I was hoping the upgrade to generators would mean different radius, being able to have two circuits, different fuel consumption. But nope
i think it must be a future feature
for example they've been given differing ConditionLowerChanceOneIns but they don't even read that property
Wait is it not var4 what are they reading with the last line?
if ((int)GameTime.getInstance().getWorldAgeHours() != this.lastHour) {
int var1 = (int)GameTime.getInstance().getWorldAgeHours() - this.lastHour;
float var2 = 0.0F;
int var3 = 0;
int var4 = 30; // Default condition lower chance value
// Overwrite var4 based on the generator type
if (this.getModData().rawget("generatorFullType") != null && this.getModData().rawget("generatorFullType") instanceof String) {
String var5 = (String)this.getModData().rawget("generatorFullType");
if (var5 != null && ScriptManager.instance.getItem(var5) != null) {
Item var6 = ScriptManager.instance.getItem(var5);
var4 = var6.getConditionLowerChance();
}
} ```
shit, you're right π
i didn't even think to check that, i just checked if it was added to the item instance, which it isn't, they just read it from the script here
"Look at me, I'm the modder now"
yeah, the straightened (pretty much exclusively by sharp, minus one logo at the moment) are https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Straightened_logos
The ones from the game (some are old unused versions though, like Windows by mistake instead of Window and Sharpshooter) β more will need to be cut from flyers are https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Recreated_logos
There are recreated logos by @digital helm pretty much on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:User_recreated_logos too β these were made from scratch based on the regular logos
Finally there are logos from billboards too, taxi (currently just Spiffo's uploaded) and there are logos as vans (not uploaded yet) and t-shirt decals (low quality), see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Logos for all the logos (tht category includes them all, including third party services and TIS logos too)
That'd be https://pzwiki.net/wiki/TileZed material I;d say, so far I pinned it
There's a rough guide by Pohly floating around in the wiki talk pages ttoo, was never put properly on the wiki
There was one user who did them all before, but they were really sloppy, as Pohly only showed GIMP tutorial for straigthenieng
I have a video saved, but no on this computer, let me see, maybe I can find it though
The video in question was it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29ZULSS6gvk
This video is supposed to give a demonstration on how to make the "diagonal" signs from the Zomboid game files intro straight-facing signs instead.
There should be a way though, as game uses it kinda
Still didn't recover from logos by The one that shall not be named

If you upload anything of this quality I will personally send you to court for insult towards humanity
Ahah
I think I am misunderstanding something on wiki, I updated Hodgett's logo but it doesn't change on the page
It can take up to 48 hours
Image caching on the wiki
Okay thanks, I was wondering if I had to do something else
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Hodgett_Farm_Area.png @wooden tinsel
Uuuh
This is a bad screenshot in a couple of reasons
1)POI should not be visible
2)Since its an "overview" shot, it should be taken with highest level/layer. Or in other words roofs should be visible
Id also personally take a photo of the entire area that is presumably a part of the location/business
Other notes on the overall page:
- Comments, marked with <!--Comment--> should be removed from the final page
2)Empty elements should be removed untill there is something to fill them in with
3)|thumb|center]] after images in infobox is not required, you can just leave them as |logo=Hodgett farm sign.png
4)Hodget farm is in Doe valley, not Fallas lake. Fallas lake(In circle) is a small town in the region of Doe Valley(In the red border)
So in the end of the page, location should include Category:Region/Town
(This case:Category:Doe Valley)
Can we have the ImageMap extension? So then we could use an image like the spawning map and on top of it, on each city/town location, put the link to the corresponding page. We could even go crazy later on and use it on each city/town page to pinpoint POI (or just major areas like neighbors if all POIs end up being too much). Wdyt?
Hey @proud cobalt, what's the reason for {} or {{lc:{}}} in these lines (in Template: Infobox item):
(| effect_range = {} range
| effect_range_tooltip = Radius of the {{lc:{}}})?
Why not write "Effect"?
I looked at some Items who use this and I didn't understand it.
.
Thanks for your remarks, i left comments and empty categories because i didn't finish the page and i wanted to keep these comments to guide me through the creation π
And sure, my mistake about region and screenshot
ΠΡΠΈΠ²Π΅Ρ
Id recommend slapping Improve next time
Makes it more obvious that the page isnt finished so shouldnt be reviewed that harshly as I did
Didn't know it existed ^^
Alright π
yo idk of the person who made it is here but will the site that contains a live map of the entire county eventually be updated to v42?
awesome, thanks man
really helpful cause I couldn't find it anywhere else
was this made like the other day?
I searched for several days but couldn't find anything like it
I think Cal made it.. about a week and a bit ago now?
gotcha
well its super handy
also I gotta say, I didn't realize the military research base got a massive expansion until I explored it due to the week one mod
dude its bigger on the inside
Yep, don't forget the depth and heights now too
yep
I had a funny convo the other day about it actually in one of the other channels
found it funny there were so many doors between each flight of stairs
but dude the map is insane in size and detail
Yep! Keep an eye on the Wiki for information and such, they are working very hard now to get onto B42 info and it's coming along great
what is this building?
noticed it near the top right end of the map
looks kinda like a fort of some kind
It's an old western style fort, they'd pop up during the american expasnion through the to the west as it was easy to prop up, easy to defend and be a focus point of trade, military actions and supplying
ohhhh ok
I didn't recognize it as that cause you would usually see stuff like that more frequently out further west
it's been there since the end of b41, i really thought they would've connected it properly to the rest of the map by now
Considering where it is, it looks like it's more of those type of tourist attractions. So a fake made one for shows and education
I'm just wondering if they'll add in fort knox or something like that
I think they spoke about that once, right?
cool
They will add it upon implementing npc's
That's what I thought, I remember reading it. They wanted to save it for a sort of raid event, right?
They've explicitly said that somewhere in Thursdoids
I dont remember
Its fort knox! 1!1!1!!1!
More likely that its some unused historical site that devs didn't implement, but didn't let go of assets yet
Considering Fort Knox can be made by copy pasting that and twisting it 45 degress.. it wouldn't surprise me if that was the idea. Copy paste and insert then tidy up. But then decided to save it for later
Im curious how they will implement the interior now lol
Fort knox is a highly secured facility and dont think its interior is out to public
It's not no, but there's plenty of film versions and show versions, so they'll most likley take the most common
"We've stolen secret blueprints from the US government to recreate fort knox in pz!"
That'd be one HELL of a 1.0 release xD
No need to steal anything though, we can just bait war thunder community to leak them
knowing how the US military works with design of things, it probably will be oddly simple like a really big warehouse with lots of really specific anti-burglery tech installed on the roof beams and entry points
That got me, ngl xD
I'm wondering how many times the company behind war thunder has had to settle issues with the US army and the tendency for it to be the platform of choice to leak classified documents
I love the mental gymnastics involved just to try and justify pz's world building
also why does this county have sooooo many military posts and checkpoints, and I'm not talking about the ones that are just a bunch of tents and can be set up in like 24h, I mean the ones that look like they would have taken at least a few weeks to construct, I live in a state with a major military base and even near it there aren't this many checkpoints and stations
like its just funny how many there are
Starndard containment protocol most likely in the event of an ourbreak, or attack. Checkpoints create chokeholds, slow down movements of enemy forces and allow you to direct the flow of bnattle
Pz is a great game with absolutely no flaws with devs and community
I mean yeah but the thing that makes it feel like its not quite that is the overall layout of them gives way to a design intention around them having been their prior to the outbreak and likely something permanent for security
are there many in the new areas? (i haven't seen too much of them)
Nothing happened with good community translations on B42 Iwbums release
otherwise i don't think there's that many?
Not really
The only new checkpoint is Bruhdenburg bridge
in fairness most of them were horribly unfinished
And expanded lv checkpoint
I will fight to death that new professional translation is worse that what we had
And i did in #translations
ehhhhhh that closely together across general roads and not places that simply just need contained security perimeters would be something you'd more likely see in an invaded territory to prevent the enemy from traveling as easily without being noticed
it doesn't really affect me so i'll trust you on the quality, but there were definitely languages that just didn't have a nearly complete community translation to begin with
So have tastless professional translation for those languages
Not the one that gor a lot of development that devs ignored
I gotta give the devs credit for the scale of the map and overall layout
i'm trying to think of where military installations are, there's the big louisville camp but that seems pretty hastily made, and then i can only think of march ridge being a military town and there's a barracks in the woods somewhere, and the secret base of course
feels like a one to one of my own area in almost every way
There are more temporary installations and blockades in lore
Pretty much every highway and roads were blocked
duuuude this updated map is amazing
soooo many buildings I can explore and check out now
Project Zomboid's gonna be the next War Thunder
Please do not give the zomboid commuity ideas xD
no, they'll for sure leak the floor plans in the server and push the devs to have all the bathrooms in the correct spots
realism is one hell of a drug
That's my worry, as they go to B48 which is is the polishing update.
