@languid kayak I'm absolutely down to swap with Pohly. Sorry I didn't check earlier, I forgot to turn on pings for this discord as I have them off by default.
I'd be more than happy to help Locations and Maps get some proper traction.
On top of that, I've noticed that Ikip's edits tend to more so lay the groundwork for other editors. It's very important, but I'm not sure that translates to active leadership well.
I don't mind either, I hope Ikip won't mind too, I'll swap you guys, but the whole leadership is just for the sake of it being active, luckily we don't have any edit warring or conflicts on PZwiki 😛
Yeah, that would go against the spirit of the wiki. I appreciate all that you do. I think some guidelines on a general format for location articles could help greatly with the consistency of information. I'm aware we have a style guide, maybe adding it to the main page of locations and maps could help?
yeah, I have something like that in mind; we have https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Boilerplates but they are just for items and they need updates too
I could create one for locations, based off the ones I use in my current edits.
hi! is it known that the PZ ID Grabber listed under https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Dedicated_server#Installing_Mods doesnt seem to work?
im working on an alternative in case that one is permanently broken (edit: its live on https://pz.kiwigrape.io/)
I have no experience with using it, so I can't help you there. It looks like it was only added a couple of months ago. May be worth sending the author a message on Reddit or their talk page on the wiki
https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/158k3ze/automatically_grabs_all_of_the_workshop_and_mod/
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Dedicated_server&type=revision&diff=134645&oldid=121773
i might look into editing that section of the wiki entirely, it's a little confusing too
good to know the website creator has a reddit, gonna try contacting later
@languid kayak please check the changes I did here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:T.
If used, I think it can help translators by a lot, as it will "automate" even the custom descriptions if they are registered in Translate
I didn't have time to check all the recent changes in the lpast few days, but I don't see any changes in here? Oris it sandbox?
Good to include and looks good! I just updated the link to "Tr" (the displayed text gets changed when it's a redirect) @languid kayak it's the doc https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:T/doc#Translation_inside_the_T
@tough depot https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Food&curid=11541&diff=147047&oldid=147017 Game is accurate description for animals that are hunted, but I guess animal might be less confusing for non-native English speakers while still being correct 😉
Game or quarry is any wild animal hunted for animal products (primarily meat), for recreation ("sporting"), or for trophies. The species of animals hunted as game varies in different parts of the world and by different local jurisdictions, though most are terrestrial mammals and birds. Fish caught non-commercially (recreational fishing) are also...
@naive imp I saw you edited https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Churn_R_Us – do you think it's better to separate locations by <br>s? or commas? I separated some using commas, but <br>s might indeed be better; guess I should change it eventually? 🤔
c.f., https://pzwiki.net/wiki/GigaMart - but yeah, brs might be better
(in infobox)
I also sort the locations alphabetically, but I guess "The Grand Ohio Mall" should be sorted under "G", not "T", I believe?
(I went ahead and changed the GigaMart one)
I think <br> just looks cleaner. I prefer br.
I recently noticed that we don't have a distinguish template like many other wiki do, such as the ARK wiki. (This article is about x, not to be confused with x)
I feel like it could be useful if we had one. I'm not very experienced with templates, just throwing out a suggestion for those who are 😀
we have {{About}} for that
can make an alias for another name if you want 🙂
Yeah, recently figured that out as I'm fleshing out car part pages. Learn something new every day!
Question for folks: how do we feel about the Hot Cuppa and Hot Teacup items? I was having a hard time finding an actual recipe for Teacup to mirror the Hot Cuppa article. A quick google search seemed to imply that Hot Cuppa and Hot Teacup were folded into a salad-like format entirely and no longer exist, and are just Beverages now? But the code for both items seems to still be in the files?
Pardon if this is an easy answer, I have wet oatmeal for brains today and the Hot [insert here] articles code is a bit different.
Cause otherwise all that's left is, well-
timon and pumba like behavior but food is food and the red links will be purged
I've just looked this up and was surprised to find that they've been removed. 🙁
The recipes were definitely there in earlier build 41 builds.
Seems they're only craftable through the 'beverages' (Hot Drink) now. The "Hot Cuppa", "Cold Cuppa" and "Hot Teacup" recipes don't exist anymore.
So they should be added to the "removed items" list and linked to the Recipe ingredients page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients#Beverage_Ingredients
Awesome work with the build 41 project too!
I should have asked sooner rather than fussing over it for days, but I just wanted to do my due diligence. Thanks for the confirmation to put my mind at ease! And lol, thanks- it's good to know I'm being of help! It's a nice day when the forces of hyperfixation can be used for the common good.
