.
But I understand enough in the error log to see that it can't seem to find the assets for LittleNPCAzalea, which is the name of the first kid. But the assets are there. And again, this didn't happen until the second kid became a toddler.
It's something specific to how little NPCs is attempting to handle old assets - It looks like it does a changeover to the "child" version instead of the "firstLittleNPC" version, then tries to access something from the firstLittleNPC when the texture was unloaded by returning to title
It's not so much it can't find the assets as it's trying to invoke an asset that was unloaded, likely from returning to title
Which, short of digging into the code (And I am way too ADHD brain for that right now), suggests that it may not be cleaning up after itself properly
(With permission from Yuki) - Ok, if you're working from an unzipped file, sometimes the .bat file just doesn't play with some people's computers.

Yeah - I've just seen it randomly fail with the same symptoms for some people when installing SMAPI. It's just a few system checks like making sure the file is unzipped, so we can try launching the direct installer.
Is this a problem with Little NPCs mod then? Let me see if I understand this correctly- By going back to the title, the game unloads all the assets. But then LittleNPCs just can't load it again until the game restarts?
I can't say for sure but I think it might be on little NPCs side - And it looks like littleNPCs thinks it's still valid when it's not

Are you going from what was essentially a 1.5 modlist to 1.6?
Some of them have 1.6 variations, others are just dead. Easiest way is to start from an empty modlist (Rename the old Mods folder), then check Nexus for each mod and see if it has a 1.6 version
If you'd rather just stay on 1.5, it's available in Steam as a beta

Ok - What do you want to do specifically? I assume you were on 1.5 if it was before March of this year the last time you played.
You can stay on 1.5 with your current modlist, or go to 1.6, but you'll need to adjust your modlist to be compatible.
currently trying to set up modding, followed all the wiki steps for Windows 11 and Steam correctly but i'm currently getting this message
If it's what I think it is, it's on the mod maker to fix. If I understand the Stardew internals correctly, textures, once loaded, are stuffed in a content manager, and a handler to that asset is given to the mod.
What seems to be happening is that when you hit return to title, littleNPCs doesn't fully clean up the mod data - Returning to title unloads a bunch of stuff from the content manager. When you load the save again, littleNPCs says "Ooh, I have a link to that asset ready, already, I'll use that!" - Except that it was disposed of when the game returned to title.
So, it tries to call on something that no longer exists, the game freaks out, and SMAPI explodes.
if i take away the path text i copied into the launch options, it loads fine, so i'm assuming something went wrong there
You need the " " around the path
Because filepaths with spaces will break without quotation marks indicating it's a single object

That's easy enough to fix - Go to your Stardew Valley directory where the game is installed, click the folder path at the top of the window and you should be able to copy it.
Then your command becomes: "copiedfilepath" %command%

More so that it's trying to call on a reference to the texture, but the texture it refers to has been disposed of

Ok - 1.5 came out in December of 2020, so you were either on 1.4 or 1.5 depending on when you last played.
The mod scene has adjusted heavily since then - a bunch of mods or their requirements were baked into the game, others just no longer work due to game updates.
I would highly recommend starting from an empty mod folder, looking over your old mods, and seeing if you can find a 1.6 version, a replacement, or try something new. #modded-stardew can offer suggestions to replace mods with newer versions / alternatives
Educated guess, but because it's a different save, I'd hope that the mod would try to actually load assets related to the current save - Since it theoretically wouldn't be using a reference to an asset belonging to the original save, it would try to load fresh.
Again, I'm guessing based on what I know of the Stardew internals

You'll get a black console that pops up when you launch Stardew if SMAPI is set up correctly - The xbox app version requires renaming a couple of files to make it happy, though I'm not sure which version you're using.

I think the only way to get it "fresh" right now would be to close the game, then reopen it, since it means littleNPCs will reload everything.
It's an internal variable handling issue, uninstalling and reinstalling the same version wouldn't fix it

Me and my friend have been playing modded 1.6 with around 200-300 mods, and we hit early summer and when he tried to connect it kept giving both of us the message Failed to send message. (k_EResultLimitExceeded). Closing Connection, (k_EResultInvalidParam). Closing Connection
I'm sure it's a mod, or mods..but I can't tell what is causing it! And i'm not sure how to find that out other than having to take them out seperately which would take forever.
Hmm - Can you go to Steam, Stardew Valley, Properties, and take a screenshot of the Steam Cloud info on the first page? (I assume you're on Steam)
Edit: If either of you updated or changed mods and don't match anymore, that can also cause errors, but the k_ errors are Steam related, I believe

Also, when we start a new save we can connect just fine. But at a random time later on in summer it sends what I said previously in the log.

if they're portraiture mods, then put them in portraiture
or change them to xnbs and replace them into content (i already have the whole of content folder copied just in case)

Everything is working perfectly except this darn counter. I have gone through all of the posts on each mod and can't find anyone experiencing the same issue and I'm at my wits end. The offending tile is part of the changing clutter that Industrial Kitchen and Interior does. But that counter should be solid white like the second image. (only difference is house stage in those pics but it does it at all stages of that counter, even tried with clean save new game.)

Yep. Basically anything that was built for older high res portraits needs to be fed through Portraiture now - I'm unaware of any other that's currently 1.6 safe.

Okay so taking out the cosmetic mods didnt change anything, also (this has happened before they added those mods). We are now going to disable those 3 you sent.
We disabled the 3 mods you said, ran and tried to join, then disabled the 2 furniture mods that relied on custom furniture and we are having the same issue.