The entire communityy will just be scouring the map and complaing about the mini details xD
I've noticed that the devs, although they have done a glow up of the map, have still left some B41 map problems in B42
like this mailbox right on the pavement still exists
I know from experience of working back in the day with Hammer on Source maps, I used to just slowly work my way through and knock out the entire map first and then go through and fix smaller errors. Make sure it flowed rihgt, had the textures and no texture mapping right etc, then go back and make smaller adjustments.
So this is likely the case, those small detailswill be done in B48 with the polishing
guess I'll have to live with these map errors for the rest of my life
I do wonder how large the vanilla map will be by that point though
one time on Reddit I read about someone's dream of being able to drive from Louisville to Nashville
that's never happening
You've not even make it out of Louis without breaking your car xD
Lexington is probably the furthest the devs could reasonable go, assuming after Fort Knox they only expand out to the west past LV
Lexington seems like a pretty fun city to have in PZ, I like the idea of being able to drive around in a large loop
Is there an image width limit we should impose ourselves on the wiki ?
Turns out that fucking debug tool was here since the release
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Imgui

interesting
man I just found mildraugh on the map, surprisingly its actually pretty close to fort knox
if not literally right next to
weirdly enough there are a surprising amount of military installations pretty much within the boundaries of Louisville
To be honest probably not, we're waiting on some other pretty vital extensions right now like scribuntu
It's MediaWiki code for defaults and translation, keep it formatted like that and just translate the words
Omg hammer you just brought back some awful memories of high school
You are welcome >:D!
Let me give you more, HOSTIES!
God the map design for them was horrible and the amount of times I ended up ripping those apart and remaing them .. UGH
Question for devs(?, or at least anyone with more usa road knowledge than me):
Are we sure that those two question marks are really KY 60? Looking at the mileage in the map, the blue one (KY 163) probably start on Brandenburg, with means that the blue question mark is probably KY 163 instead of KY 60. Another indication of that is the purple line, that shows that the mileage of the KY 60 starts in the intersection of 163 (north of waverly hills sanatory). Then, that would probably indicate that the red one (KY 79) probably doesn't end on Brandenburg, but instead, continues over the bridge to Indiana (as by the real Brandenburg). So, something is weird, it's the mileage or the labels of the roads, or just my understanding on how usa name their roads π
I'm inclined to say that the mileage are the ones that are probably incorrect, given the type of road in-game we find on those. That intersection where the purple one is pointing looks like this, which looks way more as if the KY 60 was coming from Brandenburg, 2 lanes each direction, then there is the intersection with 1 lane each direction. If that is really the case, then 1) the labels are different from the real Kentucky (NABD, things are different), 2) the mileage marked on the map is not 100% accurate (NABD, we can easily calculate it with a ruler), and 3) maybe some of those road overlap, but then we will need to determine (without an official source) where the concurrency starts and ends
Not really. We use thumb for most images, which makes it float right, with a caption. It'll also resize for mobile.
E.g.
Otherwise, you can use class=res-img if you want it as part of the content. This will make it resize based on screen size.
E.g.
Oh...
I've never heard about that thumb thing
I used center
Because the imgui image is so large, if you use thumb you could also use link= which'll link directly to the image's filepath in its full resolution, not scaled. I.e. links to here https://pzwiki.net/w/images/8/84/Imgui_exampleUI.png
How do I use that ? As an argument in the image ?
Yeah
so
Lol wait let me reduce its size
I'll have to see if it looks good when the page gets more informations, but rn this doesn't look great where it's placed
mediawiki has a good guide on images, if you wanted to play around with it https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Images
This page explains the image syntax when editing the wiki.
You or another user must usually upload an image before you can use it on a page.
Images that are stored on a MediaWiki server are usually rendered by using the File: namespace prefix (but the legacy Image: namespace prefix is still supported as a synonym) as the target of a MediaWiki li...
Hey, is there a way to check if someone's uploaded, say, a new image for in-game Muldraugh?
Like, it's possible someone uploaded "muldraugh_b42.png"
You can search https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Special:Search&profile=images&search=&fulltext=1 otherwise you'll have to just look for it on a page it might be on, or in this category https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Location_images
Thanks
Hey, would you guys consider Louisville Airport as part of Louisville, or it's own thing?
Additionally, should we call it "Louisville Airport," "Louisville International Airport," or "LV Airport International?"
More importantly, should we include the airport in the image for Louisville.png?
Googling the real one, looks like it's called "Louisville International Airport", so I would suggest go with that. Dedicated page? Totally
I mean, it's definitely getting its own page, but do we list it as a location inside Louisville?
Looking for precedents, Muldraugh lists the Railyard, in their locations, but the image (the thumb) doesn't, given how "far" it is
Mostly done with all the literature items (and others with custom titles), listing all of their titles. All listed in the variants section
Hardcover - https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Book
Paperback - https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Paperback
Leatherbound - https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Leatherbound_Book

And a nice long "book" disambiguation page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Book_(disambiguation) (incomplete)
The only other ones with custom titles are: Newspapers (mostly set up), Business Cards, Lockets, Doodle and Post Cards
Solid effort damn
I just found the old league wiki links to models like this. It skips the need for complicated add-ons. Though does require hosting. Possibly a chance they host something like this for us?
Probably. So is it just a link to the webpage?
As in, we'd just link to the model. Not have the model itself viewable on the wiki
Yeah a link that says view model in 3D and links to the page
If we can get something basic set up, we can ask Kirrus
I just wouldn't know where to start with something like that
I have a couple days off. I might see if I can get a proof of concept. Though I'd really like to get some more work done on recipes
These things take longer than we expect π this literature stuff has taken me all week...
This would be pretty cool to have for characters too. Especially once NPCs come around
How do we feel about reworking the Bags page to be a Container page (for items) instead? It matches the in-game category, and there's a lot more variation with containers now, i.e. not just bags. We have things like hollow books, photo albums, box, wallets, ammo containers, cookie jar, and key rings. Also, each container item can have specific items that can go in it. E.g. Dog tag can go in the wallet, or on a key ring. This is going to make it a helluvalot easier to automate, keep updated, and organised.
Also, "back" items are no longer just bags either. We have the SCBA, sprayers, hydration packs and manpack radio. So I think we should keep "Back" items with clothing, and "Container" items on this Container/Bag page. @proud cobalt @languid kayak
I'm planning on looking at these next
Fluid containers would be separate https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fluid_container
xayah...,
I think having a dedicated bags page would also be useful. A lot of readers would be looking for just bags.
So maybe split off bags into another page from the rest of containers?
I would say so, yeah.
The idea was to combine them all, and just rename the page. As far as the game is concerned, bags and containers are the same thing. It doesn't discriminate between bag and non-bag, it's just "container". The wearable ones would be in their own section, just as they are now, and the non-wearable ones would be organised better, and likely with other/similar new containers.
Thats definitely a good way to go about it was just offering an alternative perspective
How would be organize them though?
By purpose? Inventory size?
I'd have to look at them more. But likely by their tags
Bags would still be redirected there, and likely mentioned in the page, so it can still be found easily
I'll play around with generating a list of them, so we can see what we actually have to work with
@serene sage @languid kayak some more lore for Judge Matt Hass
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Photograph_of_Judge_Matt_Hass_(Autographed)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Paperback_(hass)#Titles these are also listed are political books https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Paperback_(politics)#Titles
Apparently there's also (going to be?) a set for him at the Triple N studio, but I couldn't find it.
Also funny that one of the only places to find a racy photo is at the Woodcraft set π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Photograph_(racy)#Titles
Realised the "Hass" paperback should be moved to be capitalised
Fun fact, the real airport's been renamed after Muhammad Ali back in 2019
damn he has his own paperback variant
So problem here is that I made the page about custom sandbox options for mods, but the vanilla sandbox option page is named "Custom Sandbox"
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Sandbox_options
Yeah i think its neccesary tbh. We have a load more standard containers. Bags should probably be included in that, with a redirect.
Back items being clothing instead of containers makes the most sense.