I didn't spend much time on the recipes lately, but I know there were issues; originally some folks requested some drainable items to be added and that caused issues
I'm trialling a change to the Code section on pages, so feedback is welcome before rolling out to more pages, the style guide and boilerplates.
On some pages the code section is very long and means nothing to the vast majority of users. So, this'll hide the Code section when a page is loaded, but can be shown if needed. This uses {{CodeBox}} for hiding the section, and can be used with {{CodeSnip}} for the code formatting.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:CodeBox
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:CodeSnip
Here's a working example: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tarp#Code
Here's an example of where it'll be useful: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hunting_Knife#Code
The idea is thanks to some edits by User:Kienlabadao and style heavily inspired by bg3.wiki (https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Template:SpoilerBox)
We may also use something like this for spoilers, if they become more prevalent in future updates.
how to up MUNNETION very rapid?
Hey i was thiking about making a wiki page . can someone hlep me?
looks good; I just did a quick minor copy-writing changed your note to {{Underconstruction}}, remove it when you're done working on the page 🙂
We had this discussion https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Talk:Hair_Genesis on the name of this. Anyone can confirm the real name? The sign and map mention the "o", but the ID not, and some old translations don't mention it too. I'd have to check how the sign looks in 1x tiles too.
Took a while, but I just did that now 😄
Just minor spaces fixes; you can see the differences if you want, didn't update the other languages
New monthly wiki summary is up 🎉 This time it's the first Sunday of the October summarizing September, mostly by me forgetting, but might stay that way as described, in the blog post. 🙂 Thanks to everyone who contributed (you are all likely mentioned folks) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:News#October_2023
thank you
I figured if I'm going to touch the wiki I should probably be in the discord to make sure I'm doing it right. If I goofed anything too hard on the Bulletproof Vest page while trying to update it please let me know so I can not do that to any other pages I touch 😅
@languid kayak I think the vehicle manufacturer pages should be listed in infobox vehicles instead of infobox businesses since they don't have a factory in game to actually visit. Thoughts? I'll discuss with Ikip as well.
Wel, technically they are businesses same as radio companies, though indeed, they got their locations in Louisville 🤔
I'm indifferent to be honest right now. 😄 Didn't think about it, I'll maybe think about it, but no promises when
Understandable. I'll see what Ikip thinks and make a decision then.
I know the navboxes are crucial to functionality so wanted to run that by you
nah, it's fine 😄 I just literally didn't think about it and probably too tired to think it clear 😉
I was planning to have a look at the business and location infoboxes, to see where they can be improved and better differentiated.
The business infobox should be a better fit imo (can make some changes if needed). Each vehicle model should use the vehicle infobox, as that was more intended for each vehicle model, rather than the manufacturer
Why not have them included in both? I mean, they are related to vehicles and are technically businesses as well.
I've also discussed with Ikip about splitting up infobox businesses by indivual towns, creating categories for each in place of the "retail and stores" etc etc. That we currently have. We seem to both like the idea. Thoughts?
We could also incorporate the current categories as sub categories if desired
But if you add businesses by town how do you plan to solve businesses that have more than one location? I saw recently that e.g. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hit_Vids! was merged from the separate pages
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Hit_Vids!_(Louisville_North)&redirect=no
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Hit_Vids!_(Louisville_Northeast)&redirect=no
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Hit_Vids!_(Louisville_West)&redirect=no
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Hit_Vids!_(March_Ridge)&redirect=no
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Hit_Vids!_(Muldraugh)&redirect=no
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Hit_Vids!_(Riverside)&redirect=no
In Cyberpunk wiki they have separate pages, we seem to have follow the one page per business; do you plan to list the general article in each town?
That's what I had in mind. Since the overview article already had the locations and coordinates of individual franchises, we could just put the overview article into multiple sections.
I think having articles for each location of an individual business can make the wiki feel a bit bloated, but that's just my two cents.
E.g. Hit Vids! Is in the muldraugh and Riverside sections since the business is in both locations
Plus it could save space in the individual sections and make it easier to read
@languid kayak @digital helm I've completed all of the articles with Project Vehicles and Mechanics. I think it might be time to officially close and complete the project, though you guys might catch something that I missed while I looked through everything. Thoughts?
I'll take a look, maybe today, but maybe it's worth it indeed, @digital helm?
BTW, all the logos from TIleZed Ikip uploads now, I originally wanted to do the same for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Seat_Yourself_Furniture#Job_board in https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Signs&action=edit&redlink=1 so maybe I'll get back to it soon™ 🤔
Is it Purple and Black or Purple + Black as the sign says? 🤔 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Purple_and_Black
Although maybe not, since we have https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Beer_and_Liquor (same manner)
I also wonder about the name of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Buffet - while the sign says "Buffer" there is also a "All U Can Eat" in the window and the map says "All You Can Eat Buffet" 🤔
I wonder if https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Slurp_Burp is a business or a product name 🤔. While it's good to have a page for it, is it really a business?
