I've seen that happen sometimes, the npcs duplicate, get the weird character at the end of their paths, and they cuase this issue

so uh i downloaded sve and ridgeside village since ive heard they were compatable but every time i go to make a new profile the game just stops responding and i cant check logs either cause the game wont let me alt tab to anything until i close the game

I'm trying to make a roommate mod, and someone told me that Juna's dialogue didn't work.
It works, haven't noticed anything weird
I do have her set as non-platonic in Juna's config, but tbh haven't noticed anything that would be in any way suggestive from her yet

You can use sublime to look through whole folders for specific words or sentences
or just use "find" in notepad++

I guess it's a program that lets you look up lines of text in a big folder. I downloaded it from the internet, and I got to search through 700+mods in like a minute

Two content packs want to load the 'Maps/Sewer' asset (CP Underdark Sewer and [CP] Downtown Zuzu). Neither will be applied. You should remove one of the content packs, or ask the authors about compatibility.

i went to make a profile with sve and ridgeside village but even after waiting on the not responding page for 2 hours i got no further
often a very long time but 2 hrs seems like it maybe went south
can you check if you're in select mode?

@lament prairie the issue with it freezing/lagging tends to happen at around 4pm each day...it temporarily fixes when i open my inventory but as soon as close inventory, it freezes again

Basically, it assigns the entire asset editing process to the mod that calls the invalidate
only do GC on day end, and just do a background GC at warps
which, uh, content patcher calls the invalidate more often than most other mods, but other mods do patching too

if a mod is calling Invalidate, it is the one that is inducing the cost of it
(SM doesn't like Invalidate)

Both didn't work

a workaround is to create the save with no mods
and then immediately exit and then add the mods

Reset Terrain Features (https://smapi.io/mods/#Reset_Terrain_Features) is a mod that lets you reset, clear, or generate everything that spawns on a map using an in-game menu. That's especially useful when changing maps mid-save, as the debris will otherwise use the old layout (causing things like trees in the water or bushes blocking exits).

i was directed over here, i'm having a weird problem with my server; i played about an hour ago and everything was fine. i changed one mod config and updated 2 mods, and i'm not getting any error messages, but all of a sudden my saves are gone and my smapi is launching with a weird emblem? is there any way to fix this?
edit: i can't update pytk or tmxl because it messes up other mods, and it was working fine earlier without them being updated.

@ornate tide noclip mode does turn off SM but it also causes weirdness with the pixellation overall

No, sorry, I mean I just changed it so that noclip uses a different keybind, F11 is now on-off Spritemaster and nothing else. but turning off SM makes the blue ground go away

it was set at "max scale 6" by default and when I changed it to 5, it fixed it
and now changing it back to 6 doesn't make the issue reoccur

Using Steam Deck - I am trying to get DCBurger Portrait mods to enable in game - I think the button needs to be changed in the config file so I can cycle it (while I have a conversation box opwn in game, I think?). The buttons I have set it to and relaunched to try haven't worked - any ideas?

If you got the custom BFAV animal and then removed it, you may have to 'sell' the animal before you remove the mod. Meaning, yes you will have to buy a new animal, so just in case it won't corrupt your game :)
I'd recommend updating your mods first, it may fix the problem.

You can use SVE on mobile, but it's a major undertaking to get it installed. I also found that it didn't perform well on my (pretty new) tablet, so uninstalled it. It was just a bit jerky with moving around, so some people might not mind that.
She has the same problem with the base game. She zooms out and it's lagging as hell. But the tablet is new and not so bad.
All the time or just when it's raining and such? I used to have a problem with rain on my older tablet.
I also tried a large and massively overdecorated modded farm. Some jerkiness with that, but it mostly went away after I cleared out my grass and weeds in the game.

When two mods both edit dialogue or images, whichever mod loads last "wins" and is the one you see in the game. Does anyone know of a way to check which mods are responsible for certain assets? I have the fireplace below, but I didn't intentionally download anything I know changed it. I searched for fireplace in my mod folder and nothing like this came up. I used Lookup Everything on it, and it said that it was using the default for Alternative Texture. I definitely didn't have it last time I played the game, which would seem to imply a mod I downloaded or updated did it, but I don't see anything relevant there either.

You don't need premium to download mods though
The only benefits of premium are faster download speeds and more automated mod downloading/updating if you use certain mod managers

it's just a pain, I usually just prefer to start a new save
but one of the key things is you remove all your mods but keep error handler, because it'll deal with a lot of the problems of removing your mods for you

im playing SDV again and I want to download and play with 1 mod, and delete the rest. i tried to find the files or something to delete the mods but they're nowhere to be found, yet smapi runs them all every single time. How do I remove them and stop them from running, while still keeping smapi?

but yes, you can mod the mobile version. I don't know the specifics but I'm sure there's a guide floating around. I do know mobile is 1.4 whereas PC is 1.5 so for mobile you need mods that are older or that specifically state they'll work with 1.4.

the map locations mod automatically turns it off, but if you don't have that, it might still be on. See if that changes it?
For the map: find the "Seasonal Map" set it to false
For the npcs: try downloading Npc Map Locations

Okay so... I have a sort of broad question that will most likely spark much more specific follow up questions. Since I started using mods I've only played solo. My friend got the game and we wanna start a game together and she wants to get into modding. So what I'm wondering is what should I do (if anything) to ensure that the mods in the multi-player game doesn't affect my solo play. I know our mod setups have to match and we plan on using the same ones that I've been using at this point but she wants to exclude a few. If I temporarily disable those ones in Vortex and deploy then enable and deploy again after shutting down the game and starting it again when I go to play solo would that be effective? Also is there anything I should know about how config files might be affected? Or is there a completely different approach I should take here...?

