No worries. It works find after the first crash but after restarting the pc it will went through the same cycle

that's one of the "the game won't open" troubleshooting steps even. SDV runs on an older framework. I suggest not deleting Microsoft or Windows programs if you don't know what they do :)

Hey silly question I'm sure. But I'm playing on mobile and got the mobile Smapi and so far it's all been good.

I downloaded an XNB mod and did the whole apk extractor, replace the file and APK sign and install thing. Okay the XNB file was replaced on my base non Smapi game. BUT it wasn't replaced in my SMAPI version... Any suggestions?

@hexed apex I can't personally vouch for this tool since I haven't used it myself, but the last person I helped with switching hosts on a multiplayer save told me that this worked great for them:
There's a script tool that is supposed to easily make the required changes to switch hosts on a save; it's linked in the comments section of this reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/8i5z1j/guide_how_to_change_hosts_of_a_multiplayer_save/
Important: make a complete backup of your save folder before trying anything like this that'll mess with it.

so basically one night i went to sleep, and the game crashed right before it saved. I reloaded the game, and my character save slot was gone. It isn't in the files, and it isnt in steam cloud. its multiplayer, if that helps with anything, and one of my friends did a dupe glitch on it, (chest glitch), so maybe that had something to do with it, because i had the same problem with terraria.

That might be the culprit. If it crashed and corrupted, it might have removed it. Try checking your quarantine folder/list

@sinful sparrow i dont have the game on android, but back when Nintendo switch saves werent encrypted, i tried to edit one from my switch on my phone and nothing was able to open the file because it was so much text, idk if that was just my phone, but yeah... even dedicated xml editors couldnt open it

According to a quick search, single is typically better for gaming. Steam should not let you buy it if you don't meet the specs, but you can also refund the game according to their policy if you find it doesn't work well

No, i have the game already, im planning on setting up a VM with my high-power GPU, and 3 of 4 cores of my CPU for me gaming, and 1 core + integrated graphics for my partner to play SDV

Fair enough. Integrated is usually better than GPU for SDV actually, we have a lot of people with stuttering using GPU. You may also look into the Split Screen co-op mod, might be a simpler plan

hey so i’ve been looking for a solution for a week, i’ve asked reddit i’ve watched many youtube videos, but i got the game a week ago on steam and it doesn’t launch and i was hoping one of you could help bc someone referred me here, i just wanna play the game but it says launching stardew valley and then it just goes away and doesn’t launch, i have reinstalled .net and xna, uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times but it seems like i’m missing files or something cause whenever i type %appdata%/stardewvalley nothing comes up, and when i search for certain folders it just won’t show up, it almost seems like the download is broken and doesn’t get all of the files, if someone could please help

Yup. At first I thought it was a problem using Automate mod so we've tried disabling that. In a previous game where I was using Trapper & Luremaster, I even re-specced to avoid that complicating things. Still didn't make a difference.

Okay, that's what I expected. Couple things - reinstall XNA again, restarting if it doesn't want to go. What antivirus do you have? And do you have anything like Afterburner or Rivatuner installed?

Sometimes it takes several tries, but we don't know why. But that's what the problem is - XNA isn't running/installed. Thankfully not the other issues that are more complicated

Hmm. And SDV (as well as a couple other games) uses an older game engine. It normally installs with first launch, but sometimes it fails. I'll need to do some more digging in my records when I get home tonight. You are trying to install the one linked on the wiki, right?

Hello! Does anyone else have lag issues with playing the co-op farm with 4 ppl? I haven't dealt with this before but its really lagging and causing issues with our gameplay. Also we're all playing on xbox ones & xbox one x.

