RAR files are very similar to ZIP files, but Windows/macOS don't work with them out of the box

no luck when you remove some of them?
My log says nothing is wrong but the only way I can get SMAPI to run on my desktop is if I delete startup data under %appdata% everytime. If I don't in wont load up all the way the game window just stays white and turns not responding even if I don't click the window. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a permanent fix I can do. The game plays fine It just is a little annoying to do it every time I want play.

It'll load for 5-10 min before going unresponsive and even if there are no mods in the mod file
again try removing everything but console commands, error handler, tmxl, pytk and spacecore (and that one farmhouse mod)

Hey guys how could i go about turning off monster spawns on IF2 i enabled them at the start but its awful, i have farm type manager but in the data folder i dont see my farmers name and when i open my farm it says that spawns are false. Any other way to disable this easily?

If anyone else has this problem you can go into appdata to access your current saved farm, then open your farm file with notepad and find should spawn monsters change the value from true to false save and close.

Event Repeater is meant to be more of a framework for mod makers to create events that can be repeated (eg Date Night)

I got a syntax error, I believe, in the log and it said something about a corruption, but I didn't get to fully read it before it closed the game entirely, it was right as I was going to sleep
I don't actually see it in the log, unless it's just hidden and categorized with all the other random junk that sometimes pops up

If your save us corrupted you will have a bunch of red errors and you'll know something is wrong

I don't keep the game at full screen because of my screen's size, makes it less laggy when I have my buttload of mods, so I saw SMAPI screaming about something to do with an error. I clicked on SMAPI to open the console fully to read it, shortly after, it and the game closed without warning
It was grey / white text, but it was a lot of text so it had caught my eye
I didn't have time to screenshot it either because it happened so quickly
The only errors I see are re your portrait mods.

No no, it wasn't anything like that. It was text I've never seen before despite my months of modding
Normally I can figure out the causes of my errors quite easily ( And I did just notice one of my skins is buggy, gotta fix that, misnumbered a chicken ). I loaded up the save and it seems to be fine
It was the last thing in the log at the end of the day as I went to sleep, normal text color, large amount of text.. Hm. Maybe I can make a copy of this save to get into the sewers again to buy from Krobus, see if that'd replicate it

Using furniture that use Custom Furniture isn't recommended, especially when people try that in multiplayer. Try to find furniture that use DGA instead
If you see DGA in the mod name or mod requirement, means that furniture mod use DGA

I just got an Xbox One controller to play the game on my Macbook Pro through Steam. I am used to playing on my Switch and wanted to try mods on my computer, but dislike using keyboard/mouse controls. I’m trying to configure my Xbox controller to mirror almost exactly how the Switch controller is set up, but I’m having trouble with this. Either the buttons don’t sync up the way I want, or they don’t work at all! I start the game through SMAPI btw
I am able to connect my controller via bluetooth and have steam recognize it. The rest is a mystery to me
i cant stand this...ill have house retextures in my game but when i go to the mod folder theres no assets showing the houses- like how the fuck is this in my game
SMAPI 3.18.0 raised deprecation levels to the final stage, meaning SMAPI will now show yellow warning dialogues for mods with deprecated code. For the user, this just means that the mods have old code and will break in SMAPI 4.0 if they are not updated - it is not anything to worry about at this time. (For mod authors, it's a not-nice warning to update your code already!

apparently we may not be able to use .NET 6 (I think) on android, which is what SMAPI/SMAPI mods are going to be using in the future(again, can't remember correctly). But take all of that with a lot of salt
the carry chest mod doesnt work for me, i pressed all the hotkeys available and i got nothing

while it looks like it includes .NET 5, it seems like ZaneYork is not using .NET 5 types - i'm assuming because for whatever reason they can't
so it doesn't look that good
so they had to replace those in SMAPI's code
which may by itself cause some mod compatibility problems already

I don't know if I understood what happened.
Custom Crystalarium patch the dropItem method of the machine, so everything happen in one go. If your other item was took later, it was probably not custom crystalarium, unless you clicked with it again.
Also, there are 3 configurations to place items, and an additional block change property, that won't let you change the item inside without removing the machine from the ground. (Which now, even on vanilla, give the item inside back)
The 3 configurations are:
default - you can change the item inside, and lost whatever it cloning, unless you remove it from the ground.
on change - you get your item back it you change the item inside. It's the same as when you remove it from the ground, but you get the item back without having to remove it frm the ground. With this one the only consequence of miss clicking is reset the cloning time, but you don't loose no item and can place it back again.
immediately - If you place a new item inside the machine is ready immediately. So you already get your object back. So no future getting it back again is needed. In that configuration, changing the item inside or removing the machine from the ground, won't give you any item.
All these properties on the config work for the crystalarium.
Custom cloner have these same properties on their configuration, so you can change them on their content pack.
But there is also a property that let you override these configurations for all cloners. (Besides Arcane Table, I don't know any other custom cloner)

