Sorry!! So on Nexus Mod Page it says:
To use a custom portrait and background, you must change the config variable UseCustomPortrait to true, then use Content Patcher and target the following paths:
aedenthorn.FarmerPortraits/portrait
aedenthorn.FarmerPortraits/background
Portraits and backgrounds can be hi-res or lo-res, as preferred.
There is an example pack in the files section you can use as a template. You can install it and simply replace its PNG files with your own.
I already set UseCustomPortrait to true but I don't know how to use Content Patcher to target the Farmer path nor can i find the example pack
I just wanted to be sure it wasn't going to like....freak the heck out if I ignored it

Hi! So I may have messed with my animal skins too much, and now some of them have the reverted to the vanilla ones

Heyo. I got a mod that allows me to have a larger cellar, and I was planning on just filling it to the absolute brim with casks - I have Automate. But past a certain point, the game would not let me allow to place any more casks. Anyone have a clue why?

hey, so, as someone who has dabbled in modding other games but not stardew
do minor updates (i.e 1.6.3, and the upcoming 1.6.4) usually break mods and make them need to update? or are the internal changes not usually that big of a deal?
im considering modding my so far vanilla 1.6 save that ive been playing up to year 2 by now, because i quite want to use the platonic relationships mod for 1.6...

Mods will be updated when mod authors are available and capable of making updates. If a mod you use has not been updated, please do not harass the mod author to update or leave comments asking if a mod still works - mod authors are people who may have other time commitments and cannot immediately update their mods, and a lack of response does not necessarily mean the mod is being abandoned as the mod author may not have time to respond or may be hard at work behind the scenes.
If a mod has been updated after March 19 2024, then it is likely to be compatible with 1.6. Some pre-1.6 mods will also work in 1.6 without requiring an update - testing out if a mod still works will not damage your game, so it is often quicker to test for yourself than to ask others if it is working.

you must download the CP version of the mod
So this mod only converts the DGA build a kitchen if there is a CP build a kitchen

Then you either convert them yourself using a converter or they are gone until they are updated
Then this migrator won't help your there sadly

Yeah, her log doesn't seem to think any of the mods exist which could mean mods in the wrong place, not extracted from the ZIP files, or SMAPI in the wrong path if she has two installs
right so thats what were trying to figrue out what went wrong since she never had an issue until we were updating preexisting mods
we even tried pulling those out and redownloading stuff

Yes, AT = Alternative Textures. You don't need the AT on, you just need the packs downloaded

ok I discovered that on Android when using Pytk and space core together the museum artifacts disappear, I want to remove pytk but how do I know which mods are using it?

I am playing sve + a number of other mods but I have found that my watering can and my hoe have not upgraded functionality though they have been upgraded through iridium. Any ideas where to start to find the problem? I went back through all the mods I have and the only one that obviously affects tools is Tool Upgrade Duration Changer. It only allows you to change how long an upgrade takes. I will remove the mod and check again. I am just curious if this has been reported before? Appreciate any help. TY!
Shove all your zips in that folder, than select folder path for the Stardrop Installed Mods folder and it'll automatically hook up everything else on Stardrop

dan.i.yell.e, Is the problem you're meaning the extra black space around the top of the clock menu and such? If so, it might be a case of changing the resolution to fullscreen and then back to a proper resolution, rather than the zoom.

The PyTK mod is now obsolete. You can delete it from your mods folder, and all your mods should be safe.
If you get an error saying you're missing PyTK, open the mod(s) manifest.json and change the PyTK dependency from true to false
If they're on modded and mobile, they're not on 1.6, so it depends on when pytk got obsoleted?

So for stardrop, should it be Stardew Valley > Mods > Stardrop Installed Mods > all mods dropped into this folder?
All mods dropped as zips in that folder
It will unzip them for you when you drop them in via the UI
Make sure you select clear all/hit yes whenever you replace a mod folder and have it delete instead of overwrite
Theyre all unzipped already in the regular Mods folder, can I just drop them from the Mods folder into Stardop Installed Mods as is? Or do they have to be zipped

Just don't delete the unzipped copies in the Stardrop folder, otherwise it gets confused and you have to relaunch it. If you do the API trick, it replaces Vortex and allows you to download straight to stardrop
i'm unsure what's crashing the game, i'm on a multiplayer with the same smapi and stardew version with all the same mods as the host; the host isn't experiencing any problems

back again with issues, were trying to play on a farm we were already working on but when she tries to join, it says no available cabins. her smapi log is saying that it failed reading character but not sure how since shes able to click the save in order to try and load

your log has quite a few red mod errors, it might be a good idea to check that both of you are on the correct versions of your mods and there is no mismatch happening.
Spacecore and Alternative Textures, at the very least, are ones that I have seen noted recently as making it so that players who don't both have it (and on the same version) cannot join games together.

