I just don't like the cold mechanic in general :x that's why I don't do Ascent 5+ runs very often. Back in the early days when I first started the ascent 5 cold almost made me stop playing the game entirely and my attitude towards it hasn't changed much. It's not difficult it's just annoying and makes things slower

i have a route for tropics: go hard left, climb the brown branches until they take you up more, traverse inward a little and pass an explodey yellow thing, find a short horizontal curved brown branch that leads to a small outcropping below a large outcropping, skirt the outside of the small outcropping, traverse across a longer branch, go to the brown chest on the outermost branch, continue along that branch and jump over a spikey branch, go up right quite a bit then jump over another spikey branch, then it's free from there just don't die to explodey things

Only really viable for a certain range as if it's a small slide you're cancelling you're just burning extra stamina and if it's a high momentum slide you can't really cancel it

So for me the least favorite is a tie between Mesa and Alpines. I like Alpines because it's shorter than Mesa and typically much faster to complete but I hate the blizzards/cold. Mesa is much easier to climb and overall pretty interesting but much longer and can get boring during the final climb (and the dead ends can be annoying).

Favorite biome is hands down Tropics, none of the others come close.

Vines are weird to jump off of, as they don't register that you jumped as much as you just let go of the vine.
A jump from solid ground and headed down will negate a good majority of the fall damage while just walking off will hit you hard.

Random question: Does anyone ever actually use the anti rope gun? I can’t imagine when it would be useful unless it’s the only thing you have. Rope is better for helping people up, and a regular rope gun is better for reaching higher places on your own. And anti rope spool makes a longer anti rope than the gun does, and you can use smaller amounts at a time as needed

Anti rope is great, but anti rope gun is pretty meh. It’s only 7.5 meters of anti rope and it’s single use. And since it has to be attached to ground and it’s hard to control where the top ends up, it ends up only being useful to me if I don’t have another equipment to use instead. Plus unlike anti rope spool, you can’t see where the rope will end up with the blue guide. You just have to shoot and hope it’s a good placement
