I started working on the pzwiki history page a month ago, but its on hold during B42 unstable. There's some screenshots of layout changes
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:History
B42 stable with mp should hit heavy
Yeah then look at the stable release, it's that massive spike π
Incredible, thanks Calvy!
No problem, i did the easy part for you. Combing through that wall of text will be the harder part π
I like a good writing exercise anyways, although several parts might be entire rewrites to bring the wording closer to other articles
Just looked at it and yeah
It's less certain parts and more almost a complete rewrite at this point
And all I did was comb through it
@kind sphinx if you're interested in continuing to write location articles, we have standardized formatting for that. It can be viewed here:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Boilerplate_location
Any questions feel free to ping me.
Will do!
Definitely want to branch out from the location stuff and contribute to the rest of the B42 update project as recommended by Vaileasys too, will probably do some clothing articles once I get bored of location articles
Definitely gonna start with the wizard hat, my beloved
Anyway, December 9, 2021 marks first public mp release and December 20, 2021 is 41.65, first stable b41 version.
I don't think we'll get that huge of spike since that (as we have different demography of peopl waiting), but there will be a spike for sure
Player counts have been approaching that first initial spike since B42 released, and the fact itβs purely SP still brings me hope that we might crack 100k concurrent as a record when MP finally comes out
seeing this number compared to now gives a lot of think. And I always think I was late to the party, mostly sticking to PZ at around time (even if Ibought it earlier I think I started playing at around b39 or so)
actually, wait, it was a little before that
evolved food was when I started being active
so 34.10, but then I took an on-an-off approach
lol, here's me... starting with b41. i missed quite a bit i guess
The game has always been pretty fun but it's not like you were missing much from what I've seen and testing out previous builds
When I first got the game, I played on Build 40 because I didn't know you had to opt in to Build 41
I was really confused on why I couldn't crouch
I remember seeing some Gameplay in 2011 or so. Never got around to try it until B41.
Best decision ever lol
It's come a long way that's for sure
With all the refactoring and changes, I wonder what the oldest still-in-use code?
I know the NPC code is still in there somewhere but it's hasn't been touched since they were removed
probably something of that kind. Some items like Kate's photograph are also from that time i guess
all of these icons were from the tech demo
impressive sprite sheet
and damn if those UI elements aren't persistent idk what is
(old moodles RIP)
welcome to the world new moodles, you shall cause much panic to the playerbase when they're running away from a horde they thought they could take
I'm just glad you can tell what the overloaded icon is now π
yeah for a long time i thought it was brocolli
didn't really think about it too much
I thought it was a hand grasping a basketball
snail. thats a snail, no?
Itβs a man carrying a lot of stuff on his back
But because itβs so small when not blown up like Vaileasys has done, itβs really hard to tell what it is in game so everyone has their own idea on what it was
What have we done π±
My Google News feed is now showing me more news about Louisville and Kentucky as a whole than news from where I live. I think I need to stop my searching on Google maps and Wikipedia for a few days π
the content in the article is pretty in depth but it seems the person keeps forgetting to capitalize words
they also called themselves a βbozoβ in the article for not playing Resident Evil
That may be also a @thin cloud question π€
It says Sunderland in the Brandenburg town trivia and history & facts
But Waverly hills on the map
Rip laptop
Battery died or hardware failure?
Fans died right in the middle of battlefield 5 campaign
They were noisy for a last year, then suddenly became even more since Monday
Then just died on me
I would've looked into it last year
Ive looked into it and there was nothing I could do apart from buying new ones
Ah
Rip fan
It's Sunderland, Waverly is an error
Thanks cool dude
Definitely not very encyclopedic formatting
I have a feeling it might be an irrelevant detail that needs to be removed
anyway I got rid of that sentence
Ye
I'll go through it later, my gf and I are getting ready to go to a hockey game so I'm finishing up the AMZ steel page rq b4 we go
Isn't it crazy that florida has one of the best teams in the NHL? (American (national) hockey league)
I've done a good amount of the grammar and spelling fixes it needs but its still a mess, that's where you come in (I think)
Yeah I'll tackle it once I'm back from the game
bro my city just can't win the cup, the team's literally cursed
Don't tell me you're an oilers fan
My gf fucking HATES the oilers
nah
Ok lol
don't have a favorite team but it sucks to have a pretty meh team be the nearest one to me
Eh I'm not crazy about hockey either but she loves it and ngl it's ok
the cards are cool
no clue what any of the stats on the back of the cards mean but I have a ton for no reason
@flint vapor got this sent by @tender frost : β #1070852229654917180 message βΒ says it's definitely worth putting it to the wiki
its how to properly add weapon parts and not overwrite vanilla scripts
will make all weapon mods compatible
Yea I'm aware of this guide
Not his snippet tho
I need to clean up the various links on Modding page
Bcs it's a mess
But I guess I can link that guide for now yea
Should be Sunderland, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waverly_Hills_Sanatorium is a real place. Pinging @thin cloud for that
The Waverly Hills Sanatorium is a former sanatorium located in the Waverly Hills neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky.
In the early 1900s, Jefferson County was ravaged by an outbreak of tuberculosis β known as the "White Plague" β which prompted the construction of a new hospital. The Sanatorium opened in 1910 as a two-story facility able to acc...
Ye Pat already confirmed, should be Sunderland, Waverley was an error
oh yeah, I see it now π
I always thought it was a brain π
Lesson learned; should've played PZ instead. (Also a reason why in general I don't really think of laptop anymore; Steam Deck fills the niche for me though)
also fan in my thinkpad broke too some time ago, bought the replacement, but turns out I need to tear it apart to change, and I never find time am too lazy to do that.
wdym?
I did not know about that snippet is what I mean
Can be interesting to put it in the Wiki for sure, but it needs a place for that and imo the gun guide from @lament tusk should just be rewritten first, so that snippet has its place
ah ok
anyways it worked
and hopefuly it gets implemented by other gun modders to harmonize all weapon attachments
I mean, at the very least, let's check you wrote that line so that we can get rid of it, then we could all have a good laugh about it π
Dunno why you need to specify Base when referring to lasers, lasers are already based
Also I got off my flight so Iβm gonna push my changes to the Sanitorium page when I have the chance
Ok i have fixed the icons issue and some other bugs. This is an example of how it would look for Base.LeatherStrips @digital helm @languid kayak
(I still have to verify all the recipes are correct and find other bugs)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Calvy/sandbox
I believe we will require a collapse, or possible even start collapsed. I think starting collapsed hurts searchability on page, so a collapse button may work best
Start open also means small tables dont have to be collapsed, while giving the option on articles with huge tables
Also this is a proof of concept for the output based on item id
Looks great. Is this one of the new 'repair' recipes? Replacing fixing. Because this on its own isn't immediately clear what you're making. I assume putting these recipes into a separate "repairing" subsection may be needed? Or am I misinterpreting the recipe?
Which recipe sorry, theres quite a few on the page π
That's weird... There's only one for me π€
Mobile must have it cached
You dont see this?
Not on mobile. I do on desktop though. So must be cached.
But I guess my question still stands for this recipe. It's a maintenance one. Unless this was an early test.
This is one i have to come back to still, ill look into it shortly
If I'm being honest. It looks very complicated, and difficult to follow when there's a lot of tags (dull) and ingredients (one of, each of) But that may just be mobile squishing it all together. And not a whole lot we can do about it without losing info
I think tools being aligned left might help. Like the ingredients
Yep as i thought, it was a bug from yesterday that i've fixed. This is what the recipe looks like now
Ah yeah, that makes more sense
I know, theres so much text
I wanted to make some grey like we used to do, i'm just not sure. Theres so much that is required that feels wrong to leave out
Left align could help
Can make them grey. I added a class for subtle text not long ago. Could use that
I think that will be the last piece
Will seperate the "One of" from other requirements
Much better
A variable, not a class.
So <span style="color:var(--color-pz-subtle)">
I could create a class if you think it's worth it. Don't really want to use variables on pages, in case it needs to change.
Only on an autogenerated template page should be ok
Yeah, really the only reason I'd be ok with it
I'll make a comment on the stylesheet still though
"not long ago"
It was 7th October
Thoughts?
Light mode
Maybe too subtle?
I can add a subtle-2 and make it a bit less subtle
It's not bad, on mine at least
I'm happy then π
Also minor, but missed capitalising the O in one of for the product
Oh yeah i was doing lowercase for all and didnt like it, must have missed that one
This is the fun part of finding all my mistakes π
I'd like to have a page for surfaces eventually π€ somewhere to link to
Yeah have to figure out what is and isnt a surface
Bruh we fucking lost
Yeah the keyword was "of"
lost to detroit, of all cities
Bro their defense was insane
We had 41 shots and just could not get through
mustβve been fun to see each and every miss in person
Lots more workstations added now, i figured out how it looks for them, only issue is it has to be hard coded as crafting isnt fully implemented
So English only right now
Id love to have a desktop pc
Its easy to maintain and overall cheaper than laptop
But laptops have their niche of not being that cumbersome and hard to move to new places with
Even if its something like Alienware
yeah, that's why I mentioned Steam Deck. I used to have Acer netbook for traveling, and experimented with a cheap Windows tablet (these had issues with touch on Linux, but nowadays should be fixed) for traveling, but Deck is powerful enough as a desktop pc on travel, and has a good performance and thermal too.
Also funny how I don't really like playing on controllers, but I find Steam Controller and Deck relatively okay for the job.
Problems with steam deck that its more of a gaming console and a very portable pc
It may be even better for those that tend to travel frequently, but it is not that good when used as a working station
With laptops, you have easy experience with hauling it around during travels
While still having a decent performance compared to desktop in your backpack
yeah, ironically I bought it more as a linux pc though π
Then again, so far I only used it when I was out in my parents mostly.
I cant imagine what its like when you take a desktop pc with you in the luggage
but the sheer fact it only has one port is inconvenient
OK I'm just doing a sanity check on the recipes, checking for any obvious errors. While I do that we should probably discuss how we want to do the roll-out. Should B41 and B42 recipes go side by side, or should B41 recipes be replaced with B42 /sandbox recipes progressively, then when finished I can merge templates and use the bot to remove the /sandbox from the template.
The good thing about this is when the next half of Crafting, and the translations come out I can just update the whole page in one go, then we can look at language pages too.
