Have you redownloaded the SMAPI installer since turning off your antivirus?
Also, I saw you got it from the GitHub originally, maybe the NexusMods file will work if that one didn't? (longshot, I know, but it's been the issue before for someone else)
Yes, I turned off antivirus THEN grabbed the installer
One from Nexus didn't work either, I tried that yesterday
I ran a python script to try and fix the error with multiplayer, and instead it killed my whole save file
The error was this farmer belongs to another player, and tried to run the friendship bracelet python script
I have five mods but none of them is causing this.
I think the cmd prompt not working is the real issue. I will circle back after I solve that

I there a particular reason you used a script to fix the farmer error? It's relatively easy to edit the save to remove the userID attached to a farmhand.
@modest grail because I could not find the user ID needed, this one was supposed to automatically fix it, but apparently it may have deleted my own userid attached to the farm
I've not even heard of that script, but then I avoid running untrusted scripts.
Ran "sfc /scannow" in command prompt as Admin. It fixed several files. I rebooted an SMAPI installed fine. Trying SDV now!

I had looked at guides and such but I just could not figure it out in written form where to look. It's like look up the farmers name then look at next instance of I'd, but the next instance wasn't what I needed
Well, you should be able to rollback your save, if you have your old save files handy

Modded: SMAPI creates backups of your save files as dated zips stored in the save-backups folder inside your Stardew Valley folder (as long as you didn’t delete the Save Backup mod). Named as the date they were generated, they can be used to roll back a save beyond just the previous day, which could help escape especially persistent save corruption at the cost of in-game progress. Download the zip and follow steps 3 and 4 in this guide.
Important first step though: If editing a save, turn off cloud save syncing first

And if it's empty, then it's already not affixed to a player so anyone can join to 'claim' that farmhand

Then you may have to just delete their cabin and build them a new one to resolve it, because his ID definitely would NOT be before <farmhand>, the one before it is yours.
Sadly that means he'd lose all his character progress, though

Then try building him a new cabin and removing the old one. Deleting the old one should let him rejoin as a new character.

New cabin should be all that's needed, ideally.
Just make sure he's logged out so you can delete the old and add the new

can someone help me with the Love of Cooking (alpha) mod? idk if it's not working or if i just don't know how to use it.
i got the Cookbook in the mail, the book and frying pan are in my wallet, but i can't cook anywhere but my own kitchen and don't see the new cooking menu (i tried cooking at my kitchen and i looked in the crafting section). i also tried updating the mods that seemed most relevant

You need to make your profile first. If you already have mods, move them all first into the Stardrop folder within your game's Mods folder.

If you've put your mods into the Stardrop Installed Mods folder, you'd be able to check/uncheck them via Stardrop.

Hello, everyone! I'm about to pull my hair out trying to figure out what exactly is causing my game to stutter and lag. I run a lot of mods, but I haven't had issues until downloading a few the other day; adding Wildflour's Atelier Goods, Forage of Ferngill, a mod that adds a flower syrup maker, as well as the new Cornucopia - Artisan Machines mod. Since then, my game is basically unplayable due to the drop in frames/stuttering that makes the game able to play basically every other second. The main menu runs smooth, and the stuttering only happens when I load my main save and the day loads up.
I've went through trying to troubleshoot which specific mods could be causing the issue; however, it appears that different mod combinations will cause the stuttering. I first thought it was the Artisan Machines mod, as my game doesn't stutter when it's disabled and stutters when it's enabled. This proved incorrect when I only had the Cornucopia mods (as well as those listed on the mod page's description as compatible). So now I'm at a total loss.

Edit: I also have no clue what I'm doing as far as the errors with the modded Item Bags, as I tried to add several bags into the Item Bags folder but can't seem to find the ones for Nature's Bounty and Chocobo Valley....

