I tried the Linux one and running the .sh file they ask you to make won't run for me. Maybe I'll try the Window (Steam) version.

If your log doesn't have anything to say about it you would have to narrow it down by disabling mods till you find the one causing it (disable half first, make sure dependencies are still correct, narrow this half further down if you found it, otherwise it's the other half and so on). 
What do you mean? Does it have zips inside the zip? 
I just rename my folders
It pulls from the one named Mods
so just rename the ones that aren't in use
and name the one you want Mods

SVE also edits the craftables tilesheet. I think this is configurable, so turn it off in the config and see if that works.
do you guys know if this is part of the CJB cheats menu mod, id like to uninstall the CBJ mod but i dont wanna lose this cuz its useful, idk if its vanilla LOL

i've updated SMAPI , Content Patcher, Space Core, Expanded Preconditions Utility, stardew valley expanded, etc., to the most recent version but now, all of those things will not work when i load the game. I've tried to go back and re-download and watch videos to see if i did it wrong but still no luck. I don't want to delete all the mods because I really want to keep my save file just how it is. Please help ya'll 😢

what seems to be the problem
I'm currently having trouble loading Stardew with SMAPI. I just updated everything and have the current version of SMAPI installed. However it is still saying there is an "unhandled exception". I'm not sure what is going on. And to make matters worse, the smapi log cant even find the error log. A message just shows up saying it cant be located. Any help is appreciated!

mine freaked out on me earlier when i was messing with stardrop and the folder had deleted itself somehow
i just relaunched smapi
once i found the error log. i pinned it to to my quick access
I typed in "%appdata%" and looked under stardew. There isn't even an error logs folder showing up

Okay, something was up with the Windows antivirus, so I changed it to run the smapi installer. Now it is saying that I need to reboot my computer and try again. So i'm gonna do that and then let yall know
I tried doing that but I'd have to go to desktop mode and change everything around every time my wife or I want to play Stardew so it's a bit inconvenient.
I downloaded Stardrop instead. Though I am having trouble launching that through Steam itself

Hey @river rapids, I'm sorry for the ping, but I was just wondering if you could help me with figuring something out on adding horse skins ^^' I think I followed everything I was supposed to, but I'm not sure. Sorry if I explain poorly as well, lmk if you need clarification.
Anyways, I downloaded your A&S mod, and then I also downloaded the Elle's New Horses mod. I made a folder named Horse and moved each individual horse skin into that folder, and then I put the folder into AdoptSkin/assets/skins (first pic). Then I made sure that all of the skins are named Horse_1 through Horse_31. I also deleted the original Elle's New Horses mod, so now all I have left is the skins themselves. Then, to test, I went into Stardew on a world that I had already started. I already had a horse on it, so I checked her ID and then tried to change her skin to Horse_7, but it keeps giving me an error about it. Did I miss something along the way? I tried changing one of my chickens just to make sure the mod worked, and my chicken changed just fine, but I'm having struggles with the horse skins.
I tried installing the expanded mod and I didnt work I followed a video. I've read the error codes but I have all the files in the mod folder? Are they supposed to all be in the Stardew valley expanded folder?

I think the animal's ID comes first , and then the skin ID.

The mod was not deployed correctly so obviously I could not find the seeds if its not installed correctly 
I looked for the seeds in the cjb cheat menu and couldnt find them there

Reset Terrain Features (https://smapi.io/mods/#Reset_Terrain_Features) is a mod that lets you reset, clear, or generate everything that spawns on a map using an in-game menu. That's especially useful when changing maps mid-save, as the debris will otherwise use the old layout (causing things like trees in the water or bushes blocking exits).
As for mod managers: Did you unmanage the game in Vortex first before switching to Stardrop? And are you or are you not using Stardrop?
also you're using both the cp and portraiture ver of the lunakatt portraits
you only need the cp version
Removing the non-cp-version should get rid of the Vortex mention too.

And then you write down a note reading "Do never just uninstall mod managers and do the proper procedures instead." As it has been Vortex it shouldn't cause any additional problems.

Stardrop Installed Mods because it's an empty folder. <<-- You've also this one (that's where the question regarding mod manager came from). You're using another folder for Stardrop?

