don't know if this is a json assets problem or a 1.6.4+ problem, the first person was trying to load an old 1.5.6 save and the second person is trying to load a save that worked fine 3 days ago (so likely in 1.6.3)

look more carefully, the top file is for 1.5.6 and the one below is for 1.6

yyeah i think so? you can't really downgrade to a working version, other option would be to save edit the weapon out from your save file

Makes sense as to why it looks so weird 
though idk if AT is even supposed to conflict with those since the recolour is "replacing" the vanilla option
Either way, i think (?) they can just play with the configs and see which they think is better
I recommend using GMCM for configuration in-game (Makes it easier than editing the file manually)
though if i had to guess the example pack shipping bin is just borked

@muted timber you can try turning off the shipping bin recolor by earthy recolours in config and seeing if that fixes it, or if it's still bugging out with vanilla
you can also try to paint bucket the shipping bin and see if other textures for it are broken
(looking at it though the sprite in the example pack should be correct..?)
and also as atra pointed out, both earthy recolor and elle's seasonal are editing the shipping bin

today I started having issues with juliet(mod npc) not showing up anywhere anymore. when I go to jesse and juliets little custom house map it's a bit borked and you can't leave the map without warping away. it's also the wrong season in there for some reason

Hi! The game error in RubyEnchantment._UnapplyTo is fixed in the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.6.6. (The Json Assets error is an issue in that mod though.)

no its at 4.0.4 rn but it didnt give me a notification saying i should update

Fashion Sense definitely works on the latest version - I had to report a bug for hoodie mod that I could only do if Fashion Sense was active, and I did so while on 1.6.5

hey all, i've been trying for a couple days to download smapi on mac (m3, sonoma 14.4.1) and i'm still having problems with the terminal. when i manually open the "install on macOS.command" it will open up the terminal but will say "process complete" at the end instead of the normal dialogue i've seen like "light mode or dark mode" or something like that.

Idk if it’s a ping issue or what at this point but this is what my friend is describing what makes stuff dupe (added the new messages)

Game crashed while sleeping after the kid grew up
this happened to my friend when you had mods in your game that werent required anymore. when updating, do you delete your mods first, or do you simply let it replace? my friend just let them replace old files and thus he never got rid of ones that weren't necessary anymore

This is a super long shot, but I figured it's worth asking just in case. After the new updates, I noticed my loading times ballooned considerably (by several minutes on game launch and by a substantial amount when warping between areas). I installed Profiler to see if I could figure out what was causing the majority of the load times, and I've attached my log below. Since it seems that CP is related to my long load times, my best guess is that one or more of my CP packs are not playing nicely with the new updates, but I'm at a loss as to how to identify which. I am having issues with the smapi health bar mod. I have the updated unnofficial version of the mod. After updating to 1.6.4 the health bars are no longer centered above the mob correctly. I let the mod maker know I was having issues and they said the mod shoud be working fine with the new update so I believe it's conflicting with something else in my mods folder.

Hi! Does anyone know how to delete save files in 1.6? I tried all things I can imagine, but the last save keeps coming back. And that's a problem, bc I accidentally uninstalled a mod which now causes my game to crash (error items on farm).

If you change the days to less than have passed it seems to crash the game the next day

ok, so you basically have all of the 95 94 patches to cursors, but I don't believe the mod has anything to do with it (the patching stalls for 10 sec twice and after that for 50 sec)

I took another look in my smapi crash report and figured out, that the crash was caused by another mod than I thought. So no more crashes, which is really great. But the error items are still there of course, because I did uninstall Bonsters Crops and trees and what do I know. So, I would be really glad, if I could turn back time for one day, to a save, where the crops and trees were still there.

The game saves progress when the in-game day ends, i.e., when the farmer goes to bed, collapses from exhaustion, or collapses at 2am. All progress during a day is lost if the player quits the game without ending the day. In multiplayer, the game saves after all players click through the prompts at end of day and wake up in the morning.
Also make sure the game is not open while you attempt this and that Steam isn't overwriting your stuff with its cloud saves/offsite copies of your save files

I typed a question in the SMAPI part of Nexus and Pathoschild told me to ask here so I will just copy and paste my question and everything if thats okay
So I do this on my macbook. When I redownload SMAPI and put it into my browse files on steam, it says that the date modified was April 18th at 12:54 pm. This was right before the newest update for SMAPI got uploaded, which was the same day but at 3:11. No matter how many times in delete it from my macbook and redownload it, it wont add the version that was updated after 3:11. I have deleted steam and terminal entirely from my computer as well to try that. My stardew vallew is up to date and I just genuinely dont know what is wrong. Here I copied and pasted what my terminal says when I try to run stardew. Im not sure how to post screen shots here. I have also tried to download SMAPI from different websites as well. -Let me know if I should add what my terminal said or not. Thank you!

