i have no idea @ornate belfry . for all i know its been done already. for example terraria is primarily peer to peer hosting but dedicated servers do exist. im not sure how feasible it is for stardew tho for a lot of reasons

for multiplayer, if you want to switch hosts, it takes some pretty difficult save edits to actually swap the characters. but if you're okay with just visiting the wizard to change your name and appearance, you can send the other person the save file and they can host with your character

Hi there, I've noticed that I can change my stardew "startup_preferences" file, but that doesn't seem to actually change in-game things for a farm that I "Startup"

Within startup_preferences there is the <clientOptions> which is I want for each new farm; but when a new farm is created the same section is assigned to: <options> and doesn't carry over the changes ?

Things like stowing being turned on, different custom keybinds ect

Guys, help please, I am panicking... For some reason my game file stopped appearing, I had modeled the whole farm and nearly had 100% completion rate, been playing for years, the files still exist in the %appdata% but the save file doesn't show up when I load the game.

I've tried replacing the savegameinfo with savegameinfo_old and it still doesnt work, the file now shows yet the game crashes.

Whew, managed to fix it, I used one of the .bak files, thanks anyways though.

Has anyone else gotten a glitch on multiplayer, where a player initiates the Community center cut scene, you skip the scene for yourself, and then find zero progression available for you?

Two people in my multiplayer group are able to do the community center. I skipped the scene , and now, even though i can go in, look at the bundle (in junimo language) i never gt a letter from the wizard. which means i cant contribute to the CC myself

I ran into a glitch... I'm on Switch, and a Ghost dropped a Ghostfish while my inventory was full. I dropped my Stone in order to pick it up, then noticed the community center icon in the menu was pulsing. I used it to navigate to the Specialty Fish Bundle page, and selected the Ghostfish item. This caused it to leave my inventory, which caused me to automatically pick up my Stone. Now, my inventory is full and I have an extra item attached to my cursor, and there seems to be no way to exit the Community Center menu. Clicking the back arrow with any of the buttons does nothing, and I can't navigate to the x in the corner of the window to close it. The right stick isn't doing anything at all (although clicking it to open chat still works), when normally it would act like a mouse so I could drop an item outside the window or click the x manually. All I can really do is swap which item I'm moving around or try to submit the Ghostfish, which just brings up a notification saying that it must be deposited at the community center. Is there a special way to close this window, or am I totally softlocked? Thanks for any assistance!

Hey guys, I have a doozy. So I am trying to get Stardew Valley working on my GF's new laptop. It won't boot or anything at all if you click play. I have been googling for the last 2 hours and I have narrowed it down to what I believe the culprit is. I tried installing dependencies from the _common_redists folder. I cannot install the XNA framework, because I get an error saying I I need a .net 4.0 framework client profile. I have tried installing .net 4.0, however it says I already have a newer version. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

Hello, i am having a problem with the multiplayer, i'm hosting and my friend is trying to connect, but he can't connect to me, it always gives him the error "Connection Failed"
However, i can connect and play with him just fine (besides the lag of course, which is why i am trying to host, and just for clarification, we two are on steam and could play together just fine some months ago)
I tried the normal fixes i could search up on the internet, like disabling your firewall, enabling and disabling my vpn (if it was some weird problem with it) and disconnecting from my network and reconnecting again, even tried to install Visual C++ 2013 again and nothing seems to work, any ideas?
(btw, sorry for some typos or errors i might have done while typing this, English isn't my primary language)

Hey @hexed apex I managed to fix it, I downloaded Steam link on my phone and started Stardew Valley, then i pressed on on of the buttons on my phone screen, and i could load my savefile, so i could go in settings and fix it :)

Never used Steam link before, but this was a cool way to fix it

Hry guys, i got my friends stardew for christmas and we are trying to play multiplayer but we have hit a snag. My friend is stuck on 1.5 instead of 1.5.1, and cannot seem to force steam to update it to the correct version. Go Steam and install

That should create a clean install

The old code might be from an even earlier vesion of the game. I haven't played since ~1.2. I resumed a 1.2 save with the new 1.5 update. So maybe that's why I wasn't able to bind the Z key.

Further testing, shown by starting a new game, I was able to bind Z in that new save file.

This is definitely a remnant of an old code in my old save. It's fixed now though.

And when you choose local co-op and get the "Press start to join game" that is Local on your PC/Network i think. not if you are gonna play wither others outside of your house.

My fishing rod is bugged. Every time i throw it, i get frozen in place. i cannot pull in the line, i cannot catch fish, and i cannot fix it by pressing any buttons. i have tried opening menus but it won't let me do that. i just get stuck in place for the remainder of the day and then wake up the next morning having been charged the medical bill from passing out the day prior.

Is there a bug with multiplayer for harvest times? Me and my friend (i am the host of the game) plant at the same day but my crops dont go past stage 5. This time it was pumpkins, his got to the harvest point at the 13th day but mine was still stage 5. (He harvested some at 12th day too and still nothing for me) He doesnt use speed-gro as well.

it doesn't look like you have all items donated and since you were using mods to spawn in the items, better off in the other channel

A full museum should have 7 empty spots and your screenshot shows 8

It can be infuriating at times, especially when a person is spamming bombs in the mines - it can kick and crash the game for everyone, it just takes a little bit more time since the distance is very large - including connecting to a lobby

I'm guessing they were talking about a very late game item which can give a chance at daily iridium, best way to get iridium is probably mining in ||skull cavern|| (spoiler)

Try to time your hits so that you hit the serpent just before he gets to you

Also try to keep serpents above or to your sides if possible, the serpent can hurt you by touching your feet and sword doesn't reach too far past feet.

oh, that'd be different from the one in your game folder i think? you can go to properties in steam iirc and there should be a "go to game folder" option in that menu, find the original game and make a shortcut to it or pin it to your taskbar

You can try forcing the event by doing debug ebi 520702 in the smapi console

edit your save file with notepad or notepad++ and search for "<hasMagnifyingGlass>" and change it to true. save and exit

recommend creating a copy of your save file so if it somehow breaks it you can restore it