How that occurs typically at that point would be that the save data is somehow too big to send

My eyes aren't as great as they used to be, but it looks like one of the counter tiles is being overwritten with the cup - The duplicate cups are in spots with identical tiles in the example on the right
I think it just uses GoG for network connection, not for full auth.
No idea how it got lost there, but grab the Noclip mod, press F11? I believe, and walk out there and grab it.

You are correct that is the problem. However I can not understand why this is happening. The mod changes the cup and the kettle above it daily, but whatever item is in the lower slot gets repeated across the counter. I have ruled out other mods conflicting with it.

Follow the suggestion linked; get an invite code, it starts with an S. Change the invite code to start with a G, and have your co-op partner connect via that invite code instead
There's a screen on the co-op menu to join via invite code, it is an alternate way to join instead of the Steam Overlay, and works on Steam

Here is another example on a clean save with only this mod installed. The tile is changed here as it does daily but it still repeats it down the counter.
That implies it's overwriting the wrong section of the tileset - Looking into it
Appreciate it, i checked the asset tilesheets and read through the content.json and cant seem to figure out how it could do this.

You should remove one of the content packs, or ask the authors about compatibility." Am I to remove characters/emily from the content folder? I don't have another mod that changes how emily looks </3

The Config file will appear when you run the game with the mod loaded for the first time. It's will appear inside the "Community Center" mod folder (with the Content and Manifest jsons).
i'll preface this by saying the issues i've noticed upon trying to start a new farm is that the gender neutrality mod doesn't replace the gender icons in the setup portion (not a huge issue, but i figure i should address it in case there are other problems down the line) and the custom cat doesn't show up

yes, run the game once, close, then in the mods folder find the community center mod, open it and you will see a "config.json" file . Open that in a text editor and its configurable options will (should) be obvious.

I think it's a case of poor replacement design - I just compared the modded one against the vanilla tilesheet.
The cup and teabag tiles replace a pair of default wooden counter tiles - Tiles that I suspect are repeated and aren't just used a single time
So the kitchen uses these tiles more then once, but they've been replaced with a tile image that was intended to be used only once
Copy I can just replace that tile with the white countertop and just use the tile above it for the randomization then. Thank you for looking into that.

Hello, have you met the cat in game or are you only on the startup page? Because from what I can see in the files, the mod doesn't actually change their icons on the menu.
Yeah - I could be wrong, but that's my best guess - The tilesheet replaces that entire right hand strip of the farmhouse_tiles, and I think they're used more then once (Just looked and the counter is longer then just the few tiles in the tilesheet so they're definitely reused).
May be a consequence of changes between 1.5 and 1.6 since you're using an unofficial fix.

Thats what I suspected was the cause but didn't know how to look into it. I assume you compare the mods tilesheets to the default farmhouse_tiles and match pixel position? Or would I open both in Tiled?
You'd have to do a map patch (And mapmaking is beyond me, #making-mods-general would be able to help) to redo it, but yeah. There's 3 plain wood tiles in the default tilesheet, and the mod you're using replaces two of them with the cup + teabag
Map making is what ive been getting into to begin mod making I think I can tackle it. Thanks again. My first posts were over there and its a great crowd.
So the hard "fix" would be to change which tiles are used on the counter (And that's a whole other thing), or just copy/paste the 16x8 pixels of plain counter over the teacup/teabag tiles on all 5 tilesheets.
Sorry I couldn't give you a full solution, but at least we know why it's weird.

If you do that, I'd recommend varying the textures slightly, just because a repeating tile tends to be pretty obvious

It should be? I didn't touch anything so I'm not sure why it would randomly be off but I can check
regardless, try again just in case. you can just launch the SMAPI executable from desktop mode

and i reupdated all my mods folder like a few minutes ago but i dont know how to kill the remenants of the mods

worst comes to worse you can do a find file over SDV's directory and see where they're hiding

(though my hunch is that those two folders are nested inside one of your existing folders, like how Stardew Valley Expanded contains several submods inside it. hence my suggestion to search files)
I have a Steam Deck and the logs are still in their usual locations. But then again I've also done some ungodly amount of configuration on it (including setting up an SSH server so I can sync mods between it and my PC) so idk lol

game hard crashed suddenly on me after waking up. Co-op buddy camped out that night.
The log had 1 game error: 18:44:15 ERROR game Can't parse map property 'NightTiles' with value 'AlwaysFront 6 54 908 AlwaysFront 21 54 908' in location 'Railroad': there's no tile at position ({X:21 Y:54}).
Who was hosting? Also need your buddies log, there's nothing obvious in the one you posted.

last stupid question - the game says it's running 20 mods and smapi says it loaded 13. there's 16 mods in my mod folder ;-;
Some folders may contain multiple mods - Stardew Valley Expanded is 3 mods in subfolders, for example

That's awkward, since it probably crashed before it could even try to log. Is it consistent, or was it a one off crash?
This is the first time. I just loaded it up and things are working again.
Ok - It's possible it was a one off crash. If it keeps happening, launch SMAPI through Powershell, get logs from all players involved when it crashed.
Launching through Powershell will hopefully catch any exception when it up and exploded, but no guarantees.

Is it completely vanilla? Or did just the farm go vanilla? Is SMAPI starting up when you launch?
The smapi log is normal. says all the mods loaded. the map is completely blank. no house or cabin or anything. no character either