There is no working android SMAPI right now, after the mobile 1.5 release. No Android SMAPI means no mods on Android right now. ZaneYork, the developer of Android SMAPI, has said he will work on it when he has time. Hmm.. I see. I believe I have it set to "immediately." So when I put something in it, I can get the original back immediately and the copy whenever it's done (right?).
What happened is that I loaded the crystalarium machines w Cinder Shards and then picked up the "immediate" ones. Then I switched to a different inventory slot and was holding a soap item and accidentally clicked an in-process crystalarium, which replaced the cinder shard w the soap. I got the soap back immediately.
I haven't had that happen since playing in vanilla (I remember it being such an annoying issue). If that's not possible to do with CC, it's also possible I had an empty machine, I guess. I have only 4 or 5 crystalariums right now. Does that make sense, lol

Edit: wrote in wrong config setting. I have it set to "get back immediately" (at least, I should! That's the one I was using before. Maybe I set it up w the wrong setting after the last recent update 🤔 🫣 I will check.)
I don't have Custom Cloner/Arcane Table, only Custom Crystalarium btw.
I'm not sure about whether I have the "Block Change" setting enabled but it sounds like that's what would work best for me haha
well, if you do manage to get the specific 1.4 build that used to work with the specific version of Android SMAPI, then sure, you can still use that

Yep. You'll have to use older versions of a mod.
(for some inexpicable reason, at least one of the pirated versions of stardew mobile 1.4 tries to load NET standard types, which also fails)
(also it's likely that SMAPI won't be able to sign pirated copies)

🪨 I've been trying to figure out what's going on with my caves... my farm cave and the custom area from SVR3 for the "secret railroad cave" are totally empty - they won't spawn any items.
Farm Cave should be spawning artifacts b/c I have FCF and Lumi's Artifact content pack for it. Secret RR cave should be spawning vanilla ore nodes, slimes, and one seasonal forage item per day.
Neither is doing what it's supposed to and I'm not sure where the problem is. 🤷🏽♀️
I think they both use FTM to control the spawn items and rates, though I'm not sure where SVR3 has its data b/c I don't see a FTM folder in its mod folder.
Also not sure if CON has anything to do with it. The empty caves issue seemed to happen after I installed CON. Neither cave should spawn custom ore nodes, however, so not sure if they could be related 🫤
If anybody has Any ideas, please shout em out! Fine to ping me 
Does PPJA cause problems for people in their games, bugs, crashes etc? Seems like the culprit for my modding issues. Every other mod works fine but PPJA/Artisan valley mods seems to not work well
the only issue i have with them is lag bc i have so many mods

No, not for me. I have all the PPJA mods.
What crash are you having w PPJA?
Could def be a crash while having ppja installed but caused by other mods
sometimes FTM content.json file gets messed up when FTM rewrites it i think. if that's not it the log might have some useful trace messages from FTM
I posted a lot a few days ago, and troubleshooted, finding out that it's only PPJA mods that cause me to crash on startup on steam deck. The logs didn't show anything, and it worked fine on PC.
I went through one by one of all my mods, all other mods work
but who knows, maybe I'm the first to try PPJA on steam deck?
not saying that they definitely can't cause problems, but PPJA mods generally use common frameworks though for the code part
so you wouldn't expect them to cause random crashes without some indications on the log
good to know. Idk, I painstakingly went through every mod, adding 3 or 4 at a time to the game, starting a new save game, then seeing if I would crash. I anticipated SVE or ridgeside or one of the bigger mods to be the culprit, but right now I have all my mods, plus a few extra, minus PPJA, and no crashes now. And the crashes happened every single time I loaded into the game on the first day, I didn't even load in enough to get out of bed.
Hey, so... I have a bunch of mods. and everything's working - but I can't get my galaxy sword to spawn, and in theory, none of them are supposed to affect that piece. What's the best way to figure out which of the mods is causing this? Just... disable/ remove the big ones and try or... is there a better way?
if you really want to you could try with just the PPJA mods (+ their dependencies). if it crashes with just them then there's a good chance that there's some issue