Yeah, I know. First I disabled Steam Cloud, than I deleted the whole folder from today, but it still loads the last save. After that, I tried to unzip the folder, delete the current files for the saves, changed the names of the _old Files, packed it back to zip and dropped the folder in the save backups. But guess what? It still loads my last save. And I really don't know where the file should come from, after I deleted it.
The game doesn't load the file in Save-Backups
It loads the one in the Saves folder in appdata.

Because you apparently have several versions back. Just to confirm: You're downloading this or this? (Or the curseforge version?)
And you have only one installation of Stardew Valley, and that is where the installer is installing to?
I use stardrop, so the source for smapi should be nexus. And yes, it's only installed once.
Anyway so just to confirm your steps are:
- Download SMAPI Installer 4.0.7
- Unzip the freshly downloaded SMAPI installer
- Run Install on MacOS
- Follow the steps of the installer with it installing to Users/baderhannah03/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Stardew Valley/

If SMAPI tells you that a mod can be updated even if you have already downloaded the latest version, it may be an error with the manifest's version number. To check, open the mod's manifest.json and change the version number to match the mod page if they do not already match.

Okay, I'm on my save before the last one now, but the error items still exist, beside the fact that the mod is loaded correctly. Do I have to delete the spacecore serialization too? Because these two json files are from yesterday, while my last save was from the 20th.

Maybe just put everythign aside from the error items in a chest and use the debug clear command in the SMAPI console to delete your entire inventory

I think I'll make a backup of the save and try to delete them. If that doesn't help or kill the save, I'll use your suggestion. Problem with that is that the mod includes trees and crops, which I would have to chop down manually, before I can use the debug clear command.
a phoenix conversion of BFAV phoenixes comes out as I was tyring to learn how to do it myself but with this one, ashen is replaced with void and you have to unlock the other colors.

nexus has a tag for 1.6 mods
on nexus mods you can sort by last updated, anything updated after 19th of March 24 should be compatible and there's the tag, indeed
check something like SVE and it should have that
the yellow errors aren't really a concern, you can play on with that. to move the minecart you're going to have to go into the settings of (CP) integrated minecarts and scroll down really far until you arrive at the entry fields for coordinates. there you're going to have to enter the coordinates where you want the cart to be
so im trying to run a mod that changes the appearance of one of the npcs and its not working
or just download the minecarts mod again, it should reset if you delete the mod from your mod folder first and then put the re-downloaded one in again

which texture error? I can only see errors caused by integrated minecarts not loading things (which can be ignored because it's not gonna impact your game as far as I know)

yeah it does and after using the log thing to find the issue it says the folder with the mod in question is empty (mod simply changes a single npcs appearance) could having folders within folders be the issue? cause i checked the instructions on how to make sure the mod works and it simply says to put the folder in the mods folder of the game files and that's exactly what i did

well so when you click on the folder for the mod you get 2 folders inside of it called characters and portraits one is the character in game sprite which is simply the regular , beach and winter outfits and portraits has 3 files for the character portraits for each respective outfit

You need to unzip them all.
What you did was go into the unzipped mod, then into its Assets folder, then take just the Vanilla subfolder of the Assets folder.
Every single mod needs to be unzipped. The visual mods you've been using sound either like portrait replacers or XNB files, but normal portrait mods should just be unzipped.
I.e. there are no exceptions for visual mods
What you need to do is unzip the mod and put the whole thing in.

like it's not a big issue or anything, but I think the reason might be it thinks you're in the forest instead of in the tower, so maybe the time changed to when the sewer cutscene could trigger and when I "left" the wizard cutscene, that was enough for it to trigger the other one?
Also when the sewer cutscence ended, I ended up in front of the wizards house (even though I swear I never left it)
Did the golden piggy bank in sve break or do i need to figure out why its an error item now? I asked in the modded farmers section and got no response
i'm away from my data files and can't verify it right now, but the wizard cutscene might end with end warpOut, which would cause you to leave the tower automatically and enter the Forest. that would then trigger the kids cutscene on that map, and when that one ends (with simply end) you are at the spot where you triggered it (right outside the tower)

if you have steam just go to stardew valley on steam and hit browse local files
that gives you the path to get to smapi
More mods are on Nexus than ModDrop but ModDrop does have a few unique mods, especially those uploaded there whenever Nexus is having technical difficulties

It looks like Windows defender is deciding to do it's job a bit too well. Can you run SMAPI as an administrator and see what happens?
If that works, set SMAPI as an exception in windows defender. That should fix it for the future
Update the mods listed then try again. Since those mods impact the game framework, it's highly likely that's your issue.