Thats so on brand
You added an about tag so i think its fine, i might just clarify it a bit
Or overall the pages names should be swapped in a way
Does this mean that if you can beat the shit out of every staff member of that airport in a brawl, your ticket gets upgraded to first class for free?
I think the current names are good. The vanilla page is named after the in-game option, whereas the modding one matches the Java class
Uh, the page I made is not about the java class
to me, in an ideal world both should probably refer to the existing page - custom sandbox is the gamemode, and sandbox options are the options it gives you access to (and the only thing the gamemode does) - but then the modded ones would have to be called 'custom sandbox options' which would be even more confusing than it already is π
Also doesn't help that the first and only level 2 heading on the custom sandbox page is "sandbox options". The page only has sandbox options π
Dw they gutted her and the rest of ADCs
Yeah, friend told me
Good for him, he's a top laner π
where can the dates for magazine variants be found in the files?
In SpecialItemData_Magazines.lua under SpecialLootSpawns.MagazineDetails
tysm
The logic is in SpecialLootSpawns.lua in SpecialLootSpawns.OnCreateMagazine3
thanks
np
Finally got around to fixing this π I've given the location toggle box a minimum width of 546px, then it'll clear and move below the infobox
Really outdid myself with this intro
Oh nice, better than never
uh, turkeys are in the game currently
Hasn't been created yet
(fun fact. You can spawn raccoons in debug, but I don't think they spawn naturally rn)
also would I be good to update the Key Ring page with b42 stuff or is that a no
Should be good to update anything to b42. Just keep in mind the "Key Ring" is just about the plain Key Ring
My plans with raccoons are to exterminate them. Since trash cans have such a better loot pool now, I can't afford those bastards scavenging all the good shit before me
The variants will be created later
Never mind, the variants are created
yeah noticed that
was considering having a section on the main Key Ring page listing & linking to all the variants to make navigation easier
yeah, we use a "Variants" section for that https://pzwiki.net/wiki/T-shirt_-_Music_(rock)#Variants
And this template https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Item_list
More businesses https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Business_Card#Businesses
It is pinned in the site notice btw π
PZ is already conntected to Pentangon leaks, so what's a difference? π€· https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/12lmjq9/project_zomboid_just_made_it_into_an/
lol
Not sure if it was addressed, but seems like something to forward through @thin cloud I guess? (not really his department, but seems the closest)
I like how you literally took the example out of one of the most outdated image on the wiki π (unless you updated it recently)
yeah, but if it's more of a region or business π€ Pinging @naive imp and @lucid junco for ideas
definitely, the bags naming was unfortunate
Though "bags" as is was never a thing kinda. We had backpacks mostly and initially they were plastic/garbage/tote bags that were then, but then it expanded to things like first aid kit, sewing kit, toolbox etc.
yeah, saw them π
Remember when it was called "Baggage"? And the article for it was just a category π
true lol
oh wait, it's https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list#Bag βΒ but still, no problem with it being a cubcategory of containers
Unless while at it we want to somehow rename this again π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Containers
Huh, you're right. I'm probably still stuck in the pre-DisplayCategory days π
weird that a lot of those are labelled as bags though
I was actually planning on that... something like "Container (furniture)". I think items should take priority, personally
The separation between Bag and Container makes no sense. We have "Tote Bag" and "Plastic Bag" in Container, but "Ammunition Box" and "Basket" in Bag π Might just have to wing it, and do my own thing.
We'll keep the "wearbale" ones together, I think
Maybe something to forward for devs though, once we categorize it ourselves. Some items are plain wrongly categoriezed TBF
I mean we do our best to stay with the games categories, but we have to make some concessions sometimes
and we alreadyd had to do that in b41
Yes

Id make it a region
But also include the main airport as a part of the section (?)
Idk I'd say it's more of a location
When I think region I think like town or something
Or Doe Valley
Definitely a big location but idk if it's that big yk?
What do you think @hushed bobcat?
BTW thx for your work on locations, I'm project leader
I was super violently sick so you doing the initial echo creek table really helped out, just filling in and formatting suff now π
Its like Dixie mobile park and Crossroads mall combined
We do still count the Mall as just a location tho
Both actually and the grand Ohio is bigger
Grand Ohio seems bigger
But meanwhile Crossroads have more zombies lol
Grand Ohio is ehh not so bad
I mean, airport is both a large building with multiple businesses within it
And a lot of business within the fenced off area
Crossroads and GOM are the edge cases yeah. Maybe those should be changed to "Regions" kinda?
Wouldn't it aid with the confusion of having to categorize them both @naive imp?
To me both malls are of similar situation as Fallas Lake (which is a region, as it's named town, but belongs to Doe Valley), or maybe the mobile parks (Scenic Gove and Dixie Mobile park, or even things like Dixie Highway including parts of Muldraugh or Dixie area
Well I think fallas lake is more it's own thing not Doe Valley now
Since that we've got the name officially recognized
Tbh I think that the grand Ohio Mall and Crossroads Mall are good to have as locations but then they have their own categories
Bc they're so big they're kinda like both
Maybe we do airport the same way
probably yeah, whatever we decide it shouldbe the same as crossroads relation to valley station or grand ohio mall to lv
Imo the whole reason they have separate categories is bc they have lots of other businesses in them
And they have categories based in where they are and whatnot
I guess the airport could be considered its own region
Looking at it, it looks so huge, and is also fairly isolated compared to the rest of the Louisville
How to make cells in a table have equal sizes ?
Is it big? Sure, it's the nature of an airport to be large and spread. But I don't think it contains that many different types of rooms and internal locations. There is a gigantic (and empty) warehouse, a large area from hall and so on. At least yet, it just a large area
Do you guys have a better idea for a readable list of events than these
It is big
Both the main building and the overall area
Did we uploaded already all the fliers image? I'm seeing that some of those business fliers contain and address there (like the one on The Rusty Rifle, 820 dixie highway). My plan is, to check if it's possible to determine street names and eventually post a town map with the street names
Yes I did
And we do have that idea in mind
Its as big as March Ridge and Rosewood
whose Jake and whose Hannah?
this is the first time we've got names for people in the transcript but there's no indication on who's who
Yeah but I don't think there's enough of actual different areas and variety to determine its a region
The amz steel plant is pretty big too I'd consider that a location
Page wip btw
I mean yeah but Muldraugh's railyard is huge too and isolated that's a location
Idk this is kinda a gray area
Has anyone else seen the toilet brush holder texture hiding in the world map texture files?
ProjectZomboid\media\textures\worldMap
uh
I just added every flier in the game to the gallery on the flier page in the wiki: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Flier
I DID NOT add a single file to the wiki. I was only sourcing what already existed. Going through file uploads was annoying, but I'm thankful for people like @lucid junco and LethalCitizen for uploading some of them in a big chunk. We might be missing the Stuart & Log flier. I can't seem to find it.
Best to wrap the list in a div with the class list-columns. It'll display it in as many columns as will fit.
E.g.
<div class="list-columns">
* List here
</div>
This will automatically be 3 columns with a pre-set column width and max width.
You can modify the widths like this:
style="column-width:450px; max-width:1500px;"
So:
<div class="list-columns" style="column-width:450px; max-width:1500px;">
We avoid setting a width for columns as it causes issues with smaller displays. If you have to, should always use a percentage. I.e. style="width:25%"
Alright I'll try that thx
Looks great! I was looking at parsing a list of all the fliers along with their map coordinates last night. So hopefully I can add that soon too
Note street names are still a bit of a wip #pzwiki_editing message
You can find the fliers in their category https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Flier_images
Or @jolly crow has also just added them to the fliers page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Flier
I gonna see what I can compile, and share it here later
I do not recommend bothering with street names in the wiki. Pat confirmed that they're meaningless. You could find fliers that use different names for the same street.
I wouldn't say they're "meaningless", just all weren't added yet and weren't mapped. Compiling that list now would show these inconsistencies too.
That looks great !
I kinda agree with them tbh. They aren't much use and I haven't seen navigable street signs in game
When bumping moodle to recent version, I noticed we have this since 2011 https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Morale&oldid=547 βΒ does that mean morale was implemented and is obsolete now? Pinging @proud cobalt in case you stumbled on this with the old versions?
I've seen the wiki page but not the actual moodle
i'm pretty sure it's never actually been in the game
I'd have to imagine Morale was just what they called the unhappiness moodle back then or something?
