it's good to do that every once in a while
hi guys 🥺 I've just started playing 1.6 after waiting for most of my mods for to update but noticed something different about the grass being behind the furniture (lamp) instead of in front like in 1.5. I'm not really sure if this was a vanilla or a modded change after updating them my mods;; but any insight to this or a possible solution would be super appreciated 🫶 🫶

what do you mean? the grass isn't on the same tiles in both pictures

Hey, I removed a mod that added mushrooms to the mushroom boxes, and the mushroom boxes are now producing error items related to that mod. Anyway to fix that?
reverse what you've done, put the mod back in, remove the shrooms, remove the mod again
I did that sort of? i sold all the shrooms i had, then deleted the mod after loading the next day. The mushroom box just made new ones. I did have to delete one stack of an item because I didn't sell it before deleting. Could that be the issue
Well, just trash the error items and move on

hi, i have a problem with a stone floor in greenhouse, ho to fix it ? I've tried adding stone tilesheets to cover it, but it doesn't work.

Does anyone know which game file the status icons for "Blessings of ___" are? They're invisible for me (probably because of my Vintage Interface mod) but I can't find which file it should be placed in
does anybody have a version of the original stardew valley redone updated for 1.6? not the foliage only one, but the original which includes the grass and dirt retextures? i have been using the original ever since i started modding stardew and really dont want to switch mods

Hello my coop game has stopped working
We can play through the day but when we sleep to the next day it gets stuck on waiting for other players 2/2...
The original creator pulled the mod from everything for a reason, so I doubt they'd update it or permit anyone else to do so.

A secret forest walk should start automatically once you enter the secret woods in the first days of fall, there's no specific entrance you need to find

Hello 🙂 i am using the Machine Progressing Mod. How can i add that custom items work with upgraded version of for example the charcoal kiln? I got dust sprites in my coop. And the coal clumps dont work with The silver charcoal kiln. Ty for help

I have a question. How can I join to the game of my friend who is playing vanilla without deleting my mods and the save I'm playing with?
Because whenever I boost SV, mods also automatically start to boot and I can not join to the my friend's server due its vanilla

You can still play the vanilla game after having installed SMAPI. There's a few approaches:
- In your game folder, run
StardewValley.exedirectly. - Or if you're playing through Steam or GOG on a Windows device: clear your launch options, then select play from your game client. See the
!launchoptionscommand for more info. - Or change the name of your
Modsfolder to something else. Then launching the game will run SMAPI but with no mods loaded. - Or set up SMAPI as a custom game in Steam. See the
!modgroupscommand for more info.
So long as you don't try to load and save your modded save while playing vanilla, it'll be fine
hi, I'm not exactly sure what to do here, I've been updating my mods and i never sent a log before but i thought i would because I've been getting a bunch of errors and i don't know if they are from mods i haven't taken out yet (due to not being updated, i know there's a lot of skipped mods in the log). There's a mod you have that patches FellowClown's stuff but does it in a way that conflicts with the up-to-date mod versions; this is causing A Lot of errors

You have Traveling Dreamer which is way out of date and conflicts with A New Dream, which is the new version of that mod.
Does anyone have experience with adding modded bags to the Item Bags mod? I dropped the files into the correct folder, but the smapi log doesn't list the Nature's Bounty bag as loading. All the others are there, though, and the file for the bag is in the folder with the other bag files.

Hmm normally the issue people face with coop is disconnection. Could you add this mod to both of your mod lists: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/6609 and post the new log? It tells you info about whether there's mismatched mods or some underlying multiplayer issues occuring

So I'm kind of confused about something. I'm trying to install Mail Framework, but I'm getting error messages saying that the mod isn't installed. I checked the compatibility page for Android and it says 1.15 is the version to use, but it's somehow not even reading as present?
hello, i'm currently encountering a problem downloading the mod "better crafting" in my Mods folder. It's indicating that there are existing items in my Mods file that "better crafting" has. I'm not sure if I should overwrite them (as I cannot figure out where those already existing items came from, I already checked if I already have the mod downloaded before but nope). I need help, TIA!

