The thing is.. any of those old mods could've had bug fixes in their updates. And the interactions btwn mods gets complex. Sometimes a little error in one thing messes up a totally unrelated thing.

All the old xnb replace stuff is done better w CP, yeah. With CP you don't have to worry about messing up your game files

you can go to the content patcher mod page, click on the requirements tab and scroll down a bit until you see "mods that require this file"
keep in mind you can only have one mod that replaces one thing
so you can't have two mods that replace animals, for example

right click the non-steam game shortcut, click properties, click on the icon, change the filetype it's looking for to Image Files
and then go looking in your filesystem for whatever icon you want

Smapi doesn't get installed like mods cuz it's not actually a mod btw
You gotta run the installer. Choose windows bat.
It'll take care of the old SMAPI version itself too
So it doesn't go in your Mods folder. I usually extract to desktop and open it and then delete the installer after I'm done installing
And all those mods with the numbers at the end of their names are actually still zipped so they won't load.
Tractor Mod looks like it's fine from here (no #s, just name) so unzip the mods you wanna install
So do all that and if you still have problems, then grab a log and share it here 🍀

Extra Map Layers because you have multiple copies of this mod installed. To fix this, delete these folders and reinstall the mod: Mods\Extra Map Layers-9633-0-3-3-1657841105\ExtraMapLayers, Mods\ExtraMapLayers.
in your mods folder there are two Extra Map Layers Folders
Delete one - probably the one with all the numbers

Not that I know of. The instructions on the site supposedly denote that steam deck is the linux instructions
believe me, if it's different I would 100% suggest an update to the site

Hi!! I'm new to modding and I have two questions about my mods. One question is I recently added all my HD portraits into one folder but I have one normal portrait in my portraiture mod folder because I couldn't find an HD version so I don't know what to do with it. My second question is, I installed Stardew and Chill to change the music in game and it changes the theme music on the loading screen and selecting player, but doesn't change the normal stardew music once I get into the game.

My portrait mod was just working then I added another person with png in the folder the same way I did before and now "p" isn't working to cycle through the portraits that I want. I also put my error log in the SMAPI log parser and there's no errors on anything. The only thing with HD Portraits is that it can't load portraits for maru which makes no sense because I never touched maru in the content.json, or confi.json. I NEED HELP!!!!!
NOTE: I need edit the content.json and confi.json the same way I did the night before and the mod was working earlier until I added the new images into the folder and added them to the files, but the log parser says nothing about those just maru. But that doesn't explain why the mod doesn't allow me to cycle through to change the portraits.

I just want to say that my issue is the HD Portrait mod stopped working and I know it's not because of Pytk
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!! I haven't started any game play because I haven't been happy with certain mods so it's trial and error type of thing and now, I have to wait longer because my portraits aren't working and at the same time my sprites stopped working also.
The stuff in the Trace is saying a. there's nothing in the path 'Mods/HDPortraits/Maru' and b. there's no data for "Maru_"
So...looks like there's an errant underscore somewhere!
I made a new log after I started up my game again to see if it said anything else about the characters not having data etc..

I never touched Maru, Evelyn, Lewis, or Harvey in the content.json or confij.json when editing it

Well nobody here knows what you've written in that config and that link lets you both share it via the SMAPI site (like you did wit hthe log) and shows you if it's malformed somehow

My problem originally was that I had multiple portrait mods and I couldn't mix and match in the game so I didn't know how to solve that issue
Nexus didn't have an anime portrait mod for SVE and RSV so I looked up if I could add things to the config.json and content.json. It was working earlier, but stopped working even though I was adding mods to change sprites.
I will go back to the originally files but I don't know how I'm going to pick just one portrait mod for everyone in my game.

I kind of feel like it should have red-errored and whatever mod was loading it should get a bug report that it handles that json without outputting any errors to the log
I looked up how to combined stuff and wrote things a certain way and it did work until i guess it noticed errors

It's a miracle it worked the first time. Can't you just replace the portraits inside Rsv/Sve? That's certainly a lot more straight forward.

No, and sorry. HD portraits need special steps and I have a personal vendetta against AI generated portraits so this is the most I will do unfortunately.

Swap back to the JA version of PPJA
The DGA version is known to be broken, the modder used a machine converter that didn't quite work right, uploaded it with very little testing, and immediately left modding
wouldn't it remove everything added from the dga if i switch back
DGA version of PPJA is incompatible with most mods.

Debris breaking, monster knockback not working, warps taking forever....
oh so it's probably just caused because of how many mods we got, we didn't have a problem before with around 30 mods, but I'm guessing 95 can cause major lag

You can add a false dependency to the manifest.json of the mod you want to load last. That kinda looks like this...