Because it doesn't sound too different
it is technically true that you do gain/lose morale from certain actions and that morale eventually affects sanity but these are just internal numbers that don't do anything
"Morale can be increased by killing zombies" were all survivors in early builds violence lovers
i mean I have fun killing zombies
A bit like the phone numbers imo. Vaguely interesting to some, but not really helpful in any way
that's what i mean, the stats technically do exist, but they aren't indicated anywhere and don't do anything
I'm mostly curious about whether to label them as Obsolete (meaning they were present), or Future, which assume they are in the files but were never implemented (though future currently is fuzzy, as it might be a cut content at one point).
The wording back from 2011 suggests as if they'd be implemented at that time
Make sure to add plenty of warnings that it isn't functional/implemented since nobody reads things.
i will note that they still don't list any affects - i don't really know what was in the game in 2011 but you could write this page with just information available today
since everything here is technically true
I think the pages were created from a blog or forum post in 2011, not from the mechanics of the actual game
There was a thread of things they want to add, and that was one of them. I don't think it ever actually made it in the game in a functional state. But I could be wrong
Yeah, last updated 20 april 2011? That was tech demo days wasn't it
Yeah
So it could've been from a forum post, a dev talked about how they were gonna add morale or something, so this editor made a page about it, and eventually they got changed into being called unhappiness, maybe
that wrong version of "effects" really hurts me too
yeah, correcting this too π
Lol it hurt me too π
Common mistake I see tbh, lot of people just use "effected" or "effects" wrong
I've winged it my whole life
Affect Effect idk
like how you see a lot of people saying "loose" when they mean lose or some shit, really grinds my gears for no reason.
The thread was a well known one back then. It was linked on the future features page on the wiki (is it still?) it also had things like dogs and decapitation
Yeah, that's a thing, it gets updated occasionally still
it's not the mistake that hurts me so, it's how long that article has been up, forgotten to time
Makes sense, a lot of it wasn't accurate at this point. You had stuff that they were sure were never gonna get added like "real life weapons" or something.
But that's untrue as of 41 since that added M9s, M1911s, M16s etc.
Cause before that it was just "Pistol" or "Shotgun"
It's there, just that the link is dead
https://theindiestone.com/community/viewtopic.php%3Ff=24&t=1865.html
Ye it made snese to get rid of it. a lot of the stuff they confirmed was never being added, ended up getting added at some point.
That and the whole post was so you could post your suggestions and what you want to see in future updates, there were so many comments that your suggestions would quickly be drowned out.
i would understand even outright lying about this though. you know how online gun nuts are
Uh yeah pretty easy to see that whenever you see the Ammosexuals having a massive flame war over the most niche gun shit in pzchat for no reason
"ammosexuals" so real
although when WE have flame wars over wiki stuff it's justified, right guys?
Morale's still there in the game
oops, wasn't meant to be a reply π
but yeah, both Morale and Sanity are in the debug mode sliders.
wow, being called out for not knowing jack shit about the game really tanked my morale

I actually wanted to report with the "alot" meme, but couldn't find a gif on Discord π
oh my god, don't get me started on "alot" usage
Everytime I go into this chat like I know everything but then I get blindsided by the most basic shit out there
Ye I've been wiki editing for a few years now, I really don't know much tbh. I'm mainly just here for lore and easter eggs at this point.
Hey, I'm working on the Louisville airport page, and I'm kinda confused on one building. Can anyone help me understand what this building's supposed to be?
Some of the new B42 stuff is so straightforward and logical I have to remind myself of how obtuse B41 was, like apparently you can dismantle metal shutters now with welding equipment???
Is it a tower?
lifechanging stuff
If it is, could it be air traffic control maybe?
Morale goes from 0.5 to 1 but can't really be changed. Sanity can be changed from 0 to 1 btw. Both do nothing and have no moodle btw.
wait nah nvm, I just checked, that couldn't be airtraffic control
This would be that
I dunno what the hell that building is then
It looks like a staff training area
the most curious thing is that these do actually change in normal gameplay
this is what I think too
but obviously don't do anything anyway
pilot training kinda deal
but then you're gonna find a carving 1 book in there cause the pilot in training was bored or smth
Found this in a blog from 2016
and potentially the return of βinsanityβ effects if your survivor were to go entirely cuckoo.
https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2016/01/survival-impact/
Itβs been a really good week hearing your various nuggets of feedback on Build 33, watching streams while we code and constantly thinking that we should probably tone down the noisy dogs. Overall it seems to have gone down well, so on to the next one! Finalizing 33 The delightful EasyPickins has released build 33.15 [β¦]
True, but it also has some pretty important looking rooms on top, plus a communications tower.
Ye I'd have to imagine probably postphoned for a long while, since that was before cars, anims update, 42 etc. Probably more important stuff to add, reworks etc
Either that or scrapped entirely
I also can't read apparently π It seems to work in debug, not sure about the actual game
idk what insanity in zomboid would look like but I hope it's like the schizophrenia mod, seeing and hearing things that aren't actually there, etc.
This was right after mentioning adding VHS tapes, which as we know were only just added in b41 π
Well ye but I'd imagine VHS is much easier to implement than sanity mechanics, because you could really fuck up the gameplay with poorly implemented sanity mechanics I'd imagine
Whether it's future or not, I think pick either obsolete or future and that be it. Because we really don't know. Turbo would be deep in crafting now, so I don't think he'll be jumping back into working on sanity any time soon @languid kayak
Those VHSs can be pretty complicated if TIS wanted them to be, like the dog goblin tape spiking your panic, although I have no idea if there are any good ideas left to implement to VHSs
it's either future or future and obsolete
so future seems like the best way to leave it
gah don't remind me of dog goblin, I remember when I was searching for easter eggs for the wiki page, saw the most wild theory about it.
Some dudes thought that dog goblin vhs was a snuff film and that's why your character panics
no it's a cheesy horror movie lmao
imagine if after a month or so in you could find an actual snuff film, but instead of a human being killed it was a zombie
I've heard of that before, definitely doesn't make sense considering you can buy the VHS in retail stores
for the sick freaks outside the containment zone
there's no containment zone anymore
Not just that, I'd also have to imagine even if the film wasn't that scary. Your character is probably freaking tf out because this is the worst time to watch a horror movie. Imagine seeing the dead somehow resurrect and start eating the living. You wouldn't know what is real anymore. So it'd be pretty bizarre to go watch this horror movie during all that. Cause at that rate, dog goblin doesn't seem too far-fetched.
ah yes disassociating with reality
my favorite
and potentially the return of βinsanityβ effects if your survivor were to go entirely cuckoo.
return π€
reminds me of the time I wanted to make a mod with a VHS that could zombify your character
I've thought about horror movies during the apocalypse and I can never decide if it would compound your stress and fear or in a zomboid apocayplse you'd just be like "whatever I've seen worse"
OK Key Ring page has been updated, included info on the new items that can be stored on the key ring (lmk if there's any i missed there) and added variants section for the new key ring types.
(BTW, the capacities need to be updated, but I do not know how. lmk if you do)
or make a mod that makes it so watching the dog goblin vhs 3 times in one night causes the dog goblin to show up to your safehouse and maul you.
(albion said they do, just two different sliders but one doesn't do a thing)
I'd actually prefer a b41 hacky dogs
this gif gives me a headache
right around the middle of the gif is a perfect representation of the Dog Goblin
but instead he's like that all the time and has sprinter speed
and does 8x damage to barricades cause screw you, he's gonna getcha
I feel like he should just teleport
run too far and he shows up in front of you
Holy crap, there's a sick-ass private lounge on top of the airport with a barely-noticeable entrance!
You have to go up 2 floors of stairs to get there!
members lounge, I go to them sometimes when I travel, the bar is very accurate lol
got semi-drunk in one a couple days ago actually waiting for my flight
although 80s airport must have been DIFFERENT cause I can't remember the last time I saw actual wood in an airport that didn't have to do with construction
I wonder if you could get power to that whole room with a single generator
could probably do if you put it next to the AC unit on the roof
Yeah, that's what I wasn't sure about...
huh, it indeeds lowers with low morale
Looks great! Values in the infobox get updated automatically, so don't worry about them.
Also remember to update the version number in Page version
So
Should I do that even if i'm unsure if everything's properly updated? I'm not certain in particular about the Key Ring's whitelist.
