don't touch anything, close eerything else active before you try loading into the game and just sit and stare at teh machine
Just don't touch your game while it's loading also get Spritemaster if you haven't already
trust me, my old machine used to take like 15 minutes
this one takes maybe 3 minutes and it feels like an eternity

SVE and RSV and ES all add lots of maps, and these things take time for the game to set up

The out of date mod in the log is the bagi pack for stardew vineyard so it's probably not the cause of this weirdness. The shipping bin is cut off even with no texture replacement mods changing it.

if you are refering to the content patcher mod then you need to unzip what you downloaded then drop the folder into the mods' folder.

That's normal, I'm pretty sure, it's just that smapi needs time to load the mods. While that happens it's best to just wait for the game to load

They do that whenever their path is blocked from long enough
In vanilla they destroy the forage and continue on
They go back to normal speed I think when they move to the next map

What version of the PPJA mods should I use for Android
Also can we get some sort of tool that will tell us the best versions of each mod to use for Android, smapi already documents most of them, would it really be much trouble to pick the best version for Android?
Mod authors sometimes pin the best android version, and there is a page on the modding wiki that lists version numbers too
Though at this point...two years after 1.5....a lot of mods just don't have android versions

Hey guys I need help with 'the farmer's children" mod. It was working for like one in game day, but it didn't make my child's sprite the actual NPC so I tried to troubleshoot it the way the mod creator said to on nexus and now it won't work at all:|
I switched from modded to vanilla gameplay after some time and everytime I try to open one of my saves the game crashes. could it have something to do with the fact i removed the mods?

Please reinstall SMAPI and then post a SMAPI log from a time when you try to open the save

@tired brook : I posted about this on reddit, but was told to ping you here on discord, so I signed up. I'm not sure which mod-related channel it should go in but here seemed most appropriate. TL;DR version is that I'm on Linux, and SMAPI is eating an entire CPU core at 100% when running, even without other mods. No crashes or anything unusual in the SMAPI log. This is a known issue with .NET 5.0 and Ubuntu latest

(Not a Linux user personally but I've seen users/atra report this)
Right, it's why I can't run it from command line. I gave a look to trying to get an earlier openssl, but the few things I found searching were broken; I'm not sure how easy it actually is to do that.

Hi! I'm not a Linux user, so not sure I can help much. Could the readv be due to the console input thread though, which listens for commands entered into the console? If so I could create a test build that disables console input to see if that makes a difference.

when searching for others with this issue I did find that old thing (from someone on Arch) I linked in the reddit post, which seems to be the same or similar issue, and some suggestive complaints from steam deck users, but clearly it's not universal

I was looking at https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started#Getting_started to see how to install mods, but I'm stuck at the part where I unzip the mod folder. In the images, it shows there should be a folder titled "Mods" in the folder that has Stardew Valley.exe but I don't have one. Will I be fine if I just create a new folder and name it "Mods"?

If you don't have a Mods folder, either you didn't install SMAPI or you have multiple copies of the game and it didn't install to the one you're trying to mod
(either use installation option 2 and give it the filepath to the version you want to mod, or put the installer folder in the Stardew Valley folder you want to mod before running the installer)
This time I gave the filepath and I think it installed

StardewModdingAPI exe is already in that folder
Yeah if StardewModdingAPI isn't already in the folder then your installer somehow didn't work
SMAPI installs the mod folder and StardewModdingAPI automatically. You unzip your mods to the mods folder which is already in there
Again, the installer should have told you exactly which folder it is, so follow what the installer told you locationally

An XNB mod replaces some of your game's .xnb files to change the game (unlike newer mods that go in your Mods folder). This is an older type of mod that's no longer recommended, and can cause a number of issues. See https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Using_XNB_mods for help using them (and a list of alternatives using Content Patcher), and https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Editing_XNB_files for help unpacking & editing them (including for use with Content Patcher).