@languid kayak @digital helm and others.
I know there were some pcs made like that for air traveling, not sure if that's still a popular thing
(but yeah, going out of topic of wiki slightly :P)
We generally go all way b42 for stuff, though replacing it will break oldids even further.
We can indeed go with a /sandbox (or /B42 or whatever) pages route and then replace them with a bot once b42 is out stable.
If anyone is interested, links to every recipe currently
We used to do that with language bar in the past
B42 recipes will have to stay sandbox (kind of like header did) until everything is moved over. No point breaking 15,000 pages while I try roll it out.
But if I replace the current Crafting template with sandbox, it will help track what is b41
btw, great job @proud cobalt and @digital helm btw. I'll be out of the loop for at least a week or so, mostly catching with just Discord, but I already see the great job put into shaping everything π
No way Im taking a desktop pc in a luggage... In our recent family trip two of our suitcases got ripped in half after a small domestic flight. Thankfully we didn't have anything fragile in them
Oh yea
Wiki
@proud cobalt will bots do a second sweep of assigning number ids to pages?
Ive noticed some pages lacked it
So there isn't a way to redirect ti b41 version
If we're happy with that (I'll wait until at least Vail sees it) I will start roll-out from tomorrow. Lost of people begging for recipes, so even though the finishing touches visually might not be done it shouldn't do any harm to start rolling out? I will keep the notices on both so people know
Probably not, could you link an example?
I'd prefer replacing b41 with b42 recipes, less maintenance to do later down the line removing them, just do it now
Definitely will be useful
Let me know if I can be of assistance
Cheers, I'll probably use some bot assistance, but it might turn out to be more manual that expected
Oh I know all about manual
Lol
Speaking of a bot, I'm actually a little surprised we don't have a bot here which can pull wiki information via a command
There was one for the other autogenerated wiki, i forget its name. Undeniable or something? @languid kayak has mentioned it a few times
Well if you need somewhere to run it off of you know where there's space xD
Speaking of I was trying to setup Matrix last month I should really finish that ughhh.. Flees
I think replace all recipes with b42. But keep it in /sandbox for the b41 revisions until it goes to stable, or b42 becomes recognised as the "main" version, much like b41 was when it was still in unstable.
Should this apply to all other changes to templates for charity's sake?
*clarity
templates that contain data, probably. But any that just a new parameter, such as an infobox, there's no point
Okay. Thank you for the clarification.
There aren't many like that though. Recipe is the main one
As in a discord bot? We used to have that as part of the spiffo bot, but the channel ended up just being full of commands
yes, there was one for Undeniable one, @digital helm know even more than I, I only briefly remember it and suggested renaming the channel to _editing as people used to use the channel to ask/checkup about wiki commands instead π
a blast from the past
should the 'Folders Structure' page be renamed to 'File Structure' or something? i've never heard anyone refer to it as 'folder structure' and 'folders' doesn't sound grammatically correct to me? (though i can't name exactly which rule it breaks so maybe it is)
Yeah, file structure sounds better to me
It was created by Aiteron. Pretty sure English isn't their first language
Yea I didn't put too much thought into the page name, just figured I should reuse the page
I'll rename it
They've got some new ways to sort of, hide the commands around into a channel type with bot commands that only you see. No idea how the hell it works or is setup tho!
I don't know, I feel like it's just easier to search the wiki, personally π
earlier today in the modding discord we had someone who had left a long time ago rejoin, use the wiki bot to find a page, and then leave again immediately after
absolutely perplexing
btw @proud cobalt https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Calvy/sandbox/crafting3
@proud cobalt unsure how you're getting the icon, but you should be able to use utility.get_icon(item_id, True, True, True) and it'll return the icon already formatted for the wiki, or as a cycling icon if there are multiple icons for the same id.
lol, just use the wiki π the search works fairly well
ok this is weird
the army is giving the people inside the exclusion zone hallucinogenics
who's to say it isn't just a weaker version of the knox infection?
@digital helm here we have this radio transcript where it apparently looks like the radio host sang the song, can we assume it's a second row like the other radio segments?
Yeah, I'd assume a song comes on
The "person" is only defined by the colour the text that it's displayed as. Which isn't perfect, but most of the time it's used as a different person talking
alright then time to add another row
plot gets thicker
Nothing to see here
something slipped through the static here, whoops
This fella doesn't look happy
horse drawing moment
Yep I know about it, one of the last bugs I have to fix
It's actually the tag template that's broken
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Tag_RipClothingCotton
oh... I'll have to look at that later today
I'll try a manual fix now, and let you know. Will probably need a fix in the parser
Also we have Template:Tag RipClothigCotton Template:Tag RipClothingCoton Template:Tag RipClothingCotton as three seperate templates
They were made with the bot, so likely TIS spelling mistakes
Yeah it was just items being wrapped in [''] i removed manually and it looks fine
Being stored as a list at some point. Might just add isinstance list then icon[0] to the output until I figure out the problem
Also noticed some typos π
I'm actually gonna report these for them
Np
Only other one i found DontInheritConditon
@thin cloud Upper South Radio plays the song "I Swear" twice, however the name of the love interest differs (the CD itself uses "Kelly"), safe to assume it's an oversight?
also, are there any new CDs? I've notice a few songs that don't actually exist as CDs in B41
Possibly. Haven't had a chance to check those
I tried to spawn a few with debug mode but somehow they failed to initialize any sort of content so I ended up with a bunch of cursed unplayable CDs
alright, all the articles for the new radio and TV stations are finished, next up I'll have to look through some of the B41 radio and TV stations to see if they can be formatted the same way as the new stations
I am also inclined to take a week or two off of wiki work because it's exam season right now, gotta grind that instead of transcripts π
I'll just be lurking around for a week or so, so still ping me if you got anything cool/important to share, otherwise I'll be back later
Ok the bot is adding crafting to autogenerated pages, thats easy to do, its the normal pages that will likely need to be done manually
Oh this is gonna be hugely more manual than i thought... Literally every page will need to be done manually to make sure every possible recipe using that item is added including tags
I have no idea how i'm gonna do this
Most likely with a lot of help and breaking up the work
I like that your break is to study for exams
sounds fun. You've been doing a lot, which we all appreciate. Enjoy your studying π
No new CDs or VHSes from what I can see. Most changes are formatting, but there are some like:
- "Nightporter" -> "Nightwatcher"
- exposure survival recipe changes
- people's names
- "I saw the craft, hovering above Spiff's headquarters." -> "I saw the craft. And it was a craft. Solid. It blocked out the stars."
- some CDs were rewritten, such as
CD: Cries of the Damneda Sinsilla CD, but they're still similar
I'll go through them at some point and update. Anyone can compare the files if they'd like. It's just Recorded_Media_EN.txt and use a compare program like Meld (thanks @languid kayak for sharing that one)
Is this not a reference to Brennan Lee Mulligan? @tulip kiln
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Brennan_Movie_Channel#Trivia
Also @serene sage i think added it
I always thought it's just Pat's surname?
I assumed it was a reference to our Pat. Since it's his last name
Could be both. I wonder if @thin cloud wants the credit or keep it a mystery π
I changed it like that https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Comic_Book_(retail)&type=revision&diff=790801&oldid=779021 β I guess it's easier to read?
Also removed that column from https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Comic_Book&type=revision&diff=790803&oldid=788577
I had that originally, but ended up with the 2 columns so it could be sorted better. I'm happy with this though
more relevant for the non-retail one
But I think I'll remove it from that and just keep it for the retail one, in your format. In the script I mean
@hushed bobcat it seems the POI search box sneaked in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Greene's_Ekron.png π
It's safe to assume it's correct btw? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Irvington&curid=40367&diff=779151&oldid=778885 or are we waiting for in-game date?
I think that if there isn't an in-game date then we use the real world date. At least that was the intention when adding that parameter
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irvington,_Kentucky
Although it was later changed to Irvington in 1889
funny how noone noticed that on the main page π https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template%3ANews&action=historysubmit&type=revision&diff=790849&oldid=769479
@digital helm is this good to go? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Body_location/sandbox I think https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Body_location as well?
@proud cobalt @lucid junco What do you think about moving https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:History to simply "PZwiki"? It'd be a page similar to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Undeniable.info or https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Map_Project
Maybe just to "History"
Well, Wikipedia also has an article about itself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia
Wikipedia is a free-content online encyclopedia written and maintained by a community of volunteers, known as Wikipedians, through open collaboration and the wiki software MediaWiki. Wikipedia is the largest and most-read reference work in history, and is consistently ranked among the ten most visited websites; as of December 2024, it was ranked...
Ooh wait
Its a pzwiki history, not pzwiki history project
The name got me confused
yeah π And well, it'd actually be a page about the wiki itself (which in turn includes the history, too)
In that case, yes, we can move/rename it
and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki is free
Happy with that
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:CalvyBot 200k edits crossed btw π
Okay, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki is no longer WIP, but it has stubs. The https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki#Project_leaders needs to be written, I will probably write it later unless someone else want to, however @proud cobalt do you still have plans for more screenshots over time for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki#Community_portal and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki#Templates ? These were having PLACEHOLDER TEXT before β if nothing you started working on, I think we can remove the sections for now? (Can add them as needed later on)
I wonder what the thought process was just sneaking in his name like that
Welcome to my world. What has helped me with large scale manual editing is to create a PasteList in a subpage of my userspace and bookmark it so I can just copy/paste common formatting and other things to make things faster. I also make use of the nowiki tag to allow me to paste raw editing formatting without having to enter the editor
Very helpful for me
@hushed bobcat very impressed with your work on Guns Unlimited. Quick question, are those wiki formatting comments (<!>) still recommended as part of the infobox? If so I'll have to change that, we typically don't use then anymore
I think we can remove. I let it there initially because it helps me organize what was left, but now we can remove it
Yeah some of it can be a bit messy
But when you're like me and do this for a while it just makes sense to you
"damn my friend was talking about wikipedia but idk what that is, better go check wikipedia real quick and see if they have an article on it"
Let me google what google is real quick
Seems so, but I think it's one of the symbols from the game that can be placed on the map? Are these labeled?
they arent sadly, but its in the list
@lucid junco was looking for something else, but found this https://officeoffline.co.uk/index.php?/topic/241586-project-zomboid/ β some old forum that's still alive and indexed in Google from the first days of PZ, just in case something value is there from PZ
A friend of mine is running a bit low on funds and will be releasing his new game early with a sort of minecraft-style update system. Pay now, get free updates for life etc. The game itself is a zombie game focusing on survival: Finding shelter, barricading it to make it safer, using stealth and ...