Hello, i played SVE with friends, i had to change PC, downloaded mods there but it says NO AVAILABLE CABINS, but it's the same stem ID. WHat could be tre problem
https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/12135 this mod can catch what is causing the problem and log it, just load a save with the mod installed and walk around/idle for at least few in-game hours
otherwise automate coupled with modded items/machines/machine rules has been problematic in the past (you can configure how often it tries to automate things in its config.json file)
Thank you! I will check this out now. I'll also try turning off automate to see if it still stutters with the rest of the mods.
EDIT: So it appears that the following mod was the issue. Profiler was going crazy with the Automate ticks, so I tried turning the original off, it was still stuttering. Then I turned off a second automate ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5038 ) and no stutter. I had originally downloaded Durin's Rest but then decided to uninstall it (as it's currently not updated for 1.6). I don't think I actually need this second automate mod since I don't have DR.

does anyone else have the issue with socializing skill getting stuck and not gaining exp or leveling?
@worn marsh Heyy, I'm the one that messaged on Nexus about the lagging issue and thinking it was the new Cornucopia mod. After digging around some more (and using the Profiler mod listed above), I think I narrowed down the issue to having way too much stuff in my shed chest. Disabling PFMAutomate fixes the lag, while disabling Automate itself doesn't fix it. Looking at the page for Automate, it gives information on how there can be lag if a chest is full (even though there's no limit to the chests in my game). Removing items and putting them into separate chests made my game run as it should.

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.
there was like 1 guy doing it and android stardew updated many many many times and Every Time it broke android smapi
I'll be going in later to see if it's an issue with the chests. At the moment, I'm putting all goods that can be processed (aside from kegs and casks) in a single chest in my shed, but there's a LOT of unprocessed goods at the moment clogging up the chest. If anything, I'll split up the contents between three different chests to lower the load. But at least now I know which mod to look at exactly. It's so weird that a handful of mods are seeming like the issue, especially while testing a bunch of stuff yesterday. I'm definitely thankful for you pointing me in the direction of this server! And now to finally enjoy Artisan Machines later when I'm home!

The issue is the fact that half the mods are said to be duplicates. Are they duplicates? No.

Additionally all these mods were all redownloaded less than an hour ago
I've checked. There's no alternate copies. Any alternate versions have been purged from my hard drive.
And yet the consistent issue is saying that I have multiple copies installed.
When I don't. I factually do not. Besides the ZIP Installation folders there are no... wait I think I know the issue

Heya folks, I need help with PolyamorySweet. I changed the bed size in the config to 2 because it looked silly when i only had one spouse, but now i've been trying to change it back but it won't actually change. How do I return it to normal? I need the big bed for my husband and wife 😭
Why is the smapi game crashing. The base game is at 1.5.6.52. the requirement for running the smapi is 1.5.6.39

the best answer we can give you is "play the unmodded game and wait for an update to android SMAPI", or alternately "purchase the game again for PC to play with mods"

It would take me more than 2 years to play the unmodded version. I only use the console commands to make it easier a bit by just getting the money as much as possible and start from there on the modded version. So by the time I done the modded. I can strategize a bit on how to efficiently play the unmodded

you need to put 3 instead
that setting takes only integers
I did have just 3 before and it still didn't work; I added the .0 as a last ditch effort

I just remembered that I put in 3 a while ago and was pleasantly surprised it did not stretch the bed but kept the regular bed look, so it could very well be that this is a thing where the bed only gets bigger with higher numbers than 3

It's odd because I thought it was supposed to grow with spouses automatically but when I married Leah, well... Now elliott (my keyboard wont let me capitalise that, ugh) has to sleep standing

Can you both check your mod config options for the Hilltop farm and make sure that they are the same? The log is suggesting your friend is trying to load the Quarry for Aimon's Small Hilltop Farm and can't, which means they might be mismatched configs.

The weird thing about that is that we're not even using that farm layout. But it's very possible that the config is mismatched, I'll check that

that won't fix the issue, but I recommend deleting SAAT and json assets as none of your mods use them and they're outdated with the current version. I'm gonna look closer at your log now

