So... I'm trying to download SMAPI and use mods, however when I use the Windows installer (I have a Windows laptop) this error message appears. I'm not familiar with tech stuff, so I have no idea what any of this means. I think the issue arose because I downloaded SMAPI a long time ago with a friend who is very tech-savvy, but I tried to manually get rid of the mods I downloaded previously because they A) never actually worked because I didn't configure Steam, and B) were super outdated. Any ideas?

it seems smapi is already installed. can you try and launch the StardewModdingAPI.exe?
the only mod i can see that could be affecting the texture is Sprites in detail. try removing that?

did you try revalidating the game files? it seems like a vanilla file is missing

the launch options are just so when you open stardew through steam it opens smapi
if you want to avoid that leave the launch options blanks and find the StardewModdingAPI.exe in your stardew folder and make a shortcut for it

So I just updated mods for 1.6. I use the [CP] DaisyNiko's Earthy Recolour. It was updated today. Is this happening for anyone else? I tried different farms. And it's still doing the same thing. It could be just the mod itself having a bug. This mod has to have SMAPI and Content Patcher, which I already have. But I wanted to see if anyone else has this mod, and it's doing the same thing to them. Thanks in advance!

1.6 added new tiles which will take some time for recolor mods to catch up on. recolors will mostly work but there will be some vanilla-looking tiles. please be patient as you wait for mod authors to update their mods

That happens when there's a game update. Due to how .NET works, SMAPI needs to specify the DLL versions it needs to load; so the first time you launch SMAPI after a game update, the list doesn't match the actual DLLs anymore, so SMAPI needs to recreate that list (i.e. copy the game's list) before it can load successfully.
If anybody is smart with smapi and can help me figure something out please help me. My wife and I cant figure out whats happening..

I dont know how to upload the smapi log...What happened was I installed the new smapi, SDV kept opening up with the old smapi so it wouldnt open. So i deleted all of my stardew valley files and extracted smapi into SDV...and now the game keeps saying it cant find the path when I ope it up and the line could under properties is what its supposed to be which is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%

Okay. Sorry..I remember going through similar crap a long time ago with the same problem..had to update the smapi and then all of this happened.
- Stardew is on your E drive. Use 1 to install it.
- After doing so, for launch options, you'll need
"E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%
finish the installer first.
Then copy paste those launch options into the launch options field
OK the file still didn't load

Yes thankfully. I didn't know the path for a C drive was different than an E. I tried googling it but everything kept saying the C drive path.

You'e probably going to not be happy to learn that 95% of your load time in the raw log is SVE assets.

run the installer in the zip and just follow the instructions to install, you dont have to uninstall

Two content packs want to load the 'Maps/Farm' asset with the 'Exclusive' priority (Content Patcher and Grandpa's Farm). Neither will be applied. You should remove one of the content packs, or ask the authors about compatibility.

The only caveat... you add the mods as zip.

Yes, even without launch parameters, the same behavior is present, the game is open as a process in the background, but nothing shows up.
Don't have a graphic card, but the game has opened before on this computer. Just yesterday I was able to play without issues.
I've reinstalled the game yesterday, and today just a few seconds ago. Currently checking if there's any changes.
Does vanilla open?
Startup preferences are different than launch options, and even though you may not have a graphics card per se, your computer has a graphics driver.

The game just opened for me, but as you can see it took about 3 to 4 minutes. Now, if I try loading the game or creating a new game, the game just stays "Loading" even tho 10 minutes pass and nothing happens.

In a sense I removed the startup -preferences file, removed the Stardew Valley - Roaming folder.

It's generally good practice to not have multiple farm map mods in your active mods folder
In the meantime, can you take out (not delete) Forest Farm of Secrets, Hermit Isle Farm CP, and Hidden Forest Farm?