The lag is probably from one of the players having a slow connection. I don't know that there's much you can do to fix it besides figuring out the source of the slow connection speed and fixing that. (e.g. upgrading internet service or switching networks)

You can first try having only some players connect at a time and see which players have the laggy connection

Then it's up to them to see what they can do about it, I think

#

Are you playing with people very far away? (e.g. around the world versus same continent may make a difference for lag)

Does anyone else have an issue where the icons for the mini jukebox, mini fridge, and workbench don't show up? It's just a blank slot/space aside from the description and being able to use it.
I just can't see them.
Did a fresh install and reinstall. Might have to go through each mod if they could be causing it.

Well now i have another problem 😦 now I try using modded Stardew Valley it wont launch threw steam but im launching it threw steam i also tried using the vortex launcher it just keeps on telling me this error but im online and its being launched threw steam i also tried using the files to launch and my anti-viruses are off

So I figured it out. The PS4s need to be on the same router. Not "Guest" or "5Ghz" the SSID has to be the same thing

There may be someone on in a bit who can answer specifics a little better. If it is a Steam issue, maybe restarting Steam or the computer itself would work.

You can't get a replacement slingshot in vanilla if you lose it. Only mods (or save editing maybe) can help you with that.

Short answer: Click the mouse / controller button on console / tap on mobile, and that starts a minigame where you have to click faster or slower to keep the green bar touching the fish

Excuse me, i have problem connecting multiplayer mode. I don't use any mods. At first we didn't use hamachi and its really hard connect to my host because it always says "connection failed" except a random times i don't know why (connecting feels like a jackpot to me at this time). After i tried hamachi, i can connect seamlessly. But after my host moved to a farther province (still in one country), i can't connect anymore. I did tried to diagnose in hamachi and it says OK. I ping my host via hamachi IP and it shows 500-ish ms which i see it fine because when we connected before using hamachi my ping is 500-ish too in Stardew Valley.

Any help is appreciated, i don't think going to a different province is the issue because i see in #multiplayer-lfg-old seems doesn't have to be in same country.

Hello everyone! I'm in need of some help so here's my situation: I once used SMAPI to play with mods on SDV, then after a while I uninstalled the game and SMAPI. Now I'm trying to play the game once again without mods but the thing is is that steam didn't create an executable file for me to play on/with. I've tried to verify the files through steam but an .exe file still hasn't been created so I can't play the game. Is there any way I can obtain the .exe file ?

No, there are only mods that came with SMAPI; it's otherwise vanilla. The crash also happens without SMAPI, and the reason why SMAPI is there at all is to obtain a crash log.

Okay, game crash, got log. (... It doesn't help that the log has Chinese in it...)

(The Chinese of the first line of the error message reads: "Trying to read or write to protected memory. This usually indicates that other memory is broken.")
Despite SMAPI being installed, the game only ran with the two mods that came with SMAPI (namely save backup and console commands). The crash also happens without SMAPI, and the reason why I installed SMAPI at all is to obtain a crash log.

Excuse me, i have problem connecting multiplayer mode. I don't use any mods. At first we didn't use hamachi and its really hard connect to my host because it always says "connection failed" except a random times i don't know why (connecting feels like a jackpot to me at this time). After i tried hamachi, i can connect seamlessly. But after my host moved to a farther province (still in one country), i can't connect anymore. I did tried to diagnose in hamachi and it says OK. I ping my host via hamachi IP and it shows 500-ish ms which i see it fine because when we connected before using hamachi my ping is 500-ish too in Stardew Valley.

Any help is appreciated, i don't think going to a different province is the issue because i see in #multiplayer-lfg-old seems doesn't have to be in same country.
Okay, after further diagnosing i think it's my windows update fault so that hamachi didn't work properly somehow (due to some of its driver failed). I try to reinstall (which is a bit tricky for hamachi bad uninstaller) and see if its work.

Anyway although it's hamachi problem before, i still have issue that somehow I can't connect to my host without hamachi or anything else. It need trying for 1-2 hours using different method and spam invite until randomly you can pick farmhand. Both connection are good (we're calling through LINE messenger, did spam chatting on Steam, and when we're connected through hamachi it was 500 ms ping which is fine because when we did connected without hamachi it's the same ping). We're using the same ISP. We did follow the troubleshooting step (i forgot the link, it's on wiki) except the extreme method like reinstalling and such because my host didn't like it (which we decided to try Hamachi instead).

