ok, i give up with the ridgeside modpack, I can't understand why it doesn't detect the assets folders, even after fresh installs.

But every time I go to save the game it kicks me out, when I had smapi and I tried saving the game a bunch of error codes would come up so I tried un installing smapi completely and now it just crashes whenever I save

Hey, I have a question related to how multiplayer works.
Why do both me and my friends can play at different farms styles, while playing in the same multiplayer server?
For exemple, Default Farm, Grandpa's Farm and Immersive Farm?
because you have a mod that overwrites the standard farm
but your friend doesn't have that mod installed
is there better things on cafe.naver? and is it possible to verify as a foreigner? I keep clicking things in the blogs and some pop up but most seem to be on the cafe side

So I have an issue..
I want to play Stardew Valley expanded and installed all the files and SMAPI but when I try to start Stardew over the StardewModdingAPI it just closes after the waiting for game to launch... . I already reinstalled SMAPI, I'm on the newest version of stardew and have all the mods newly downloaded and no idea what else I can do. The Mods are in the correct Folder and its also Launching from the correct location. I had SMAPI in the past on my Hard Drive(which is still there but everything is running over a SSD now) so I know it can work, it just doesnt anymore.
Does anyone know things I could try, since I already tried everything I can think of.
I may have structured my question in a bad manner, so I apologize.
What I wanted to know is HOW can we, with different mods that overwrite the farm, play one in each, without a "farm compatibility"?
In another words, why does it work in this way? Does it mean that there is no "server setting" in regards to farms, therefore everything is a "local setting"?
sdv doesn't have a server

because all mods are hosted client-side, so they don't have access to your farm map file if they don't have it

alright, I'll keep that in mind
I downloaded a DGA furniture mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/14020?tab=description) and put a couple of the potted rose decorations outside. A few days later I realized that the decorations are completely uninteractable. I can't pick them up, or move them, or delete them. I tried to find them in my save file to manually delete them and I couldn't find them there either. Reset terrain features didn't affect them, neither did Modify This. Anyone have any suggestions?

I can say that there's some weirdness in VPR's sprites

You can run smapi installer again and right at the end of installation, there's green text that you can copy to launch option on steam, aassuming you're in windows

either you disable mod manually for each saves or use stardrop mod manager to make profile. you need to set what mods used before the game launch tho

alright, ill check out this stardrop mod manager. If i am using some serious mods like ridgeside village and STVE in save 1, but i start another save without them, my save 1 wont get corrupted because of that new save right?
I'm having issues getting mods to work in general, I went through the SMAPI installation, found compatible mods I wanted, extracted them in the mods folder to their own folder. Checked for compatibility and dependencies. Am I missing any steps here?
correct, i do that so i activate all mod for expanded save file and only QoL mods for other saves

Either from the StardewModdingAPI exe in the game folder, or set your launch options (https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Installing_SMAPI_on_Windows) to get it to start automatically when you launch Stardew from the Steam/GoG launchers
Since you haven't gotten a response that I can see, your save is corrupted. Use one of SMAPI's backups or revert by the old file in your saves folder

Hello, I'm having trouble with lag. My game lags very often for like a minute or two intermittently. I'm noticing it's happening more and more frequently. I am playing with 95 mods (including utility mods), and I know this is definitely contributing to the issue. I have tried to free up space on my computer by uninstalling games I'm not currently playing and getting rid of mods I'm not super attached to. I understand that the best and easiest fix would be to remove at least some of the mods I use, however, in the 2 years of me owning this pc I used to have way more mods that I'm currently using with minimal lag. I am noticing my computer struggling with other (unmodded) games, so this is not a fault of the individual game, but rather my pc. Any advice on what I could do to reduce lag? I'm unsure whether I should just go ham deleting stuff left and right or if there is a better way of dealing with this issue?
Three things. One, do you have PyTK? Because that can cause lag. Two, do you have SpriteMaster? Because that can remove it. Three: Do you have profiler? That can narrow down what is causing your lag
Generally, deleting things doesn't speed your PC up
Try closing background programs, see if it's starting stuff up on startup like printer drivers or whatever, restart it if you haven't lately, etc
I do have PTYK, I think at least some of my mods require it. I don't know what SpriteMaster or profiler are
All of this is good too. Wingheart's right, since deleting things just removes stuff from storage. It's like saying if you have less weight an exercise bike will run better. The bike runs on mechanical stuff (in this analogy, processor, memory, etc.) not off of the person on the bike