You installed the mods through Stardrop?
The mods were initially installed through vortex and appeared to port over to stardrop but now that vortex is no longer managing stardew mods, majority of them went away in stardrop when i refreshed.
Yeah... How to put it... That's why you don't do the "just uninstall" when switching mod managers.
Still good news: It was Vortex which puts the files where you would put them if doing manual installation.
Let me check Stardrop. Maybe we can fix that in 5 seconds.
so now I can just reinstall through stardrop without issues from vortex. I think there was a comment before that said SVE is bugged and wont work with multiplayer also?

All mods that are in Stardew Valley / Mods should be present in your Stardrop. Are they?
yes. they look to be present. but removing vortex deleted a lot of them.
Oh. My fault. Of course Stardrop Installed Mods is empty because you haven't installed mods with Stardrop. My fault. 🤦♀️
okay. so i think the ones that are showing are the ones i "updated" through stardrop directly. so the rest I think should be okay as far as location if i follow stardrop.
Scroll up and get your log before you removed Vortex. That log has your old mod list in case you don't remember all the mods you had before.

Any mods that were deleted and you want to add them: Install them through Stardrop (check before if they really aren't in Stardew Valley / Mods with windows explorer.

Leave out your sisters pc for now. It makes no sense to try fixing both at the same time.
When you're done with restoring the mod list and doing what nonu said about the portrait mod: Start the game and check what SMAPI has to say.

As for SVE: Did you use it before the trouble started? I don't remember reading that SVE isn't multiplayer compatible and the mod page says it works on multiplayer too. 🤷♀️
Hello- anyone have an issue with the adopt & skin mod not letting you adopt from marnie? The text and everything comes up but when I hit okay to name it just keeps popping up with asking me if I want to adopt. Only error I have in smapi is for the happy birthday mod.
Hey, so I'm trying to open Stardew on a different PC, but I can't upload my mods in a pack to vortex as some aren't available anymore. How would I get those mods onto a different PC? (Doing this so I can run two clients at once in order to decorate a second house)

Does anyone know if there is a way to stop Adopt n Skin from randomizing skins every time you load the world?

maybe post a log so we can see if there are any mods issues or SMAPI errors
how many skins/animals do you have? have you use the AnS commands to fix or remap skin IDs? (can't remember the commands offhand)

Check on AnS config (either through GMCM or config file) if there is randomize skin feature turned on (or said true in config file)

I assume they're all either .png or .xnb file types? Either works, though make sure that when you renamed the files you didn't accidentally delete the file ending after the name part! That'll definitely break it.

ah it's not in the config.. it's in the SMAPI console in the game.. trype help and a list of commands will show up for all the mods that have them.

All those skins are for cows didn't realise they had to be specified brown or white, but something for me to fix for sure.

I just downloaded Smapi after having it years ago. But this time around when I try to start the game the Smapi prompt pops up and loads but when it has the comment loading game it just closes and I cant get Smapi to open Stardew anymore. Does anyone know a fix for this?

These skins aren't named properly! Please see the guide here for naming them properly. Adults for most animals will need both a baby and adult version as well (pets and horses will only need the one file)

I wanted to make a little change in Sebastian's room. I fixed the first error I got about climbing directories.. but now I'm faced with this one.
Not sure how to achieve what I wanted..
I just addded an accessory from Sebastian's Bong mod. Opened the LUTI map in Tiled and pasted the beakerbong in his room. I tried to make sure the tilesheet (with one item) was saved properly in the map. and left it in the maps folder of LUTI. not sure what I did wrong exactly...

I did it this way bc I assumed the CP mod wouldnt work if the layouts were different. Maybe that would've been OK after all. hmmm

Maybe it's the period at the name, yeah. Smapi doesn't load mod folders with a period at the start so it's not a bad guess.

so the thing is, on Windows, any file can be marked as hidden. on Linux, those are usually files prefixed with a .

i have the "the only one for me" mod for sebastian but im experiencing some trouble with day specific dialog?
when it rains the dont do the special day dialog they end up doing rain day dialog and idk if theres some way to make the rain go away on the specific day.
i do see that cjb allows you to change the following days weather but is there anything for in the moment?

Does anyone know why when I install the immersive farm mod, it's not the full farm map? Like I am missing the stairs below the greenhouse, or down to the hot springs, the stairs that go to the boat dock, can't get to the quarry... basically all the bottom half of the map.... What am I missing? anyone know?

