you buy the paint tool from robin, click the building, it brings up a menu of textures. it's all explained on the mod page.

Im a little confused how that happened as well honestly. When you update mods, do you overwrite them by chance? Because sometimes weird stuff happens when you don't delete the old before dropping in the new.
It should show up in the Generic Mod Config Menu
Tbh I had mods before but I've deleted them out of my mods folder so I don't know if that would've been the issue or not.

But yes there will be a config.json file in the mod folder but you need to launch the game once to generate it
And in the case of this mod, you might need to set your config to what you want and then relaunch for it to take effect
config files get generated the first time you load up a mod - so once the game is running, you'll see that through the mod config menu as has been said and the config.json will appear in the folder then as well

in my experience it works pretty much instantly (I've used this myself until a week ago :D)!
If you're wondering about the config they are all listed and described on the nexus page under "How to install" and then inside of a little expandable thing that says "Spoiler: show" Click on "show"

Yeah it has the "assets" and "references". The references are to help the user decide which style and color, I'm not sure what the assets are for because there's nothing in them.

Tbf with assets pngs aren't uncommon cause it's image files, check the file preview on nexus and make sure it has all the folders it should in the extracted folder, to make sure that it extracted properly

It's crashed when I've been playing for a few minutes and after a couple hours of play. But it shuts down my entire pc, I've updated drivers in case, changed stardew to high priority, tried a bunch of random fixes and reinstalling the mods popping up prior but the errors I had posted won't go away

Not really, it's been quite random. Throw a fishing rod out, walk outside, out of bed, just standing still

According to the warning, you're missing a file, I'd reccomend deleting the mod I'm question and reinstalling it see if that works!

yea im not sure why but the process of extracting it directly into your mods was eating the manifest and content

the content and manifest being eaten = smapi sees "empty" folder

Both were closed manually, prior to it I was troubleshooting on my own until I discovered I could look here and use the logs. However when it crashes, it blue screens my whole pc and restarts

ah, i think the error in the log is unrelated to the crashing then unfortunately, without a log from one of the times where it crashes i cant see what the game does right before it does the whole blue screen tango,or atleast to the bet of my understanding i am unable to
it shouldnt have all that shouldve done as far as i know is change what program you use to open the file when you click in it and tell it to open

When I first discovered the logs (before knowing I could post them and this discord) I looked after a crash and it didn't even dictate it as a crash, it was just the latest. Not sure if that matters. If it happens to crash again, I'll try sending that smapi log immediately. Are those errors ones I should be worried about?

hello, would it be safe for me to install both Looking for Love Redux and Clint Reforged at the same time? i'm concerned about the story and dialogue changes conflicting and causing an error that might do something to my save file
Hi, first timer at trying to understand an error log here. I don't think I've had a single mod or game error since 1.6 launched, but tonight when I tried to open my usual save after launching with no issues, it just kept cycling me back to the starting screen and threw me an error that I'm having a hard time understanding.
The error message seems to be coming from SMAPI, not a specific mod itself, but then it goes on to reference both Alternative Textures and SpaceCore. I have the most recent version of SDV, SMAPI, and both of the framework mods, and haven't made any edits to them since I last went into this save. Temporarily removing AT did allow me to access my save so I know it's something there, but I cannot for the life of me understand what the issue is or how to fix it. I have restarted my computer, validated my save files, fully deleted AT (and all AT packs I have), done a fresh download of the mod files, and the issue is still persisting. Any help would be appreciated - I'm tearing my hair out over here!
Other thing to note: creating a new test save seems to work just fine (so far)

I am simply becoming more cofused
Windows search for files within files is notoriously bad. Iβd go to one of the two mod folders that the error names, drill down into their asset folders, and find the specific file the log is referencing manually :/
Also I donβt think (despite the mod referring to the asset as βcharacters/toddlerβ) that a file name can include a slash in it, so thatβs probably contributing to no results coming up. Iβve seen other mods just name the file as βcharacterstoddlerβ forgoing the slash entirely - maybe that would give you a result?