Like i'm pretty sure you can put things on there that are in the Security category or things tagged with FitsKeyRing, but i'm not sure that's all
At this stage of b42, I think that if the majority of the content is updated, then it should probably change. Just so people don't think it has b41 features
I plan to autogenerate the items they can have. Looking into containers is next on my list
It's the "FitsKeyRing" tag btw. You'll also see some like "FitsWallet"
Security as well. Keys and padlocks dont have fitskeyring. I almost missed Blank Keys off of that
Sharing progress with the class
ok, updated Key Ring page to b42
Oh yeah, that'd be because of the "Type" it's something like "Key"(?) which adds that functionality
Okay, I bumped all the moodles now to 42.0.2, prompted by the changes started by CatInAHat few days ago β some may still need some verifications, but since they all have new infoboxes I bumped them all out.
These two still have verify tag for foraging, if someone can verify, it'd be great https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Stressed and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tired β would remove them from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_requiring_verification
I also know that alll navboxes are due to be updated, but I think b42 added some new moodle(s) too that are not present there yet?
Is that flier telling us that Riverside is in a different county, or just a typo from devs? afaik, right now we handle everything as part of Knox County π
Not everything is in knox county, the map is knox countRy
ohhh, I see. And do we keep track of the counties?
Not really, the map is based off real world Jefferson, Bullitt, Hardin, and Meade counties
Counties are only mentioned in b42 I believe. So I don't think it's been given much thought yet
Louisville International Airport is now up: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Louisville_International_Airport
Even includes information on the factories and businesses in the industrial zone next to the airport
Looks great! The first section should be "Overview" though, I think?
I'll improve it later when I get time
When you update the page version, you have to use the oldid from the original article. With the one you used 2=457767 it now links to the page cow. Instead all you have to do is change 41.78.16 to 42.0.2
Made same mistake lol
yeah, I've been correcting those π I kinda wait for a time when oldids can be removed. Guess we'll hear the most of TIS plans in the next week's thusdoid though how the work on that goes (I mostly wait for MP at that point to play properly, splitscreen with controller is not the same).
hey new contributor, sent an email to kirrus as the message asks, but thought id ask in here if anyone knows why i mightve been flagged. i figure its just that im trying to create a new page for knapping without prior contributions.
A bit unrelated, but I remember having a conversation here about independent wikis
Just found out that NIN wiki is also self hosted
Something tripped off the spammer check
It may be your email name, wiki name or something like that
Idk
ohhhhhh ....it has a filter for "spammerlike" emails? itd....probably be that then
my email has ALOT of fullstops in it....not the best email in the world π
Yeah, just contact Kirrus and say that it was probably a bot tripping off wrongly
I would say it was trying tomake a new page with 0 contribs
Uuuh
This isnt right..
Something feels a bit off, but I cant find it on the map to check for sure how it should look
P.S. Delilah
to be fair, I had to search the media files
I orient myself with logos by looking at how they were ordered in files
and this is how this one was ordered
Lilahs. Dep.
I assume it'd be in the right order most of the time
yeah π Delilah came to my mind, but was thinking maybe that's an easter egg of some sort
Managed to output flier location coordinates. The game defines 2 points to create a rectangle for updating the player's map. This is just the centre point of that rectangle. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_4
neat
Actually, the rectangle could be useful as well; the b42 map could support the POI drawing IIRC too, at least theoretically
If it's useful, I can add it easily
I've added the 2 coordinates. Just let me know how best to lay it out and what to and not to include https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_4
About the street names, that is what I have compiled so far:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Halwaru/sandbox
Feel free to include or send me any other reference you can find
Btw @digital helm , we can combine those two since I rely a lot on those fliers for the street name info π
halwaru wtf this is impressive af
There are still some doubts in some cases since the business could have front to two different streets. But there are cases like Olin road on riverside: that is probably the name of the road, but is also a state road with a big sign saying KY 163, but "the locals" still use the old street name. More and more lore (or a fanfic in my mind lol)
I wonder if someday most roads in PZ will be named
an NPC could give you a quest to go to β213 Parkside Driveβ or something
if they do this my theory is they'll get on the wiki to remind themselves of the street names like "what the hell did we already name and what didn't we?"
My biggest doubt is with Pile o crepe
Cause it doubles in size the LV, since it incorporates entirety of what we called Valley station
Yeah. That bearcamp road exists irl, and it doesn't look it is considered Louisville, it's a "Kentucky road"
Maybe a @thin cloud question then?
That is my main thought. If we can help devs on make our loved game even better, why not? Lol
EU residents playing PZ:
in that case I hope they do some more easter eggs, like the names of the wiki mods or smth like that, along with the standard american street names like maple, cedar, etc.
although rosewood is practically one street, main street
Not sure about the US, but isn't there a rule that the entrance has to face the street?
Also great job btw! I also noticed that some streets are not visible on the spawn map; maybe a regular top-down map would be better for mapping @hushed bobcat?
I was thinking the same, but without opening the game, that was the only full map that I was able to put my hands at that time. As I get more references (assuming those exists), I plan to make those images way better, for now, is just a way to put it initially
I think flyers are the only ones right now, yeah. The top-down map can be found on b42map.com btw too π
I assume this is correct? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Automated_Emergency_Broadcast_System&curid=14365&diff=778973&oldid=648391 (if so, turns out we had a wrong times for a while)
heli update time is correct, not sure about the other stuff though
learned that the hard way after checking the radio at 6AM and then going outside like normal
@proud cobalt any idea on where zombie outfits/types are stored now? π€
Ive seen in code that game has some specific zombies coded in now
Less "hard coded" like K&B, since those have their outfit defined within the same code
But they are coded somewhere separately and I'm not sure where
In clothing.xml. it only has GUIDs though, so you need to cross-reference it with fileGuidTable.xml
Unsure if we've generated the new outfits list @proud cobalt
Indeed. Including the coordinates here would be helpful
Great job with the street names btw
Can anyone tell me where the tile sprites are located in the game files? I want to get a name for the non-functional crafting stations.
In the pack files
pack files?
Ah
I don't think, no. I was halfway adding variants and cleaning existing outfits when b42 hit π
Unsure what your goal is, but the filenames on their own aren't very helpful. They're named things like this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Crafted_01_18.png
This page might be more helpful https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tile_list
Unsure what your goal is, but the filenames on their own aren't very helpful. They're named things like this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Crafted_01_18.png
Grr
has anyone made an updated list of all the literature items and what the gains are from them? some of it is updated on the wiki but not all
I've been working on literature. Been focusing on page content, but I should be able to put an updated list together fairly quickly
literature list updated for leisure items. Still very much WIP https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Literature#Leisure
You'd be surprised how much I use the wiki to look stuff up
I prefer boring street names, or you get into silly things like Romero Lane and King Street etc.
Street names are only semi-official as we haven't plotted them onto a map yet, which is the mapper's job eventually
Hello everyone, I wanted to initially contribute to the translation of existing content. To start, ideally you would read the guide. It turns out that all the content in the wiki guide is only in English from what I could see, is there any reason for this? Does it make sense to offer an option in another language? If so, I would start there.
Here's the translation project which can help you get started. Otherwise there's the translation help section.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Translations
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations
Thank you @proud cobalt and my question was precisely about that.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Translations offers only in English
While
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations
offers English, Turkish and Chinese
Which language are you looking to translate? I will be able to help better if i know how much has been started for it
Portuguese, which means pretty much nothing , unfortunately π₯²
Ahh yes, there hasn't been much started on Portuguese. I would recommend looking at the home page as a starting point. then moving on to some of these links.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Wiki/pt
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Community_portal
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Contents
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Templates
Otherwise if you're interested in helping, its possible to translate a file for us and we can use it to upload item pages in Pt
The most important template to do would be infobox item IMO
Sure, i will start with that
Progress is slow, but it's happening π
They added Breckinridge County now (Irvington)
actually i do think i remember seeing a flyer with 'meade county' referred on it, but i cant remember which one it was
Riverside police station?
! Yes
What is considered a minor edit?
Imo formatting or grammar changes
makes sense. Thanks
just saying i don't think the riverside police would like my gun table setup next to the oven
The one that you mark with the minor edit checkbox
But yeah, its mainly formatting
Im not sure what's the difference between minor edit though
It still shows up in recent changes
I leave all my guns in a wooden crate fully loaded, think theyβll like that?