If you're sure you're not using the Hilltop farm at all, it may be worth removing or disabling that mod for now (you can often just put a . in front of the mod folder's name to deactivate it, if you're not using a mod manager), in case it's causing an issue. Aimon's Small Hilltop Farm also has a pending update, which might fix the issue completely if it's triggering when it isn't supposed to be.
(stardrop recognises folders with periods and leaves them out if the setting is set to do so)

your log lists an error that I tend to see when a save is a little jumbled up - this doesn't mean it's completely lost at all, we just might have to reset a day. I'd like you to verify your game files first, sometimes that helps already (follow the following instructions from the command)

were you able to reproduce the error with just those two mods and their dependencies installed? I usually do that to be completely sure, and then the only thing left to do is report the bug and wait for a fix usually :(

I can't tell if this is a me and my mods problem, but I've been finding duplicate NPCs everywhere and do not know how to fix it.

oh no! you can type "debug killnpc name" into the smapi console, replacing name with the character that's doubled, and then hitting enter
(This is a known issue from previous versions of SVE, you can use debug killnpc <name> to get rid of the dupes.)

Bit of a complex question:
My friends and I have a multiplayer modded world but one said friend plays on a MAC and we discovered some issues that are being caused by the mod load order.
Essentially, the MAC OS prioritizes program files differently and results in a different load order so even renaming the mods doesn't really help.
Has anyone ever run into this problem before and have a suggested work around?

There are original game assets that are missing or corrupted. You didn't by chance add in any mods that asked you to replace Content files, did you?

It's definitely recommended to always delete and add in the new, because not all updates are straight file replacements. Some make significant changes, which can lead to extraneous files or crumbs hanging out, which confuses SMAPI.

I learned that the hard way which is why I did it right this time, or at least I thought I did?

other than fixing the mod issue which I'll get to next, I'd recommend a bit of cleanup in your mods folder: delete error handler, pytk lite, tiny discoveries in the depth, chunky discoveries in the depth. the first two are obsolete, the latter two need to be updated to be usable with content patcher and won't work like this anymore

Any1 have a fix for UI mismatch for Better Crafting's trash recovery feature? Can't access the trash through its icon. Instead, it's in the first row and 6th slot of my inventory. UI scale @ 105%

I'd recommend as a first try of a fix to remove stardew valley expanded from your mods folder, manually, and then downloading it fresh and installing it manually as well, meaning you unzip the freshly downloaded folder and drag it into the mods folder by hand

Ok that's weird, Lassa. I know that there are some odd visual things re: SpaceCore & harvesting, but I've not seen it where crops are essentially duplicated. Are these vanilla Starfruit?
vanilla starfruit, vanilla tomatoes. I also had it with the hops yesterday or so. But didn't put too many thoughts into it and just thought I forgot to harvest them, but apparently they regrew right afterwards

stardrop sometimes doesn't remove those folders from the list of folder links, so those loose files usually are mods that have indeed been completely removed

(in the log where it tells you "mods go here" when you open a game through stardrop, you can find the path to where stardrop saves the links/connections to the mods it uses and there are the loose files most likely (I say most likely because I only ever checked on steam deck))

the only time I ever get regrowth that quick is when I have cjb cheats menu controls set to the wrong buttons so there's instant growth when I push a button ... but that only works on seeds not yet grown or plants with multiple harvests so I assume that's not your thing

i updated that one and all of the other mods i could find an update for but even though i have the cookbook and frying pan in my wallet and the mod shows up in mod config and without Smapi errors, i can't seem to get the new cooking menu to show up?
i've never used Love of Cooking before so it's possible i'm just missing how to bring up the menu? i thought it should work when i interact with a kitchen but maybe not

Delete the mod folder (CP) Farmer Portrait Emotions

I left the outdated mods in incase they update, so SMAPI will alert me next time I look at the log

As for you waiting for updates:
Anything JA related or DGA related can be removed. Both mods are practically dead. JA is on lifesupport for mods still needing it but neither of them are a thing anymore in 1.6

manifest error would result in smapi telling you there's an update when there is none. It doesn't cause a mod to break entirely

Cause SVE characters have been doubling for as long as I've had the mod
Yeah. It was supposedly fixed with one of the game's updates but apparently not.
If you go to SMAPI, you can debug kill (NPC) to get rid of the clone
If you accidentally kill them all, one respawns the next day, I think
As for removing mods, it's usually save.
Not sure why you'd want to downgrade a mod but that should (?) be fine as well as long as it's still compatible with your smapi and other mods.