I think the icons were in alphabetic order? Also, aren't there labeled somewhere in the code or image files maybe?
jeah imma check that
I always wanted to check that back in b41, but never did. I just remember someone renamed some back then proving they were in that order
jeah, seems to be a new one. i guess avocados are important lol
or eggs... lmao
map_egg.png
not my brightest moment, gotta be honest π
@ornate tapir forgot to ask this a long time ago, anyway wanna be the leader of rhte annotated maps subproject? it literally means nothing since you've done a lot of work already, it's just like an official title
oh wow, uh sure i guess ^^
im glad you guys like what i've been doing
It does look like an avocado tho
But I guess they went with a boiled egg for some reason?
Seems like an odd choice to me
I took liberty updating https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki today properly (moved from PZwiki:History earlier today). It took probably more time than it should, but finally can credit your work properly, as I've been piggybacking with some things you originally started β community projects, news (that evolved to monthly summaries now), tasks (priority issues originally) and awards (originally in the form of userboxes). π
@proud cobalt @digital helm there seems to be an issue with formatting for at least this tag https://pzwiki.net/wiki/IsFireFuel_(tag)
@digital helm I don't think we need to pad the SORTKEY in here? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Title Also, what kind of improvements this template needs?
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Magic_words given example even is {{DEFAULTSORT:Smith, John}} and having the DEFAULTSORT not only a letter, would allow better sorting for these.
Magic words are strings of text that MediaWiki associates with a return value or function, such as time, site details, or page names. This page explains only the standard magic words; for a technical reference, see Manual:Magic words .
There are three general types of magic words:
Behavior switches: these are usually written as uppercase words ...
@hushed bobcat there's also a West Main street in Louisville, you only have East Main street marked: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Halwaru/Street_names
That's from the spawning map, though I have no idea where Knox Country Chamber of Commerce is lol
you also had a typo π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Louisville_north_streets.png Romuald, not Romauld π
btw, love how the map is inconsistent in it being title case or sentence case for the legend lol
I see some users have been uploading B42 image as a separate version, are we gonna keep it that way? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Abandoned_town&curid=23821&diff=783339&oldid=653239
I remember we talked about it and I think @naive imp said that it'd be best to replace the image? (though it will replace the oldid version as well).
I think it's best to upload a new image version, but a lot of these new users likely don't know that function
It's ok it will do for now
We can go back and fix it later
I'm more concerned about the new towns for now
Go back over everything else once that's done
Maybe we should update https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Deprecated to stretch to images too and mark all the B41 images ones so they can be removed in bulk later on? That or mark them with {{Delete}}, but it'll clutter https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_requested_for_deletion and someone might think they are ready to remove already.
Thoughb about {{Archive}} and {{Outdated}} too, but these are already full so it'd be hard to track these
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Abandonedtown.png β old image to eventually remove
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Abandoned_Town_B42.png β new image
So far I slapped delete for the old version.
I also updated https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Abandoned_town a little, but it needs some proofreading still
Yeah, I've deleted them. Just didn't get around to it yet
A bit of fun. He also has a comic book named after him
Pretty sad to go back and read forum posts during that time. To think PZ could've died before it even started
Read about and download mods for Project Zomboid. Learn how to make your own mods. The best resource for guides and tutorials
Was this an official site?
I've clarified community projects a bit. I completely forgot the original idea was Connall's, I just remember referring a lot to how Wikipedia did it.
nah
I'm sure there was a reason, but I don't remember. Should be good to remove it. The doc formatting needed to be finished, which I'll do now.
I've added the functionality to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Deprecated it'll automatically add it to the correct category based on the namespace. The only change on the user end is adding the namespace to the new page. E.g. {{Deprecated|Template:Infobox}} instead of {{Deprecated|Infobox}}
Template = Category:Deprecated templates
File = Category:Deprecated images
Default = Category:Deprecated pages
I haven't created the new categories yet
I've reorganised file naming conventions in the style guide, so hopefully it's a little easier to follow, particularly the item models @languid kayak .
I also added a naming convention for "Body" models, which is just characters, animals, and 'mannequin'-like models. I've said to have these with the _Body suffix, as _Model could've conflicted with item models. These models and textures are stored in a folder called "body", so I went with that. I also considered _Entity and _Living, but entity is now used for functional tiles and living isn't fitting for things like mannequins and corpses.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Style_guide#Naming_conventions
Also, unsure about vehicle models. We don't have any yet, but I said to just name them the texture name, for now. But may need to add a suffix to differentiate between a screenshot and a model, as some are just LivestockTrailer.png while others are vehicle_moderncarlights_westpoint.png
Found the problem, which I've fixed. Surprised this has gone unnoticed for this long
That, or reassuring they never game up. What doesn't kills you make you stronger, huh?
The unofficial PZ Mod Repository
So I'd say no π
Yeah, I wasn't sure who did the original project, but seems it was you back in June 2018 π Great minds think alike π
Maybe just make one category for it? No point splitting it IMO, similar how https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_requested_for_deletion is not split either
Files are already well separated anyway, and so are categories (not sure deprecated works with categories yet?), and templates/files shouldn't be that hard to distinguish either
deprecated should work for categories
good point
Most of the stuff I did back then was building off of what other people had started. Like the header, projects, and crafting template. Even the old T template was based off of the DayZ wiki
Thanks for fixing a date too π https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=PZwiki&diff=791091&oldid=791089 must've been copypasta
This template is intended for use on non-English pages. Any use of this template on an English article is generally considered a misuse, with very few exceptions reviewed and approved by an administrator.
What's wrong with using it on English though for things like forcing a lowercase name? Extra sortkey?
Because it changes the display name, which can create a lot of confusion. It's better to just move it imo. For things like lowercase or style I figured just using DisplayTitle would be better
Happy to modify the wording though, to say that it's discouraged, instead of a misuse
I changed it like that https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template%3ATitle&type=revision&diff=791147&oldid=791095 β should be clear what to do
@hushed bobcat for road lengths, you just count tiles? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Kentucky_79
and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Kentucky_44_logo.png β is it going to be used for anything?
Also @hushed bobcat I changed the link in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Halwaru/Street_names#Irvington to Kentucky 477 β not sure we want a page for such a small road, but in case we do https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Kentucky_supplemental_roads_and_rural_secondary_highways_(400β499)#KY_477
Kentucky supplemental roads and rural secondary highways are the lesser two of the four functional classes of highways constructed and maintained by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the state-level agency that constructs and maintains highways in Kentucky. The agency splits its inventory of state highway mileage into four categories:

https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Kentucky_60_logo.png seems not to exist on Wikipedia, I assume you made it yourself then? IRL there's just this instead: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_60_in_Kentucky
U.S. Route 60 (US 60) is a major U.S. Highway in the American state of Kentucky. In the early days of the U.S. Highway System, US 60 was originally to be numbered as US 62. Following extensive lobbying and complaints filed by Kentucky governor William J. Fields to the American Association of State Highway Officials, the route was re-designated a...
@digital helm it seems that the category names in the variants in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Book#Subjects and sections collapsable https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Book#Titles are not uniform. Should these be adjusted?
Examples:
Adventure non-fiction/Adventure (non-fiction)Bible/The Bible
Some do not correspond each other/pages as well, like
General (fiction) while in the page everything's crapped into one page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Book_(fiction)
and in the page itself it's the code in CamelCase instead GeneralFiction
I think further splitting fiction would be better for linking in places like https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Pleistocene_Land&diff=791243&oldid=791241 for example?
I guess it's finally time to remove https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Modded_armor and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Modded_weapons
Was mostly work by https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:Contributions/Sirkular
Posting the script from talk page just in case too, in case anyone would need it:
If you want to pull fresh data to update the table, I'm providing the JavaScript script I wrote for it. Run it via Node in the folder with the item definitions, i.e. <code>steamapps\workshop\content\108600\2460154811\mods\Brita's Armor Pack\media\scripts\clothing</code> then copy the output over to the source here.
I can't post it directly: https://gist.github.com/Faalagorn/b24ec6573de665628460dadf3ccb2c94
@flint vapor is https://pzwiki.net/wiki/IsoZombie Java object as per category or Java event as per navbox?
Java object
So should be Navbox java objects?
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Water_Dish&curid=23323&diff=786149&oldid=771803 another such one; is there more of them?
and CalvyBot broke it π https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Cologne&diff=next&oldid=767853
I guess? The Subjects list and the Titles section headings were done at different times, so just an oversight. They were also done manually.
The script outputs it like this https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Book_(fiction)&oldid=783073 so I had to manually change the section headings (which I missed here). So "Bible" is just one of those subjects. It can be updated to "The Bible", but just "Bible" is technically the subject, just as ClassicFiction" is. But for readers, I think they should be cleaned up, which I can do.
Example of how bible is in the game's files
SpecialLootSpawns.BookTitles.Bible = {
"TheBible",
}
Probably. Should be updated when Calvy runs the updater script for the bot next.
Yeah
The items are based on the item IDs. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Literature#Leisure
sections shouldn't be CamelCase btw. That was just a mistake
I'm happy to remove it π«‘
already removed π
@languid kayak for books, also note the same title can be used for multiple book item IDs, which makes it harder to figure out the best way to link to it. I just had all the titles redirect to "Book (disambiguation)" for this reason https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title="Pleistocene_Land",_by_Terry_Ashe&redirect=no
We could do something like the VHSes and CDs, since they also use the same ID, but they at least have transcripts. The book pages would just have the title, and probably break some of bot automation, if we included at item ID in the infobox.
probably best to link to the normal "Book" page, since they have all subjects/books (as far as I can tell)
btw @proud cobalt and pinging @digital helm too, I've been thinking that for the future, it might be better not to rely on autogenerated ==See also== section? It's often widely inaccurate to the point that it's often misleading. I've been correcting these for autogenerated pages like that https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Entrenching_Tool&type=revision&diff=791399&oldid=786697 (also better to have 1-2 accurate once than three forced for a page), thoughts?
