the [CP] folder is the part that hooks into content patcher
the [JA] folder hooks into Json Assets
The [FTM] folder handles the mod's farm. The [JA] folder handles the items. [SAAT] the sound and [STF] the merchants.
devs split up their code like that because the parts that hook into each framework are all technically separate mods but they all assemble together like lego to form the finished product.

FTM actually handles forage, logs, rocks, etc. PFM handles machines, but I don't think SVE adds any so there's no PFM component.

you just have to overwrite the original character sprites
the naver xnb could be named for the korean version of the game though so you have to replace the english version if that makes sense

It happens when I smack artifact spots (the little squigly worm looking spots on the ground) They are not working at all. I will also throw in a photo of what the error looks like, but it should be the last thing I did in the game in the log, though I do not see it

If you don't touch your computer at all after hitting o k, it'll never come up.

And therefore you would have to close it out at that point

That is not the case. I don't know your specific error but I know that doesn't get thrown in the main game.

It's my second suspect, but it's just the error itself you had is commonly seen with Custom Music, not because of issues with SAAT compatibility. Pretty sure SAAT is required to even have files for Custom Music.

You...Have a Mods folder on the quick access. Is this the only game you're trying to mod?
I'm asking because the Mods folder is an empty folder added into the Stardew Valley Folder automatically after installing and running Smapi.
Can you find the Stardew Valley Folder and show us what it looks like?

so i have two main computers i play this game on and i was wondering if modding the game would mess with steam cloud saves?

So this is going to sound strange since you might believe they do, but mods don't mess with saves in that way
Mod data is stored on saves themselves. At worst, vanilla just can't load modded saves. But it'll never touch anything in your saves folder outside of the save itself.
Steam therefore doesn't know if a save is modded or not, just syncs the files themselves

You don't have Portraiture or HDP installed and I believe you need at least one
!pytk however, don't get pytk - it's a listed req but it is not needed in game anymore
The PyTK mod is now obsolete. You can delete it from your mods folder, and all your mods should be safe.
If you get an error saying you're missing PyTK, open the mod(s) manifest.json and change the PyTK dependency from true to false

Hello! I have a but if an issue, when I maximize the game it does this weird shifting thing a lot. Does anyone know a solution? Also when I try open the game in fullscreen it crashes, and when itās not fully maximized for some reason the stardew window is bigger than my display so I canāt see the bottom.. sorry if this is a lot :ā)

your screen resolution is too small to fit the window
so it fights
you could try using the auto-hide taskbar option in Windows, maybe it will help
or check if you're running at the max resolution available in Windows display settings

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.
If you find a mod bug on Android, first make sure that:
a) you have the latest SMAPI version from https://github.com/ZaneYork/SMAPI-Android-Installer/releases;
b) you have the latest mod version(s) or have the last-known Android-compatible version;
c) and the mod author hasn't already addressed it on the mod page (e.g. via an Android-specific version or comments).

Is there any way to break out of an error loop and save progress up to the point of the error? I was on the way home in in my daughter's game, and it's erroring the same way over and over. I'll feel really bad if I just ruined her whole day of SDV by not taking the fastest route home...

My guess is you have a bad warp and in that case you cannot save the game, sorry.

No, while the game is open and smapi is in use it prevents deletion of assets in use. You can UPDATE them but never delete them

(My daughter is 6, for context, and fully believes I can magically make Stardew do anything she wants as long as I put enough time into it. SpriteMaster (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4922) is a mod that resamples the game's graphics to be smoother and improves performance. It is highly configurable and you can choose which options to enable.
Yeah, I think the version supposedly for either SVE or vanilla had a problem with a missing file, actually, so I had to download the file in the optional section... I THINK that was Cindersnap. It was the only mistake I initially caught, and I only caught it because SMAPI tagged it in red in the console. I can't remember if I overwrote or deleted and did a fresh download.
You don't need that anymore. You can delete the file you have and redownload it.
It comes pre-equipped with the patch in the base file as of September 22 last year

- (JA) Fantasy Crops because you have multiple copies of this mod installed. To fix this, delete these folders and reinstall the mod: Mods/[JA] Fantasy Crops, Mods/PPJA Mega Pack-1935-NA-1608588583/[JA] Fantasy Crops.

