Yea, the mods that I want all do not have a content patcher version, I just need to know how to manually convert them. Though I just don’t know where to put stuff where it runs correctly

So how could I fix the game to register?
Okay, what I would do to unpack mod XNBs would be to make a new folder inside Content and call it idk, "Mods" or something, then run StardewXNBHack
Do you know where your Content folder is?
The key is, don't overwrite anything, just add a new pile of stuff to it
You can remove it after you're done unpacking
So use StardewXNBHack instead of xnbxli?

I've never used xnbcli
I believe that it does work but is older, and I have no experience with it
xnbcli is just for unpacking individual files rather than the whole folder

i use xnbcli and it's fairly easy (to me, at least), ive never used stardewxnbhack so i cant help you there

but i think those hairs will probably conflict with each other since they'll all replace the same thing, and making them work as non replacing would probably be really difficult for you if you can't understand how to unpack files
i convert all my hairstyles to fashion sense so I don't have to worry about that
Well with the pack I have, it just included the clothes, and in the description I just clicked the link to the hairstyles in the photos, but they were xnb files
it's because naver is a bit behind on how to do things, since the necessary tutorials haven't been translated or widespread enough. so they just do things the way that's easiest to them and that's to make them xnbs

Could someone please help me get my mods to work? It crashes when I try to load my save.
Said save is transferred from another computer to this one. I also transferred all the contents of the mods folder, but Vortex didn't seem to like that, so I overwrote them with fresh installs of all my mods. I also tried verifying integrity on steam and launching it on steam and then through vortex afterwards, and I tried reinstalling SMAPI.

for the animated gemstones mod and an anime portrait replacer mod, instead of being able to be unzipped like the other mods, it just downloads as a RAR file? how do I properly put it into the mod folder

RAR are super similar to ZIP files, it’s just that Windows/macOS can’t extract them automatically without an app

we don't really recommend vortex, it has A Lot of issues with stardew

there's a template mod in the downloads that could be a simple guide. i think you have to make a content pack for CP to use custom portraits @white harbor
so the trouble is when you're new to CP. but the guide is great and well-documented

I'm trying out animation cancelling out of curiosity on my Steam Deck and I keep dropping my pickaxe on the floor as a solid object for some reason. Does anyone know why that is?

I’m trying not to ask this but trying to search up anything switch related isn’t pulling any results. I’m trying to mod the xnb files for textures but nothing I’m doing is working. My sd card trees in atmosphere content folder was set up correctly but nothing was implemented when I loaded the game. Don’t want to interrupt anyones current support so just help me when someone can ❤️

I've also played on Switch for a while, but then the Steam Deck came out...
(Switch doesn't allow for mods, at least not without hacking the Switch itself, as far as I know.)

I'm on Steam Deck, but haven't installed SVE myself. Have you managed to make other mods work on it at all so far?

you need all of the subfolders, you only have one
First of all, install farm type manager mod and json asset mod. Second, reinstall sve
First remove SVE for now, then follow this guide closely from step 1:

If that's not working out, tell us which step you're stuck at and show the log again.
Make extra sure you install all the required mods.
It's possible that some of the required mods also require special steps, so make sure you check them for special installation instructions too.

@wide salmon Also, personally I like installing mods on my PC first (provided you have Stardew and SMAPI installed on a PC) and then copy over the mods folder from my PC to my Switch. That's mostly because it's less cumbersome to install mods on PC, though. (Use Warpinator on your Steam Deck and Winpinator on Windows to send files over.)
It's also quicker to test that you have everything installed right.
Some mods like SMAPI can't just be installed by copying over the Mods folder from your Stardew Valley installation folder on PC, though, so fair warning there.
(Though you seem to have gotten SMAPI in particular running already, which saves you a lot of effort.)
Smapi isn't a mod, it's api to load mod into sdv
that part took me the past couple hours which is why im now tired and asking for help and finding stupid mistakes lol
Anybody familiar with the diatonic scale system in modular gameplay overhaul? I know it's pretty new
I thought only xnb mods work on switch since you can't sideload SMAPI
unless you were to somehow compile a custom version of the game
Maybe try taking a break for a bit? It can be tempting to try and problem solve everything in one go, but sometimes a break can help freshen up your mind so you don't get stuck or make mistakes due to being too tired.

have you tried setting up ftp on deck? filezilla is so much easier than warpinator, though now i have a keyboard and mouse and just do it directly on deck
I haven't. Warpinator has worked fine for my purposes so far.
Also, I sometimes make my own private content patcher mods, meaning I'd have to get them from my PC anyway... and sending just my mods folder is easier than sending lots of individual folders, because it doesn't make much of a difference in transfer time.
hello! i have like 35 mods downloaded but stardew's not loadin. the modding API is, but its been loading for like a half an hour. does anyone know why, or a way to troubleshoot?

transfer speed is fine either way, main thing is that filzilla you have full folder structure to play with instead of sending to one spot with warpinator.

