AppData is not where Stardew Valley has the application or mods file

Easiest way to find the folder is right click on Stardew Valley in steam and browse local files

i dont unzip unless it complains i just double click into the mod and select all and drag into my mods folder tbf

So I want to install shiko npc but I had to downland each file because I need premium subscription to downland more than 3gb, after this. I put all the downlands on a file and put it in mods but it doesn’t work (sorry for the bad English tho )

If the mod has 3 downloads, chances are each of them needs to be installed as a separate mod
Some mod pages are actually multiple mods that work together, but you can't combine them

Yup, each of those downloads is its own mod
So they should have their own folder under Mods

SMAPI is not a mod, it's a mod loader. So you can delete that folder if you want the error to go away.

my game is crashing soon after i launch it through steam but there are no errors in the log. I'm on linux Kubuntu 23.04. using smapi 3.18.6 and content patcher 1.30.4. the game launches fine if i don't have any content packs installed though

Somewhere, your textures are breaking. the error is not specific
First request: disable Custom Furniture and launch, let me know if it works or not
If not, we'll proceed and disable one of the other two "culprits", but they'll be disabled by framework to start (i.e. if I tell you to disable mod X after CF, assume it's to figure out which set of content packs are dying, not the mod itself is the error)

I've recently got a new laptop, and I think i downloaded all of the mods I had on my old one but the game opens without any graphics and SMAPI doesnt give any warnings regarding missing dependencies, has anyone else encountered the same issue and how did you resolve it? I renamed my Mods folder to .Mods, and it didn't fix the issue, so it's something with SMAPI or my laptop.
The sounds play, and the buttons are apparently there and seem to be interactable.
I'm hoping one of our Linux people can help, but in the meantime can you:
- cause the crash again;
- upload your SMAPI log and post the link here;
- and post a screenshot of the terminal after the crash?

Has anyone else encountered issues with SMAPI, where it loads without any graphics but the audio is there and it makes sounds as if i be hovering over and pressing the buttons if I try interacting with the window
CF's already a bit outdated and I'd think it's the main cause, but that'd be why

I have already had experience with the game in vanilla and I wanted to try to play with mods, but I have a problem; I carefully followed a guide and installed the latest versions of these mods:
it probably doesnt work with one of my graphics cards, my laptop has two and for some reason a lot of my games only work with one of the two graphcis cards, but the games normally just crash. how do i change the SMAPI graphics device?
The easiest way is to open a terminal, navigate to the game folder, and run ./StardewModdingAPI. Then the window should stay open when the game crashes.
but when I try to start the game I get this error, I already tried to reinstall the mod, the game but nothing works:

Essentially, security risk is the short version. You need a really old libssl which was retired for security reasons
It's fixed in 1.6 (net 6 uses 3.0) but for now up to you on whether you need it or not

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

I am going more and more insane.
OK. Can someone suggest to me a mod that adds A CHARACTER or A MAP AREA, and that uses the below prereqs, but is much smaller than SVE or Ridgeside? I am trying to install mods on my Android phone and while all of the mods below load and the game plays fine, as soon as I load SVE or Ridgeside, the game quits at the first 10-minute clock tick.
So now I've become slightly obsessed with figuring out what's causing the failure. SMAPI log shows no errors. I'm using a device with 16GB of RAM, so I doubt it's the RAM, but who knows. What I'd like to do now is find some smaller mods that activate these frameworks in a limited way just so I can figure out what framework is crashing. What do you suggest for troubleshooting?

don't get discouraged. it's easy to make mistakes if you're overwriting the game's data files (which is why we don't recommend it)

That looks almost correct! You have one last step to go before those mods in there are installed: Take them out of the zip files.

The picture you sent earlier had most of the files still in their zips; only the default SMAPI-component mods and Expanded Preconditions Utility were not packed away in .zip files

For some reason, you have a non-mod folder named Save Backups in your Mods folder. SMAPI doesn't know why it's there and is telling you about it

so i have a bunch of mods installed and been playing like this for awhile. If I was to uninstal durians rest and riverside valley, and keep playing the same save file. how bad will I mess things up? and if after i get a bunch of achievements after removing them, if i reinstal it...? 😛 lol

if your save isn't in your saves folder, and it's not in your save-backups folder, and you didn't back it up anywhere else, then it's gone. it's time to move on

(Also game taking a while to load is normal considering you have both SVE and RSV. Try installing "SpriteMaster" or "FastLoads" to mitigate this. But pick just one, not both at the same time.)