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.
At a glance, it honestly could just be that you guys don't have matching mod lists

You can mod your multiplayer games, but to avoid any hiccups, all players' mod lists need to match. If players have too many mismatched mods, you will experience bugs in your game - even if the mods were working fine earlier, there is no guarantee that they will stay that way, and strange things may start occurring.
There are a few exceptions to this - cosmetic mods usually work fine with no glitches, and some C# mods work as well. The main mod page often includes information on whether or not they work in multiplayer. However, in general, your mod lists should match exactly.

Hmm, looking at the second line, it sounds like something interfering with the game's ability to create/edit/save her save file and that's what's preventing her game from being able to progress

Can you have her restart her computer and then try launching it again

- Shop Expander (entoarax is dead for ages now, also vanilla feature)
- ui info suite 2 (you installed some translation files but not the mod)
- wizard's mystical stationary (that mod has been dead for years by the looks of it)
- Yoba coin content pack
Those either need a now dead framework or are obsolete. No idea about the other half of your list and I'm too tired to check what they do, and if there's replacements

Another way to figure it out if you're really stuck is to google what smapi calls it + "nexus" then go to the files and "preview file contents" to see the folder names that way. Pretty roundabout but works if you're really lost
It's also only very rarely that the folder name and the manifest name are entirely different.

Hi everyone! I was trying to use the cooking console command in smapi and I keep getting an error saying that the command doesn't exist. This is my first time using console commands so I was wondering if I was doing something wrong. Running Smapi 4.0.8

Okay, so before anybody is going to be able to help, you're going to have to do a bit of cleanup please. Update yellow, delete red. Once you do, see if the issue resolves itself (it very well might) and if not, submit a new log and it'll be much more possible to find the culprit.
Okay, I'm not seeing any errors relating to the bus. So lets start by deleting obsolete frameworks: PYTK (platonymous toolkit), SAAT, TMXL Toolkit, JSON Assets, and Shop Tile Framework (STF) (looks like you have leftovers from old SVExpanded 14.18 for JSON and SAAT and STF which you shouldnt need anymore)
Once you've done that, relaunch, see if the bus works, then submit that new log please

That looks fine. So sadly it looks like it might be a bit more complicated. Let me get some real basic questions out of the way so someone else can take over more easily. (1) You've unlocked the bus (via CC or Joja)? (2) What time ingame are you at the bus stop?

I'm playing a map called 'farm extended" (with expanded) and whenever i use the shortcut it has to the secret woods I enter fine but I'm in the default secret woods not Stardew Expanded version. Also whenever I enter from the default entrance in Cindersap Forest I can't move and am not on screen at all

seems to be a conflict between Expanded and the map with both of them trying load the secret woods with "exclusive" priority how do I lower the priority of one so they work?

and it has a copy/paste content.json that you replace the farm extended one with and it works fine
I would have loaded woods.tbin as a separate map (let me see what they did)
from my limited knowledge and understanding I think they just put in a clause that if it finds the SVE file for it then it doesn't loads its side

Hi guys and gals, a very quick question, is there a way to disable a mod without removing it from the Mods folder? specifically its a content patcher mod so it starts with [CP].

Just found out you can add a . to the folder name at the beginning to disable it.
To disable a folder, just add a dot in front of the folder name (like .disabled mods). If Windows doesn't let you do that, put a dot at the end too and it'll let you (like .disabled mods.).
Anybody got an idea why my game crashed?
It sometimes happens that my whole screen goes black, comes back on ... and a second or two later, the game simply closes. Here it happened right when starting it up, so I'm not 100% sure if it's the same "as usual".

Oh, about the "Mod out of date": It's polyarmory kiss and I "can't" update it or rather, it is up to date, just the serial seems to be wrong.
when in game is there a specific action you're doing when the crash happens?
having one on start up isn't the best reference
also what sort of specs are you running it may be a hardware issue

The PC I'm using is very new and should have enough ram, but I also think it might be an issue with the computer itself, it's just hard to figure out. Maybe a thing with the graphics driver? No idea ...