The issue is with immersive family not allowing alternative baby sprites so I'm trying something out
If you read your error, youβll see exactly what the problem is: Two mods want to load (not edit β load) the same thing, but thatβs not possible, so neither of them actually works. Characters/Toddler isnβt the name of a file from that mod but the name of the internal asset if you will.
It should be. Dialogue mods tend to play nicely with each other β if two of them edit the same line of dialogue, the last edit simply "wins" and overrides other changes. Itβs definitely not something thatβll damage your save.
not the op of that question but as someone who is trying to learn modding - am I correct that you can force a preference for which one βwinsβ by making sure it loads in SMAPI after the one(s) you donβt want? by alphabet order or something?
I've tried something out that seemed to work. The immersive family file had backup images for the children and i added the images i wanted instead. It seems to be working (and i made an extra save for backups)

Setting false dependencies is one way to do that β they make sure mod A will load after mod B, overriding its changes. Alternatively, 1.6 introduced a new CP feature called Priority that does a similar thing and influences when a mod will load; generally either early, normal or late.
When two mods edit the same dialogue or images, whichever edit is applied last "wins" and is the one you see in the game.
If the mods don't set edit priorities (which most don't), that order is mainly determined by the order the mods were loaded by SMAPI. You can change that mod load order to influence the edit order.
(And yup, if youβve got neither dependencies nor priority set, mods will load in alphabetical order, so youβve got that right.

- you need to install Content Patcher and Event Repeater
- did you manually delete Save Backup and Console Commands from your mods folder? Those are SMAPI components. Run the SMAPI installer again to get them back

Manual dual-screen comparison for there, though for C# mods you can at least uncheck unshared mods in the parsed log pages

yes, considering you already got profiler running and know how to look at trace I assume you tried all the small stuff already and your log isn't saying anything bigger so I'd personally try without planned parenthood as well for 1-2 days and see what happens
ive been struggling for so long with this save my friends arent even able to jin either sometimes
could be that at some point something got changed by a stray mod and never resolved
so the save might be a little bit borked
maybe someone more experienced this can say more to this later, it requires knowledge I do not have yet
Will events be rewritten too or will they co-exist at the same time?
If theyβre entirely new events with different internal IDs, everything will work just fine. If they make changes to the same event, I think the same principle applies and the last one to load wins.

I think you got this error because you have enabled the config for Alternative Texture, which you should not because you are using a cp texture mod, not an AT texture mod for your kids.

Vortex isn't recommended for Stardew Valley.
It's hard to troubleshoot and often causes issues like SMAPI/mods not being installed or updated correctly, files mysteriously disappearing, crashes, etc. Volunteers here often can't help with Vortex issues.
Some options:
- Install mods directly (which is easy and safe in Stardew Valley!).
- Or use Stardrop, a mod manager specifically designed for Stardew Valley.
- Or get help with Vortex in the Nexus Discord or Vortex support forums.
@neat plaza I tried yesterday but got ignored so that's why I wanted to see if today someone had experience with linux specifically.
But here is a run down:
Basically, I can run Stardew with smapi through Steam with the Lookup Anything mod and no other mods.
If I try with any other mods, the game refuses to launch.
When I put back all the mods in the mods folder and run smapi through StardewModdingAPI, my saves aren't there. When I create a save there, the mods are all there and everything works fine.
When I launch again through Steam, it's the same issue. Meaning, the game won't launch if I add other mods than lookup anything. The save I created to see the mods doesn't appear either. I've searched far and wide and I tried every basic troubleshooting I came across. I do not see the test save file anywhere though.

Im not familiar with linux sadly but I would recommend running the SMAPI installer again. The path it seems to be using is /home/rasha/snap/steam/common/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Stardew Valley/Mods and from the log there don't seem to be any issues. So i would make sure you do not have multiple installations of stardew. perhaps look for multiple StardewValley save folders at ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common

Can I install SDVE with Mod Organizer 2 or is it only manual/ModDrop
I mean I always recommend manually downloading and installing mods
especially since you can add a shortcut to your mods folder on your desktop
I did before but it's usually just easier to use mod managers, I'm not opposed to manual installs if I have no choice

When the game freezes upon trying to start a cutscene, but the smapi log shows no errors, should i just wait, like, the cutscene will end up loading? the window does show me "smapi does not respond", but no errors in the log so i'm a bit confused

Hi, first time on here. I think i have conflicting mods or something that isnt working correctly. They are visual issues and nothin in the log from what i can tell. Issues are:
SVE buildings showing through the "updated" buildings. Andy, Susan, and the west vineyard.
Lance's room is all waterfalls now...? this was an old save after replacing most mods for the new patch.
The Oasis still is still base color. This issue persisted from before the patch and I still not sure how to fix it.
If anyone knows what's going on or what setting i'm messing up, please let me know.

The save shown the lance room was multiplayer but all other saves have been on solo new games. Iv been updating mods as they update but these issues have persisted through even everything but HD portraite being updated.