Implemented in version 1.5.5, MonoGame is the latest framework that Stardew uses, and was implemented to solve problems such as Memory limits and audio issues. Unfortunately, MonoGame has a bug which affects random computers, not allowing them to launch Stardew. This bugs randomly targets computers, regardless of your operating system or hardware and is out of ConcernedApe's control. There is currently no known fix. See !legacy or !legacymodding for how to get your game to work.
If vanilla sdv can't run without using legacy mode, means no modding. Unless you wanna try something harder to play modded sdv

Nope, you need to manually go to each mod page (manual installation) or if you use nexus premium you can use bulk download/update (mod manager such as stardrop)

Block Change is probably what you want. Once set, the crystalarium will never change item by accident, you will need to remove it from the ground. And it work in combination with any of the other options. (Although it make the On Change option do nothing)
Hello, im hoping to find an answer, this is driving me crazy. I have a few mods installed and suddenly today everytime i press tab to change inventory rows all my items shift to the right. Anyone else has had this happen to them?

hi to anyone who could help, i am having this error message with smapi, that i am seeing happen only to a few people so i come here in desperation lol
i wanted to update smapi, so i went through and did so, and then deleted the smapi-internal file. then i went to install the updated smapi, and i got this error message. although here is the error for trying to uninstall smapi, which i tried also, after many failed attempts at fixing it. same error message. it wants that smapi-internal file but i already deleted it.... i am at a loss

You can delete Mods, smapi-internal, StardewModdingAPI.*, and steam_appid.txt in the game folder to fully uninstall SMAPI manually. If you changed your Steam launch options, you'll need to reset that to blank too.

This is because the portraits are 64x64 pixels
so they're much bigger than the sprites, which are 16x32 pixels
so you're seeing a small portion of the portrait

Sorry to bother, but I was hoping to get a second opinion on a multiplayer game I've been trying to get going with a pair of friends. The mods run and ran fine in single player (I've been slimming down the folder thinking it was just too many), but when we try to join whoever is hosting we freeze on creating the farmers. I've tried going over the SMAPI logs to check game breaking errors and found nothing relevant, so I was thinking maybe one of the mods is somehow preventing multiplayer? But I don't actually know what I'm doing enough to check for something like that
Did your friend installed the exact same mods as you? If yes, then probably one (or more) of the mods is causing the problem.
You might want to check the description of each mods to see if it's support multiplayer or not, because as far as i know most mods provide that
And another workaround is to try multiplayer with one mod installed. Then, increase the number of mods (reinstall the previously uninstalled mods). If it goes well, repeat the proccess until you find out what mod is causing the problem
I'll start with the descriptions, I think... I'm really hoping not to go through me entire hoarded list of mods...

All my cutscenes have the wrong camera focus. Like when Morris went into Pierre's, I couldn't even see Morris because the camera was at the bedrooms. And my title screen looks like yours (only half the sky is stars).
I run at 4K resolution. Bordlerless windowed. With 200% zoom and 150% UI. And SMAPI. And 216 DPI in Windows.
Edit: There's so many bug reports about cutscenee camera misalignment online. Even for Nintendo switch lol.
Edit: I tried changing to Windowed mode, to FUllscreen mode. Didn't help. I also tried changing to 96 DPI (windows default), didn't help either.
Edit: Ok so apparently nicole described it a while ago. It's an issue caused by SMAPI trying to adapt the game to your own screen's DPI or something like that and it causes the viewport of the cutscene to break if you use the game's own "zoom in" setting. I am not sure about a fix yet, apart from zooming out to 100%... #archived-modded-support message
SOLVED! Thanks to @severe steeple !
THANK YOU! IT WORKED! The cutscene zoom/pan/cropping issue was literally that the game isn't made for 4K (3840x2160 pixels) screens. So at 4K, everything looked zoomed out and I had to put myself at 200% ZOOM, which had the side-effect of also zooming in all cutscenes and cutting off the edges of the "world".
The fix was pretty easy:
- First, set Window Mode: Windowed.
- Then, set Window Mode: Fullscreen (this choice only appears after doing the previous step).
- Lastly, set Resolution: 1920x1080. Good old classic 1080p. Now the game renders properly and I could reset my in-game zoom to 100%. Cutscenes are perfect! 😄

Thanks. Yeah, apparently nicole described it a while ago. The cutscene panning is an issue caused by SMAPI trying to adapt the game to your own screen's DPI or something like that and it causes the viewport of the cutscene to break if you use the game's own "zoom in" setting. I am not sure about a fix yet, apart from zooming out to 100%... #archived-modded-support message
I will try to see if SMAPI has some setting. Worst case, I might be able to see everything at 150% zoom scale in the game.