The sign is off in each section
(Holy shit it takes ages to load it for some reason)
Anyway
I dont need a map for that
I feel like Ikip was onto something when he made the signs so jaggered and misaligned
oh.. oh no
How it looks with straight text
As much as Id like to fix it myself, it is beyond fucked
I may or may not attempt it, but I will say that only the God, the John Zomboid himself can fix it
Keep in mind we host both Portuguese (Portual), and Brazilian Portuguese, similar to how the game ships (though it may change later down in b42 with hired translation studio), the latter is pretty much all the content we host it turned out after we split them. If you spot text that is wrongly categorized as pt and not pt-br, let me know!
nothing really. It's just another filter that editors can choose when watching recent changes and it's amrked in the history. I am to blame often doing minor edits that are not-so-minor (default for me is minor)
I think I'm blind; what's wrong with the logo?
Just follow the straight lines in the text and you will see it
ah that. I though it was something on what Alluseri posted. But yeah, that's sadly the issue with many multi-tile things π©
(even in-game)
And if we try to align it by text, the outer layer breaks
Ive tried my best to fix it
But its noticable if you look at logo
Who is A1
We have A1 laundry and a1 hay
It cant be a coincidence
technically it can π€
A-1 Laundry was theoretized to be conntected to the Breaking Bad but it was later removed as it seems it's a generic laundry
I made a spread sheet on google last night with every literature piece in game if you want it lmao, only thing I excluded from the list was the mail pieces like postcards etc
@digital helm do we need a first issue available table here? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Comic_Book#Variants (all are "1")
oh, it's for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Comic_Book_(retail)#Variants
Though I still dont' think it's needed? Sounds like simple "last 4 issues" would be enough?
My focus is Portuguese (with the code pt)
so the Portugal one?
Yes
maybe someone REALLY likes A1 sauce
@hushed bobcat is that for b42 or both? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Weather&curid=2819&diff=779079&oldid=616295 I guess for both, right? If so, then I wonder if I should just bump the version number and whether to keep oldid as well π Same story as I have with https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Automated_Emergency_Broadcast_System&curid=14365&diff=778973&oldid=648391 that's why it's still on 41.78.16 even if it's been chcecked on b42 (but should be true for b41 as well)
Didn't checked the b41 code so it could be different for sure. I can try eventually, but it's for sure a b42 code that I used
Hey @naive imp ,
That page with the initial street names,
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Halwaru/sandbox
could be moved to be searchable/linked if we want, I'm just not sure where to move it. Ideas?
I'm not sure where to put it either
Maybe just keep it as sandbox for now until we need it?
Or if you want you can copy or move it to another subpage of your userspace?
this is not how layers work
ok no nevermind im dumb
i have difficulty perceiving isometric billboards clearly
I don't mind either way. Simple enough for me to change if you think it's necessary
I appreciate that, but most lists are being auto-generated directly from the game files, just need to finish setting them up
A check to the minor edit box signifies that only superficial differences exist between the current and previous versions. Examples include typographical corrections, corrections of minor formatting errors, and reversion of obvious vandalism. A minor edit requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. An edit of this kind is mar...
Sometimes I miss that there isn't a Pull Request somehow. There are changes that we can do, but I'm not 100% sure about formatting, or wording, and a second eyes could be very useful. But that of course slows down everything since it removes autonomy, so it's for sure not a single fits all kind of thing. But how one usually "proposes" such changes? On sample that comes to my mind is the split of Lousiville page into smaller neighborhood areas, then connecting everything into a parent page. It could be a lot of changes, not sure that would look better, so we need to experiment and get opinions on it. Is there a proposal model somehow for changes?
Sandbox pages
As Calvy said.
I think splitting Louisville into neighbourhoods could be good. The page is getting to the point of being too long
Like we have the buttons at the top of the page for the item lists and crafting, we can do that for these regions too, to help with navigation
Looking at it, I think we could treat the Louisville page similar to the Knox Country page, which treats the districts as regions, and only list the main POIs. Then all the businesses could be moved to the individual district pages
Not as experienced at wiki editing as you guys, so all of you definitely have more weigh in this decision that me, but I figured I'd throw my hat in and say that I'm not happy with how the page looks at the moment, but splitting the page into different sections would be a bit confusing for some at the moment, especially since the only system we could use that matches what we already have are the districts, which there are 9 of, and I'd rather have 1 long page over 9 separate pages. There are other things we could do to shorten the length, but the only idea I have is to reformat the businesses section to reduce the bloat of unnamed businesses, although with the current formatting tools we have access to, I'm not sure how feasible this would be.
Again, totally deferring to you guys on the proper steps forward though.
What would be tough about the unnamed businesses however would be how to go about including their coordinates in a concise, clear way.
Which page?
I think the main issue with the Louisville page is that it remains unfinished at this point and probably will be for a bit. I don't necessarily think that the page being long is bad though
I mean the survival guide is crazy long, still works well
The main issue is that the list of businesses is automatically expanded
And I propose a different solution here
Instead of linking them all back to the parent page, why don't we split the list of businesses into separate sections per district, and have them collapsed by default?
I mean think about it, for each district page, it'll just be:
"There are houses here, businesses there, and x amount of zombies"
Then list of named locations
And then what to we do for the infobox?
Do we really need another page for that? I don't think we do
Once you collapse the list of named locations the page gets quite short actually
Maybe we should have all those list collapsed by default?
On all towns?
Can always redirect the business list to the separate sections, like Vail said, it'd be similar to the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_Country listing maybe just the main businesses in each district (if at all). Then we can list even the minor ones on the dedicated page, if we want to
True, although hereβs a bit of a thought, I never thought that the people of Knox Country actually referred to it as Knox Country in game. Always thought it was a meta term for the map
Quite unrelated to the Louisville discussion though
Muldraugh is a small town in an area the locals know as "Knox Country" - the dead center of the State of Kentucky.
From the Muldraugh page π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Muldraugh
I think of it as a colloquial term used by the locals, not any official name
I agree, the fact that it's still a work in progress doesn't help at all.
For me, that page is a nightmare to navigate, to the point I probably wouldn't bother. Largely because the tables are so long, so scrolling to where you might want to get is a bit of a chore, so collapsing definitely helps. Even with using the TOC. I think that a goal for the TOC is that when you expand a level 2 heading (==) you can see that entire section (on an average screen size). This image is a 3rd of the entire length (at 1080px).
So the really long tables combined with the nearly unusable TOC, I think navigation is a big problem. Which would be fixed by doing something similar to the Knox Country page. You're not losing any info, you're just removing the bloated businesses, and if people want to read more, they can navigate to that page. This is the purpose of the Main and See templates. I personally would much prefer this as a reader, so I could find the info I'm after, but also get a gist of what's on the page.
By "long" though, I also mean that it's big file size-wise https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:LongPages. This month it's averaged a load time of 7.4 seconds. Ideal is probably less than 5. So it's probably not too long yet, but it's definitely getting there. Plain text is quicker than tables and templates.
That's just my thoughts. Either way, I'm happy to help with templates, etc. if needed.
Yeah it's a hot mess currently. Can sections start collapsed by default? If so I'd like to experiment with this a bit
dammn, i didnt remember it to be that bad
Yeah, in class just add mw-collapsible mw-collapsed
Yeah it's BAD
At the end of the section header? Like ==example mw-collapsible mw-collapsed==
Or like ==example== mw-collapsible mw-collapse?
nah in the table.
{| class="wikitable theme-red mw-collapsible mw-collapsed"
Oh you asked about sections
Oh I was talking about the section itself
Sections can't, no
Damit
That would be useful for other things
But can still try w the tables and see how it looks
I mean... you probably could π€
Wouldn't you have to do some code work though?
A lot of other wiki have collapsible sections, strange that pz doesn't tbh
it'd be something like
<div class="mw-collapsible-content">text to collapse</div>```
(but not exactly that, the class is something different
Do you have a wiki example? I can take a look at how they do it
I just realized a lot of the ones I was going to mention either are Fandom wiki or use wiki.gg
Wait
Nope nvm
Satisfactory is wiki.gg too
Shit
And satisfactory isn't even collapsible
Jesus I need sleep
that should be fine tbh
I'm SLOW
Here's a collapsed heading example https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_2 expand button is on the far right though
Oh Fandom not dealbreaker?
Here's the long dark wiki then
It's still mediawiki/css/json so can at least look
Have at it my friend
am I blind, or do I not see collapsed headings?
Nah they're there
Holup
I am on mobile tho?
dont have them on PC ig
Fucc
but dont we have them too?
We can do something like that, it would be on the far right though, so not really visible for PC users
for level2 headings, yeah
ah i see
Wait so we could ad-hoc it with a level 2 heading for now while we figure out a better solution
But maybe that'll look like shit
if possible, i would.