hello! im playing a modded multiplayer with a friend, we have all the same mods installed, we're using vortex mod manager and a collection from a creator, we have the same version of SMAPI and SVE and everything else, but my game is randomly freezing in different locations and my camera is unable to move, but my character can move - then the game just goes unresponsive after a while. not sure what is causing the problem, in the smapi log it keeps mentioning something regarding sterling from SVE (not sure if that has anything to do with it) but i have uploaded my log here: https://smapi.io/log/6962157480d14b1bae35b974ba5b3126. any help would be really appreciated! ๐ซถ

I'd definitely update what you can, for both of you, if you're having issues because of differing NPCs for example, fixing RSV and East Scarp (which aren't working because Spacecore isn't updated), might help.

Okay, so the Sterling issue I saw was related to Always Raining in the Valley, which you don't seem to have (unless I missed it) so that solution won't work
figured out why my tools kept disappearing and it wasn't a mod at all
I thought the sterling thing wasn't even related to be honest, as I'd been getting it a couple of days ago too, but no freezing or crashing so not sure..!

1.6 added new tiles which will take some time for recolor mods to catch up on. recolors will mostly work but there will be some vanilla-looking tiles. please be patient as you wait for mod authors to update their mods

ok so essentially I'm trying to install SMAPI on windows, and everything is fine (I'm also using the nexus manual download rather than curse forge), however when I extract the Zip file, and run the "Install on Windows.bat" file, a command window reading "Unhandled exception. System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\Users\ [myname] \AppData\Local\Temp\SMAPI-installer-90961b21791c46618f6010252045df62' is denied." pops up. I've seen others having and posting about this issue, however either no one has replied with an answer, or those who have, have made the answer incredibly vague

My game froze on me while I was getting a treasure chest while fishing. I had to use task manager to close it. I recently installed SVE, which is the only big change. But I can't imagine why SVE could make the game freeze like that. I'll post the log, but I don't know if it was able to catch the data since I couldn't exit the game organically.

hi! im having an issue where every time i open my game with smapi (just smapi, no other mods besides the ones it installs on its own) it completely refuses to open. i've tried everything the wiki suggests and nothing has worked. vanilla stardew works just fine. smapi worked just the other day before the new update and since uninstalling the old version and installing the new one, nothing seems to work.

Probably because the recolor havenโt updated
You can just download the new SMAPI installer and run the installer file as normal! SMAPI will automatically take care of the older version and replace it.

i just switched versions today, the older one wasnt working either, i had assumed that was the issue so i updated

ive been trying to make my custom farmer portrait work and i did it but then the custom portrait for some of the bachelors stopped working so i verified the files real quick to replace the bachelors .xnb files to see if that would fix it but now my custom farmer portrait is also gone and idk what to do anymore

So sometimes when I explode things in the mines, the loot from it vanishes before I get to it. I'm not sure if it's NPC Adventures alpha which I am playtesting (possible, but unlikely, it generally doesn't do anything with loot) or some other mod, or a vanilla bug? Has anyone else encountered this?

I did use that one, I will show the smapi log next time I am playing the game.

What Iโll do is Iโll show both the smapi log and the files.
Itโs one of the mods that I really want aswell.

Smapi you donโt put into a folder, you drag it onto ur desktop and run the launcher in the folder, and CP yes it goes into the mods folder BUT remember to UNZIP

Has anyone found that Mystery Boxes don't spawn with mods added in? I started a new file and haven't had a single Mystery Box drop on my modded file, but I'm unsure how to check as I don't usually play modded Stardew. I tried to only add in mods compatible with 1.6 but i don't know why any of them would prevent mystery boxes from spawning
no, sorry, i havent played much with the 1.6 new features. You could check the SMAPI log, and if theres nothing, usually theres a few mods listed in the log that have major differences, so u can try removing them maybe?

ive updated the manifest that wasnt changed in the update of Nora but its about all the other red and orange lines ๐ i do know whats wrong wit mateo and hector. its just the rest of the stuff ;D
(other option is to move your SDV installation to a "higher" folder thats closer to C://, like C://stardew instead of having it super deep)

We have a weird crashes and bugs when entering the fair in multiplayer. Some players can enter the fair alone and softlocking everyone else outside and even if we all manage to enter the fair, some people disconnect and then softlocking us inside the fair.
We've added these mods recently:

2.Le Bigger Greenhouse 1.0.0
3.DaisyNiko's Tilesheets 1.9.1

idk but this exact same format was working yesterday for when i was testing a new thing i was adding
im not sure about that but maybe something started to conflict
try removing what you added while you were testing and running it again one by one
then i think you can point out what is the problem
the one that worked was a different mod but everything else is teh same i got the same version of smap and content patcher, same format 1.23.0
i also get that when i open smapi
sometimes auto migration doesn't work and it doesn't show
the only way to understand if it works or not is to see it running in game
maybe that is the error
i changed the json format to 2.0.5 i think that might be the problem

i think the install thing is outdated coz i found a reddit post that had the same issue and it was that it was meant for debian 11
specs? if thats low, that may be the problem
also if u dont have a specific need for debian iw ould reccomend use mint

1.6 added new tiles which will take some time for recolor mods to catch up on. recolors will mostly work but there will be some vanilla-looking tiles. please be patient as you wait for mod authors to update their mods

hii i need some help , today after i tried to update smapi to 4.0.6 its not downloading completely and when i checked why after tinkering around my smapinstaller.exe seems to delete after i try to download smapi and then when i try to redownload smapi it says that smapi is missing that file and my says maybe my antivirus seems to have deleted it ig idk what to do

All right... So, I was on yesterday trying to figure out why the "ToolBar Icons" mod wasn't working right. I decided to give up... and then I didn't. XD
Issues:
1 - The Generic Config Menu for the Toobar Icons mod doesn't display all the options, one is always off screen, only see able when using the sorting arrows to lower another option downward. So, for some reason the options presented are always one less than the list avaible. Resorting causes the menu to close and errors to pop up in the smapi log.
2 - Options are not saved, they can be... but it requires saving, which visually resets things, and then saving and closing. Basically, trying until it sticks.
3 - Ignore the "some mods need updating" the mod throwing out that suggestion is unrelated to the Casino, and I have the current version.

Turning the Sweet Gem Berry into a real fruit so it can have wine, jelly, and dried variants should be extra easy for 1.6 compared to 1.5, right?
Remove all the obsolete mods like Custom Furniture, Entoarax, Dynamic Game Assets as well as Happy Birthday and Stardust Core.
If you are unsure if a mod still works check the comments on Nexus before downloading. As a rule of thumb mods created or updated after 19th of March are usually save to use, for older mods you need to do your research.

I didn't see anyone address this so I am looking at it now that I am awake-- it seems like Casual Furniture uses Custom Furniture which is not updated since furniture is now able to be added through Content Patcher. The mod author of Casual Furniture Set mentioned an update is on the way, but there is currently a working Alternative Textures version on their mod page, if I found the correct one!

has anyone else had problems using a custom portrait for Mr. Ginger? i use Shie's portraits for everyone, and I downloaded https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/11292 so Mr. Ginger can fit in with everyone, but when I try to switch to it in game, nothing shows up except the vanilla portrait?
I've even tried other portrait mods to no avail and I'm not sure what could be the issue? i know portraiture used to use ptyk, which is now obsolete, and i tried to find somewhere i could change the value to "false" and removed ptyk, but i haven't found that on any of the json files
You should be able to allow the SMAPI application through the app antivirus or firewall now that you know the antivirus was the issue! The easiest thing is to turn it off when you download SMAPI and then turn it back on and allow the app through once it's installed

Is this a log from when you have tried to equip a ||trinket||?
If you can't even see the slot, it might not be a bad idea to disable anything that alters the inventory or equipment area temporarily to see if it reappears

Yep, one of the issues resolved in there (startup_preferences being corrupted) can randomly pop up, so it's still best to try the troubleshooting steps if you can

sometimes it only pops up after a restart, if you don't see it, move on to the next step until you try a restart.

That'd be me, I likely messed it up by adding the hotfix in yesterday, because Sterling was refusing to load because of missing portraits and that was a listed fix

i seem to have lost like 5 hours, my entire last session, of game time. i dont know why or what happened, but is there any way to recover the lost progress? i made alot in that session.... :(

@shrewd gull we're gonna take the hotfix back out of the content.json and see what's happening without it now, just in case something changed. Delete lines 192-197 in the content.json.

there should have been literally any log thing not in trace after CORE so that I'd have looked at the trace to see this to start

So, where's SMAPI installed, and what's in your launch options field

hello all. for some reason, one of my AT mods stopped working in the island house. it worked for the first room, and now it does not show up. i can't change the wallpaper to any mods too. any way i could fix this? i tried logging out of the game and back in again, did not work. log has no warning too

I have no idea what that means ngl 
my friend and i both decided to redelete the entire ARV mod then redownload it and put it back and that seemed to fix it BUT we have no tried coop yet to see if we get issues lik elast night
update: im no longer lagging i took out the dehydrator and brocoli from a mod i had

That's good! It's entirely possible that ARV had since updated to fix the original issue and that the redownload removed the need for the hotfix.
were testing it now
yeah it didnt show a new update BUT i know sometimes authors go in and change a file but it doesnt trigger the date uploaded
Good to know that if the ||item is already in game as of the 1.6 update|| having that mod will slow you down