Yep, that's the one that didn't work and showed up red in SMAPI. Also, before I added Cindersnap, I had...some other location down there. One I hadn't figured out yet.
So I used the optional file and it gave me a staircase near Marnie, but the bus entrance remained. I probably should have deleted it then...

Hi! I'm super new to any modding at all and I have an android s21 and I downloaded SMAPI and moved all the mods to the mods folder but the game crashed as soon as I opened it.. I'm very lost please help. (Originally, I thought it was as simple as just putting the mods in the game and opening the game but apparently it isn't? I'm so confused.. Do I have to get a new copy of adv entirely?)

The optional file seems to be the whole mod over again, which is what makes it hard to confirm whether I deleted and replaced with the optional version, overwrote, OR I allowed it to merge without overwriting.

No way to rescue this particular day of farming? She'll be disappointed, but she understands glitches happen. I just feel bad that it's because I went to C Circle instead of straight home.

I might also talk to my daughter about whether she cares about C Circle or if I can remove it. Am I forgetting anything? I wanna spare y'all another round dealing with my glitches if possible.
No glitches, and a lot of mods I don't recognize. Unfortunately anything with npcs or reflections populates the game so visible fishes and dynamic reflections might have to go based on performance, but those are the only ones that stood out as potentially problematic.
Then again, I'm juggling four things rn so if you still have issues later I could do a more thorough dive

if you're playing multiplayer then you will all need to have the same mods installed. the exceptions being some small alt texture things or portraits

Creative Warehouse Shed is not out of date, it just has a bad update key or something. I know it's up to date but even if I redownload it it throws that it needs an update.
(you can disable update checks for specific mods, or you can edit the manifest and update the version number to the expected value)

well, i'm not sure what the cause is, but you definitely got a lot of errors when the game tried to ship your items at end of day
My current running theory is that it was Chests Anywhere changing the Shipping Bin. I've disabled that feature, so I'm testing it now.
oftentimes the stack trace from null reference exceptions like these will indicate a harmony method patch, but i don't see any specific one called out
anything messing with the shipping bin is a good candidate in this case. good thinking to test that one

The only thing I can think of is something funky is happening because both Lance and Gunther aren't actual NPCs before certain conditions are fulfilled, and those triggers weren't working right for her.

There's already an item called Horse Flute in game that does the same thing, so I'm assuming Pillow meant why don't you just use CJB Item Spawner to give you the Horse Flute.

Excuse me, I just downloaded the Split Rooms Spouse, but it tells me that it can't work unless I have the Custom Rooms Spouse, but the details are that I already have it, but it is the Dexus version. Does anyone know how to fix that? o Should I necessarily download the Custom Spouse room?

hello, I used to play modded SV a long time ago and want to retake it , however, the modding api is telling me I have to update almost all my mods and that some will break the next major SMAPI update, so I have two questions, firstly, is there a way to update the mods without reinstalling them one by one? and also, how do i deal with the mods 'breaking'?
- no, you have to do it all manually 2. the message about mods breaking is for an upcoming version of smapi, not the one youre on right now. you can still play with those mods and choose to ignore the warning but keep in mind some may become unusable in 1.6 if the author doesnt update them

Nexus recently enabled stricter anti-DDOS protection, which means that many update-check requests to Nexus are failing. That results in SMAPI seeing a new version on ModDrop and an error from Nexus, so it links to ModDrop instead. It's something I need to look into, but I'll need to rework how the update checks work.

The farmhouse has a lot of tiles that aren't properly incorporated into the house, but also notably if you have ANY other mods that change the interior of the house they may be what's putting that pillar there
So there's a few potential causes for this

Someone earlier had this exact mod farmhouse and this issue and it wasn't something that could be fixed.
Definitely best bet would be to post the video you showed here on Lnh's page as a bug
If the tiles aren't set with the correct properties, it won't matter what you try to do to it.

There was an older bug with this exact house where a single tile was unable to be changed beyond the default tileset

i'm getting an error for my fishing mod, and one for base game for steam which i'm assuming the latter means i just need to load up original game again through steam, but not sure about the other two errorss..