Is there a way to avoid the far right? Or put it on the far left?
So it's more visible?
Still probably look like crap but while we figure it out?
Yep. I could probably copy the current level 2 heading toggle https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_2 this would just need some css to add the arrow to the left
("Heading") is clickable
Bruh the fucking you're is wrong
That bothers that crap outta me
This would require a template though... something like instead of ===Heading===
me too
I don't think that's so bad, we won't be using it for every heading
Just these problematic ones
I'll try to put it together then
This would only be a thing on citizen skin though. Keep that in mind
Oh is it not possible in vector? That sucks. Would it glitch out in vector?
I could do it. It's just more work π
Lol I gotchu
At the very least I'll make it function. Just may not have the toggle arrow
I think most readers use citizen anyway, I just like vector more personally
at first
So just click the header text?
yeah
Maybe we should add a note that says "click to collapse" or something
On the template
But that'd be more work
Maybe ill just use note and put it below it for now lol
That should work until you get around to putting the toggle arrow on it
You good man I have no right to complain about lazy
Anyway ima sleep I worked 11 hrs at the autoshop today, fuckin exhausted
Gn yall
I have to get up at 0900 for personal reasons and it's 0415 kill me
Maybe one day I'll learn
Goodnight, good luck π
A very late note, tile sheets may not be available due to sertain categories having too many or too large images within it
It does try so make them separate, but in the end overflows and you get results like this
There is currently no solution for that, all you can do is to create a separate tilesheet yourself
@digital helm the business names are from the fliers themselves right? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_4
Might need cross-checking for the names, similar to other literature items (though this one's simpler)
business names are from translation files Print_Media_EN and Print_Text_EN
There's no pull requests, but a similar mechanism called patrolling: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Patrolled_edits
I go through every non-bot non-admin edit and manually put them as patrolled, and if something's wrong I fix that.
It's mostly me doing that, but technically any other admin can do the same, I'm just the most picky π
That's why you often see me asking out of blue about random edits or fixing whitespaces or pinging folks about their edits, these are also what fuels the summary.
Some wikipedias (I know Polish one at least) have "unreviewed" edits, so that a group of users have to confirm changes, but some error on the wiki is not as hurting as wrong medical information (wich Wikipedia should never be used on the first place), so I don't think we need it, especially at our scale.
Patrolled edits is a feature which allows certain users to mark new pages and items in Special:RecentChanges as "patrolled", meaning that at least a basic review was performed. A good edit might be marked as "patrolled", but a bad edit might also be marked as "patrolled", if it was reverted or its most obvious regressions were fixed. By default ...
which are from a reference file which the fliers use for building the name. So yes
oh yeah, and sandbox π Generally best to create a /sandbox (any naming really) subpage on the userspace, but some templates for example and main page even has links to /sandbox in them to experiment π
There may be more on that page than there are actually in the game. I just noticed I've skipped a step in my output. The coordinates match the businesses though, they just may not all be used for fliers (current fliers)
but the names are like that, Verbatim? I have at the back of the name to compare the names from all sources (radio, signs, literature), though no ETA on that π
oh nvm (I realized I skipped some messages, was trying to catch on conversations)
just realised some could be wrong. Might be getting some from the wrong translation file. Getting some from Print_Text instead of Print_Media. I'll fix it now
Is it realy blue moo or am I missing a piece
moo as in cow mooing, it'd be possible
blue moon?
seems like a word play on moon and moo sound, but best to check in game/map π
not sure where this loc is
Me neither
This seems like an issue caused by creating tiles? I wonder if TIS has the original conbine tiles?
I think it's still mash doing them?
Collapsed boxes would work too, but:
- Big pages are long to load, especially on mobile βΒ especially since the collapsed boxes still have to be loaded first
- Splitting with main is not a abd idea if we can, even Wikipedia uses that if page is too long, as it's unweidly.
- At worse we can transclude subpages as we do with items and businesses, but with too much templates, we may hit a node limit.
Balatro reference
if we assume that R is an L
N is a T
D is a R
A is an O
and S doesnt exist
and yeah, pretty much Vail summed it up mostly fine; the Main would be most notable one.
- won't help. It's essentially the same as having it on the page, it just makes it so you don't need to edit something in multiple places, it's still loading just as many elements
They can, but it's a hacky solution
They used to be like that in the old Project Translation, but I decided to remove it, as it wasn't clear to the reader I believed https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=PZwiki:Project_Translations&oldid=558869#Translation_progress
Though feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and see how it was done in that oldid
@naive imp Template created. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:ToggleHeading
Test in a sandbox and let me know if any issues. I only recommend this as a temporary solution, that will probably end up being permanent tbh π
Not yet set up for vector. It works, just no arrow is displayed
I half did this as a warm-up for eventually doing the infobox, navbox, and toggle box arrows.
Yeah, I immediately remembered you could. That's basically how this template works
That's better example probably π
They may use custom templates or extensions, but are still mediawiki, so generally no. You just have to avoid ads.
I think I posted that, but here's my ublock filter I used when I was editing Cyberpunk wiki that allowed me to do edits without ads (I commented out entries that were preventing that, not sure how well it works now):
https://gist.github.com/Faalagorn/0d9dbac615fc20ddd7161b3066a1d48f
There are more extreme filters if you just want to browse, too.
ours should be collapsible on mobile too (yeah, realized later it's not just mobile, I think I was using them myself :P)
That one feels strangely intentional?
(Also, do we have the texture for this logo?)
Your seeing alot of mistakes in it's script.
I think that's what sharp was doing. Straightening the logos before uploading them to the wiki
sounds about my usual sleep schedule π β (don't take examples from me)
yeah, saw the discussion later too
Tools working
One option that I was considering for the Louisville location table was to abuse of it vertically, and have a single table like this. Then one could easy find what they are looking for in terms of business ( I need a grocery store nearby), but we lose the track of individual places... unless, instead of listing the coordinate, we list the name of the business with just a small link to the coordinate. I will try later with some real samples, but I highly depends on the b42map for it, so it could take a while π
I put just one place/coordinate on each cell, but we could have multiple, just separated by comma or whatnot
Really split on that
It leaves out a lot of info for looks
But it indeed looks nice
Ideally, all those locations (even the generic ones) could have a dedicated entry (page?) and all the availabe metadata (coordinates, city, neighborhood, business brand, etc) would be concentrate there in an infobox-ish standard way. So tables like this one would be automatically populated by simple filtering everything on Louisville grouping by business type (or something on those lines). We would have it automatically for any town and any brand page (since the filter then is the business name grouping by region). But that is probably to much for a wiki tool to handle right?
Not every business is valuable
So why we list then in a table then? π€·ββοΈ
Main priority for the wiki is to be informative and contain valuable info, so having 100 pages about unnamed restaurant (Central Louisville Commercial District) with something like "It has a kitchen, dining room and a bathroom" is something Id like to avoid
Because it exists, the list is there to compile every business there is in the region
No matter how small and valueless it is for the player
Is there anything that is not a page, but could be used for something like that? (Be an entry)
Like Grocery store, General store, Convenience store pages?
Yeah, but we end up with cross references: we list the laundromat in the laundromat page, then we list the same laundromat in Louisville. Is there a way to point to a single instance only once? So next update, if the place moves a few tiles, we update the coordinates only once
Asking because for more that I like a table like this
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Halwaru/sandbox_2
It will be hell trying to maintain a long table with so many columns. It's doable, but it requires lot of effort to no mess it, so I'm looking for ways to automate it
Currently, the only way to do that is with a template. But you'd end up with 1000 templates. It'd be a good use of Lua once we get the extension
I really like the use of rgb here
Seems to complicated, also wide tables may not really be good for mobile
My concern too
Well we have two issues (not including the fact that some of the louisville page isn't finished), either the page is extremely long, or we use Halwaru's extended table idea and give up mobile friendliness, although looking at it on my mobile, it's not too bad in the example given.