ah, no. i apologize for the confusion. it's not a problem in smapi. it's just once I move the downloaded mod (Better Crafting mod folder) in my Mods folder, it indicates that there are some already existing files in my folder (meaning, some files on the better crafting mod already exists in my Mods folder). I double checked if I already downloaded better crafting mod before, but no.
is it better if i move this question in the technical support? i'm not entirely sure

I'm not really sure what to tell you though. You're copying the whole folder and not just all the files in the folder, yeah? If so, you should already see a folder named Better Crafting in your mods folder that it's trying to overwrite.
ah, that's alright. thank u for the help anyways! and yeah, that seems to be the problem. as I've said and double-checked, there's no existing folder named "better crafting" but it's trying to overwrite another files from another mod folder. anywho, I think I have to figure this bit out on my own. thank you for the willingness to help! appreciate it xx
Just an update on this. 1.14 is compatible, not 1.15.
the problem seems to be that the better crafting mod has the same file name/s as the smart building mod :/ dk how to make it work so that they can co-exist in the same mods folder

Remove all the files, install both mods again.
I have both in my game for ages now and they work perfectly fine together.
Have you installed them properly? You'd have to have a Smart Building and a Better Crafting folder inside your mods folder. Not the direct mod files, which would obviously clash as every sdv mod has a manifest.json (and most also a content.json and a config.json)
I'm on android but when I click "save backup", the game doesn't save anything and I'm forced to restart the whole day, what problem is this?

thank you for this input! and yeah, i do have a respective folder for both. although, i've found like an option to keep both files but it will automatically add a number in the end of the files that is a copy (of the name). will that cause any problems with the mods?
Well, you install the mod twice then. And that could break smapi I imagine. Get rid of any copies or backups

Hey so, I installed the Tiny Farmhouse mod on a pre-existing save, and some things arent quite right. Like there's still windows where they were before, just existing in the void, and my dog likes to noclip through the walls
Is there any way to fix this?
Remove the mod again, pick up your furniture and stuff, save the game, install the mod again.

So I've been trying to mod since last night and I need help.
So the mod I want to use hasn't been updated and it stated it could only be played on the legacy 1.5.6 version. And the SMAPI couldn't be the latest version but the SMAPI 3.18.6 which states that it's for legacy 1.5.6 player. And the content patcher for it has to be 1.30.4 since it requires the SMAPI 3.18.1 or later. Now with that being said I installed those mods along with the other mods it said I needed however it wouldn't launch and it would say something failed to load. It would also say that the dialog mod was an empty folder which brought me to a world of new problems.
I tried to unzip it, extract it and everything. It either continued to duplicate and remainder zipped which in turn I guess meant it was still empty. I removed and re installed the mods and it just isn't working and I was up till 2am trying to work it.
Now for some reason it launches but it now just says my folder is empty and I've looked up videos and I still don't get it. I can't understand what it means to add something to a mod folder and copy it into something else and I have a headache.
Which mod are you trying to use? Most have an equivalent or similar in 1.6 for a bit now
Also, you don't install smapi like a mod. You run the installer.

I have mods in the game but my hoe is gone? Idk if this has to do with a mod or not and IDK what to do
The only one for me dialog and story mod for Sebastian which is the 2nd file out of the 3 available. I got the SMAPI installed and everything else is fine it's just that my folder is still empty despite the fact that I've already extracted.
It won't launch and it tells me there was an unhandled expectation which is the first time it's said that. I was following the instructions and I got stuck on the file part. It talked about my game folder but I'm dumb so the words aren't making any sense.
So I checked the mod page out of curiosity
Why is my spouse in the void?
They will hang around in the void occasionally because technically the spouserooms (if disabled) and kitchen are beneath black tiles that hide them. They should be able to make their way around the house normally and other days they will spawn within the house or on the farm. Simply re-enable their rooms or go about your day. There's nothing I can do about this
Hello! All of the sudden my building retextures stopped working and I'm baffled because it was working just fine before. I'm using this one https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4542 and a few others from the same mod author, replacing obelisks and grandfather's clock.
The config says it's all replaced, and on SMAPI nothing seems to be wrong but my buildings, grandfather's clock and obelisks stay vanilla. Can someone help me please? This is my smapi log: https://smapi.io/log/c4548b3b4c2c404998765a52cdf61b2c

How do I make it, so that red mushrooms go to the first chest, and every other mushroom to the second?
Im using filtered hoppers but it doesnt seem to work correctly, I might be doing something wrong
Have you tried using their left-to-right hopper chain instead of using a path to connect them?