Also, I remember we had discussion about {{Navbox}}es belonging to ==See also== or not. The current issue is that navboxes collapse when the last section (so either references or see also) are collapsed; not sure it's something we want (can?) do something about?
Also, should maybe shovels be split?
Yeah next patch
From memory, I think the idea was that they should be updated to relevant pages when confirming the page content. I have no problem with 1-2. I think 3 was just a nice number, not too many or too few.
Don't think we can do anything about that, unless we add another section for it.
I was wonder, for future items maybe it'd be better to just mark it in a similar way we do in Usage, prompting editors to use it? Currently I realized that while a lot of folks update the usage, no one really notices that ==See also== may not be relevant.
I even thought of marking them as {{Stub|section=true}}, but that'd inflate the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Stub_articles needlessly
I also think there was a weight algorithm, to find the best fit. I did a similar thing with fluids, based on that. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Beer_(fluid)#See_also
(will also have to fix that icon in the infobox π )
Happy to remove them from the script, all they do is slow it down trying to look for similar named items. That's why you get shovel twice, because of shovel and shovel2 both have the name shovel. It also compares Infobox stat's like category and tags and returns a score of weighted similarity, then picks the top three.
I think navboxes should belong to see also, but conecsus was that they don't.
On this topic, should we swap the order of icon and models so search results show icons? I find models are worse as a preview. Afaik it picks the first image on the page?
Faster script is another added benefit π
I assumed models are fine, but maybe icons would indeed be better as that's what users see the most playing the game? @digital helm?
The extension has its own weight algorithm. Images less than 119 pixels are negatively weighted. We could make it not use the model, to essentially force the icon. https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:PageImages
We can also modify this algorithm, but it'd need to be done by Kirrus.
Personally, I don't think it's that much of a problem, more annoying on discord, than anything. But I'm happy to change it if we want
The PageImages extension collects information about images used on a page.
It aims to return the single most appropriate thumbnail associated with an article.
PageImages also provides OpenGraph protocol metadata for articles on the wiki for 3rd parties like Facebook to extract.
if you blacklist the model, won't images from gallery be used then?
if present?
it just depends on the algorithm. I'm not entirely sure how it exactly works. But images at the top of the page get a higher weight
and images in the gallery less than 100px are disregarded
The PageImages extension collects information about images used on a page.
It aims to return the single most appropriate thumbnail associated with an article.
PageImages also provides OpenGraph protocol metadata for articles on the wiki for 3rd parties like Facebook to extract.
If no suitable image is found or all the images score badly (i.e., have a negative score), the page will not have any images.
That might be the case for gallery images?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Irvington_Fire_Department β this one technically doesn't have flier, so name isn't confirmed.
Are we assuming it's a proper noun similar how https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Rosewood_Fire_Department and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Louisville_Fire_Department were confirmed with the respective fliers?
oh, actually someone did notice that too π https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Talk:Project_Zomboid_Wiki&diff=788523&oldid=546463
Another one in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/IsMemento_(tag)
Also, isn't it the new tag? Why the version is 41.78.16 then?
seems the script wasn't updated then π
seems to be the case for all the tags: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_41.78.16
not sure why it is self-adding itself as outdated π€ https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Outdated/pt
Something's wrong with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Language_policy/pt#Todos_os_idiomas_suportados as well
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Images/pt&redirect=no
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Languages/pt&redirect=no
are these the proper way to do that? Do we want to even have Images for languages at all? Currently all images, no matter the language, are in the main category anyway.
Same with languages
huh seems https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Animal/zh-hans is not a translation, but more like a page with the new info
What kind of bug this edit supposedly fixed? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Construction_hp&curid=37489&diff=788781&oldid=786511
oh wait, it's right beside the note Calvy added, so probably some newline issues
@digital helm are we wanting to have it autogenerated by a chance? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Fluid_container&curid=131427&diff=788553&oldid=788539
Also, shouldn't it be "Encumbrance" and not "weight"? Might as well bump to 42.0.2 if nothing changed.
See also at its finest π
I think pretty much every town fire station is also a department of that town
Same applies to police station
all the Easter eggs π
is Leo Ivanov a reference to someone from the team too btw? We have Ivanov golf clubs, but not sure if it was reference to someone?
huh, actually it is. Pinging @tulip kiln as we didn't get it https://x.com/theindiestone/status/670200129622777856
Holy Moly. Someone did a Project Zomboid Hitler subtitle rant. Today is a truly great day. https://t.co/foziOFNMg6
and the references are from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/National_Sports_TV#Transcript
Added as https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Easter_eggs&type=revision&diff=791513&oldid=790927 but feel free to clean up
Wow, awesome! I appreciate the credit, even if my initiatives were more fulfilled by others. Itβs funny thinking back to that time and trying to encourage contributions.
okay, I assume there's no more ||secret dialogues|| added in Build 42? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Automated_Emergency_Broadcast_System&diff=791545&oldid=791541
Agreed
I think it's better in that case to move it to "Irvington fire station" for now
Or even remove the page since it's an unnamed location
BTW echo creek almost done, just gotta clean up a few things and then flesh out the town page itself
Gotta work tho, will finish it once I get home
Thought about it too, though since other deparments got named, I wonder if that would warrant an exception here π€
Should I add the hosts from KPATV to the list in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Television ?
If I'm not mistaken this page only list the shows names, not the hosts names?
When I first added the new B42 channels I was told to include the host names, and someone added/edited the host names for other channels into the list after me
Yes, I was using the miles provided in the map, then summing then as the road goes
@digital helm I believe these are good to be removed now? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Protection_icons
Also I think these should be changed a bit, it looks as if the people's names were the names of the shows the channels were hosting
oh I'm stupid, I never noticed the spawn maps have numbers over the roads π
I think it's because the show is just this person doing the field wrok
Same boat. The only existing reference right now is the scrapyard place, so not sure if it worth creating a page or not. And to be honest, given that there is even inconsistences with the other roads numbers, I'm kind of wayting too see if those woulnd't all end up being renamed
No. I incorrectly upload the 44 before the 144 at that time I forgot to mark it as ready to delete. It will not be used and is safe to π₯
Hmmmmmm, doesn't that mean we could/should change the header to "Shows & Hosts"
There's more than enough space for it
I'm indifferent tbf π€ @serene sage done a great job updating all the TV and shows updates and is the best person to ask a project leader though
Was thinking the same, very important locations for sure
@proud cobalt I'm redirecting duplicate icons now (there's surprisingly many icons like that shipped in the game), but encountered https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:SpearHead_Forged_02_(2).png which I'm removing now βΒ I assume it's an error on your side or is it actually shipped in the game?
Humm, so it's a dev typo, not mine π
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Flyer_MusicFest.png
haha, indeed @thin cloud https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Romuald_Dron_Memorial_Park
btw @naive imp I've been thinking, should Louisville Music Festival be its own article? Currently it's all in Romuald Dron Memorial Park
Yeah it should, it's even marked as its own location in the map project
And I will update the Louisville street names page later, I think we got most of the current references (and their clashes), still looking to check if I can identify where is the Chamber of Commerce so I can locate West Main St.
Makes sense, though in general keep in mind that the map project is all community based the same as wiki, though often getting less attention to old POIS. Some errors stem from it too (like Molan's or Hair Genesis)
I thought it might be located on Orio's building, but maybe that's bad thinking
You can pay attention to room names, though I doubt any would sched a clue
(or zombie spawns)
Speaking of, how useless would it be if I listed every single random little mall/generic shop in the wiki or map project
I remember having such discussion for Louisville a little earlier, and IIRC the conclusion was to avoid the unnamed shops, as they added clutter. Pinging @naive imp and @proud cobalt for that though.
I might make a map project account just to put every (named) shop in malls etc. on the map
It bugs me to see like a quarter of each mall mapped out
Honestly that makes me wonder why so many already exciting businesses werent used π€
The map could have a Maps Unlimited logo on its side somewhere
I've now come to the realization that I have no clue how to make a POI manager account
damn
Nevermind, I got an account lmao
45k edits π
@hushed bobcat Seems you put Valley Station by accident to Louisville π
Also, I think the page's valuable enough to be moved to the main space if you want?
Not exactly. The fliers there mention is as Louisville π¬
(The taco one)
Bearcamp road (cross mall) is on valley station, but the fliers are marking it as Louisville. Maybe it's an incorporate area?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Flyer_TacoDelPancho.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Pile_O_Crepe_Crossroads_Flier.png
ah, indeed lol
But I can keep Valley Station as a separated thing since we always mapped Valley Station as a separated place
is Valley Station geographically part of LV btw? IRL?
@digital helm is https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Page_version/sandbox good to be removed as well?
2003, so after game takes place
exacly
Btw, I'm trying to map the louisville suburbs and define the boudaries of each (using the spawing map). Do you guys believe that there are more areas that just didn't hit the map, or those should be the ones? Because if the spawning map contains all suburbs already, we will need to be "creative" on how to expand those boundaries to make those cover everything
I think the stuff north of the southern red square should also be suburbs
Yeah, but would it be Wyandotte or Parkwood?
Seeing how the text is aligned, I'm thinking Parkwood
There's also a road leading directly from Parkwood into the unnamed area
Yeah, interesting toughs
Another inconsistence (not sure if discussed already) is that the game mentions the Wellington Heights Park (where the Wellington Heights Golf Club is located), but the spawning map shows it as Iroquois Park (which is a IRL park btw)
I went back to that, and added that as a repeatable bot task if someone want to do that, pinging @proud cobalt for that. Should pretty much clear https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WantedCategories as I should have fixed all the non-language ones except for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Autogenerated_articles_(B41_Tiles) (which might as well be created and added to site mainteneance; tiles could be lowercase but well) and did few language ones by hand.
Might be renamed due to copyright
pinging @lucid junco and @naive imp for that, interesting
One think I'd love to do at one point is renaming https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Lua_Events, especially as you worked it with Jvla on creating the remaining ones, so would be nice to have it done properly as they are up to date π Might be an easy bot task@proud cobalt
Lua Events β Lua events
Current Lua Events β Current Lua events
Obsolete Lua Eventsβ βΒ Obsolete Lua eventsβ
(other pages were renamed to follow the style guide already)
While at it, I think that the events themselves should be either Current/Obsolete and not belong to the genercal category. Also pinging @flint vapor for that.