@azure sky sorry to ping, if I'm allowed -- it seems in the starblue valley folder (not sure about the other recolors), summer_outdoorsTileSheet, the last tree on the right, you accidentally put in the ginger island tree (summer_island_tilesheet_1) instead of summer_town!
or at the least, it didnt get recolored to summer colors since I see summer_town is slightly different
its very vibrant compared to the rest of the summer colors!

You know when you wanna delete a mod that adds items (JA, CF, etc) and you have to Delete all of that mod's items from your inventory/farm.. does that include items placed outside/off the farm?
I'm talking about furni/decoration items placed around the world

so i did what this told me to and my game still isnt loading. in fact- some of my mods wont work without the thing it told me to remove.
You can chance it and hope the mods clean up correctly, some of them have code to help clean up but it isn’t perfect
If you really wanna use mods that relies on pytk, try install SpriteMaster. Pytk mods tend to make loading game long
you have to choose between pytk mods or performance

Uh, not sure if anyone else encountered that issue but either Better Junimos or Better Junimos Forestry, my little guys are planting the seeds I hand them but...are not actually using the seed. like I can put one bag of seeds in there and they will fill up the entire field with it. not sure what is causing it ; ;
That's a setting in better junimoa

Without PyTK and TMXL Map Toolkit, is it safe to use Shiko custom NPC mod? It skipped Shiko Festival Locations 1.2.0 and Spouse Room Shiko 1.2.0
Just don't marry Shiko, and she won't be at festivals, but you should be fine

There were no errors while loading so I missed them whenever they did show. I don't know if this crashed my game.. or if it was the Warp Totem to Tome mod. The game did crash at the end of the day when I tried to warp home using a totem.

Did you make sure your custom portrait files (spring_portrait.png, summer_portrait.png, etc.) are located in the correct directory specified in the JSON file (assets/)?

yeah by default when the mod can't find a portrait to use, it uses the zoomed in pixelated ver.
cause somebody (might have been you) had a way higher default version of their OC

For context: I used HD Portraits patch to convert Orange Pie's & lunnakatt's portraits for Cecilia & Denver. Have been troubleshooting errors for a few days. I saw no errors (finally) when I loaded the game.

so i have a margo question. i have the professions module installed along with some others. i have raised my farming skill to 10, chose artisan, reset and raised it to 10 again, chose agriculturist, and reset again.
i thought the perks were supposed to stack between those two, but i only have the agriculturist perks. (for example, iridium quality ancient fruit wine sells for 3300, which is the base price, not the artisan price)
is that how it's supposed to work or is this something i should report on the mod page? i can include a smapi log if people want, but it's not really going to show anything informative.

late here but the short version is that you probably wanna infuse the infinity band with 3 different gems that are not adjacent to each other on the little diagram. I haven't tried it yet though!
When I say "little diagram" this is what I mean - and ruby and topaz count as adjacent to each other here
If you infuse the band with 3 different gems that aren't adjacent to each other, you should get a chord, which will do... something cool, idk!
And if you only have enough shards for 2 infusions, not 3, pick a pair that is 3-4 spots apart from each other for maximum resonance
You actually get 4 slots, so if you pick 4 different gems, some dissonance is unavoidable, but you can also get 2 chords, I assume
This is all based on my reading of the description and my background of music theory - I haven't tried ANY of this in game yet!
Soon I'll have a Galaxy soul and I'll be able to try it, though
And I believe there's 4 slots available, so you could either use 2 of the same gem, or try a 4th different gem - I think infusing a 4th gem sounds more fun, you'll have a little dissonance but you should get a 2nd chord out of it!

after you download a mod, you need to open the .zip and place it into your Mods folder

Long story short, BFAV animals seemingly randomly will transform into vanilla cows or vanilla chickens on the day they become adults. If they make it to adulthood, they seem to be permanently fine. But it's maybe 50/50 odds that they will make it to adulthood without becoming chickens/cows

Hi, I recently started to mod SDV for the first time & have encountered an issue where my background music doesn't play at all, but I do get all other sounds. Vanilla BGM is working fine. My current suspicion is that I did something incorrectly with SAAT & the SDV Expanded mod.