In the final tab with the UI zooms, there should be a series of resolutions to choose from. I'm not at my laptop atm so I can't tell you what I chose, but there's a YouTube video that gave me the correct one

What should i do if the game is updated to 1.6? I mean, mods can't just updated automatically, i may have to wait for the author to update their mods

SMAPI 3.18.0 raised deprecation levels to the final stage, meaning SMAPI will now show yellow warning dialogues for mods with deprecated code. For the user, this just means that the mods have old code and will break in SMAPI 4.0 if they are not updated - it is not anything to worry about at this time. (For mod authors, it's a not-nice warning to update your code already!

THANK YOU! IT WORKED! The cutscene zoom/pan/cropping issue was literally that the game isn't made for 4K (3840x2160 pixels) screens. So at 4K, everything looked zoomed out and I had to put myself at 200% ZOOM, which had the side-effect of also zooming in all cutscenes and cutting off the edges of the "world".
The fix was pretty easy:
- First, set Window Mode: Windowed.
- Then, set Window Mode: Fullscreen (this choice only appears after doing the previous step).
- Lastly, set Resolution: 1920x1080. Good old classic 1080p. Now the game renders properly and I could reset my in-game zoom to 100%. Cutscenes are perfect! 😄

That might be a nightmare for your cutscene panning/viewport. 😄 Or maybe it sitll works as long as your viewport is 1080pixels tall 🙂

no i mean it’s not THAT bad haha i like being able to see more of the world but i do adjust the settings specifically for when i am dressing my farmer

Hmm, yeah, I also hear that zoom in-game works well until like 150% even in cutscenes. I haven't tried that though, but I read it somewhere here. 😄 I was at 200% and it made most cutscenes totally off-screen.

hellooo umm i think i got it right but i just wanted to confirm !! so the mods that run, they run from the bottom of the alphabetical folder up right? so like a mod beginning w Z will override a mod beginning w A if they overlap?

it depends, mod folder naming can affect the loading order but it's not necessarily reliable way to make one mod overwrite another. you can set a custom load order via smapi config now https://www.patreon.com/posts/74565278. i don't know how well it works for this purpose and if neither of those methods work you might need to set a manifest dependency which is a bit more involved
and yeah, the one beginning with Z should come after the one beginning with A, at least if the mod folders are in the same parent folder

Most mods for sdv is really small (mostly under 1MB) so unless you install expansions and A LOT of mods, you feel barely any impact on your storage

if you need a mod manager, i'd recommend Stardrop, but most of us just install mods manually, because it's as simple as extracting a ZIP into the Mods folder

hey guys im trying to use the cf to dga converter on the yellog cf conversion but seem to be running into this
i have all the dependencies installed
pip3 install json5
As a general rule of you see "no module named <foo>" try "pip3 install <foo>"
You might have it installed elsewhere but the script can't get to it for some reason
If that doesn't work, python -m pip3 install json5

Windows python is a right mess of different interpreter versions
seemed to have installed something i didnt have so that helped, but now it shows this 😭

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

well, if it has a separate file that only has the image of the bed, you could remove it. or if it has a content.json file, check if there's a separate section that targets the bed and remove/comment out that
or it could have a config too, config.json file in the mod folder after running the game at least once with the mod installed
(and Generic Mod Config Menu should work too if it has a config)

Im trying to fix a corrupt(? I think its corrupt) save file, by rolling it back a day. To roll it back I just delete Farm_#### and the SaveGameInfo files, then remove the _old from the other two files right?
Also could someone smarter than me look at my smapi log, I want to make sure rolling back is the best way to fix this

I think I found the issue, it can't properly apply the variations of the shops for some reason. When they are closed (there's only one sprite available) it looks normal

can someone help me with a recolor mod? it worked before, then i removed it and tried a different recolor, didnt like the recolor, removed it from the mods file, put the old one back in but it doesnt work. i have the basic look of stardew even though i have a recolor mod installed