Yeah, should I just put 2 hoppers next to eachother, one with red mush filter and the other with everything else, and a chest under it?
I wouldve thought that the chests would connect eachother if they are right next to eachother
As in path to chest will put all mushrooms into the chest, and then 3 hoppers side-by-side will pull the appropriate items down

Because having the extra path might make all of that part of the same automate network. Not sure how it works exactly, but could be the cause
Making everything part of the same automate network woudl allow automate to push directly into the hopper instead of going to the chest first
I don't think so because the mod specifically mentions pulling from the chest above
So under the leftmost chest, have the first hopper and a chest below it, then do two more hoppers and a chest below the third

I'm trying to mod on android on a google pixel 4a, and I'm pretty sure I did everything right but the smapistardew app won't launch at all, even with no mods installed yet. Any suggestions?

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

That happens sometimes when you haven't downloaded/installed the mod completely (mod managers or antivirus/firewalls can cause that sometimes) or you overwrote files instead of deleting the old version of the mod first.
Anything further would need a log to nail down a solution.
How do I get the log?

hello, a friend of mine is having a problem while trying to launch the smapi version
the game starts normally but after the creator logo the game simply crashes
we tried using the smapi version but without any mod to see if it was something to do with the mods but it crashed anyways(srry for bad english :p)

Hmmmm.... long shot but when was the last time your friend restarted their computer?
Sometimes leaving the computer in sleep mode instead of fully shutting down can cause memory issues that lead to random crashes that don't show up in the log
What exactly is the issue? Like, what behavior are you seeing in game?
could some one help me out with smapi console commands I think I'm missing something obvious. I want to spawn a ostritch to test a mod and Debug Animal Ostrich isn't working for me.
Can you show us exactly what you're typing into the console and what it's spitting in response? A screenshot will be good enough in this case I think
a few days ago my friend had started having an issue with joining my game after he re-installed windows, and it seems so te be connected to spacecore somehow, because we both have same mods installed and he can only join when i (the host) delete spacecore from my mod folder. otherwise his game just closes while joining multiplayer. i asked him for an error log but he said this was the only file in his crash folder. the crash seems to occur even if he has the latest version of both json and spacecore in his mods folder and i just don't understand why, can someone tell me if there's anything we can do to fix this? here's his mod folder
edit: the screenshot does not include the love of cooking mod alpha, because we tried to join after deleting it with no success

You don't want a crash log for the vanilla game. You want a parsed smapi log
And we would want logs from both of you

i'm actually wondering the same, but he says there are no smapi crash logs located in that path
A log should be generated every time he launches the game, not just when it crashes. If there is no log, he's not launching smapi

It's difficult to say, bc the crash actually doesn't appear in the log. Can you get her to restart her computer just in case?

The problem was, (husband was helping me) instead of putting all the files in through Steam, he was right clicking on the stardew shortcut and dropping it in those files. So I dunno, for some reason that wasn't working until I dropped everything in through steam.

When two mods edit the same dialogue or images, whichever edit is applied last "wins" and is the one you see in the game.
If the mods don't set edit priorities (which most don't), that order is mainly determined by the order the mods were loaded by SMAPI. You can change that mod load order to influence the edit order.
in game version 1.6 it's a bit more complex because content patcher mods can have edit specific priorities that take priority over manifest.json dependencies i think
in any case you need to modify some parts of the mods, or possibly set the load order in smapi's config file