Sure yea
That has been a recurring issue
Yeah I agree for the current and obsolete, I wasn't sure why that was the case, figured I'd leave it in
I can regenerate the pages with the updated categories
Also, how can I follow in my watchlist every pages in the modding category ?
Bcs there's a lot of pages that I can't easily follow modifications
The categories at the bottom should pretty much removed, as header already categorizes these pages. Pinging @proud cobalt too
I'm not using the watchlist myself, but if you get a list of the pages, you can edit your watchlist here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:EditWatchlist/raw
I wanted to start using it more, but I pretty much patrol the recent changes already so it's doubling for the same purpose π
Hmm
Alright I'll do that
The resulting pages would look like that https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=AcceptedFactionInvite&type=revision&diff=791907&oldid=788201
and would be nice to create navbox for it while at it π
All could be done with a bot, but I'm too lazy stupid for that π
I prepared the categories in advance btw. Seems the obsolete lua events were done by a previous script and they lack header at all: https://github.com/quarantin/pzwiki β last update was 4 years ago
Since they lack header, the three ended up in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:DeadendPages because of that
Yea figured it out
Yeah it's fixed on my end. I just need to set up an updater script to also add any new items to the existing tags
i honestly question the value of even having obsolete event pages
they obviously don't have any relevance to current modders and they don't have historical value since they aren't based on any historical data, just names left in the files (and i don't think a b40 etc modding community even exists)
for scripts you can still encounter some I think(?) β or at least are for fallback in case someone loads parts converted from an an old mod, but if they serve no purpose for events (are these even in code anymore?) then something I thought of too
if you'd get rid of Current and Obsolete separation, then these subcategories are not needed at all
yeah, my data does keep them because it can cause false warnings since they technically 'exist' they just aren't called, but on the wiki i don't think they're needed
I saw that. I was going to add the extra column to the script, as I'll be replacing the entire table each update
i suppose the newer ones are of value since they're obviously events for features we don't have yet rather than removed events
for example the new unused events reveal a crazy amount of new multiplayer features they haven't announced
maybe they should just be listed on a page somewhere? we haven't actually collected data beyond their names anyway
Did we discuss this one before? I think of it as the location being Romuald Dron Memorial Park, and the music festival is an event at that location. So I think the music festival should redirect to the location, ideally to a section.
Good to go
And these? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Protection_icons (category and all the icons)
Prior to b42 we said the boundary for Louisville was when the radio cut out, or the border. Pretty sure the radio scripts refer to the border as being south of Louisville.
If fliers refer to it as Louisville, we may need to rethink it? @lucid junco I think did a lot of work here
Yeah. we have the new ones. So they won't be needed
@proud cobalt new pages for events
How could I get a list of all the pages to add to my watchlist ?
you can copy it to your text editor, e.g., copying everything from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Modding
Can't do that explicitly, best you can do is that, paste all the pages from the category to your watchlist (thank gods we have good categorization!)
So no way for me to follow new pages getting created in the category then ?
nope
For existing pages, you can do that. For new, your best bet is setting some filters for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:RecentChanges
not ideal, but you can narrow that down
Actually, you can watch pages not on your watchlist and check the page creations
Thought on that @flint vapor btw? Do we want to remove them?
I don't see much use to the obsolete events yeah
They can be easily ignored in my formating, since I handle obsolete events differently than current events, so that's no problem on that part
Tho
There could be a use, which is to keep track of what event got removed
For this for example
I'd like to probably rename it in the future to something like patch note changes to events or some shit
And have a removed events list as well as new events etc
This won't be done for every patch, if there aren't any changes
And I didn't bother to set it up that way already since no events got removed
However, maybe the way with obsolete events would be to have a part "See instead: [[new event]]"
For example
For each obsolete link to an event which replace them
I see it more as "what changed" to having to keep them and what they did, instead of an historical value I guess
Currently, the obsoletes were basically forgotten
for most of the current obsolete ones we don't even know what they used to do
Can keep them, won't hurt. Though they at least will have to get new header treatment. I can do that manually, there's not much of them. I suppose the repo from Co is no longer relevant though? Each of them has this on the top:

oh wait, so keep or remove?
I already generate the obsolete events pages
Obsolete can be removed yea
ah, so waiting for Calvy to act?
I'm fine with it
I can regenerate with a different format if you want
These are the formatings of each event pages
Wait, now I'm confused π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Obsolete_Lua_Events β any of these 50 are in your scripts?
Probably not all no
I don't remember having 50 of them
That's all the ones I have
I'll probably wait till Calvy comes to see
oh also a few of these aren't even events lol
i'm guessing the original list was made by just greping the source code for 'addEvent()' because the method to add a hook is also called for that for some reason
The original were done by Aiteron if my memory serves right
back before he was hired by TIS
my data stores hooks separately so doggy's generated files wouldn't have them unless he specifically accounted for them
oh wait nvm, no, these were by Co, we have comments after all π
I didn't use hooks
I specifically only took the events
Yeah I only took from the events list
tbh
it would take more effort to make good hook pages than it would ever be helpful to anyone
they're genuinely near useless and for the mods that can benefit from them, you need to do a large scale analysis of what it actually does beyond what can be summarised on a wiki page
Yea
That's why I didn't make the pages lol
Tho I still think explaining what they are would be good
Okay, I actually went through the category and changed them all to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Autogenerated_articles_(B41)
The highlighted 5 pages were the ones in the category before, the rest are tiles, just in case someone wonders
Doing some housekeeping, found https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Rosewood_GigaMart.png βΒ seems to be https://b42map.com/?8135x11480 β I think we can confirm it's not GigaMart? Pinging @tulip kiln as the original uploader and @naive imp
it seems you forgot to cut the buttons out @naive imp π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Club_Int1.png
At the time I just figured cause the layout looks super similar to other giga marts, a way to check could be going there and seeing if the local zombie population has any giga marts employee zombies
seems not sadly, I checked both the rooms and zombie spawns
btw, for Crossroads mall we have both https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Crossroads_mall.png and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:CrossroadsMallFront.png βΒ I wanted to use the latter, as we use the vignette on regions, but we don't seem to use vignette for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/The_Grand_Ohio_Mall
in case of GOM it's whole mall, so I guess the same should be done for Crossroads?
Ahh ok, that fine then dont bother with it
Gets output by tilezed
The malls become far too crowded with more added
Taking a bit of a break right now, but it's in tasks so i should get to it at some point
Bot cant rename so it can only copy the contents to a new page and add a deletion notice, which is the same amount of work as moving pages manually
rename isn't really needed, and I think @flint vapor already sent the files (didn't look at the content, but I think they should suffice)
They are referenced in the item history tables
So would be redlinks if removed
Wait this might be for script events, i might be confused
i'm talking about the lua events modders use to trigger code
oh are you talking about stories?
Nah i was talking about these, but theyre not lua theyre script parameters, i just woke up π
Going up now eta 40 minutes
There are https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Evergreen_Hill and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Leafhill_Heights too but not sure they'd fill the niche
Yeah that's an earlier edit from when I wasn't as good
I'll get on top of it tonight after work
Almost out got an hour to go
I have done so many oil changes Holy shit
@flint vapor seems it's 10 left; you want to handpick them? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Lua_Events&redirect=no
I still think valley station is a separate thing
There is a pile o crepe help wanted ad for the one near Crossroads
And it has Louisville printed in address
That may be something we should ask Pat about
@thin cloud we're trying to make sense of where the boundary for Louisville is. We previously defined it by the fenced border and where the radio would cut out, also because there's radio transcripts and now newspaper snippets referring to the blockade as being south of Louisville.
But these fliers refer to the Crossroads Mall area as being part of Louisville.
Is this a mistake, or should we be updating Louisville to include Valley Station and the Crossroads Mall? Maybe down to Salt River?
Using the vignette overlay isn't really relevant anymore. It was used to simulate the thumb images for the spawn locations. But that's no longer a thing. Should we just stick with the clean images now?
Especially as Street names were done without throughout research, If not those pesky wiki editors finding these inconsistencies π
Honestly didn't notice that taco was on the same street
I think so, I guess this will go then, and the entrance one will stay until someone does the whole mall's overview
The taco one is inside the crossroads mall. So that address is for the mall itself
@flat sun these current events aren't a thing ?
I just realized we might miss another reference too https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Orio_Office_Place for Ayrton Orio https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/profile/29955-ayrton-orio
pinging @tulip kiln for that β will add later unless you or someone else want to do it first π
so far added it to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Orio_Office_Place
It's more the "Louisville Area" the mall is in, as it's closest to there, the military's border isn't going to follow an exact "county" or "area" border anyway
Thanks! @naive imp @lucid junco do with that what you will π
@languid kayak I've updated the book categories. And I'm about to start the magazines. Do you think Catalog should be included? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Catalog
Eh, the shops in malls are generally pretty big and most are unnamed anyway, so it wouldn't crowd up at all imo
When zoomed in its OK, that's why I made the POIs only appear after zooming in on B42map
Exactly!
Yeah I just don't want to map the malls on B42map π
It's not as easy as the official map
I mean I'm up for it lmao
That would require giving you access to the server
Like I said not as easy as the official map
Just gonna leave that open
I still think we should just scrap pois from wiki and parse them to map pois periodically π€
And that would require some sort of categorization to prevent every single poi to enter the map
They could, but appear just on certain zoom levels β though that still would require marking them somehow π
As in included the same category as regular magazines? Are hottiez and comic books there? Seems catalog is the same case here?
I'll probably take a deeper look at what you do, just not sure if today, then I want to deep dive into literature items even if just to compare them to the location names
Put it in the Magazines category I mean. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Magazines
HottieZ is already in there. I didn't think comic books would go there, but idk.
So far it's just items that start with Magazine
(excluding recipe magazines)
I think Magazines, Comic Books and Hottiez zare funcionally similar? As in reducing moodles right?
And currently they all disappear after reading, right?
no more disappearing
They can be reread after some time. I forget how long, but it's a long time. It's based on the title, rather than the item id
If we're talking functionally the same though, books are also functionally the same
oh nice, that I wasn't sure π So there's no more disappearing literatures yet?
I think not at all. Same with photos, newspapers, etc.
but newspapers and fliers don't affect moodles I think? Or do they?
This doesn't make any sense to me. It's closer to valley Station than anything in Louisville. How would that make the mall part of Louisville but not the rest of Valley Station?