Hm, shouldn't https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Outskirts_Diner_(Riverside) be merged with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Diner now that we have it? @naive imp
Also, I added various trivia, including the moving of Hair O Genesis back its place, with the reference 🙂
I think we should, yeah. The Diner page was still incomplete at the time of making that article so I wanted to make sure Ikip worked his Louisville magic first.
Guy is crazy for having the time to add all those locations, but I sincerely appreciate it lol
I'd say the all you can eat buffet is more of a style of restaurant. We do have a business just called "Burgers", so I think having one just called "Buffet" makes sense
Thanks for clearing up Hair O Genisis btw😀
Yeah, I cleared several of them, Nasko helped confrming me some of those, though I probably missed a few still 🙂
https://www.mobygames.com/game/66026/project-zomboid/credits/windows/?autoplatform=true came with great help for some of those!
Some day we should have our own pages for all the developers, but since then, that was a great help 😛
I'm happy with closing it. Been a while since I've done anything with vehicles. Either way I'll look over it this evening
If I have an unfinished page, should I save it as it is or should I comment it all out?
Hey, I'm wanting to start helping out with the Wiki, but don't know how to get images other than screenshot/snips from in game. Does anybody know how I could go into the Steam files & get some images out? If that's not possible, what would be the best way to go about getting clean images for the wiki?
Saving is fine. You can add the {{Underconstruction}} if you're still working on it, otherwise {{stub}} or {{improve}} will help others to contribute: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Notice
Hey, some images are in ProjectZomboid\media\textures, ProjectZomboid\media\ui. Most are stored in ProjectZomboid\media\texturepacks in .pack files. There's a few tools to extract them. I used to use PZ Unpacker https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3511-pz-unpacker/
Though there is probably a better tool out there now
I wrote a tiny tool, for Un/Packing .pack files. .pack FormatThe .pack files contain all used textures in PZ.The structure is the following: Features:1. Unpack: .pack files into seperated .png files (extra info is saved in a .xml file)2. Pack: .pack file is (re)pack with the .xml file and all .pn...
if you're looking for item icons, they may already be uploaded. You can check here https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_List
Thank you so much! I think that's exactly what I'm looking for!
You could use TileZed (it's official tool used by the game devs) to extract images too – it should be available in the Steam modding tools, but you can also download it standalone if you want to
Probably tomorrow, but I'm finally gonna address the situation with the NPC, NPC (Legacy), Survivors, Player and Zombies/Animals. The way I see it:
*NPC – an article about NPCs (both the ones coming in build 43 and the legacy ones, with the links to animals and zombies; de facto NPCs) – gonna merge NPC (Legacy) and Survivors into it with some bits about build 43. That's because what NPCs are mostly asked/referred to, are the survivor ones.
*Survivor – link NPCs here, but mention survivors found dead in survivor stories
If you guys have any further thoughts, let me know!
Item ID is in the scripts txt files (txt file varies with each item). The ID starts off with the module: "Base" for most items, then the item name at the block opening: "Crowbar", so: "Base.Crowbar". You can take a look at the code section of a random item page, to get an idea. Should also have the path for it.
Models should be in the media folder, under models_X. Equipped models are stored as X files, whereas most models (which you're probably after) are in "WorldItems" stored as FBX files
Textures for the models should be in the "media>textures>WorldItems" for the world item models.
That would be great! A long time TODO. Partly for the lack of clarity in functionality in the past
@cobalt nimbus you can find the ID in game's https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Debug_mode - also keep in mind that "Base." could be omitted in some places in game files.
Let me introduce the Independent Fallout wiki is the first website in our https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Affiliates page! Hopefully this will result in some edits in both our wikis! If you want to contribute in Fallout-oriented wiki, feel free to check them out at https://fallout.wiki/ 🎉
BTW @swift warren @tough depot and @spiral crystal / @pallid cave that sadly means translating one more line in the sidebar 😛 Affiliates
I also redirected the scavenging page to survival guide for now, following Ikip's advision. Here's the old revision in case someone wants to salve something from it:
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Scavenging&oldid=154325
and take a look at https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Talk:Scavenging too
@languid kayak I created the help:location boilerplate, but I can't seem to get the code to appear by itself so that it can be copy pasted without going into the edit page, despite copying the format directly from other boilerplates. Maybe you can figure it out?
Affiliates -> พันธมิตรของเรา (our partners)
Affiliates -> 友情链接 in zh-hans
Should this page be translated or just keep it in English?
