hi there, I have a question. Is it possible for anything to tell me why a particular mod isn't showing up? (like the smapi log, or anything really) Nothing is broken per say, it's simply... not there. And I don't know if it needs to be moved in the load order? Or if I'm just stupid?? I was struggling with it yesterday, and I'd love not having to 50/50 it 😅

The SMAPI log usually can tell you why a mod wasn't loaded.
i got a question, im trying to use stardew vallley expanded, and i need space core, when i launch the game on smapi it tells me that the saves wont work anymore or smth, so, is space core safe? sorry for bothering tho 😅

I'm using a custom forest farm map (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/2629) and some of the decorative bushes near the house can be chopped down but others near the pond can't/nothing happens when I use the axe on them, is there any way to remove those bushes short of unpacking the map files and editing it?

CF is real broken now though, I don't think you should really use it.

I'm just trying to install furniture mods to make decorating my farm easier and frankly much prettier, but It always seems to not work as intended. I'm not sure what to do past installing the CF mods and putting them into the custom furniture folder.
I was under the impression that it should just add the furniture as a new item into the game.
however, it only retextures base game items.

The only place you should be putting those is directly into the Mods folder, not inside another lest it's a subfolder you made yourself.
Right, so there's a mod called custom furniture.
and it has a folder called furniture that says "non cp packs go here"

For CF content packs you just install them as a normal mod
However, CF in multiplayer seems to cause a lot of crashes
Some of these are not CF mods

I think there should be a DGA conversion for a few of these?
But for the first one: read the mod description, there's no CF version, it replaces the furnitures visually with with an xnb (bad bad bad) or CP (alright)

Dynamic Game Assets (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/9365) is a mod which lets content packs and other mods add custom content like crops, trees, weapons, etc. See the mod description for details.
If you're making custom content, ask mod authors in #making-mods-general about whether using Json Assets (!ja) would be more suitable instead.
The second one is a CP mod that replaces the walls and floors
The third one has two options, one that is CP and replaces the furntiure (so, incompatible with the first) and one that is CF and adds new furniture
You're going to have to go through the mod descriptions and read them
Not all furniture mods use CF
Oh yes thank you I'll add them as cp's i know those ones aren't much of an issue at least. But trying to run these on single player i've noticed some of them just retexture.

Because they are retextures like Myc's Seasonal Fireplace.
Yes, if you add them as CP they will just retexture
CP = retexture the existing stuff (mostly, certain newer walls and floors add new walls and floors)
CF = add new furniture but buggy
DGA = add new furniture
Custom Walls and Floors = broken framework
AT = retexture existing stuff but you can pick in-game which retexture to use for each specific furniture item
You want to switch to AT and DGA I think if you want to go for a decoration spree.

Yes, however, DGA is newer so a lot of things aren't converted for it
Keep in mind DGA does some other things besides furniture
So it's not quite "this mod uses DGA = this is a furniture mod i should use"
Here's a few DGA furnitures mods
You can go to Nexus, under the DGA mod page, and click the "Requirements" drop down, and go to "Mods Requiring this file"
And then click through to see if they are furniture mods
(Or guess from the name)
If there's a CF mod you love and can't live without, there is a script to convert CF to DGA mods https://github.com/elizabethcd/FurnitureConverter
However, you do need to install python and learn some computer basics to use the script

Hiya, farmers! I have several mods, and it seems that I'm no longer seeing fade in transitions when entering / exiting buildings the same way that I do when I move between map zones. Whenever I enter or exit a building, the transition fades out correctly, then hard-cuts into the next scene instead of fading in. I cannot seem to figure out what's causing this to happen. Any ideas on what it might be? I already tried removing and testing without mods that I installed recently, and none of them seem to be the cause.

NEVERMIND! I fixed it...
I didn't even know MO2 has an option for SDV. But I only ever used it for Skyrim.
SDV is one of the few games I don't use a mod manager at all because it isn't needed 99% of the time.
That aside Lani mentioned PlatoTK doesn't work for now
@dusty spruce: look at this save file for a reason why the island obelisk does not appear in the list of buildables, if no one else does until then (34h ago)
Just giving an update that I did a pretty thorough review of my mods (taking them out and putting them back in one by one) and it turns out that this is being caused by something with Gwen's Medieval Craftables. I'll be going to their page on Nexus for help!
That shouldn't be caused by a CP mod 
In particular, Gwen most likely won't be able to provide a lot of help given that I don't think the craftables includes any patching to that
lag spike maybe?
It only seems to be caused when I put the Craftables mod back into my mods folder - even though it is a CP mod. I did find a comment on their Craftables mod page with the following:

Yup, SVE seasonal edits also use the location tokens so good job figuring it out.
I've checked to make sure that both OutdoorsSnowEnabled is false on Craftables, and that AlternativeCraftables, SeasonalEdits, BalancedCrafting, and ReplaceDefaultFences are all false on Stardew Expanded. The issue still seems to occur. 
Hmm, if it is a lag issue then it could affect transitions
!profiler have you tried this?
Profiler https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/12135 is a mod that can help you narrow down what's causing lag
I’m not sure it can pinpoint content packs though

It doesn't necessarily seem to be a lag issue - I don't have any issues with lag while playing, and this issue only seems to occur when I add in that one content pack mod. But I'll try the profiler to see if I can pinpoint it.