Hello everybody, I have several Problems and I don't know how to solve them as I don't know anything about coding. I have about 300+ Mods installed, big ones like SVE and RSV too, many cosmetic changes etc. The latest Mod I installed is Modular Gaming Overhaul and so far it's working, except when I get to choose a Profession the loading Time is about 2-3 Minutes and I get a ton of Content Patcher Errors, which says I'm out of memory. Smapi then closes the game or shut down some mods like Vintage Interface and I have too restart. But even before I installed Margo, I had problems with high loading Times when entering/exiting a building or lag in some places but only in Winter. Would somebody take a look into my log? You can add it (The new mailbox) as a dependency like shockah said which would allow you to keep all the times^^ But in project yellog config file you can turn off "Town Misc" Items which will disable the mailbox and some other items like flowerpots xD

hi! I am very new to stardew, I just started a co-op on Saturday with a friend and wanted to start my own farm. I'm using a mac and I downloaded SMAPI and the CJB item spawner and CJB cheat mod and Ican't get them to open when I'm in game. It says at the top that it's running with SMAPI and three mods, but nothing is happening when I hit P or I which are listed on nexus as the commands for these. any ideas?

I know but I barely use half of my RAM
and I don't see anything using tmxl in your mods, so after you convert it, you could get rid of pytk, cf and tmxl
I don't really know much about the game, but from what I've seen around here, this is an issue with the game itself not being properly optimized rather than your computer

I tried SpriteMaster and it made things worse unfortunately. I got rid of PYTK, CF and TmXl now. Portraiture is gone now too which is sad, I liked the Krobus Portrait and I can't find a CP Version

Forest is the one without the combat? Should be Farm_Foraging then.

To make your Krobus portrait into a CP mod you'll need a manifest and a content.json. it's all in the guide ✨️
It's the same for HD Portraits except you're making the CP pack for HDP
In the content.json you will find something like this:

I lend this from a different farm mod so it doesn't equal your's 100%.
Change the part behind Target to "Maps/Farm_Foraging"
And "FarmToReplace":"Forest"
FromFile etc just stay as they are.
However: Some maps have specials which might or might not work if you change this way. For example: I wouldn't expect respawning treestumps after switching to forest farm.
Hello! I desperately need help. I play on a smapi modded version of stardew valley multiplayer. I am the owner of the file and when i joined today my world had reset, apart from my money and tools. I am back to day 1 of spring year 1 when i was well into fall. My house has glitched and everything is reset! Please help me!

@river rapids I think I've figured it out! Or, not exactly figured out what was wrong, but I got it to work now! :D I simply uninstalled all of the skin and A&S mods and then reinstalled them and now it's working. I've tested changing each of my animals' skins and they're all working perfectly well. Also would just like to say that I love your mods, they're adorable <3

Sometimes SVE can have hiccups when doing a first install but I can confirm it works, I played just a few days ago with SVE.

My guess is the new version did some under the hood changes that didn't patch the correct stuff

Ok. You don't open the .dll for that to begin with.
Easiest way on steam on Mac to find mods folder is to right click the game > properties > view local files (names approximate here)
( It looks like it's highlighting the path I guess )
And then save an alias to desktop or something
And for installing the actual mods: You unzip the 7z / zip / rar and put the contents into the Mods folder.

When two mods both edit dialogue or images, whichever mod loads last "wins" and is the one you see in the game. Hey, can anyone tell me if this is a widespread issue for others/ if there's something I need to do here to make sure my game keeps working? Can provide extra info about mods I have etc. if needed

SMAPI 3.18.0 raised deprecation levels to the final stage, meaning SMAPI will now show yellow warning dialogues for mods with deprecated code. For the user, this just means that the mods have old code and will break in SMAPI 4.0 if they are not updated - it is not anything to worry about at this time. (For mod authors, it's a not-nice warning to update your code already!

How do I find if there are nod conflict and which one is installed last? For example 2 dialogue mods
there is a very large chance that two dialogue mods for the same character conflict lol. your mods are loaded alphabetically so whatever appears last in your folder is loaded last
If you notice some dialogues get abruptly cut off or it doesn't make sense. 
Dialogue mods doesn't really have bad conflicts with each other (from my experience) aside from that. Maybe the occasional lore implication that sometimes clashes each other.

how can I tell if the mods are active?
SMAPI will tell you if mods are loaded. If they aren't loaded you get red messages with why they were skipped. Some mods also come with settings to enable / disable them through GMCM (Generic Mod Configuration Menu).

Which mod specifically? 
Depending on the mod they are "just there" or might require additional steps.