The other one looks like an issue w a number in the config (?). Try to make the chance lower. Maybe in your config.json instead of gmcm
If you're using Steam or GOG on Windows, you will need to set your launch options in order for Steam/GOG to automatically launch with SMAPI. The SMAPI installer will tell you what to set as the launch options when it completes (green text). i reset the fishing mod as a whole so it's the default chances, and after is when i realized something was wrong. i would fish up treasure, it would open the box and then immediately go away w/ no treasure UI so that's why i did the log thingy to check, so it should be defaulted

hi again xD so i have downloaded some mods for like changing the sprite for my cat, and it's just the .xnb file and i followed as it says on nexus, to put it in the specific file folder in the program files, however, it doesn't show me the option to choose it on a new save. also having an issue with having downloaded a mod through stardrop, (item spawner) and it doesn't pop up in my mod options in game so i can customize the pull up buttons, etc. it IS selected in stardrop so i know it's enabled. h a l p. Just try deactivating only SVE and then loading the game again.
Because for SVE, it doesn't just add new NPCs. It also alters NPC pathing of the vanilla NPCs as well as doing various many other alterations.

as for why I dislike the approach, it's a copy-and-paste of some game code with one bit changed, so it doesn't fix all the other issues with that bit of game code

- DFS doesn't need to be deduplicated like that, it should be deduplicated when finding the next node, not when you have a path. This is the 1.6 change.
- DFS is the wrong bloody algo anyways, it doesn't look at shortest path, use BFS.)

Not on Steam Deck. Switching between the two would require manually removing mods which I imagine is not what you view as easy.

If you are willing to alpha-test Stardrop mod manager on Steam Deck (in the Desktop Mode), you can try the unofficial Flatpak version of Stardrop (https://flathub.org/apps/io.github.Adda0.Stardrop). It is in alpha, but the functionality is there, and only some minor (in my opinion) issues and workarounds remain. You can create a profile for modded playthrough and another for the unmodded version (both running with SMAPI, but one with mods and the other with no mods). Alternatively, you can run modded version through SMAPI with a Stardrop modded profile, and run the normal vanilla Stardew using the vanilla Stardew executable.

That's...Only partially true. That's a Ridgeside bug with the phantom greenhouse until you finish the quest to unlock it. 3.18.6 handles load times better on start up. 
(I've never heard of people using 3.18.4 as a workaround since the freezing doesn't crash the game itself given how stable 3.18.6 is)

No, you have to first unlock the quest from a cutscene, and the issue resolves itself upon completion of the quest. The issue only exists while the quest to unlock the greenhouse is active.
(It's mostly just an issue with the greenhouse spawning in at midnight. That's the cause of the freezing.)

There's a greenhouse in ridgeside that is unlocked as a secret side quest deep into the actual storyline.
You also need to reinstall Smapi regardless of if you upgrade to 3.18.6 or not because you're missing a vital component that prevents crashes and helps with microstutters-Error Handler. It installs itself upon installing Smapi. (You don't need to delete or uninstall your current smapi, it overwrites itself and adds in anything you're missing into the Mods Folder.)
None of them work for android, for the 8th time.
Most "expansion" mods depend on the same frameworks, so they tend to all work or all not work depending on if the frameworks are supported

Okay so that's a super old mod, and exists from before the BFAV update where manual config.json management was neccesary. I'm not entirely sure it even works but there's a tool for you to copy paste the .json into if you're not confident in doing it yourself.

I have the unofficial version. I got it to work with BFAV bears- putting the info in the config, I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with adding in the armadillos (which is supposed to work the same way the bears do)

Okay THAT is how it did it. Reverse the edits from the armadillo, you're barely even able to mod this in.
You'd have to make a content.json and several other edits to get armadillos to work, essentially making your own mod.

I reset the config. The animals that don't need added to the config show back up and so do the bears - so I'm assuming the bears had been updated to not needing to be in the cofig and the armadillos may be a lost cause ?
Yes. I was hoping we could trick the system (I was reading the json files for them on my phone) but it would have required far more editing than I can comfortably advise someone to do. It's essentially redoing a mod.
one last question - in the content file for armadillos is says format 1.5 - should i change that to 3 to match ?