I could be wrong, but it's likely because you're using Mobile Phone Continued, which has a different mod ID from the original Mobile Phone
Whether the mods depending on it will work on 1.6, I don't know, but you could try swapping out

in the manifest.json dependencies for Ridgeside Mobile Phones. Your mileage may vary, it's going to depend on whether the mod has the same access and whether it's compatible with 1.6

hi so my friend and i are trying to play modded stardew valley together and we tried this a few weeks ago and it didnt work. her computer was just not letting her open smapi (she has a macbook, we were trying it on her imac that day though). idk if this is needed but, she was downloading the smapi file from a mega folder i had sent her with all the mods i had added. when we tried to boot up smapi on her imac, it kept telling us its from an unidentified developer and we did go to her settings and enable the setting that allows you to open files from unidentified developers but it still didnt work. idk what were supposed to do but we really wanna play stardew modded together. (also, i thought it might be that shes downloading it from the mega file and not nexus mods but i have no idea)

Hello, I'm having an interesting smapi error. When I click on a recipe from the dwarven expansion the entire UI gets small and shifts left instead of crafting. Everything is up to date to my knowledge. the orniothologist mod error is from a personal mod. https://smapi.io/log/1075de5393934c4887eece8528c20ed9 the rest of my recipes are working great and these recipee have worked well in the past. I have also removed all newer mods that could have been the issue to no avail.

Is there any way for me to fully reverse a decision I made in a cutscene? I'm playing Ridgeside and I want to make Bryce and Faye dateable but I unknowingly made the wrong choice in a cutscene. I have the event lookup and event repeater mods, I "forgot" the cutscene (Faye's 6 heart event), replayed it and chose differently, but it still isn't letting me unlock them. I think I have to open my save file and work some magic but have no idea how to make those moves. Any advice?

ive been using GH peach body for a while too, ive found that the only things that can really mess it up is the config not being properly set or the shoes in FS

I don't suppose anyone knows anything about how Sprites in Detail can be made to work with other mods like NPC Map Locations? I've upscaled Haley's sprite, but because the upscaled sprite sheet is set up very differently than vanilla, her head icon for the map is now distorted and very incorrectly placed as can be seen here - her head icon is up where the mouse cursor is while she's actually in her house with Emily. (Changing Map Locations' icon offset setting for her was also necessary to make her visible in the first place as it was pointing to empty space before)
also a quick question since you use the mod, do you know how to change the eyes? I currently have the smaller eyes

installed save anywhere to try to fix my original problem which was that it was crashing when I slept. I thought at first that it was because my computer was overheating or something so at the very least I would be able to save like halfway through a day and not loose the whole day. Then I started getting the problem that sometimes the mod would get stuck and wouldnt save
hm yeah save anything is more likely to corrupt than to help. I'll look at your log more closely in a couple minutes, there's some mods in there that are outdated and wrongly installed, maybe we can get this solved already with removing them

sorry, that was a couple more minutes than planned. I'd recommend you delete sword and sorcery, and also the always raining in the valley folder and do fresh installs as you have old parts of those hanging in your mods folder. possibly due to incorrect updating, you'll want to delete mods and not overwrite them

Beyond that UIInfoSuite is trying to render the Tool Upgrade Status tooltip, I do not know. First guess is bad mod install, try deleting and reinstalling. But since I see at StardewModdingAPI.Framework.Events.ManagedEvent`1.Raise(TEventArgs args) in SMAPI\Framework\Events\ManagedEvent.cs:line 101 I thought i'd mention Event Tester too. Okay so firstly I am SO sorry for how janky this is - I'm too poorly to sit up and get the logs from my steam deck to PC.
Secondly, does it look like the Better Beehives crash was something I did wrong? Or should I report it to the author? Also can I play the game without it working or do I need to remove the mod before I can play?

we'd need the whole log to answer this. I could suggest a few possibilities how to get the log from steam deck to here without having to go to your PC (I have personal experience with that due to being bedbound and using a steam deck as my main entertainment :D). You either need any application that you can access from both steam deck and phone (assuming you took the picture with your phone); like a messenger or something so you could copy paste the url in there and access it on your phone - or you could simply open discord in the web browser on the steam deck and copy paste the URL of your log directly to this channel

Odd, there's so sign of a crash in your log. Most times I've seen that it's been related to a memory issue. Could you try restarting your device?