Okay so I started with curseforge cuz that’s how I get most my Minecraft mods but I realized there wasn’t a lot of mods there so I moved to nexus but on curseforge I had already downloaded one mod I found interesting and on nexus I did download the SMAPI and 1 other mod but since I already had that one item downloaded I just put everything into the curseforge folder should I redo everything and start with SMAPI I didn’t see a mods folder when I downloaded it but maybe I’m looking in the wrong place lol

If you're using a mod manager, go for Stardrop. Yeet the other manager mod folder for Stardew, whether it's curseforge, MO2, or vortex. None of them were made for SDV, I learned that the hard way yesterday

So the issue is your computer doesn't know how to unzip them in bulk half the time, hence why we usually tell people to not do it. And by your computer, I mean your friend, mine, everyone's computer. For all those mods missing files, they are going to have to uninstall and fresh install them.

So I went to hop on today to play on a co-op farm with my partner. We've had no issues previously and added in and updated a few mods but now my game crashes every time I load into the farm. We tried adding in the Unique Children Talk mod, updated the Nature's Bounty (which included adding Space Core and Events Repeater) and the Mandalorian mod.
I tried uninstalling the children mod and space core mod (which I know shows an error in the linked log for the nature's bounty, but I know that's not an issue cause my partner, who hosts the server, has not had any issues tonight). I also tried verifying the integrity of the files on steam but that didn't fix the issue either.
Anyone here have any ideas??

Trying to update and it keeps telling me that Stardew Valley Expanded isn't installed correctly.

Oh so if I have mods in a multiplayer world do we all need to download the same mods or just the host?
Question... If I want to change my standard farm map is there a way to reset building locations or am i stuff with my current map?

Okay so my bf and I downloaded smapi to download mods and we followed all the instructions but when my bf runs the game it says “cannot find program” but it’s working for me
Did your bf set the launch options in Steam correctly?
That error happens when the connections aren't made between SMAPI and the game

You can mod your multiplayer games, but to avoid any hiccups, all players' mod lists need to match. If players have too many mismatched mods, you will experience bugs in your game - even if the mods were working fine earlier, there is no guarantee that they will stay that way, and strange things may start occurring. There are a few exceptions to this - cosmetic mods usually work fine with no glitches, and some C# mods work as well. Mods often include information on whether or not they work in multiplayer in their descriptions. However, in general, your mod lists should match exactly.

if youre usin nexus to download try usin curseforge is what im tryna say- if youre usin curseforge then idk

So I have Return of Custom Backpack Framework and Return of More Backpack Upgrades, but the extended space I have isn't working now. Someone on the Framework mod's page said there was a conflict with Better Crafting, but I don't see anything like that in my log... Anyone know what's up? (there are errors for fishing rod recolor but those are the only ones i see)

my smapi is saying json assets is no longer compatible but none of my other mods are breaking so does it technically mean they will be fine without the json assets or just won't run

I'd like to ask if you guys having issues of not being able to connect for Co-Op since 1.6 update? (with around 40-50ish mods used)
I tried like over 9 times today, not working for me and my friend who want to join the host. But when I try hosting, it won't show any code for co-op
I'm staring to wonder if mods somtimes go wonky if I use Crome
It was like this, when I click on the "start local co-op" it just shows loading screen no code or anything
local co-op isn't internet
you need to create your save file through the co-op tab in the main menu if you want to play online
a single-player file can't be turned into online multiplayer from what i know, only into local co-op
but since oyu have the server mode options there you did create it from the co-op menu right?
yeah, when I tried hosting though I already pick co-op from the co-op menu it won't show the code so my friend can't join. But when my friend was hosting, I tried over 10 times connecting but it's always connection failed. I wonder if it's bcs I'm from Asia and she's in the US
but even our other friend from the US can't connect to host farm (who is in the US) too
I have no idea about this, I don't think she use xbox. She was using laptop, and connect from Steam since she screenshare and we watched it from our Discord server
yeah she got this, we tried joining from Invite Code but connection always failed
so the farm won't show up in the join tab, code won't work and invite friend won't work?
initial 7-8 trial, farm won't show up in the join tab. After that it shows and I tried joining her farm like 3x which all was connection failed as well

I downloe and downlonde and it still tells me I'm out of date
just our mods mostly. But i'd check if we probably are blocked by firewalls or such next time. Hopefully it works. Thank you!
Custom Kissing Mod, Expanded Preconditions Utility and Multi-Yield Crops: you have the 1.5.6 version, the 1.6 version is in the "optional files" section on nexus
how would one go about replacing sprites via png 
if you go to Coii's basic shirts pack's and coii's girls sets pack's nexus pages and look in the "Posts" tab, iceprincess98 has shared Fashion Sense versions of those mods which shouldn't conflict

XNB mods often break the game and are not recommended. See:
- using XNB mods for more info and a list of Content Patcher alternatives;
- reset your content files to fix problems caused by XNB mods.
For mod creators, see editing XNB files for help unpacking & editing them (including for use with Content Patcher).
very not recommended
content packs are very easy to make though, you could even download an example pack and just trim it + replace the example assets with the ones you want to use
well if xnb causes issues cant u just purge the mods and verify game files
