first figure out if either of you have any outdated mods that are mismatched and try to fix that
it should say what version it is in the SMAPI console

if that doesnt fix it then its most likely a mod compatibility issue
(also maybe try downloading stardrop if you play multiplayer often) I don't know how it works but I've heard it can separate multiplayer and solo mods or something

All I can think of that's causing this issue is compatibility or outdated mods
from looking at your logs I didn't see any major errors that could cause crashing like that, at least not on their own
is your smapi outdated moon?

I understood it the way you loaded a save from a year ago. If that's not the case: Redo your modlist, make sure they match and start over. You'll just loose a few hours.

You can create a desktop short cut for Stardew Valley.exe in your game folder. That starts without SMAPI.

@tawny spire If you want to start over: You and your sister get yourself some coffee (or tea or whatever) and stroll through Nexus. Make a list (preferably with both of you having the same mods and if differences put those on a second list). Come back and ask if the list works or if there are known issues if in doubt (check mod descriptions in that regards if a mod is for multiplayer or not).

It's not the size of the mod. Imagine one of you just adds a tiny cat. Doesn't look huge right? Can work or can break your game. That's the problem with different mod setups.

That's where Stardrop can help because you can add profiles (i.e. one for your multiplayer and one for your singleplayer).

That's also why you should do a bit of a testrun when you've all of your mods. Play like 2-3 days to see if anything unusual happens.

I'm glad we can help, but keep in mind multiplayer mods are different because youre both sharing the same map and same features, that's why it's so complicated.
Think of it like existing in our world, we all experience the same things but have different reactions to it
but we cant change the sky from blue to red just because one of us prefers it
(Also because irl its not possible 😅)

I believe it depends on the mod, but usually it just doesn't have compatibility with multiplayer. Either because the way its coded doesn't function with multiple people or because the author just decided not to include compatibility.
I heard coding multiplayer mods is super complicated and difficult
So imagine trying to make one rather than just use it.

"Just don't work" = good case, "Lots of red in SMAPI" = bad case, i.e. one of 2 crashing when leaving their house I consider "messing up"

if it crashes then its a big issue, if it just doesnt work then its not a huge issue
you gotta look out for mods that crash in multiplayer because those are the "not compatible" ones i was talking about
That's what you can use Stardrop for: 2 profiles - 1 single, 1 multiplayer and Stardrop will sort it out depending on which you want to play / which profile is active.

If it's the inside of the house: I assume all need the same mod (cabins have the interior of the farmhouse). For outside: Not entirely sure if it's considered "just visual". Might depend on the mod itself.

After you disabled the mods that are conflicting: Start the game and visit the areas to check on them if they look fine.

i uninstalled and reinstall the Ridgeside mod and it didn't fix the problem, also the peoples heads only get cut in half when they're in Pelican town but are fine otherwise (in Ridgeside)
im a little bit more concerned with fixing this though
the map icons issue isn't nearly as immersion breaking as a house with no room and glitchy textures
but some mod i have is adding that fenced in area above the house and idk which one it is....

Ok so i was having issues with a portrait mod, but it's likely due to my previous use of vortex. Im installing the mod manually rn. Going to see if it runs without issues. If it does, im going to follow the instructions of the portrait mod to install manually. And if it still isnt working i need help to figure out why. Its always the same error, this mod has files but none are manifest json

ok so I completely replaced the folders of the mod im trying to add the new pics to. And it gave me the same error log. But im going to put the original folders back in and take these ones out. And then try adding in the pics again over top. so that theres data from both folders? Im just trying things out by this point

If you have the HD template mod with the 'names' of the RSV characters, but you dont put any image to their folder, automatically it'll use the vanilla portraits provided by the mod
I also have to uninstal and reinstall again because the port is still messed up even after i took out the other mod
But use the increased portrait size for HD portraits
Im not sure how to do that, im frankly a bit burnt out from trying to get this to work. Im just going to go without it. But thank you for the pointer. If i ever feel like putting myself through this again ill try that in the future

With the DC portraits it said that there was no manifest file inside, you have to replace the existing files within the RSV mod folder INSIDE of the mods folder
Meaning you go inside your Stardew Valley folder > Mods > Ridgeside village
when you go inside the RSV folder in your mods folder it should look like this
Yea i did, I completely replaced the files it wanted me to, it said to let them overwrite, so i made a copy of the og files just in case. that didn't work, so i tried combining the og files with the port files still putting it where the mod maker told me to put them, and it still didn't work, just warped the ports

Did you choose the 'override' option when adding the files? Could you possibly go inside of the [CP] Ridgeside village folder >Assets > Portraits to check if you have double ups of both the pixel portraits and HD portraits?
the portrait mod only replaces ports not sprites, and there was no override opttion when i added the port mods folder into the og folder where it said to drop it

I would first re-download the mod and unzip it in your downloads page so you have it ready
Then I would go inside the >Ridgeside Village > [CP] Ridgeside village folder >Assets > Portraits folder
Ok i have the zip file still so i will extract it in my downloads now

Ohhhh I figured out why it didn't work properly !
I downloaded the mod you're using, the images were only put in the 'Assets' folder and they forgot to include the extra sub folder specifically for portraits

Instead of deleting all the portraits, go specifically into the "[CP] OrangePie's DCBurger style RidgesideVillage 16 NPC Portraits" file then the "Assets" page within it, and DRAG the everything into the RSV portraits file

No, just drag the HD portrait images and text files over to the RSV portraits folder, then it will only overwrite the characters that have DC style portraits

I would revalidate your stardew valley steam files
That is caused by get glam, dont delete either of them if you do both files get deleted

Hey im having an issue with the PPJA series of mods Basically whenever i harvest a modded plant the item it drops seems to be totally random sometime spinach with drop spinach sometimes spinach dip and sometimes barley products
additionally when my friend connects to my game they also get different seemingly random items

Anytime you change your JA mods you can risk a shuffle. In multiplayer, you need to have exactly the same mods in exactly the same order as your friends.
Anytime you have a shuffle and then solve it, old objects may remain affected but new ones should be fine. You can sell or trash the old items, and spawn in new ones if needed with CJB item spawner.
Except in this case, it's because you have mismatched mods

Hey folks! It sucks that this is my first post but I'm very lost and my partner found me this discord. I've been trying to open up Stardew, but it doesn’t finish loading. SMAPI gets to the line about new items, etc (a few lines after the help command) but that’s it. The secondary pop up screen stay a white box and shows Not Responding on the window bar. Not a computer person so the wiki help page didn’t make any sense to me 😦

I see that you try to use SDV. Go to your Mods folder and change the following:
StardewValleyExpanded > .StardewValleyExpanded
[CP] Stardew Valley Expanded -> .[CP] Stardew Valley Expanded
Add the . in front of the foldernames. That will disabled SVE.
You'll probably get some red in your SMAPI window: Ignore it for now and see if the game starts that way. Do not load a save or anything like that.
step 1: remember where that folder is....

Rightclick on Stardew Valley in the library -> Properties -> Local Files -> Browse... <<-- That sends you right to your game folder.