@thin cloud
@languid kayak could you explain what oldid is in the page version please ?
Hey @proud cobalt , it looks like the stone chisel recipe is kind of duplicated
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Stone_Chisel
It shows that I need a sharp flint + 2 sharp flints, then I need a hammer and another hammer π
they exist, but these names are typoed
old version of the page, we're using them to link to the last 41.78.16 version until b42 goes out of unstable
Anyway, I removed the old categories. Feel free to mark pages to removal if need be, else feel free to update them by hand, as it's only 10 π
I guess this should be renamed to energy sources or something like that? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Crafting_icons pinging @digital helm and @proud cobalt for those
@digital helm I've been doing some image housekeeping, it seems we don't need those anymore? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:UI_icons β we still have the original moodles/icons uploaded elsewhere
huh, I just realized there's two different maps of Knox County:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Knox_County_0.1.5.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Carte_Knox_County_3D.jpg
That's right
Maybe just "Energy icons". There's only 4, I think
Pretty sure they don't. I suspect the old newspaper will be changed at some point so that it does. Right now it can't be read iirc
I think one is the remastered one for the challenge and other is original
They look different
I think so, yeah, though I never really compared both.
If they are different, then it's worth knowing. More project history thingy but stull
The one I uploaded was the remake. I suspect the original one was of the original map since it was 2012.
Probably not soon
Looks like the recipe is half commented out, ill fix that

@languid kayak Tell me if you want to make changes otherwise they will get overwritten by the script
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Recipe_list/sandbox&diff=791745&oldid=789315
Fixed
wanted https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:UncategorizedTemplates to be clear, but other than that, it's not that important I guess
but you can add that to the script if you want π
I've added it to the script
I guess best to remove it then? Or is there a value keeping it just in case we want to document this location @naive imp? (though at that point both the name and image would have to be outdated, the file name may be confusing for people stumbling upon it) βΒ speaking about https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Rosewood_GigaMart.png just in case it isn't clear for those wondering
Do we know what locations is this? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Bens_cabin_cabin_ingame.png https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:BensCabin_Interior.png
Muld, Doe Valley and West Point ones looks a little different? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Ben's_Cabin
Also the interior screenshot is having no trees around
(if threes are something that can be used to judge)
Other than that, the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Location_images should be all categorized. Took a while, phew! Pinging @naive imp for that. Next will be removing some unused files from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:UnusedFiles β originally started as #pzwiki_editing message (some are gone though), but that's for later π΄
Wtf is a "Bulletin County"? Is it meaning Bullitt County?
But regardless, that car is absolutely fire
thatβs where they invented bulletin boards
Either or it actually is Bullitt County but the guys painting the cruisers misread the name and they couldn't afford to fix it.
yello is there anything i can help with i'm a mod on a couple of fandom wikis so i kinda know some code
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Build_42_Update This page shows what tasks are incomplete, quite a lot to do cause of B42 unstable release
thank you!!
No worries, if you need help with anything, best guy to ask is probably @languid kayak
Plenty of other people here to help though
Sorry for late reply, yeah if nobody's added it yet, I'll put it in the page in a couple of hours when I get to my computer
That or just ask around, depending on timezone there should be someone to respond π
For style guide see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Style_guide β there's also community portal with guides to everything needed for editing https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Community_portal
I did not, I also added this https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=J._Tinsley_Elementary_School&type=revision&diff=793573&oldid=527191
I was translating this page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Style_guide/pt, I initially made an identical copy of the content in English and then started translating from there. But it turns out that for some reason, although in the source code the content is present in full, visually part of the content is not displayed
So something's missing? Might be something simple like mistakenly unclosed tag/typo. What part is missing?
I already found the reason, I missed closing with }} part of it, thank you
that's usually the case :D. We should get a new editor when mediawili lets releases eventually, so these might be easier to find hopefully π€
Regarding this part of spelling variants between language variants. Considering that there is a separate version for the Portugal variant and another for Brazil, unlike the British and American. What should be the approach? Redirect from Portugal to Brazil? Redirect to correct spelling in respective variant?
There's no British/American yet, but if it will change in the game, we can do two versions too.
The current style guide matches a response we got from the devs, but currently game is mixing both kinda.
So yeah, for Portuguese and Brazilian they should technically be separate based on the two (separate) translations that used to ship with the game, though not sure how that will move forward after external studio for translations was hired.
So we'll see I guess
So if I understand correctly, if a user searches for an item name, within the Portuguese version of Portugal of the wiki, that corresponds to a name that only exists in the Portuguese version of Brazil.
The redirect must be to "item name"/pt-br and not "item name in Portugal variant"/pt
"item name in PTBR"/pt -> "item name in PT"/pt
vs
"item name in PTBR"/pt -> "item name in PTBR"/pt-br
I updated main page with 42.1.0 as per #patchnotes the previous ones we called "Hotfix", but since it's bumping .0.x to .1.x is it still a hotfix or maybe upddate? So far I called it "build"
First one is the remastered for You Have One Day, second is the OG
I think the middle number in 42.x.x is a minor version (update) and the last number is the patch
But hot to name them?
- Build 42.0.0
- Hotfix 42.0.1
- Update (Patch?) 42.1.0?
Build 42
Update 42.1.0
Patch/Hotfix 42.0.2 (interchangeable)
Does anyone knows from where the effect information about traits are coming from? Getting the Adrenaline Junkie as a sample, the description says "add flat .20 or .25 to character speed". I'm assuming this comes from the code itself, and the curios me start to look deeper, but what I'm finding is close to what was stated on wiki on 2021: it adds a percentage based on the panic level, with initial values close to 10% π
i think all the countys in game are slightly altered
i know for the state police ones, the cars are "Kentucky State Troopers" (KST) instead of Kentucky State Police (KSP)
its kinda funny
Made a tiny section to list changes to modding for each updates
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Modding#Modding_changes
This might need to be moved or idk, for now I think that's fitting
Do we have a page for patch notes to each versions ?
That's right. We never add /language_code to page titles that are not english.
So "item name in Portugal" should never have /pt. It should just be "item name in Portugal" and redirect to "item name in English"/pt.
All non-English pages should be subpages of English pages, i.e. /pt
Also, because on the wiki we have both pt-br and pt the different variants should redirect to the correct language code. So this section may not be relevant for Portuguese.
So "item name in PTBR" should redirect to "item name in English"/pt-br
And "item name in PT" should redirect to "item name in English"/pt-br
Hope this makes sense.
We discussed potentially adding a separate page for each patch notes. Which was just waiting for an update before doing. For now it's just the Build 42 page
π
This info for traits can be found all over the place, it just depends on where they're used.
If you let me know where you found this for adrenaline junkie, I can double-check for you
I was reading it at the main Trait page. The code I was looking is the 'zombie.characters.IsoPlayer.getMoveSpeed()'
But I see what you mean: I'm also finding it on 'IsoGameCharacter.calculateBaseSpeed()', so yeah, it depends on where it's used...
Thanks. I'll take a look later today
Everyone say goodbye to the bullet molds, theyre gone in 42.1.0
damn, born in build 35, dead in build 42, and never actually used for anything
also are fiberglass stocks gone as well? tried to spawn some in but I can't seem to find them
Yep, though maybe i need to reword this, 41.78.16 was the last version, not the version it was removed on
crazy, the fiberglass stock looked pretty cool on the guns, now the guns are completely unplayable
they took it away from us, gahhhhhh
An extra 100kb worth of recipes added this patch (actually a significant number of changes when it's just text), and along with it multiple breaks in the recipe parser I have to fix.
On the bright side, I have added crafting template identifiers, to help the bot automatically update pages. And implemented the checking of tags for the same reason. Still looking at potential ways of deployment. @digital helm @languid kayak
Thank god nobody started doing it manually, it would literally be restarting
But then again, for Meade County, they just straight-up pulled it from real life and put it into the game
That interchangable part is the confusing one :D. Might as well just called everything "Build 4x.x.x" and call it a day too (just to confirm, it's only an "issue" on how it's presented on the main page: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Wiki
Yeah, I'd just call them all "Build". The hotfix is implied by the 3rd number. Seems there's some real structure to the naming scheme now too. If we want to explicitly distinguish a hotfix, I'd include it afterwards, Build 42.0.2 hotfix. Otherwise how you've done it on the main page is fine.

Yeah and only add hot fix if the number doesn't change. It seems they're changing the minor number for every patch now
@proud cobalt what's the ETA on the updater?
I've got a list of item renames. I wanted to wait until the bot's done before moving pages around
14 hours lol. I've paused it just lmk when you're done
I also have a list of item renames I'd you want to compare
sure
@proud cobalt I've updated the item id for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hair_Spray unsure if any of the sections need to be changed manually, or if the updater script will do it. From Hairspray to Hairspray2. this was a b41 to b42 change
Yeah I've found a couple like this. Where the original item is removed and a new item Id added. Hard to track them all down
So I think change Hotfix 42.0.2 and Hotfix 42.0.1 to just Build 42.0.2 and Build 42.0.1 for brevity and no thinking too much about it? TBH sounds the simplest and sanest I think?
the only difference in x.x.X builds is that these generally are distinguished by being posted on the same forum post π€
I actually went ahead and changed it https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template%3ANews&action=historysubmit&type=revision&diff=799401&oldid=794373 if it's fine, then I'll continue naming things build except like you say a situation when the number won't change π
I think that's good
Yeah looks good
Adding 20% at panic level 3 and 25% at level 4 seems to be the more reliable effect to me. Seems to be used when updating the player's movement.
I'm unsure where the result of IsoPlayer.getMoveSpeed() gets used. If anywhere, it adds 10% at level 4.
Unless someone knows for certain.
So we're making pages for versions ?
I think some of the counties have weird boundaries that don't line up with our map
Zomboid Bullitt County doesn't even have any locations or landmarks there
Unless you count transmission lines as a landmarks
You mean bulletin
I dont know what you mean, there are a lot of bulletin boards in the bulletin county
Maybe https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:HistoryLine could be utilized for it?
Yes, they are combined in one page so far, but might get split
I actually think we could split the minor notes too, kinda follow up to just calling things "build" uniformly
worth adding to build 42 project, unless you already did?
as in "Build 42.1.0" page? I.e., https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_42.1.0 ? Yeah, that's the plan. I just didn't went through all the old pages to do that for older builds yet. Also we decided we'd need an overview for "Build 41" but not without all the logs, else it's monstrous with all the logs and unwieldy https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_41
How does that work ?