Does anyone else use the mod Item Bags, and have any idea why the modded item bags is coming up empty, whilst the main mod ones are showing up fine? (for reference, they were all working okai, and then I opened the game one day and they weren't). My game is up to date, as are my mods :/ x

I saw someone else having a similar problem yesterday. Maybe check on the item bags nexus mods page, under "posts" or "bugs" if there's something reported
I can't see anything at first glance in your log, however I gotta ask: how do you update your mods? do you delete the folders and then install the update, or do you drop updates in the mods folder without deleting old files?
I use Stardrop.
okay, that's weird then. There's two folders with json assets that are not needed anymore, one from always raining in the valley and one from magical crops, and json assets itself can also be deleted as none of the mods needs it anymore. I'm not sure that fixes things, but it's an obvious thing I just noticed. you're gonna have to do that manually

Not sure if relevant but you’ve got this error Two content packs want to load the 'Characters/Beatrice' asset with the 'Exclusive' priority (Beatrice and East Scarp NPCs). Neither will be applied. You should remove one of the content packs, or ask the authors about compatibility.

So you’ll need to disable your antivirus and then unzip the installer again (antivirus got rid of bits when you unzipped)

that is incorrect.
you can remove perfection tweaker, since it's not compatible indeed, but spacecore is only telling you that if you removed it without taking precautions and then saved, your save might get corrupted. this is normal and expected behaviour.

I can't really see anything clear happening in your log that points to something that might be the cause. this log is from an instance where you tried to load and it crashed?
not sure if this is cause by my mods, but i notice screen tearing and fps drops in windowed borderless mode. when i switch to windowed mode its fine. any idea?
i think, it didnt show me any message saying it crashed it just dissapeared off of my screen and the same thing happened several times
i got the log following the instructions on smapi right after my last attempt loading it
but deleting perfection tweaker did actually fix it since after doing so it loaded properly

hello, me and my friends are trying to install the "more random" randomiser mod for multiplayer at the moment.
i am on windows and they're on mac, installing it went fine for me, but they can't get it to work. we've double checked that all the installation steps were done correctly and every other mod (of which there is one, being the mod config menu thing) loads correctly, but the randomiser is seemingly not loading (no entry in the mod config menu, doesn't randomise anything upon entering the game). are there mods that just don't work on mac ?
That would not be the case. First, give both of your logs. Second, link the randomizer mod here.

yeah that's not a minimal requirements issue, that's a much larger issue where SMAPI itself is either installed correctly OR there's computer issues, NOT requirement issues

Wow. So this is what happened. It asked me if I would like to permanently delete Ridgeside. I said yes. Then nothing happened and it's still there

Sorry for not replying sooner. All permissions are the same and I'm able to move all other mods and delete/install easily. It's just Ridgeside that's stuck

Probably not. Beyond this though if it's still not working at this point we'd probably have to move to command prompt rmdir shenanigans, and I'm not comfortable guiding anyone through a command prompt thing just because that's more high level computer stuff that I don't want to give advice on without A) being able to give exact steps and B ) noting that command prompt chicanery is high level access to your computer, so that's not a good idea just for random internet stranger to help with usually.

Okay yes you can try uninstalling the game
Use steam to uninstall FIRST
Then try deleting the stardew valley folder
If needed, though obviously it won't really fix the issue, you can try deleting everything within the Ridgeside folder
that way you can narrow it down to a problem file or something, hopefully
Okay I found the corrupted file
I was going through deleting everything inside the folders and this one will not let me delete it
Maybe if I download and install a new file of the mod and put it in there, it will fix the corrupted file and then I can remove the whole thing

Hiiii guys I've recently downloaded some new mods and I'm having this problem
I don't understand what's happening as I've already tried to remove all mods that effe t textures and tilesheets but the problems remains

that's neither textures nor tilesheets, it's maps, some mod is changing your maps and the game doesn't like it
go to "This PC" on your PC. right click your D drive, select "properties". Click "Tools" and then click "Check". You'll need admin permissions for it

the d drive on my desktop developed a bunch of bad sectors last year and it nuked so many steam screenshots
(I may be comfortable with command prompt, but generally telling a user to do admin stuff from command prompt is hella sus