Say I started a game already and downloaded a new mod. Would that new mod apply to any already saved games I have?
Can you try the following:
- Open terminal
- Type
cd Downloadsand hit return - Place literally any random .png image file into Downloads and keep note of its name
- Type
open SOMEIMAGENAME.pngand hit return, where that filename is the one from step 3 - Tell me if that worked or did anything weird

If you take your 5kb Stardew Valley unix executable and open in TextEdit, that's where the error is coming from

@tired brook There seems to be some kind of MacOS Ventura Terminal permissions issue, I'm trying to help nBey with this but at some point this might require some change to the script. Basically, they installed SMAPI fine, but when they launch the game it throws "open-smapi-terminal.command" can't be opened because open is not allowed to open documents in Terminal., which is new and different from the internal error previously seen in users trying to run the installer. They have already set both Stardew Valley and Terminal to full disk access in System Preferences. I'm not sure familiar with the script or why it might be failing in this new and exciting way, and I don't have access to Ventura myself, but if you have ideas on how to fix they might be able to try them.

I just reread your summary for Pathoschild - and minor clarification: I've had Stardew installed for a long time, well before the Ventura update, and SMAPI was working until the Ventura update.
I'm going to turn off Full Disk Access to Terminal for the time being, but I'll turn it back on to guinea pig anything else.
Hi! I'm not a macOS user, so unfortunately I can't really help beyond that. I'm happy to make any changes needed to the script for Ventura support, but we might need to wait until some of the macOS mod authors get the update so they can look into what changes might be needed.

I have a question about Steam Link, with SMAPI
Whenever I try to play Stardew through steam link, it loads but the SMAPI log stays in front of the screen, and i can't get to the play screen
does anyone else play modded through Steam Link?
I think people have tried before but I have not heard from anyone who succeded

I've been trying in front of my PC to work it out, on my phone when the SMAPI log is stuck there, i bring up the virtual keyboard to 'alt tab'
and then it does do it, but then only the controls work on my PC, not my phone
The funny thing is, I used to play via Steam Link and it worked
But I had massive fps drops instead
Or rather, the game worked properly on the original screen, but it was stuttering on the remote one

today i'd had the thought to say goodbye to earthy and use VPR instead, but i was unhappy surprised by red lines appears on waters edge (in all area in lakes & rivers). you can find screenshots above ^ this visual bug doesn't occur when using earthy recolor, only VPR

Hi! Can someone help me with Minerva's Harder Community Center Bundles? I can't seem to make it work and I don't know why.
I already had gained access to the community center (I'm on spring 20, Y1), and had completed only the spring forage bundle when I decided to try this mod. I installed everything and set the difficulty to PPJA but nothing changed. The SMAPI console doesn't show any error messages. What could be wrong?
I believe bundles are generated when you make the save

Yeah that's an XNB replacer mod, not really recommended to use them. If you do plan to use it, backup the file it replaces first.

These break easily with game updates, so it's better to use content patcher mods and the like instead.

Those portraits have a CP version so don't use XNB

Make sure your mod is fully updated
iirc, a certain amount of time needs to pass (as in days) for a cutscene to happen. And once the cutscene happens you'll be given the option. But I think on wednesdays or thursdays she's always in her house. (I've had her turned off for a while now so I don't really remember). There could be something wrong in your smapi log though, but you would have to post that. (I tried my best to say this without spoilers)

I got to say I’m really impressed with how well almost all mods work together. I have all of the ppja mods, SVE, ridgeside, zuzu, and east scarp and aside from taking forever to load even on multiplayer the game works fine.
I’ve got a total of like 400 mods installed.
One weird issue I have is skill rings that increase my fishing skill seems to conflict with better crab pots.
Can you give a more detailed description of how you’re checking dino floors as well? The log looks ok to me although better crafting spacecore support is no longer needed I believe (check mod page for details)
well, I just go to scull cavern, get to the floor that is mentioned in the almanac, and dinos are just not there lol

It should be noted that dinosaurs are not guaranteed to spawn on those floors. Dinosaurs can only spawn on certain floor layouts, and those aren't predictable.
I have better crab pots installed to allow for iridium quality catches and it looks like the fishing skill rings stop that from happening

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

Is the Canon-Friendly Dialogue Expansion mod okay to run in a co-op world where I'm not the host? Or will that cause issues? Because the non-gendered dialogue version of that mod is really nice to have for my nonbinary self

i have tried using the guide to no avail (it is unclear if it is using native or proton and i do not know if i should force it to one of these)
By default it would use native
It’s only if you encounter issues that you would have to explicitly change it to proton

However if you don’t know much about linux this might be trickier

I’ve been playing with the most mods I have ever used recently. With 430ish mods including the PPJAs, SVE, RSV, east scarp, Zuzu, a bunch of QOL general mods, and quite a few Alternative Textures.