On the other hand - if we determined that it doesn't crash in safe mode (which is impossible to make sure of), I don't think I want to keep my computer in safe mode whenever I want to play this game

We did try this before except step 11 because my host is a bit dumb on these thing and step 12 because we didn't use any mod :<, maybe i really need to convince her to do that

In your case, the other steps are more important, but it wouldn't hurt. It's very likely an issue with one of your connections then; have you tried changing who is hosting?

Not a bug, it's the framework the game is built on. Can't handle switching audio devices while the game is running. You can close the game and relaunch with the headphones plugged in though and it'll route the audio to them

On osx, if you switch between a laptop monitor and another monitor (such as when you dock your laptop), Stardew Valley does not resize. So if you go from something bigger to something smaller, such as when you unplug from a dock, it's very difficult to even just quit out.

I'm using smapi right now with sdv on Android - I never bothered playing on my android without smapi+mods - can someone tell me if toolbar not wrapping around the max amount of items on the top of inventory is because of a mod or if that's the way the game is even without smapi? Thanks in advance.

Here works! Unfortunately the answer is no (or if you can, it's very difficult and involves many steps and a jailbroken switch)

Mobile and PC (all platforms) can transfer save files between them, but consoles are out of luck.

No, there's no cross-play for stardew unfortunately. Windows/Mac/Linux/Steam/GOG can all play multiplayer together, but console players can only play with people on the same console as them.

So: your first step, as a precaution: make a copy the entire folder for the old character (e.g. PlayerName_231783261 or whatever), and save this copy somewhere else safe on your computer
(Desktop, Documents... anywhere is fine just not in the save folder lol)

That will be your backup, just in case. We're not doing anything crazy but you should always make a backup before messing with save files

Next step:
You're going to go inside the original PlayerName_231783261 folder. You should see at least 4 files. E.g.
PlayerName_231783261
PlayerName_231783261_old
SaveGameInfo
SaveGameInfo_old

Delete the two files that don't end in _old
And then rename the two other files to remove the _old at the end.

Only happens in dark scenes

Using a 2560x1440p monitor hooked up to my laptop using HDMI

I have ordered a DisplayPort cable which is coming in today, so I can make use of FreeSync on the monitor, maybe that will fix this? Not sure.

One thing to note is that I don't see similar flickering in dark scenes in other games

... ... .. Played a while in safe mode, no crashes yet but I needed to get out of safe mode for other things, then I loaded the game outside of safe mode... and another crash without a traceback. What the hell is with those crashes without a traceback!?

The crashes without records in the log are the worst. I imagine they happen whenever something goes wrong at a level not tracked or accounted for by smapi and/or the game :c

Game recorder is gone, and I'm back

The VPN is required to use Discord, and almost required to use Stardew Valley Wiki (without the VPN, Cloudflare - or whatever company that is, I can't remember - checks me for potential DDoS attacks for EVERY SINGLE page request, and ask me to do a Captcha that is VERY SLOW TO LOAD)

As for safe mode, it completely disables INTERNET CONNECTION altogether (even the "safe mode with internet"; all network devices/connections/whatever appears to be unplugged in the settings screen)

Anyway, that's your next few things to test. You can go down the list and anything that isn't a microsoft service or needed for your machine (drivers, etc), try disabling it temporarily. GeForce can be a little touchy on some machines (the NVidia app), so maybe try that too

(This might have happened if you had another window open in front of stardew... the game still registers clicks from windows in front of it, and you can accidentally change stuff without noticing. It's possible to delete your saves this way, be careful!)

That particular crash was when I opened the fridge.

Actually the sequence of events was:

woke up, and found my house upgrade was done (the first upgrade)
moved the carpet that used to be near where the bed was
opened the fridge, and crash