I think I've don't this a few times where I think "error handler" is a broken file so I remove it then I can't play and have to re-download smapi. Ugh

oh btw, has anyone else been getting this weird bug with SMAPI where whenever you open the esc menu and the game is maximized, it just sort of bumps the game window right and down a bit?

there's some reports of odd af window issues with monogame on their forums/github (like, for some reason, missing one pixel while filling the whole screen)

@thorny niche tl;dr is: you NEVER took a boat to Ginger Island. the buildings menu won't show the Island Obelisk until you take it at least once. i assume you just cheated and warped via CJB to get there up until now
Hi- can i have a little help ❤️ I added the shipping bin bear mod- i can see it on the Generic Mod (the one where you can customise etc forgotten the name-sorry) But it doesnt change anything- earlier my smapi was full of red alerts on it but now that i've gone to take a ss to post here, it's not showing anything for the bear mod except that the owner of it hasnt set updates for it.
If no one is to busy I could need some help also ówò if not right now I can wait ^^!!

I was told it's because i already have a shipment recolour- i disabled the Elle's one and it still wont let me use the bear shipping (sorry to be a pain!)
hmm does earthy recolor have a config for shipping bin?
i've only found this- that i have disabled- but when i load into the game, the bear bin won't come through so not sure what else i have (nothing is in the earthy recolour apart from the dirt/grass etc.)
have you tried just putting a z in front of bear shipping bin and having it load last lol

However, there's also cursors

When two mods both edit dialogue or images, whichever mod loads last "wins" and is the one you see in the game. I'm back with an actual problem! y a y .
I tried to update SMAPI last night, and tried again today, but it still booted up version 3.15. So I re-entered the SMAPI steam key thingie, and now SMAPI won't boot up at all.
I have Windows 11, and the game is up to date. I checked the wiki and all it said to do was install SMAPI and it'll update.

It didn't work, and I've directly copy and pasted the file path into the launch options of SDV. To clarify, SMAPI still isn't booting up at all :,>

Wanna make sure smapi can run firat then next step is launch option step on steam

Smapi will overwrite older version tho so it's weird that when you run smapi, it is still on older version unless you put incorrect path or use older installer
Does anyone know of a mod that would illuminate the entire screen during the night, or underground? Turning up screen Brightness isn't feasible as it's at max.

Also, for whatever reason, the installer itself won't delete the old files, would deleting it all manually be ok?
I forgot uninstall smapi will delete Mods folder as well, not altering your saves
@long brook I think I did download that, but it seems not to be working with the current version of Content Patcher. Do you think if I went back to version .17 (or whatever the post there is suggesting) that it would work / that would work with more recent mods?

hi! i installed smapi and some mods today but i've discovered that now my journal entries disappear when i complete part of them like when i got the dark talisman quest and got the dark talisman from the sewers, it didn't tell me to bring it back to the railroad. is my game glitching or is that just how that quest works?

Hello! I'm trying to fix a sequence break. I used CJB to jump me to fall on day one. As a result I didn't trigger the "To the Beach" quest letter and willy is forever "gone fishing". I've played through a year hoping to trigger it in spring to no avail. I'm trying to save edit to start the quest.
I've made test saves with the quest in my mailbox and tried to insert the <mailForTomorrow /><mailbox><string>spring_2_1</string> into the game info, but the save wont load when I've inserted that info

Basically: You need to tell Steam to start the game with SMAPI or it will start the game without SMAPI. Depending on that you start with or without mods.

You see any red in the SMAPI window? If not: Just wait. Depending on the amount / type of mods it can take minutes for the game to start / load.
If I remember correctly from vanilla it doesn't tell you. Just go back to the railroad where the wizard was. I guess it's not a typical quest as the wizard told you what to do. 🤷♀️

I just reloaded the game and it seems that all the ECU errors are gone. Maybe that one is too?
I was tryna cheat the shortcuts in and they weren't working w SVR3 so I tried the "instant unlock" for them and it worked fine, mostly. One was broken. But then I changed settings in SVR3 and turned off some relevant maps and it made ECU very upset.
Guess I'll have to do it the old-fashioned way

You're using tab saving in chrome? If so: close chrome (and what belongs to it). Wait a few seconds. Open Firefox and try only to access the smapi page (no other pages).

Great! Let me introduce my issue while SMAPI loads up my latest version.
I have a very heavily modded game and so far no bugs or glitches until last night. I got back to back cutscenes outside of my farmhouse:
- Morris thanks me for assisting with his townhouse, and asks me to visit sometime.
- Pierre then tells me about Lewis vs. Morris running as mayor
The problem occurs after whenever I attempt to either leave the farm or enter a building on my farm. The screen fades to black as it does during the transition to locations, but then freezes. I've tested this on my "test farm" and I could run everywhere I wanted with no problem so it seems to be directly related to those cutscenes.
Is anyone here familiar with trying to install SMAPI on the steam deck? We've read every guide Google can find and it will not work for us? I really want to play modded but if we can't figure this out it won't be happening anytime soon

Neither of us can understand what the README.txt file is telling us to do. I feel dumb admitting it but it's like trying to read another language

Oh I'm not sure what you mean. I've tried playing quite a few times. This is the most recent log. Once it freezes I'm forced to shut it down.
That log you send only shows that you load the game. So play the game until you get the game freeze/crash then send the log again. There might be an error

the game doesn't store it's info in .png, it stores it in .xnb

I had Farmers to Florist installed for a while but never realized I didn't have Dynamic Game Assets installed to make it work.
So I did that.
But most, if not all, of the recipes from Farmer to Florist come through the mail (I looked it up)

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).
Under files, there's ja version. Delete the dga version and install ja one

I am trying to download the mod that replaces the skeleton mask with a kitsune mask. It makes all the hats added in/after 1.5 invisible though. I found this thing explaining how to make the kitsune mask mod not make all the hats invisible, but I don't understand the instructions.
I downloaded the attachment and opened up the content.json file
It's an old mod that made for 1.4 sdv so it might be broken for this sdv version

I copy-pasted this part from another CP mod that changes hats and changed the numbers to match the coordinates of the kitsune mask/skeleton mask in the 2 image files
When I try to boot up the game, I get this error