Implemented in version 1.5.5, MonoGame is the latest framework that Stardew uses, and was implemented to solve problems such as Memory limits and audio issues. Unfortunately, MonoGame has a bug which affects random computers, not allowing them to launch Stardew. This bugs randomly targets computers, regardless of your operating system or hardware. If it has sound then audio hardware has to be present, and the only other way is "when audio hardware is installed but device drivers for the audio hardware are not present or enabled."

bit of a random question: so i have been looking for a mod that improves performance (my computer isn't bad but isn't good either) and stumbled across sprite master. could it potentially cause problems? i haven't really gone deep into mods just the odd one to correct a bug (like the ui scale issue i had a while ago).
SpriteMaster has the same potential of causing bugs as any other mod
But in general, it's a good idea to have as it improves performance immensely usually
Just remember to configure it or everything will probably look really weird to you

And the version number SMAPI says to update to, of course. if the Nexus version doesn't match the SMAPI version, unofficial likely exists. if it does, manifest.json likely just didn't get updated with the proper version number

it's not unusual for an update to go out within a few hours of a new mod release if there was an issue that didn't get caught, but yeah, if you're downloading the latest file this very moment and it's still saying it needs an update, the author probably made an update and just forgot to change the version in the manifest

Ninja yours is weird. it says you have 1.0.0, nexus says the spouse room add-on file should be 1.1.0, and your log says the update should be 1.2.0
that SMAPI message is about updating the add-on file for Shiko's spouse room, not the main Shiko mod.
it's like it's confusing the add on with the main file?
the main Shiko mod current version is 1.2.0
That might be what's happening! it would make sense given how old the mod is and the mod creator disappeared in 2019

Shiko is such an old mod it's amazing she still works at all, so... small blessings. If you wanna get rid of the error, you can change the version in the manifest yourself and SMAPI will shut up about it needing an update

Need help with Android... Updated to new smapi 3.7.10 and it loaded nicely etc but it is not loading Any of my mods. It lists maybe 4 mods that I think Pathos had when working on it & then just nothing... Here's the log but it shows zip https://smapi.io/log/9a159557d4fa4f38b55bf06359cdf53c

just tested, spritemaster seems to make my game lag a little bit quite frequently, are there settings that can lessen this issue?
My likely theories at this point are that the XNB mod was improperly converted or something else is overriding the horse/rider portion.
Ahhh... I'd guess something went wrong in the changeover, it doesn't always have to be a thing that causes a big error. but this is out of my wheelhouse :(

i.e. used GMCM to change the settings
not initially, though when i tried to turn it off in generic config menu it made smapi explode and crash
and i only tried changing things in the generic config when i noticed it lag hitches
Wanted to say a quick thanks for the input on Shiko, I think I'll just leave it as is. Everytime I mess with mods something seems to go wrong π
turning it off wasn't the best idea. But you can get the performance improvement usually without having to do that. Instead of turning the whole mod off, turn the Scaler/Scaler Gradient to none
i didn't lose much progress thankfully
At that point it should just be doing resampling so that things load a bit faster rather than constantly changing the original graphics
i temp uninstalled it and it was definitely the lag source, so i'll see how turning off the scaling goes

what does that (scaling/resampling) do specifically anyway? i'm not familiar with most fancy algorithims

but from what I know of CP from the very simple guide, the Load command will replace the entire image whereas the EditImage command replaces a part of it -- and it requires you to specify which part exactly

If the original xnb mod is meant to swap out one entire image for another, try replacing EditImage with Load in the files you have in the photos? again, I may not know what I'm talking about here lol. but it's a quick change to test it out and see if that's it

but json assets stuff doesn't need to be content patcher, you can add JA objects, crops, recipes etc without CP

Hey guys me and my girlfriend are playing SVE with immersive farm 2 remastered
when we try to enter the secrete woods from the standard place above the wizards tower our characters become invisible and we cannot exit
you can hear tools being used and it seems as though you can move around but character doesn't appear

im having some trouble with a linear sprinkler that bugged out
(i have RMB to activate and it waters a completely wrong spot)
i also cant pick it up by any means
i recall rearranging them someday and when i picked them up they weirdly duped
but it happened again rn when i was testing picking up the others
its just there, blocking my way xD
tried a bomb to no avail
also tried debug removeobjects, which removed everything except for these cursed sprinklers
any idea how i can forcefully clear this tile?
and repeatedly picking up the non-bugged one dupes my stacks of sprinklers?!
do you think outright removing the sprinklers mod could work too?
i dont think ill be sad about losing the small handful of sprinklers

Eh, depends, if someone is proud to pirate the game instead of buying it then sure, no need to respect them, but there are also a lot of instances of people pirating the game to see if it's worth it or even if it works and then buying it