SpriteMaster (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4922) is a mod that resamples the game's graphics to be smoother and improves performance.
You can turn off the resampling too if you don't like it (or change the settings - experiment!)
If you want to install that too, you can, it'll help. Disable resampling if you don't like SpriteMaster's graphic changes

Because everything visible to me says "no PyTK". No TMXL, no CF, and no mods that jump out as needing it

You can try to load the save with SMAPI and then Error Handler will list off the custom content it removed from the save to prevent crashing - this will catch locations and NPCs

Ah this is about that issue with VPR and SM not playing nice a few days ago
@lavish marlin As of right now, I'm aware that Spritemaster will cause red dots on the edges of water in certain areas of the game when VPR is installed and the user enables certain settings. Earthy recolour wasn't affected by this, though. Not sure about other recolours, will have to test.
For reference, these are the settings that were being used when the graphical glitches occurred.

Is there anything else I need to do to change a character sprite than replace the xnb file in the characters folder? Ive done so but the character in game is still using his vanilla sprite

if you did replace the file, it sounds more like another mod replacing the sprite afterwards (we could see it from the smapi log, as long as you viewed the wizard after loading a save). this kind of xnb replacement is very easy to convert to content patcher pack too, i can do it if needed

nothing seems to overwrite him in this one though the previous day there was some SVE edits to him but as far as I can find there isnt a sprite sheet in SVE for him that it'd be using. I've tried replacing it with a sprite from a more recent mod too to no avail.

yeah
well, sve does edit the character sprite sheet so i'd say it's very possible that it's overwriting it. but in any case you can try this, i can't really test it so please feel free to report if it doesn't work. the sprites aren't fully compatible with SVE though probably and won't replace the wizard sprite in every situation

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

hellooo ive just installed the super hopper mod, i also have automate and deluxe grabber redux. this is the set up in my tea house. so the grabber grabs all the tea leaves from the bushes, goes into the chest then into the kegs. im hoping that itll then feed the completed tea into the chest>hopper>chest>shipping bin. im just wondering if i have more tea leaves than kegs, and all the kegs are busy, will the leaves go straight through to the shipping bin? and if so, is there a way to stop that so that they are only shipped when processed into tea? sorry if this is a common question or something, ive had a look around and havent been able to find the exact answer

yes but i think it has some issues with shuffling stuff, i havent had any issues with it so far

Hellos! I have a pretty heavily modded game and so far, everything has been working mostly as intended. However, I am having an issue with this one that the mod author apparently doesn't quite know might be the cause either.

I cannot seem to change the wallpaper or flooring of the additional room. Though I can with every other room in the house. Is there a known cause or mod incompatibility that happens with certain farmhouse mods?
I know there are some that you have to change through configs, since I have the modern bathroom mod that utilizes the upper northeast corner of the farmhouse. But this one, you're supposed to be able to use the vanilla style of decorating.
The gardening area works just fine, from what I can tell.

I installed SMAPI, I'm using macOS and Stardew from GOG. I put the mod into /Applications/Stardew Valley.app/Contents/MacOS/Mods/HoldToBreakGeodes. The mod doesn't seem to work (can't hold down to process geodes), and the folder ~/.config/StardewValley/ErrorLogs does not exist.

hello ! i just switched from windows to linux on my pc, i tried installing smapi following the steps on the wiki but it doesn't work (i'm using ubuntu distribution) :
- when i execute the .sh file it creates the mod and all other smapi's file in my stardew valley folder
- when i used to launch my game on windows it would launch the smapi console too, i don't know if it should be the same on linux but i don't see it so the game is like the original one
i've been doing researches for 2 hours and didn't find any solution, this discord server is my last hope π

You should redownload buildable greenhouse since it looks like it's missing a file, lest it's been overlooked and it's an actual bug, 
I edited the greenhouse to use the fall interior map (Rikai's Seasonal Greenhouse) instead of the spring map, I think I accidentally reverted/removed something
So it's definitely my doing, I just need to fix it and see if that's the problem

Those are pretty small updates, I don't think any of the changes would cause that. Does it still happen if you switch those back to the previous versions?

I recently added Teh Fishing Overhaul, and all of the fish show up as weeds in the fishing menu

I've looked at the comments on its Nexus page, and people have a different but similar issue where they would only catch Weeds or Trash which is caused by a mod conflit, Skip Fishing Minigame. But I don't have that mod and the issue isn't quite the same
When I hook a fish it always shows up as weeds, but if I catch it, the fish shows up as normal, I just don't know which fish I hooled.