I suspected that error was unrelated, but I wasn't sure if farm animals were classed as "NPCs" somewhere in the code

last time I brought up this error, I was told that it was only an issue on Macs, and that on Windows it worked fine, but I didn't have any logfiles to parse at that time
they're sort of NPCs, but that schedule error is something I've seen in other NPCs

Hi, i got a new laptop recently and have gone back to modding stardew valley. but now whenever i attempt to create a new game, or load an old save from steam cloud, the game just freezes and is unable to progress further. i've tried getting rid of a number of mods, updating others, etc..... nothing works. i tried starting a new game, and the intro played, and then the game died the moment my character is about to arrive in the valley. i tried skipping the intro, and the game refuses to budge. i tried loading an old save, ditto.

i have a handful of other conflict errors that work in similar ways (like rsv's jio masked vs. unmasked causes conflicts) so i'm hoping once i learn to fix this one i can fix the others too
you're using multiple loads, you only need the changes that use the json, not the png

actually nvm - i think jasper.json and jasper_wheelchair.json are short and too trivial to bother with. if anyone wants to see i can upload but i think they're fine and the problem is probably in the content one

Depreciated code shouldn't stop the mod from running, but the mod will break after the next smapi update

So I downloaded some of Ellie's sprite replacement mods (Adopt n' Skin version) and put it in my Mods folder, but when I load it in SMAPI, it says the folder is empty when it's not
You have to put adopt n skin skins inside adopt n skin
You need to wait them to spawn tho

Hi I'm trying to find some help for a issue with my sprites legs on a couch in the saloon. i did some troubleshooting with east scarp discord and they suggest a fix that would be a conflict with sve since the issue stopped in the save i had their mod in before i asked and didn't realize but the fix they suggested for my other save does not work. Can I post a pic of what's happening and possibly get some suggestions on what's wrong here?

I think this is some unholy conflict between SVE and something else but I don't remember
it stopped happening in my other save but i'm not sure why BUT that save also has a different look to the saloon and fuurniture

Well i went to them because it was happening in a save with their mod first and once i got loaded and realized it stopped someone else came in and asked if i had sve and said they heard it had a conflict w immersive saloon so to try it
you can remove them from vanilla--wouldn't surprise me if that part is borked in SVE
I recall it's a known issue in sve
you can also alter or remove booths with it

odd question that might not have barring on modded game support, anybody know why if I change my audio output, Stardew Valley doesn't change with it?
oh my god this has happened to me so many times, i have no clue why it does this though. restarting the game fixes the issue usually, but i guess it just latches onto that first audio setting for dear life and wont let it go

just try, new save and cheats onto day 7 (sleep onto day 8), open letter about boulder has been gone, haven't met sorren, debug command not work
sleep one more day, debug command work. means sorren shows up at saloon at 12 pm (or depend on if it is raining or not, refer to his schedule)

honestly no, it's completely random -- we've tried, sometimes its 10-20 min intervals and what I'm doing is different every time
sometimes loading screens, sometimes trying to open a chest, just moving, sometimes it just starts lagging!
based on what I looked into this error message is telling you that there is a problem with the file name or path specified when trying to create a new file. It looks like the file in question is a log file that is intended to be written to when a player disconnects from a multiplayer game.
are you crashing when somebody else leaves?
I'm the only player aside from the host so I can't check that :(

might be a different error thats causing this then...I would try reinstalling and see if it still happens. Or wait and see if somebody else might know whats up
I'll reinstall again - I didn't have SMAPI the first time I reinstalled so I'll hope for the best

I would like to say, yes its few minutes to launch the game, but loading save is still long although day 2.
you have quite a lot expansion mod and loading save file depends on your hardware

hi guys! i have an huge query. so theres this map called "white water map" which replaces your in-game riverland map. i tried it, but it just doesnt work! and its xnb also so its a big problem for me. if possible can anyone find the white water map cp conversion? i searched for it thoroughly yet i cant find it.
also i use foliage redone

it does (I know b/c I tested it earlier this year) only problem is it uses a custom tilesheet that likely won't work with any recolor :/

I recently got a new computer so Ive been resetting up my mods and despite installing smapi (both through nexus and through the direct downloads) and following the instructions on both when I open stardew its just regular stardew and not smapi
Im pretty sure I have everything hooked up correctly like it worked perfectly fine on my old computer

I already did that but it still launches reglar stardew
it's really pretty otherwise! if you know how to use Tiled you could potentially remove the picnic area and just fill it with normal grass. But I know Tiled can be daunting if it's your first time