In that case, the cow should be from the last mod, all the other animals from the first one.

can you try deleting the '_portrait' part?
Mixplorer is a very good looking file manager that has Android/data access (with 10 years of development history)
You can't move or create anything into the Android/data. (You would need to do a bug to do this)
BUT, you can move into pre-existing folders (the com.%appname% folders)

are you using another mod to make the portraits HD or did you install them by themselves?
dcburger’s portraits are upscaled so you need to use HD portraits or another portrait framework iirc

You open the manifest.json
And change the Version Number to the correct version
West Elm should be 1.1.0
Divine Decor should be 2.2.0 (make sure you really did update..)
The manifest.json is a file inside each mod folder.. you know?
I can't vouch for the others cuz I don't have them. But if you're positive you have the latest versions, just edit the version numbers so they match. In the same way as above

Hi, I was wondering if someone can help me figure this out since I had been having this problem last year and I never figured out how to fix it. I uninstalled mods back then and I notice everything was okay except my journal. I made sure I uninstalled smapi but other than that I have no clue.

Reinstall SMAPI, add cjb cheats, try removing the quest
If it works, sleep to save that and then remove SMAPI again
If you don't want to lose a day, you can time travel backwards a day before sleeping, although keep an eye out for any errors this might cause—if you do see an error, then just don't sleep, re-enter the save, and give up on time travel backwards.

that's not the cjb cheats menu, use P to open it and look at the quests available to complete
SMAPI can't read png files alone. You'd need to see if the mod has a content patcher version, or make one yourself

my bad I didn't show but I did open the cheat mod with "p" 'but it didn't have the option to delete it. I looked into my Nexus history of downloading mods and downloaded them all again and luckily my journal is back to normal but I cannot delete the journal so I'm guessing I would have to complete it then?

I resized the image twice to (512) for the width but when I start up the game, the image keeps going back to (533).. I don't know why it keeps going back to the original size and why it won't keep the new size. ?????
If the size isn't 512 for width then I don't know what it is for the image to fit the portrait.

Is step 3 the unpacking step or to be done after unpacking the zip?
The HD Anime mod has a wizard image that's not the right size to fit in the portrait. I'm trying to adjust the size while in preview but I don't know what width (in pixels) it should be. I also notice my wizard sprite doesn't change to a female while the other males are female sprites.

if it's around 100 that's good, 200 is ok, above 500 is getting rough
The two of you should have the same versions of the same mods
Especially for C# mods and mods like Fashion Sense or JsonAssets packs that add new content rather than retexturing existing items
in general, 55 mods is not that many, and the issues you describe sound mostly like network issues
Question: Does anyone know if or when SMAPI 1.5 for Mobile will be done? I used to check on the Official GitHub Page, But their Thread About 1.5 Version was Limited to Contributors Only, due to someone being rude and spamming a copypasta there... Just curious, that's all...

Idk on what basis he says it's not network issues, but the ping should provide a bit more insight
you will want to check it several times since it can fluctuate
however I did once play on 1500 ping and...well, I didn't disconnect lol but it was rough at times

if you do find that you are still having network issues, unfortunately sometimes the additional load from modded content can cause disconnects/lag for farmhands—often the data has to go farmhand -> host -> farmhand, which means you take the ping time, multiply by 2, and divide by 1000 to get the delay in seconds
and the more data has to do that, the harder the strain on the connection
I definitely can't say that it's impossible to play MP modded, not when I do it regularly with around 123 mods, but you may need to be selective about any mods that would affect synched content like maps, NPCs, and such—it's unfortunately very situational which mods seem to be "too much"
the content patcher purely aesthetic stuff I think is local bc host/farmhand can have differences

Files with the extension .zip, .rar, or .7z are archive files, which you can extract to get the actual files inside. For a .zip file, just right-click (or long-press on Android) it and choose the option like extract or uncompress. For .rar and .7z, you need to install third-party software first, like 7-zip https://7-zip.org/ on Windows (get the x64 version), Keka https://keka.io/ on macOS, PeaZip https://peazip.github.io/ on Linux, or ZArchiver https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.zdevs.zarchiver on Android.
I see that the android version is in Alpha so I will play it to test it out, it looks very hard to get working so I'll see how it goes

but we've come a very long way

what you can do now is copy the smapi-internal folder from the zip file you downloaded from github and paste it into Android/data/com.zane.stardewvalley/files/
that should fix the error and you can load the game and mods (some working ones)
Yeah what's weird is the com.zane.stardewvalley doesn't exist doesn't some reason 🥲 I messed up somewhere
you should have the folder once you open the patched game with error or without
you can try to start all over again but skip the extract process at start and extract the smapi-internal after

Android here, looks to be running fine with a couple of mods actually working but Content Patcher is spamming error codes on the console.
Is that fine or will it lead to game crashes?

Content patcher isn't working 
if it's about the latest alpha, you're not gonna get any support for it here
Yeah mine is being weird but that's okay I'll wait for the next update
It's just being like "Oh that place doesn't exist" but it's there I can see it
My mods all either crashed or weren't updated so we will try again when it's out of Alpha