I'm not sure if it still applies to this day, but I used to play with a friend and I had a mod installed that gave me access to a cave inside the mushroom cave, and my friend didn't, the only thing that happened is him seeing me walking through walls and disappearing when I was entering the cave.
I think the issues will differ from mod to mod, but TLDR is probably to get everyone using the same mods

well, with steam link you would be streaming it from your PC
but i dont think PC version of stardew supports touch controls, so you'd still have to use at least a controller?

For me the point here is to be able to play it on my couch or when I'm commuting (I understand signal would be needed.) So streaming is ... not an awful thought. Not ideal but not awful. And that might be a solution for some mobile people going forward. Not all, but some. I've never used Steam Link, I just know of its existence.
steam link could be an option, and probably would let you play modded too
And if 1.6 hits but Android is absolutely dead, "here's how to use Steam Link" might be a suggestion going forward. Hmmmmm might try it.
of course with modded, the lack of keyboard might be an issue with the lack of hotkeys since i assume steam link would emulate a controller via on screen buttons
but if you're using mods that dont have any special hotkey menus it's probably fine

its hard to troubleshoot whats going wrong when we cant see what errors the event is producing
mainly because A) we need to see what's specifically causing it, which the error will show
And B ) Abigail's 6 heart is in town and boy howdy are there a LOT of mods which edit Data/Events/Town
So we need to see if it's a bad event command or the whole game breaking (the latter implies a C# mod, the former a bad edit to Data/Events/Town), and if the former we then need to break down your list by which ones are good and which ones may not be.

tbh, one of several things could be the case
#1: you edited the audio bank sounds yourself with a XNB mod
#2: The edits to that event were really poorly coded

your log is throwing the following error:
16:33:19 WARN SAAT.API Could not find a Cue with the name "nightTime
". See logs for details.
nightTime is a vanilla audio cue. This means whenever it would play - in an event, normally, etc. - it will suddenly and unequivocably die and crash your game
This is something that's fixed in 1.6 (and thank god, because the one time it changed audio cue wise my entire save was borked for a while).
But in 1.5.6, you've only got two options - fix the bugged cue call (because it has a lot of extra spaces) or fix the audio thing being broken.
And as it's a vanilla audio cue, it will happen. You won't be able to avoid it, it will happen.
(Not just with Abigail's 6 heart, mind. I think Shane's 2 heart would be similarly affected, same for most other night events.)
As for fixing it... I'm not certain the path for the audio changes, but if it's a badly coded event, then you've got the following to search through:
I can at least eliminate ARV, ES, Boarding House, Juliet and Jessie, Mr. Ginger, Juna, Jorts and Jean, Rodney, Lunna, Jasper, Leilani, Lavril, and PPAF from that along with my own Unique Winter Star (UWS only adds a mail flag to the Pam/Penny house event, doesn't target audio cues anywhere)
But the rest are all possible. I'd start with disabling the ones that obviously affect Abigail's 6 heart, and if disabling all of them doesn't give you a working 6 heart, it's the audio being screwed with.
And that's a much worse fix if you're not using XNB.

You just need to wait it out. You spamming tab shift doesn't actually do anything.
It's black for a long time because the game simply takes that long to load.
Because you have two big expansion mods.
And no FastLoads.
It would normally take the longest when you first load your save.

If your save file suddenly reverted back to a previous version, most likely it's Steam Cloud mishaps.

So on top of reading Mod page descriptions, check to see if there are articles and comments on top of Bug reports for the full picture. It's also why I'm a big proponent for '5 mods at a time, or just 1 expansion,' when it comes to actually installing them. The number of mods someone has on their name took them months to curate.
90% of bug reports are in comments, unfortunately.

It's fine that you didn't know the difference, by the by, it's just to modders those terms have very different meanings
the inside of the store is the map, whereas the place you buy stuff is the shop
(Esp with 1.6 on the Horizon since the Maps are in Maps and the shops are in Data/Shops)