Originally my plan for this was to have all those unnamed businesses be linked to in a general page like liquor store, and then remove all the individual ones for it and instead have one big one
So instead of restaurant coords xxxx
Restaurant coords xxxx
Restaurant coords xxxx
It would be
Restaurant coords
Xxxx
Xxxx
Xxxx
Xxxx
Xxxx
Xxxx
Xxxx
Xxxx
With a link to the general page that lists the unnamed ones
We can use bots for that
@proud cobalt has CalvyBot
This is my main issue @hushed bobcat
Every place has to be listed
It's just how do we do it that looks better
What do you think of this @hushed bobcat? I'll put a sandbox together rq holup
I think this is a simple solution that we don't have to overthink that makes it way more readable
now we have this
isntead of these
but that's just for the restaurant section
I don't think we can get around the length issue but this is a good way to make it not an eyesore
This is much better than what we currently have. But doesn't really save that much space, just less repetition
I don't think we can get around the space issue
Without compromising the amount of info we have
And I think it looks way better
True. Could set something elaborate up with a database, or just a simple "replace this with that". The latter is much quicker and easier, but takes it out of the editor's hands a bit more
Well obviously we discuss before
Holdup a sec
What if we put two coords per line
Lemme see
@naive imp I just realised I messed spectacularly with the template... I'll have to fix it. Currently can't add any content to the section π
Lmao you're good bro
what do we think of this? @digital helm @lucid junco? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:ThinkDock1721/sandbox#Restaurants_%26_Entertainment
@hushed bobcat too
2 coords per line? Could save some space that way I think it looks good actually
comparing them side by side its not MASSIVE but I think it'll addd up
Looks fine. Might be worth not having the line break and just having all on the same line, that way the column will only be as big as it needs to be
Would be good to see at least
lemme try
Because it'll create the line breaks automatically
Thought of this because I didn't notice any difference since I'm on mobile π and it's all on different lines
Actually, may not be great. It adds the line break between the icon
What about a collapsible div saying "coordinates". Then initially, the cell will always have only that, someone need to manually open it
Nah. Because of this #pzwiki_editing message
agreed
I think that may be overcomplicating things but not too sure
I'm not a wikitext wizard tho could you put the code for that for me?
or just edit the sandbox ig idk
I could try tomorrow, for sure. Need to say that with the combined row things are waaaay better, great job. We just need to find a good spot for the cells now
I subscribe to the philosophy of keep it simple stupid
lol
Unfortunately I'm a very visual person, and for some reason I kind of hate tables, so I'm always looking ways to make those look less boring. But you are right, sometimes it's just about keep it simple
Same tbh. I think they're pretty ugly π
functional tho
thats my whole style
tables and bulleted lists all the way
I like bulleted lists. Less claustrophobic
But tables are needed for these things. I get that
Poor kentucky farmers
-- farmer:getFreeRecipes():add("Hemp Growing Season"); -- it's illegal in Kentucky in 1993 so Nope! Leaving the commented out code to flag this.
smh, can't have shit in Kentucky
I like that these comments are added. Stops people like us and modders reporting bugs π
Ok i havn't parsed products yet, but in case anyone wants to have a look at the format, this is the first test of full template output. Have to limit the shown table to 200, but all the recipes are in. Approx 800. You can swap them in and out of the template if you want to try view a different one.
Currently the entire page is generated, including the documentation. There are some known issues, some traits and skills not translating properly mostly.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Recipe_list/sandbox
Thanks to @digital helm we have all the tag templates, which helps to visualise it
I might add icons to magazines and schematics? Just visually helpful
Putting each unique unnamed business into one category? Fine ig
Ive listed them separately since most of them are technically not identical to each other
Some are 100% copy pastes and were in one group already
Magazines, schematics and traits when they get done might help, yeah. Would be good if we had icons for skills
Oh you've done traits. Icons for them too would help
Was there a reason for moving the product to the right? Unsure if it's weird to me because it's change or if it should actually be on the left
Is there support for skill icons already? I'd have to look at it
Skills don't have icons. Unless that's new in b42?
It feels more natural going left to right, ingredients, tools, requirements, then the outputs
I mean traits
Ah, in our project? No, not yet
I get that. I think it's because of how you would normally structure a table, with the first column being the 'category' for the row
Kind of related. For crafting, I see a lot of wikis have a separate section for "what it makes" and "how to make it" (with different wording). When we rollout, do you think we should have these subsections in the crafting section?
Would be helpful for items that are used in a lot of recipes
Yes that's the plan. The goal is to be able to automate out tables for every item, with a seperate table for it being a product or an ingredient
the minor nit is that icons in the second "column" don't align, not sure we'd want to address that?
oh wait, that kinda would solve it too
some minor issue [[file:['GoldSheet.png']]]
I was thinking a non-breaking space might help with the icon line separation. Just not sure how that works with images since they're a separate element
Yeah, I pointed that one out too
@naive imp I've 'fixed' the heading template. So it's actually usable now. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:ToggleHeading
Currently it's not ideal for tables though, which was the whole point of it. I could fix this, but might be a little more annoying to use.
- Current usage. The section content becomes part of the template, so pipes
|and equals=can't be used. Soandwould need to be used instead.

- Proposed usage (unimplemented). I can create a 'footer' template which would fix this issue, but it means a separate template needs to be added at the bottom of the section. Which isn't ideal. Also the heading/id would have to be identical to the heading template.
This is the heading
~This text will be hidden~
This is the heading
Let me know what you think.
Fixed this. So the icon and text should never separate, for the Coordinates template.
Updated the business/coordinates list, so the correct ones are displayed for the brochure and flier https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_4
Also, seems like some of these "fliers" are brochures and not fliers. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Flier#Gallery I think the protrait ones are fliers, and horizontal are brochures.
Ok ive added products π
This means its just bug finding, fixing, handling weird cases, visuals, etc.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Recipe_list/sandbox
About 750,000 bytes added
Formatted the images to be the same as current sizing
Also added pixel art class
Its nice to finally see a table with all the colums filled
Yeah i need to fix this still too

@kind sphinx This isn't it, we shouldn't even give an ETA as we're all volunteers and do what we can when possible. But a month is not gonna be close.
#pz_b42_chat message
My bad! Idk what was going through my head either in retrospect that is ridiculous
Will refrain from commenting on stuff like that in the future, especially since Iβm not nearly as active or familiar with the wiki as the rest of you guys
while wiki is never done, it also depends on what generally "done" encompass π€. But yeah, generally no ETA as a rule of thumb is probably the best π
Didn't read the whole convo, but basically best to just point folks to see what version is at the top (and instruct editors to bluntly update it), then https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version is the rough estimate on progress (but not a metric of weight, some page are not equal other).
also some pages are listed in both categories currently, and some are only autogenerated
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance links to other such metrics
Gotcha, talking about zomboid related items and ETAs probably isnβt a good idea thinking about itπ
Should stick with my usual response, SOON β’οΈ
No problem, just saw it while doing my usual browse of wiki related messages. I just don't want people to get the wrong idea for us either is all. Still appreciate your help lately
Yeah it's because the page version hasn't been updated but the CodeBox (retrieved template) has. As we get further along into B42 it will open up as to what is stuck on old versions (like 42.0.1 now)
Nah donβt want to cause any hassle for you or the rest of the wiki team, so Iβll be more careful with my language with the wiki in here as I am with the language on the wiki itself, and I ought to thank you for all the work you put in
Also will get back to creating missing pages and getting the barebones layout and basic information down, just been traveling the last couple of days.
On a related note, I was doing some scrolling of the recent changes and saw someone created the sanitorium page but the whole thing needs a formatting and language overhaul in its current state https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Sunderland_Hills_Sanatorium
So Iβll probably work on that while Iβm sitting in the airport
I think there's actually least to work as far as missing pages go, I still have some catching up to all the work you did in January, but basically https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance (autogenerated) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks (it wasn't much updated after b42 though and some initial tasks lost their purpose in favor of b42 stuff) or projects themselves (best to consult leaders on what are plans for action/things wanting most work in them are) are the best starting points
Oh no
Gotcha, will direct my focus there!
Although after this sanitorium page because I would feel remiss if I left it in that state
again :D?
oh right, new locations, yeah, those need writing, forgot that many of those don't exist π
I think this was my fault. I may have forgotten to update the item infoboxes after adding a parameter π
If you feel like taking a break from locations, the b42 project needs some love too π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Build_42_Update#Subprojects

when b42 mp drops, the influx will be huge I guess; you'd have to compare to b41 mp.
To be fair, most people joined in the last couple of years. I remember how excited I was was it hit more than 2x the previous record for consecutive players which was something like 3500 π
This is lofty but my prediction is consistent top 20 steam position, either when B42 stable hits or NPCs coming back in B43
Ok i did some basic formatting on this, it still has some major work that needs to be done, but not really my wheelhouse atm, at least it looks like a wiki article now though.