Just opened up, let's see if it's able to load a file.
This is looking more like a computer issue than a game issue; if this is what happens when you try to launch the vanilla game, then you either need to look at troubleshooting your computer or perhaps asking #vanilla-tech-support, since this isn't mod related.
There is a single instance of the "farm" in the game, regardless of which original vanilla map you choose. Each of these custom farm maps are competing to see which one gets to be that instance.

I managed to get it to load way faster now after fiddling with it for a bit. It loads way faster and it's able to load up my save file.

Modded means "modified." It's modifying existing game code. The game code doesn't just replicate itself, that's not how game development works.

No, not at all, Riza. Let me see if I can make this clear. There is a single player farm in the game. There are different maps for that farm, right? If you want to add a custom map, you aren't adding a new farm, you're just changing the map.

You will have to delete those mods. However, you have other errors which would be fixed by deleting no fence decay (you can use CJB cheats if you don't want your fence to decay) and deleting and reinstalling expanded.
Oh I see three other errors here...
The 8 vanilla maps have nothing to do with custom maps. But you can only play on one map at a time, right? You can't choose a different map every day.
You could have a thousand custom farm maps, but they would all be arguing about which one gets to be the one played.
Delete or find an update for Seasonal Garden Farmhouse V2 as well, Marie.

When you have a ton of different maps in the mods folder, the game doesn't know which one to load. That's the issue.

That just further complicates things because there's a big difference between "replace" and "add custom." If you have 4 mods that replace the standard farm, the game doesn't know which one to choose, and there's no way to indicate that.
So best practice is to keep the mods you aren't actively using in a separate location on your computer and just swap them out when you start a new save file.

Bascially it lets you create different profiles.
Added the mods and no issues now, it loads up right away.
So you can have a "Fairy CottageCore" profile and a "Modern Elegant" profile or whatever.
What did you do when you "fiddled around" on your computer?

alright so how many farms would u recommend a player to have mod wise before it goes haywire like mine did? So we don't run into this issue again
What I ended up doing was, completely remove SMAPI, remove mods folder, verified the game integrity once again, run the game directly from Steam, then when I noticed it was able to open up right away I knew it was going to work from there.
Clean install SMAPI, run it, opened up right away.
Add 15 mods, and it opens up as expected.
To clarify on the mods, I unzipped the files instead of merging the old folders, to ensure its not something there causing the issue.

When I say completely remove SMAPI, I meant that I used the executable file provided to install it, to uninstall it.

Honestly, I would only ever put one custom map or modded map in my mods folder at any given time. But if you're using Stardrop or creating modgroups, then that would be different.

Downloaded SMAPI on Android to start my modding process all over again - I can't open Stardew. Instantly crashes every time
the way it does enable/disabling is it has a folder that it makes symlinks to your mod folders, of only the ones that are enabled

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

its pretty straightforward, it reads whats in your mod folder, and you can just dump zip files onto its window
yeah- need to focus on other important stuff- like finding a place to live and a job ^^;

it's used to add items to the game. it's updated for 1.6 and should be fine to use if any of your mods need it. if you remove it and run the game you can see from the smapi log (in smapi.io/log) if anything refuses to load because JA isn't installed
error handler been weird recently.. my SMAPI keeps telling me in the console to delete it

You're trying to use SVE for 1.6 but on mobile it's SDV 1.5.6. You need to use the version of SVE for 1.5.6.

u can move them all out of the mods folder, probably backup ur save first tho

Or you can make a new folder inside the mods folder called .disabled (or whatever - important part is the . in front of the name) and move everything there. A . in front of the name disables the mod.
a steam discussion board user has said to just delete and reinstall the sdv game folder and reinstall
or does just deleting the mods folder work as well?

You don't need to uninstall SMAPI to update it unless there's an issue.

Hey, so my bug still hasn't been fixed (being that sometime the game just won't let me save the day, forcing me to hard reset) even though I cleaned up my mod list
I think it's related to actions I'm doing in game, since when I ran to this bug before I just changed what I was doing and the bug did not trigger

you can use stardrop
