Hi, I read the 1.5 changelog and found this

You can now use the "Y" key to answer dialogue boxes for holes and exit ladders in the mines.

How exactly can I do this? "Y" only allows me to choose from a range of emotes, and none of them looks like a hole/ladder.
It's no difference when I go down the mines as well.

How can i kick a player to make space for a new one

on playstation

I assume this is universal for all platforms: removing someone's house at Robin's workshop should kick that player. You will have to rebuild a new one for the space to come back. This will allow a brand new player to join. It's not advised to do this while hosting a multiplayer game it might crash, so you might have to spend a day to do so by yourself without the rest of the group.

Green house for 5 wood + 10 fiber OR

Hey. It’s potentially a bug then. I’m not sure which way is the intended way, whether to have the note or not, but the same thing happened to me. It’s the same idea that a dig spot secret note wouldn’t “spawn” until you have the note, but then again like I said it might’ve been bugged. The only fix that worked for me was getting the actual note. Another good comparison would be secrets #19, and #20. I wasn’t able to trigger those pre-note, but again, that might just be a bug

While yes, the diggable spots are not yet there before getting the note (to avoid skipping the knowledge), other things like people their likes, or likely the solution to the note riddle can technically be figured out mostly by guesswork. I sadly can't recall if I did the music before I got the note, but I think I did.

hi, im relatively new to the server and stardew valley so pls let me know if im doing anything wrong. my game has been crashing a lot recently. it used to be bearable, i'd just have to restart my laptop whenever the game stopped working (frozen screen/glitchy graphics), and it would usually start back up again and work fine, but now i cant get past day 18. whenever I leave the farm and enter pierre's, or try to give pam a birthday gift, the screen freezes and sometimes it looks like its glitching out? the music still plays but I cant move anything on the screen. if there's anything i can do to fix this pls let me know! i've been rlly enjoying the game so far but now its pretty much unplayable :(( thanks!

Hey, is it possible to transfer the Savegame to a new Nintendo Switch? For example if the switch has to be replaced?

SDV isn't really graphically intensive, but I can imagine that your laptop might be overheating slowly and it's breaking things. Not sure if anything can be done about that. Either that or it's your RAM failing. Unless a mod is causing the glitchy graphics, it's usually a very bad sign of something in your machine being broken or slowly breaking.
As for crashing, I'd suggest installing smapi just so there'll be better logs.
Also before doing all that it might be a good idea to at the very least verify files and see if it's still happening.

how/where do i download smapi? as for the files ( are u referring to my save files?), i opened it today and no issues with graphics, but it still freezes when i enter pierre's (i think a cut scene is meant to be happening but it just freezes + music is playing). i also tried loading another save file, and it seems to be working ok? id really like to recover the one that keeps crashing though since most of my progress is on there.

first of all, what's in the folder for the save you're having trouble with? there should be four files, Name_Numbers, SaveGameInfo, Name_Numbers_old and SaveGameInfo_old. if any of those files have _STARDEWVALLEYSAVETMP on the end, that's your problem. if not, there's other stuff we can try!

no, a better thing to do would be to load the save with SMAPI and no mods

that way, SMAPI will clean up any custom content in there for you

it does look like something's up with your save or SaveGameInfo though--can you try going back a day? to do that, you would move Name_Numbers and SaveGameInfo out of that folder, then rename the other two files in there to remove the _old from the name. so you'd have the JsonAssets folder, two SpaceCore files, and two other files when you're finished

those are different farm names, the lightning one was likely created pre 1.5 so it's still named after the farmer

so those are the _old saves renamed, correct? can you open up both in notepad++ so we can check if they're corrupted? if you scroll down to the very bottom on a corrupt save, after it got messed up it'll have a bunch of "NUL NUL NUL NUL" or weird looking characters

The smapi error points out that the installation is somehow not complete. But you said you reinstalled the game before, and verify files, which should've fixed that problem, making me a bit clueless.
What could've possibly happened is that the uninstall wasn't complete at first and some file is messing it up.
Could you uninstall the game again. And then remove the Stardew Valley folder? Be sure to back up Mods if you have any.

Starting a new game didn't work? In that case I'd suggest reinstalling it. Be sure to find and back up your save files first, because I don't think that gets put on any cloud.

Really weird glitch that happened while playing couch co-op. The other player got stuck in a black void outside the cave. Both the 1st community centre and the first time in the mines cutseances triggered, and while i went to floor 1 of the cave, the other player spawned in this black void outside the cave. Had to wait till 2am as they passed out.

I've noticed that certain things are filtered simply by name, while others are by ID. Like the slime incubator accepts any item with "Slime Egg" in the name. Perhaps this quest also accepts anything with "Egg" in the name, but the items you pick up might be filtered by ID.

I'm thinking as hard as I can as to what might've gone wrong.
The smallest thing I can think of is that one can try to build a new cabin, to see if it's possible to join at that point. This; besides a somehow corrupted save, is the only thing that could really be different between a new save and an existing one when it comes to MP capabilities.

I’m playing on iPad Pro with the PS4 DualShock controller and it truly does change the experience (Tons of bugs, GUI changes and more) compared to a smaller screen, smaller buttons on the switch where it’s not really changed compared to the PC version.

You can use smapi just fine with someone who doesn't. In fact, plenty of mods work for whoever has them installed, host or client. Others might break things, or cause desync issues. Good programmed mods (like timespeed) will only work for the host, with reason of course.

I believe on Switch you can only decide to use either local co-op or internet co-op. And while it's possible to do local co-op on PC and then have 2 online players, those two online players can't be co-op, they have to use 2 different game sessions.

Seeing your specific desire doesn't even work for the PC right now I'm afraid it has a really low chance of it ever happening on the Switch. Best you can do is 4 player online afaik. With 4 different Switches.

It's still buggy, but if you restart enough times it'll work at some point. Steam HAS been getting some patches iirc, but I'm not sure if it fixed the issue.

You've always been able to play it through hamachi, but only do it with people you trust, or you might get hacked.

Don't mean to be curt, but the short of it is that connecting via LAN is the most stable and easiest thing to do. If you can't do that through Hamachi, it's likely a Hamachi problem. Either that or it's being set up wrong.

The only single thing I can think of you can at least figure out which side it's on (that Hamachi's not being blocked by an AV or firewall) is to see if you actually have connection to each other's shared folders. And even if that works, there might be a port problem going on specifically for the game.

To elaborate, there was a tweet linked above, and it's indeed a bug. The current workaround is to start the Qi bean quest, which somehow resets the loot table.

That's a tough one. Best I can suggest is reinstalling the game. Be careful though, I don't know what happens to save files when you do. You might need to back them up.
If it keeps happening, I'd make an official bug report, as without logs we players can't help you much.