Ok, I'm also seeing you don't have the default mods smapi comes with installed. Did you delete those?
okay so the yellow errors shouldn't impact your game - it says a patch isn't being applied, which means a mod isn't able to change what it's supposed to change. in this case, it seems like it's targeting five base game items it can't find. so the effect would only be that the mod might not work on all items you might expect it to work on.
the beehouses mod...I found a bug report on the page that lists your exact error message, and the mod author basically can just say that it's caused by another mod taking away beehouse output. I am not sure what that could be in your mods
did the crash impact your game in any way?
console comands and saveback up?? i remove them when i try removing all the mods to see if would work and forgot to put back on,.. i evven tried only having the default mods on but still nothing

Yeah, we need to be able to see the crash in the log in order to help
if you are experiencing issues, both forage fantasy and bait maker - quality matters edit the same file as better beehouses, before better beehouses does it. so should the error persist and cause problems, I'd try taking those mods out first to see if that helps.

The error is actually with starting a new day (though it does mention Alternative Textures and SVE Code). But let’s knock out the easy stuff first:
- Go to your log and update your mods in yellow (see screenshot below)
- Delete No Fence Decay. Use CJB Cheats instead, it has an option that does the same thing.
- Grab a fresh log by reloading the save to the same point where the crash happened before (i.e. sleeping after ||green rain||) and submit it here.

Hmm I would try deleting and reinstalling the both Readers Digest for 1.6 & lumisteria's clumps and nodes and also verify your stardew valley files themselves

Please reset your game files. This will fix any broken game files, but won't affect your save files or mods.

You're more likely to get help with people in #making-mods-general however since it relates to an error with a mod it still is technically relevant here, what's the issue? You may just be able to download another sprite replacer mod for Shane/any character and just change it to fit with Shane

It's been updated for 1.6, make sure you have the latest version. However if it's still not working delete the mod and then do a fresh reinstall of the latest version
I don't know if you're still around, Farmer Sticky, but I'm wondering if you might know why I got Portraiture only 1/2 way working (on Bea's advice). I followed Bea's steps and now when I press "P" in the dialogue boxes at portrait does change (finally) but it changes to a blank box with nothing but the character's shadow showing up. Any chance you know why this is?

I've just always had Seasonal Cute Characters since I started modding last year. This is the first time I've attempted a portrait mod
You can hack it together by creating 4 sets of folders (MyPortraitSpring, MyPortraitSummer, MyPortraitFall, MyPortraitWinter), but you'll have to manually switch between collections if you really want to do that

When two mods edit the same dialogue or images, whichever edit is applied last "wins" and is the one you see in the game.
If the mods don't set edit priorities (which most don't), that order is mainly determined by the order the mods were loaded by SMAPI. You can change that mod load order to influence the edit order.
can you take a screenshot of what you put in the manifest.json?
so you'll want to put the dependency only in one of the mods - in the blue grass one, because that's the one you want to load after the pink one. also you need to change the "UniqueID" for the cotton candy recolour back to "PinkStations.CottonCandyRecolor"
the cotton candy recolor doesn't need to get touched at all, only the blue grass one needs the dependency

you're telling blue grass "you depend on this mod to be there to work", so blue grass looks for cotton candy recolor and loads in after it has seen the cotton candy recolor
(what you wrote is telling blue grass to look for itself and pink cotton candy to look for itself as well so that's not going to change anything)

Hey guys....Is anyone else having problems donating some things to the center using mods? For example, I went to foar fire quartz and for the game it's like it wasn't that item so I couldn't donate it
So I want the buildings from Cotton Candy recolor, however the grass, water, etc., hurts my eyes. So I want the grass and stuff to be Bluegrass recolor. Like, I just want only the CCR buildings to stay and have Blue Grass overwrite everything else. Idek if that's possible.
If it's not possible through dependencies I could probably try to modify Cotton Candy to only have the buildings or smth?
yeah I just realised the problem seems to be that both are full recolours, the blue grass name fooled me 😂