Find steam in program files or wherever you have it. Go to steamapps, then common, then stardew valley. There should be something that says "stardewmoddingAPI.exe' or something similar. You have to click shift, hold it, and then right click on that. It should pull up a window and you need to click 'copy as path' then go to your settings and put that in.

can you describe what happens when the game crashes? is it a hard crash? (meaning the program abruptly quits to desktop and the SMAPI terminal closes)

It happens during the loading screen between maps. It hasn't been one specific transition either. I've had it happen walking into my house from the farm, going from floor to floor in the skull caverns, etc. It immediately stops letting me move my mouse and I get the window that pops up telling me that it has stopped responding. I've played into fall with no issues and then I installed a few more mods after checking to confirm that they should not cause any issues due to being added to an existing world. The issue seemed to start a few in game days after adding the new mods. The big ones I added that I can remember are East Scarp, and Ridgeside Village.
The PyTK mod is now obsolete. You can delete it from your mods folder, and all your mods should be safe.
If you get an error saying you're missing PyTK, open the mod(s) manifest.json and change the PyTK dependency from true to false

Ridgeside causes massive bottlenecking with npc schedules due to the sheer number.
im now having issues with SMAPI opening up with the game, i have it installed but i dont know why it wouldnt be coming up when i open the game
The not responding is usually a red herring load that happens commonly both at the start and when npc schedules refresh. Spritemaster will optimize this a lot. Also, pytk can cause issues with game performance.
That's by design, that means it's working.
You can just minimize Smapi-it's there in case you need to debug your game and indicates mods are running

Try finding the StardewModdingApi you used earlier and double click it. This will run the smapi console.. I usually have it set as a shortcut

Yep, pytk lite is functionally pointless. Any mod you have with a pytk dependency can just be manually set to false in the manifest.json. (Don't touch anything else, just set the PyTK dependency as false where it says true.)
Spritemaster will help reduce load times, and the weird texture resampling "hd effect" can be toggled off.

it's creating an NPC which isn't loading correctly. that broken NPC ends up crashing the game because the content manager can't figure it out

(Bookcase probably isn't hurting you, but i think that's an ancient curseforge mod and it definitely isn't working, so i would delete it)

so go in the folder for that and delete it
(I meant the 1.6 build of PyTk. I just checked and that's the one for testing alpha, so...why is that even in the pack?)

*Are there were load time optimizations? *I am using Expanded with ridgeside amoung others and my game takes a good while longer to load than i'd expect my hard ware to handle, "program waits to respond" often too
Can I allocate more Ram to Stardew or use a optimize mod?

SpriteMaster (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4922) is a mod that resamples the game's graphics to be smoother and improves performance. It is highly configurable and you can choose which options to enable.
install one of SpriteMaster or Fast Loads
This and also use dedicated graphics card if you can.
Setting SDV and SMAPI to high priority in your processor settings also wouldn't hurt.

It's just because the npcs unfortunately have resource bottlenecking with their schedules, which is getting fixed drastically in 1.6. (Still coming when it's coming.)

One or the other! Not both. I use Spritemaster, with the 'hd' resampling turned off.
Profiler https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/12135 is a mod that can help you narrow down what's causing lag
just ignore whatever it says about spritemaster as it logs the entire time spent loading. Dunno if fast loads does using profiler.
So is Sprite master better or Fast Loads better?
Ehhh, I prefer SM because of customization options but it's mostly just "If one for, whatever reason, doesn't work-the other will."
i think it depends on your loadout. i've heard of each one giving certain people difficulties
(unrelated to how effective they are, i appreciate that Fast Loads has one job and is named after that job. a mod called "Spritemaster" being responsible for improving game load performance bothers me)
(It doesn't even like the gaming looking like sprites. The name itself is kinda an oxymoron
)
So all-in-all my performance is unchanged, but it seems its to be expected, takes me 3 minutes to get in game

(Nice eye, didn't even see that.) Yeah Spritemaster doesn't work with that version of Smapi-3.18.6 specifically has a workaround to function with it and start time is improved.