Heya. Hoping someone can help me. I am running Seasonal Garden Farmhouse V2 (Unofficial Update) and Explorer's Guild Expanded and have chosen to have Silly the Slime as a roommate.
Robin adds Silly's room for 100 hardwood, but the morning she comes to show me, she just walks off the porch by the log pile and vanishes. I can't follow her into Silly's room and I am supposed to for the questline.
Any idea on a fix to that? I'd be sad to lose all the hard work I put into this farm π¦
can you see where she walks off to? like, is she still on the map (but off screen) or is she entirely gone? because if sheβs still there but just hidden somewhere offscreen you could potentially try installing No Clip to find her and trigger the quest and then delete it after the fact

So, the issue is with multiple quests.
1- Qi's cuisine. I cooked 100k of recipes, shipped them, and the quest says I've shipped 0/100k
2- The Strong Stuff- I cant put the potato juice in the fridge, but the quest does say i collected the juice from the kegs

Until someone who has an idea comes along, I'd recommend updating the yellow and deleting the red and seeing if the issue persists/grabbing a fresh log.
unfortunately the asset folders being empty is smapi lying, but i doubt those are my issue anyways so i feel like it's not a big issue?

regardless of the type of mod, make sure you're never overwriting your mod folders. delete the old, then drop in the new. im fairly certain any progress is kept in your save file not the mod itself, the only thing you might have to redo is any config options the mod has. but as with any worry in modding, it never hurts to backup your saves and mods folder occassionally.
SMAPI doesn't tend to lie in my experience. Have you had this confirmed?

Henlo. Quick question, is there a way to set up mods to run per save file? Like one mod set up for farm 1, another set up for farm 2, or do I need to just take them out each time? ( going to set up a co-op that friends don't want modded much )

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.
But Pathos's Automate's one of the few I think should work no matter what

So I went ahead and uninstalled my SMAPI modded APK of Stardew, then reinstalled, did a fresh download of automate, transferred files, same error codes.
Hi! I just noticed that you didn't reinstall Unique Children like I suggested. Did you want to keep that mod? If so, please don't be afraid to ask for help in installing it if you need. Hopefully a correct install will prevent the errors from returning.
Wanted to let you know that there are volunteers in here who know android very well but it can sometimes take a bit longer to get help. Just didn't want you to feel ignored

Can anyone give me an idea why my game is refusing to load when I go outside (I have a cutscene with Lewis re: community day from SVE which loads fine, but then the game freezes after the screen goes dark)

The single warning telling you cauldron isn't loading isn't a good thing.
Does it crash if you wait a long time (like 10 minutes) after the cutscene without tabbing out?
It doesn't crash to desktop, but does give me the "program not responding" error after a while
I actually narrowed it down using the 50-50 method to an issue with Weather Wonders. Removed it and it's working fine now. I'll try adding it back after I finish a day and see if that changes anything.

You have set Stardew to use the Compatibilty 32-bit 'beta' branch on Steam. You'll need to change that to None for SMAPI 4.0.8
For Stardew 1.5.6 and SMAPI 3.18.6, you can instead use the Legacy_1.5.6 'beta' branch, but note that you'll need to install old 1.5.6 versions of mods for that to work and mods published after the 19th of March this year will not work.
Rightclick Stardew Valley in Steam and click the last option (Properties in English, not sure what it is in your language)

If you click the dropdown - the thing with the arrow - and select either of the other two options and they are are able to run on your computer then you can mod those.
If they cannot run on your computer, you can't mod the game

for some reason the game was unable to create the market town island at all so it couldnt take you there as the location doesnt exist as far as it can tell

hey yall! i feel like this is a silly question but its also hard for me to explain, ill try and do my best though
I have two save files
save file (A) is unmodded, save file (B) is highly modded
if i take out my mods for save file (B) so i can play save file (A), and then put the mods back in so i can play (B) modded again, will that mess anything up? (ex: delete any mod progress, etc)
ok so it looks like content patcher is having an issue with the fiel for the island which is in turn making it so the game has no data to generate the island from, let me see if i can figure out why thats happening

i feel you there, ive been modding mostly on steamdeck lately and oof
its pretty painless for me, but ive converted since owning a steam deck
linux rarely confuses me any more and if it does, i know theres a growing number of resources
its not super confusing but it does get realy finicky with certain mods ive found
bg3 is one of those game where you have to jump through 7 hoops to get the MOD MANAGER
so pros and cons. compared to that mess, sdv modding is easy
i havent even approached bg3 on steamdeck as of yet, let alone modding it

it runs fairly well on the steck, but i do prefer keyboard and mouse for bg3
ok so on looking closer at the error in your log, it seems to be unable to find a specific file
interesting, would uninstalling reinstalling work because i dont see any bugs about it on nexus
its definitely in the files though. weird
that would have been my gut reaction aswell, however, i just found the solution, and surprise surprise, it a linux thing XD
you need to find the file called paths..tsx and rename it to Paths..tsx
its literally all caused by the letter p cause specifically with linux its case sensitive for some reason (or atlest thats the reasoning that im reading here)