I mostly asked to be able to link the game patch note
actually my bad https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:HistoryTable
I still don't know how that even works, or what it does or how it should be used
Do you have examples ?
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=.223_Bullet_Mold&action=edit§ion=2 for example (or any other item)
Created https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_42.1.0 btw β might be rough around edges, but can be linked to
π
How are you all doing, especially with the new work load. Everyone drinking plenty and streatching often??!
Alright so I see the use, but I'm not sure I should do a table per modding field
I guess maybe ?
I'd think so?
I think that's good yea
However recipe scripts will be in scripts
No in Recipe scripts
bcs hell no we're not doing such a table for every types of script lol
At least I really don't think that's a good idea
When you see how many types exist π
i kinda think that'd be ideal
things like models and sounds don't change ever so maybe don't do those but
To have tables for each script types ?
yeah
a shared one would probably be massively stacked with item changes
and there's stuff like vehicles which really are a pretty distinct category of modding with a largely separate audience from the rest of it
btw @hushed bobcat not sure you want to include it but here's the street sign from the concept art https://pzwiki.net/w/images/8/87/Project_Zomboid_Cover.jpg βΒ Jefferson Street, these are the RL streets in Louisville just in case
I mean, if there's a lot of changes sure
But that table is getting massive anyway with all the later updates
AutoLearnAny is what im fixing right now, but dont forget its 42 not 41 π
Yes
Was a typo
That's fixed
Nice, will include it there later. BTW, I included the neighborhood map and some IRL references on that street names page, it could help better identify the reference. Like the manslick street, it looks like is the one parallel to the park in the north-south direction
yeah, saw it, looks neat
What do you think about it this way ? @flat sun
looks good for now, would have to see in the future how it works out i guess
Yeah

==What is Lua?==
Lua is a powerful, fast, surprisingly lovely and simple scripting language. It is easily embedded into Java code (which Project Zomboid is written in) and thus was an ideal choice for the Indie Stone to introduce to the modding community. Lua appeared from the 0.2.0 test versions onwards, resulting in some fantastic mods. Some of the initial mods have gone on to be implemented as part of the vanilla game (Stormy's [http://theindiestone.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=6544 Reloading Mod], RobertJohnson's [http://theindiestone.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=8926 Farming Mod] and [http://theindiestone.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=8968 Camping Mod]).
For context
I'm reworking the Lua language page bcs it's such a mess it makes it unusable for anything
But I think this part I'm keeping fully however those links are poof
We might need to try and find them on the internet archive
If we can't, we have this blog post which mentions them https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2013/08/the-pz-inquisition/
Nobody ever expects it, do they? The Zomboid Inquisition? Apart from maybe the PZ community who collated their questions over the weekend for todayβs Mondoid, and merrily clicked βlikeβ on the ones theyβd most like to see answered. How many places are named Louisville? There are 15 places in the world named Louisville! Number of places named Louisville per country:

A fun and friendly game development community!
Thx !
Didn't think about using that yea
yeah, will be a problem for a while π
- Sheet Curtains attached to animated doors are now rendered in 3D, attached to the animated doors.
neat!
Was thinking how long it'd take
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:DoubleRedirects that's quite some π (mostly caused by redirects btw)
btw @proud cobalt the double redirects can actually be a bot task, though sometimes due to splitting/moving pages, the fixed redirects can be wrong
English Wikipedia catually automates fixing their double redirects on a schedule, at least last time I checked
as per the message here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:DoubleRedirects
It is usually not necessary to fix these by hand. Bots will go through the entire list periodically and fix all of the double redirects, except for protected pages.
btw @thin cloud not sure you seen that, but Halwaru did a great job in mapping street names in case you want to use it for further reference. I want to move that somewhere to the main page this month.
Would also be nice to have at least tentative confirmation on neighborhoods/district names (the Leafhill Heights and Evergreen Hills come from our previous discussions, the rest are from spawn map, some are roughly mapped but not named), https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Halwaru/Street_names#Neighborhoods so we can desribe name our pages accordingly as part of the location project, pinging @naive imp too π
Yeah I have a script for it already, I did the 5,000 at the start of the month with the original item name changes
I'm half way to my very own autowikibot π
Except its purpose built to do one task only. Should help with updating Crafting
It parses all the item ids on the page, finds the associated Crafting lists, then formats them on the left. And copies to result to my clipboard. Or I can edit it on the left and copy it myself
Nice! The neighbourhoods are VERY new and so I didn't have them for my flyers. You'd really have to ask Ayrton about where they are, and the boundaries may not be set yet
Literally. AWB 2.0 π Looks like it'd be adaptable though
Yeah if I implement search, and add some in editor find and replace, it could probably function as a semi automatic editor. I never ended up. Continuing on that last one. Huge scope
Another project to start π
π
I think Vibrance used his own script too
AWB was PITA to run smoothly, at least on Linux, but I think it wasn't much better on Windows when it comes to usability. Kinda overdesigned.
Does the ai update the wiki pages on items once a patch is released?
The ai is impressive also, stepped away from editing 6 months ago ish now, seeing technology like that is amazing for making pages
No AI. We use bots and scripts to update some areas when there are updates
AI as in artificial intelligence? That's not used, the bots are just automated changes based on a script that's written by a human
I meant bots sorry shouldβve clarified
yeah π
The data are parsed from the files and outputted in a wiki format, so they can be automatically filled
Super cool though, helps make the thousands of pages on all the items haha
It's still unbelievable how quick we can get some things updated now though
Thatβs sick
Really good for tedious data like infoboxes and list tables
The current open sourced scripts should be in general in https://github.com/stars/Faalagorn/lists/pzwiki-scripts (the link's pinned in the channel), not sure if everything's 100% public yet, but most work was done recently by @proud cobalt and @digital helm mostly π
The main one we use is this one https://github.com/Vaileasys/pz-wiki_parser
but there were some other scripts by previous users that was used or were based on
funny that this started off as a way to generate this list and just evolved from there https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list
Amazing work π might see what I could do once im home. Are there projects on community portal I could work on?
sure, all are open for contributions. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Community_portal should link to all
Check pinned posts pinned in this channel too
Yeah, there's a few. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Build_42_Update some subprojects in here, and the others are linked too
Yeah we're constantly improving it to be able to do more. It's the wiki parser mostly, it also includes rewrites and implementations of other peoples scripts but updated for the current version. Most of the old scripts are forgotten and abandoned, and don't work in B42.
On the bot side it's mostly CalvyBot but Vail got his bot working recently too. I have an updater script that takes the output of the wiki parser and compares it to the current article, and if it's different will update the article. This is mainly for templates. Then it can also upload the new articles generated in the parser too. It's also how we can make translated pages of items automatically.
Well, the open ones that is π The closed ones are not really have anything to work on, though sometimes I wonder if projects such as Vehicles or SCC would be permanently closed or brought back to life (or maybe new ones created).
Projects such as categories and recipes are generally closed, as even if these things needs adjusting, things that had to be done in their scope, are done. And Build 41 project is finished, the only pre-b41.78.16 bits are either in non-English pages or some minor things in bigger articles.
Yeah, I have a bot too, so might get it running someday but I mostly just throw ideas, so when it comes to bot, best for Calvy and Vail to respind (but we also had some other users using bots historically, they are technically active, but might not work well with the recent wiki updates to not to overwhelm it for regular readers).
Yeah even recipes is just a sub project of B42 now, which is mostly what I'm currently working on
New items in 42.1.1
Firefighter Axe Head (Base.FireAxeHead)
Wooden Spade (Base.SpadeWood)
you're adding them to the project too?
Yeah, they're added
yeah, just checked π
btw, I saw some some red links there, never did a research, but I suppose they're not auto-added as they're movables, right?
most are movables. Some are these new items
the ones past 42.0.0, yeah
I removed some build 42 stuff from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Planned_features since it's at unstable and while at it I started going through some of the old notes; a lot of links are dead and some are so old might not be in the game's scope anymore / things has changed since (back to 2013ish).
Also lacks stuff like fire being mentioned currently
I agree. The scope has changed so much. A lot of that early stuff was just "yeah this'd be cool to have"
Added these and the other new items from 42.1
There's a bunch of new tags too @digital helm
Should get to them today. And hopefully update the existing ones too
While at it, I think I touched that someday, but I guess we still don't mind renaming them to avoid (tag) when there's no collision?
Hmm. Possibly. The problem is that the templates/scripts add (tag) suffix. I could have them mapped for the script, but I don't really know how to fix that for the templates
I think we should have (tag) at all times
and redirects for when (tag) isn't written?
That'd work
I make my return and immediately put a typo in the image I just uploaded. I don't recall how to do redirects so It's left like that for now π₯²
It is the steel knuckle's image for those that know how to do it, put two Ls instead of just one.
Which image? You can just move π
Oh you said lol, it was covered on my screen
In case I do it again where is the option to do that? I know I've done it once before but that was a long time ago and I've forgot
Fixed it up for you, it's here
Ah, tysm π
np π
Welcome back! The layout has changed a bit too, which wouldn't help. There's been a lot of changes since you were last adding models. We do a lot of automation now, so model names need to be fairly specific. If you want to read about the naming conventions, that's detailed here https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Style_guide#Naming_conventions
Otherwise you can just click the icon in the infobox and it'll take you to the upload page with the correct name.
Ah yeah, the reason I had done it is because they didn't already have a name there for them. With B42 finally dropping I'll be around for a bit again, a lot of new stuff to take renders of, just gotta get back into the flow.
It'd be really appreciated. There's certainly a lot to do π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_requiring_item_models
We, we have brass knuckles?

Has anyone been able to figure anything out about the "farming tank trailer"? Trying to start a page on it but I've been able to find no info on it doesnt appear to do anything currently in game
No idea
my assumption is that its most likely going to be for spraying crops but I can't confirm it yet
I think its likely just large scale liquid holding of any kind
ye that was my first thought
but I feel like that doesnt fit with the part saying "TankSprayer"
so maybe just a "large scale watering can"
Ok so i kind of just smashed out all the crafting sections over about 5 hours π I had to be pretty harsh overall, lots of stuff got overwritten. Everything removed will all have to be redone anyway as its all wrong. This is also just the first pass so will be some i missed. Also tried to leave anything to do with construction and put it under a Construction subheader.