Hello me again. I'm getting stuck in one of Sterling's cutscenes, Namely the railroad one. You hear the whistle and then black screen. In the log, idrc about Rolf - I can fix that. As well as the portraits. Those are new errors. But these I have been trying to fix for quite some time. I'm assuming it's an It's Always Raining in the Valley issue?
I'm also having the Laura's Grave cutscene issue where the location is broken still, which was a known issue the mod author knew about, but mine did not resolve. I didn't try it in that load though.

hey yall so i downloaded content patcher and installed StardewXnbHack to unpack the content files and then i edited the sprite sheet for cat 1, the wiki told me to put it back into the unpacked content folder which i did, and then it would work in-game but it doesn't
ok so, a lot going on here! π 1) can you point to where the wiki says this? cause that sounds incorrect so likely needs fixing which leads me to the next point 2) unpacking the files is so you can look at them and see what's what, but the Content (unpacked) folder has no effect on anything in game 3) you shouldn't replace your game files in general but rather use Content Patcher. This will require you to make a CP pack that contains a manifest, content json, and an assets folder with the cat pic

Stardrop isn't a mod, so it needs to be separate from Stardew

hey does anyone know if marrying the wizard before you get the dark talisman quest messes it up? ive completed cc days ago and had the ceremony, but walking into the railroad area doesnt trigger the quest and im not sure why...
using sve compatible romanceable ras
idk but a safe way 2 check is alwyas to disable the romance mod and see if it triggers
unless that messes stuff up i have never used a mod that adds a romance option
Ok so I've got some yellow text that tells me 1, that the game doesn't know what certain items are, and 2, it's removing recipes like chocolate cake. I did update LoC recently and that seemed to resolve the issue, but I got it again the next time I loaded the game. It's not the biggest issue but I would like to resolve it.

It's making my game load slower and I don't even do anything there, I've done a couple tasks and that's about it
You can remove it, but anything in the East Scarp location will be gone
A okay with me, I don't have anything there
Also if you try to load the save in vanilla on the very first day after removing any custom location or NPC it will not load
But yeah, if you're loading it with modded and you don't have anything there the only consequence will be SMAPI saying it removed invalid content to prevent a crash (the invalid content is save file remnants of ES)

!reset have you tried resetting your game files? just to try the simplest thing first

not that it helps much, but the recipes that LoC outputs to the log do look invalid, since they have ingredient from category -1, which isn't a valid category in the game as far as i know

yeah this is known (i think) I reported it on gmcm's modpage but I think it's not that big of an issue, just dont resize your window on the keybind menu
I just installed a bunch of mods and now my energy disappears almost instantly (can't even chop down one tree). Do any of you know what could be causing it?
i don't know really, i'd guess it's some problem with LoC given that only it and Json Assets seems to be editing the cooking recipes. Cookies is a native recipe so it couldn't be deleted anyway. if you know any mods that changes those recipes you could remove them i guess

That's a .rar file, you need ZArchiver which is linked in the Governer message

Thanks! I asked Yuuki since I do use Vortex and that tends to leave empty folders if you manually modify e.g. a config.json file and then disable the mod. Will look into migrating to Stardrop.
Stardrop is good, it was made specifically for stardew and has mod group support and stuff.

it says no mods bc it couldn't load any of them before it crashed
And I did update smapi and the error handler is there.

Looks like you've been extracting to a folder named after the zip, we don't recommend that. SMAPI can't read them properly

You need to rename so the names are shorter 
the mods are there, they exist, something is telling smapi to exit
I'm going with the mod folder names are just too long, SMAPI doesn't tend to like that from what I remember 
if you go back to 3.17.2, does that work for you?
that's the windows path length, I wouldn't see any mods loading if that's the case
mods are loading, you can see it in TRACE
but the process is being killed off before SMAPI can report that

When loading a huge amount of mods, what pc components will improve my loading time? ( RAM, CPU,SSD,...)
Single core processing speed would be my guess
Also SSD
Since SDV is in general all on a single core, overall computer speed doesn't matter so much as how fast a single core of your computer goes
Having things in SSD is good for data transfer stuff
I am far from a computer expert, this is mostly what I've heard other people who know more say
RAM is only an issue if you run out
(I would say everything is nice)
(I don't think single core performance has gotten better since 2012)

it's the path you use when you install smapi
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley" is default for windows on steam, it's just the folder where the main smapi file is

I also removed Pytk and the mods that require it but it still won't stay open.
Besides Stardrop are there any other applications that can check and auto update the mods in my folders?

I try to put fish in the fish tank and get this menu instead, which I can't do anything with. Does anyone recognize the mod associated with that? Or otherwise have any idea on how to fix it?