You're almost certainly not in the right directory when executing the command, if it can't find the script

Figure out what the right directory is based on where that file is, and then navigate to that directory

Hello, since today I've been having this issue of SMAPI crashing when I'm trying to enter the game.
The game enters normally without SMAPI, so I don't think it's an issue there.
I'm asking help because I'm not really tech savvy, I know surface level stuff for the mods but not all of the coding and that...
And it's odd because it was working perfectly 2 days ago (last time I launched it), I have not changed any files or anything. The only thing that comes to my mind is the fact that there was a blackout while I was playing, but I'm not sure if that can break files like that.
I already tried re-updating SMAPI but it did nothing too.
Here's the latest log, it keeps crashing right after that last line (which I'm pretty sure is not fully loaded, as I remember the last text when starting the game being different)

Is there a good way to avoid json shuffle, I would like to add mermaid island to my save midgame but it will definitely cause issues

I tried loading and my custom fences became yellow squares that can’t be removed
Try not having any modded items in your chests or inventory when you add the new item mod in, that's a decent way of avoiding json shuffle
Same thing goes when you're removing a mod, trash or sell everything the mod adds then delete the mod after saving and closing the game. That way you don't have any glitched items left behind.

if you converted it into 16*32, youd just be stretching the shirt

i went to check and shirts are 8*32 so you don't need to change anything
So I can pretty much keep them the way they are and just make a .json that fits? Saw some examples where they still put a 8x32 and into a 16x32 but the 8 pixels weren't used

Ok so I was trying to edit Better Mixed seeds and now it's throwing errors. I'm sure I deleted something wrong here but since I've never done this before I'm not sure what went wrong. I was trying to just delete the ancient crops from the list since that has a story line and I didn't want to alter the progression there.

So you're aware, this is because most people assume you're using the non-compatibility mode branch first, then if you say you have to run that they assume Steam. Mainly because we also make the assumption (and yes, many assumptions, I know, but given the amount of modded game support things...) that if it's going to require you to rebuy the game and then go through arcane steps just to get it to work, usual users aren't going to go through the entire process

so I've been having this issue where when I press play on steam to start playing sdv its been having the thing that loads the mods pop up for a second and then goes away and I've tried restarting my computer multiple times and its not working so I haven't been able to play sdv.

There are some instances where you will need to use the compatibility version of the game. Please be aware that SMAPI/game mods are not compatible with this version.
On Steam: In your library, right-click Stardew Valley and select Properties... > Betas > then "compatibility" under the dropdown.

Easiest way to find out quickly, rename your PyTK folder to .PyTK and then start up the game. Grab your log and SMAPI will tell you if any other mod is disabled after removing PyTK.

running into a new issue, Ridgesive Assets say its empty, I just reinstalled it fresh from NM, and it says the same still. Am I forgetting something?

What mod is that? Can't find Machine goods on nexus or anywhere else
That's just part of Artisan Valley. AV has 4 different components, excluding the Miller Time add-on, Machine Goods is basically just the Json Assets part of AV.

Must be an error while installing, so yeah, delete the Artisan Valley folder and try installing it again.

No. Oh, I think I forgot to install PPJA Mega Pack, it's listed as a dependency
I didn't really want anything else aside from the artisan goods, not the meat or anything else that's included
The mega pack is just all the PPJA crop and recipe mods bundled into one pack, it won't break your artisan valley installation if you don't have it installed.
Artisan Valley will work even without the rest of the PPJA suite installed, actually

Show me your mod folder? If you added fruits and veggies correctly then smapi should be able to find it just fine.