But, now all the item pages should have their appropriate crafting tables
At least, when calvybot catches up with my queue, damn api rate limit
The tool definitely helped, no way i could have done it this fast without it, i was doing 2 pages a second at some points
2996 pages in total
Are you sure that's not from a mod? I can't find it in the game files, and trailer IDs typically start with Trailer_
I donβt think so, I checked my mods after finding the trailer but didnβt find anything, Iβll double check tomorrow because thereβs one more mod I can think of now that might have it
My guess would be this one, especially from the vehicle id https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3217685049&searchtext=PZK+Vanilla+Like+Cars
Also a mention in the changelog about why they wouldn't be functioning
hotfix:
Due to some reported errors with interacting tankers - interaction functions on tankers and trailers are temporarly disabled due to script rewriting to new fluid system
Updating existing tags now, then I'll add any new ones. Created a script to do this for each update
I donβt think itβs that one
Or actually it might be
I should have included a better screenshot
But itβs a small green and yellow trailer
Like the one on the far right of the top row in that screenshot
Iβll check tmr but imma go to bed now
Good night
The mod is PZK VLC it's definitely a mod π
Good idea
Bot finished so the majority of Crafting should be rolled out
Been a lot of work. Must feel good getting it done π
It's nice to actually have it up, though I wish the edits went to me and not the bot π
we'll just pretend you have an extra 3000 or so edits
@languid kayak I've created a {{Noredirect}} template, which is used the same way as {{ll}} but will link to a redirect page, instead of getting redirected to the target (redirect=no). I've added it to {{Move}}, {{Merge}} and {{Split}}. So we can just do |redirect=true
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Noredirect
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Move
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Merge
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Split
Used it here for an example https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Chicken_(animal)
40k yipee π
Oh I also tried to do a little standardisation as I went. Man it was bad. This is something that's going to have to be done. Across all items.
Header order, what should be a subheader and what should be its own section, stuff like that
Yeah, a lot of fixing those things is just from stumbling on the page
Did you have an example of what would/could be its own section? I think the current guide for items should fit most cases
I don't have any links, but from memory,
Fixing/repairing are sometimes their own section sometimes in usage.
Consumable properties is the same.
Theres a lot of weirdly formatted clothing, inconsistent layouts particularly with the body part template
Usage also seems to be a catch all for anything. Lots of them could be split into overview too
I think an example of that is the Pros and cons table.
I think we mentioned repairing, and putting it in its own section. Either that or Crafting.
Consumable properties I think is fine in Usage. Since it's the result of using it.
Yeah that's a good one
Groups of articles have particular styles, I assume all made by the same person. It's hard to keep a standard format with 4,000 item articles
I know I've been guilty of forgetting how something was formatted. I probably did a lot of the repairing ones
Also it seems there's still an enormous amount of Crafting to come, so I'll have to get the updater working with Crafting
We're on 1000+ recipes already
@languid kayak were sticking with encumbrance right?
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Bags&curid=11394&diff=809859&oldid=648435
Yep. It's no longer weight
OK I'll revert and leave them a message
I assume they got mixed up, going off of their other edit
hey, welcome back π We have a lot of models missing, yeah π
pzwiki did not list the underground medieval catacombs under the Military Research Facility?
Uh, the research lab page hasn't been updated to 42 yet..
Hey @proud cobalt, maybe you already know, but looks like there is another case of recipe duplication, this time with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Stone_Knife
It list two recipes (Assemble Crude Knife and Make_Stone_Knife) but those are essentially the same recipe
ah
they were experimenting some ancient cthulhu thingy
good thing Im good at sneaking
huh, something's not right
@digital helm can we add blue layout for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:HistoryTable ? That way, it'd look good on https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Modding&diff=next&oldid=800579
Not a duplicate, there's two recipes
Shit... I was worried about this. The Post-expand include size is too large. There's 65 of them. Without lua this will get really jank. Also pinging @digital helm so he's aware. Idk what to do about this
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_where_template_include_size_is_exceeded
Checked back on the timeline page to see how things have progressed since the new unstable build.
I confess to feeling rather sour about @robust latch gutting a considerable amount of work I did over the course of several days. Nothing to be done since I wasnβt really around to discuss it, I guess.
thx for letting me know lol
alas I was not the first person to find something to add to the wiki
Unfortunately, that's the way of a wiki. It happens to all of us, and it can often feel like a waste of time. But, so long as it's done in good faith and we have a better end result, there's nothing wrong with it.
I assume you're referring to this edit https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Knox_Event&type=revision&diff=407457&oldid=406099
Some sections were removed because they were speculative and inconclusive.
They were speculative, yes.
However, the context of them being added in the first place was the existence of several lore tweets that people could infer certain events from despite being fragmented collections of words. At least some indication that βthings happened hereβ for people that will never try and navigate the mess that X has become. It being so difficult to even read the posts in order.
It was making the best of what was available. On one occasion, I raised zero fuss about an entry being cut down in size for similar reasons once I heard βnoβ, but removing several in their entirety was just a waste in my biased opinion.
I totally get that. But maybe we can have a dedicated page for preserving these tweets, instead. Then we could go into more detail about each tweet and what they may mean.
I don't think this page is a good place for that though
We had discussed potentially doing that when the tweets first started coming out
typically a wiki isn't used for speculation/original research, it's mentioned in the wikipedia style guide, though I guess there is the issue of defining where the line lies
Well, that page doesnβt exist yet and Iβd obviously be happy to contribute to it. So Iβm at least glad you understand my frustration.
The line is somewhat arbitrary, as entries that are still on the page also include speculation. Just less of it.
This page in particular is subject to extreme scrutiny, we even get comments about it from TIS employees. Having work reverted sucks, but be assured you're not the first to have work on this particular page reverted
Iβll get over it. I just found out today, after all.
I feel that this is just as speculatory as the removed points
@serene sage @proud cobalt did you think this dedicated page would be good? I'll then set it up
That was based on the timestamp of the related tweet.
right
We should preserve the tweets, it would be nice if we had preserved the wiki accounts tweets before it got nuked
I don't think a dedicated page for only the Knox Event tweets is needed, I'd rather just keep the original points in the article even if they consist of speculation, but a general page for archiving tweets would be fine
Well, if nothing else, I hope I expressed my grievance in a respectful and nondisruptive manner.
I worry that one page for preserving any tweets would get incredibly long. There's 142 tweets just from The Knox Event in Real Time account. I'd like to at least have all of them preserved in their entirety. Maybe I'll just start with a page for that, then we can always move it or change it later if we want.
@languid kayak for your thoughts on this too
All good. As I said, it happens to us all
142βΌοΈ
I would push for a single page, tweets aren't actually that long.
I'm not sure how we'd preserve all tweets without the 2 accounts feeling unrelated.
I started the bones for a Knox Event in Real Time page. Feel free to change it around or move it https://pzwiki.net/wiki/The_Knox_Event_in_Real_Time
@fast lodge
Understood. Thanks for the heads-up.
(they have a character limit)
Flexhinge is likely a reference to Flextape
Still waiting for laptop fan to arrive so cant add it myself
Thanks! Kinda niche/mainteneance template, but was annoying seeing links here previously without it: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Build_42_Update#Occupations
Yeah, something long overdue. Boilerplates were meant to standarize that, but I never ever finished them properly.
Best to split the work about small chunks we can go through manually.
Introductions are not uniform, too.
I often confuse the order of things myself, too π
Yeah, thats more down to 10+ years of the wiki existing
Yeah, unless something changed
someone went through the tweets and started archiving the initial ones, the archives are listed.
Though I don't mind having them on the wiki itself, would allow to add links, notes and will appear in the wiki search.
I remember it being online like a little over year ago? No backups indeed, I don't even have screenshots sadly. IIRC it wasn't really anything useful there, but all I have is a blurry memory lol.
My memory might be wrong, but I thought it was mmmicrophone doing posts there, but I saw Connall referign to it too.
Can split it if needed I guess.
but yeah, saw Calvy mentioning it won't be that long, so might not be needed after all
I guess it's still the case in b42? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Keen_Cook_(occupation_trait)#Effects
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Adrenaline_Junkie#Effects β I guess it's "Frightened" and "Terrified"?
it's whatever level 3 and 4 are called
I'll check in b42 then π
Literature updated https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Literature
I should be able to get annotated maps autogenerated with a link to their coordinates
ah yes. fun
if anyone has the time and wants to, could someone check Ekron Annotated Map #3, it seems to crash for me as soon as i get close. Cant write wiki if i cant get there lol
I'll get to it later
thx
@ornate tapir game crashed as well, gonna submit a bug report
well, at least i now know im not crazy ^^ thanks for checking
I submitted a bug report here, we'll wait and see if anyone responds: https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/78991-4211-rev25941-certain-ekron-annotated-map-ekronstashmap3-causes-current-save-to-crash/
Version: [42.1.1] Mode: [Singleplayer] Mods: [None] Save: [New Save] Reproduction steps: 1. Start a new save in any game mode (Apocalypse mode for me) with debug mode enabled 2. Open Stash debuggers in the debug menu 3. Spawn in the map named EkronStashMap3 and read it 4. Open world map and telep...
at this point I believe it is a problem with initializing the loot in the house, but what do I know
BBurgStashMap8 also crashes the game. I've passed it on
@serene sage @ornate tapir I've updated the annotated maps table which may help with the annotated map pages. There's now coordinates, containers, container coords, and loot table https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Annotated_Map#Variants
@naive imp Seems Roudrick uploaded image for a store that don't have a page yet, might keep that in mind in case you (or someone else) will be going through adding new locations / Irvington: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Tabacoo_Irvington.png
I'm gonna categorize it now.
(keep in mind that the file name is mispelled
The following text is what triggered our spam filter: WeightLoss
Lol. What's wrong withWeightLoss?
btw Weight_Loss is fine.
Bots try to advertise weight loss scams
What's with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Beer_Bottle and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Beer_Bottle_(beer) ? Do we have pages for containers with liquids that spawn?
tbh, I'm totally confused how we handle liquid containers now, e.g., https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Pop_Can_(disambiguation) β full cans are not even in the pages linked π©
Full items are not a thing anymore
Before you had copies of items with and without fluid