Hi, I was trying to downgrade my game to legacy 1.5.6 on Mac but the issue is when I try to download the smapi version it doesn’t install at all. Even when I tried to manually install smapi, the game wont even open. Is there something I’m doing wrong?

hi i started playing yesterday and how do i get out of this in the hand mirror mod, i think i clicked view fashion sense packs and I cant get out of it. sorry if this is a silly question lol
is there something i can do to fix this. i don't know what may be doing this?

is there a way to make the multiplayer run a little better? my boyfriends trying to run it with his phone internet and his computer internet and it keeps dcing or im standing in the middle of a field when im somewhere else
sadly only getting a better internet connection. I wouldn't know anything else to help
anyone know why my mods wont show up when i load smapi?
i have about 5 in my mod folder but none of them are working..
are they extracted and are you using vortex

get 7zip free sw and just extract the mods in the mod folder
it's a program that lets you extract compressed files

Delete AGE and redownload. There is nothing in the folders
something went wrong when you either download it or extract the zip folder

also a lot of the mods needs to updated, but i am not sure every mod you have is updated 1.6 right now
Does anyone have experience with Item Bags? I keep getting errors for it, as well as a few warnings for other mods. I'm still learning so I would love if anyone could explain how to fix the errors, as well as perhaps assist with warnings in my smapi log.

this looks like a different language to me 
I also think this is why my craft menu bugs out after crafting any single item; I fix it by opening the settings via a button on the right side
can yoiu get another log for that
so looking at your original log it looks like youre running both WAG and cornucopia which according to the comments of item bags breaks the item bags mod, can you try disabling one of the two and seeing if it works then?
running cornucopia artisan machines and wildflours florist at the same time apparently breaks item bags
the 3.0.8. beta in the comments SHOULD resolve it but i am not sure as i dont use the mod myself
it did resolve it for me but tbh i didn't get a single item bag and i am in spring year 1
the mod page says theyre a pretty rare drop if youre not buying them from the shops so if youre that early in the game that makes sense
i did disable them from shops hoping rng goddess will look at me with walk to the desert mod
I ate the item bags up like candy after installing

I completely forgot the issue was with the ITEM BAGS mod
LMFAOOO youre fine! CAM and WAG run fine together, item bags just does not play nice with them for some reason
Oh right, manifests 🤣 Does SMAPI have a manifest or file it compiles the load order into or is this gonna require editing each individual mod manifest no matter what?
And followup: anyway to pipe the mod load order directly from SMAPI?
Comfortable with coding, unfamiliar with SMAPI & Stardew’s stack
it does not "compile" the load order, it figures it out on launch. adding dependencies to manifests isn't hard, but without dependencies, SMAPI defaults to the system's file order, which I believe is usually by folder name. (this is NOT the same as the order files are listed in the file browser.)
Hello, while updating mods is there any way to fast safe configs?
you can't pipe in a specific order of mods, but you can change what folder it looks in
stardrop can do that if you use profiles but it's finnicky about it sometimes. Otherwise, not really, aside from just doing it manually or overwriting the folder instead of delete + replace
currently using stardrop and premium nexus so i guess i just need to set it up

playing expanded, im in my first year of spring 22, it literally rained for the oast day or two and moss is super scarce! i foraged all over yestderday in the rain and only found 5 trees with moss. I'm looking around now, the day after the rain, and it's also super scarce. is this a thing with expanded?
It says it's on 1.0.3 already

No, that's just terrible luck, I suspect. I've had springs with great rain and moss, and other springs where it basically never rains.
Get the item bags beta from the comments then and share your log with them inckuding thw CAM version

Hey everybody! I've been playing the Walk of Life mod and have been trying out the Space Core Luck Mod for it, but it doesn't seem to be gaining experience throughout the day (using Experience Bars to track). Is this common?

Are there any official/unofficial updates for this mod anywhere? The lack of music during rain makes it feel so empty and I feel like this would make them feel a lot more alive. Alas, like a lot of other good music mods, it doesn't seem to be working as of right now