Fixed. Just add a <nowiki> tag and the code will not be rendered.
BTW, this link may need a description when hovering it like others do.
I found many pages have a link to https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Translation_needed/doc because the {{Translate}} template add those page names with /doc to the end of language code. Maybe we can add extra description to {{Translate}} page to notify editors that this template should add lang parameter manually in case it links to an incorrect category page.
I think it could be translated; thoughts?
good point, I forgot about the tooltip, will add later today ir tomorrow along eith the translation, thanks!
I'm not in front of the PC atm and will be back later so you can come up with one till then 😛
I think you did one tooltip for Russian, might be worth doing the rest - I'll update the sidebar pages later today or tomorrow and the main pages later too to bring them up to date
Wiki gonna go readonly for security update shortly, sorry for short notice, just recieved notice of one I have to apply quickly. @digital helm @languid kayak FYI
Update complete, please let me know if you notice anything broken
😄 Sorry, was on the phone 😛 Well, I posted the strings to translate there; gonna update them shortly
Actually, it's here to be precise: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations#Sidebar_translations
that's done now, pinging @pallid cave too
oh nvm, I mistunderstand you didn't know how 😄 Well, these ate mostly the short strings, I remember you translated one but I never added it as it was just the new one, that's why 😄
here's me being bad at understanding 😛
Thanks! I gotta refresh the boilerplates further someday, but good we have one for location now 😛
I gotchu. Vibrance already fixed it in case you didn't notice, but I'm glad to help out! Maybe once I have all the Rosewood locations done I'll see about helping out
@languid kayak Check PZwiki affiliates here = 查看PZwiki的友情链接
@languid kayak https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:MainPage_Gameplay this page needs trailing quotes at the end of style attribute in Gameplay, Game mechanics and Locations div tags. It works fine though.
Okay, now just the tooltip from the @pallid cave or @spiral crystal for Thai; forgot to ping @tough depot too for PT-BR, sorry!
Two new strings for Sarah and just the latter for Thai 😛

Check PZwiki affiliates here =
oh nvm, I did ping sarah before, we just miss SuperLisa for Dutch for some reason 😦

Does anyknow knows/can check it anything has changed in the radio and TV transcripts since build 40? If not, I guess we could bump all the pages listed currently at build 40 to build 41
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I've been wanting to contribute to the wiki, but never have done this sort of work before (wiki anything). Is there a sort of "crash course" for beginners? I have loads of free time and think I can make some valuable contributions
yeah; wanted to avoid it but may have to do it if there's no clean answer 😄
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Contents should answer most questions, if not, it's no real worries at editing, as everything can be reverted and I'm patrolling all changes
@vital raptor Can you check with someone on the team if those locations are supposed to be Jimmy's or Timmy's? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Timmy's_Pre-owned_Cars https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Jimmy's - both seem to use the same logo
@languid kayak hello, AFAIK youre the manager of pzwiki. I Would like to become a Polish language translator since ive seen some mistakes and things being not translated correctly.
I dont know how to officialy apply or something so i decided to contact you here 😅
Thanks! I assume both are Timmy's?
?
Oh
I actually wrote Timmy's
my bad lmao
They're both Jimmy's
There' s no need to aek, you just create account and gix whatever you spot. And yeah, most Polish pages are back fromversion 0.2.0 and severly outdated and with sloppy writing full of grammar mistakes from before
Oh alright, Thank you for the info!
It seems the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Locations_and_Maps is slowly inching to be closed, mainly thanks to Ikip's work – after clearing up and removing the old pages, there's actually just two missing pages: Fossoil Refinery and March Ridge Dormitory unless you want to include some minor businesses.
Then there's some pages that need some improvements about what businessess are to be listed: general Knox Country page, Lousiville and Scenic Grove (lacks a table), maybe a Doe Valley and then maybe a Businesses page.
Finally there's maybe adding categories to businesses and seems the project could be closed? Any thought @naive imp?
oh and maybe the minor gas stations having their own article
I'm not sure we should close it until all businesses have articles in more detail. Sure we have the articles, but most of them just say x is x business in x town, with coordinates. It's a major step up from what we had before, but I don't think it should be closed, more so that "phase one" can be considered complete, in a sense.
We have the articles made, all that's left to do is add further detail to what the businesses and other locations actually are, similar to what I did with all the Riverside businesses.
As much as I would love to close the project, I don't think our work is even halfway finished. Projects and Maps is a massive effort, only beaten out by translations and maybe nav and categories.
I've been on a bit of a hiatus lately, but I'll be back very shortly making regular edits, and I have a lot of newer stuff planned for the Locations and Maps job board.
@languid kayak
If that's it, I guess the job board should be reorganized to reflect that I guess? It currently list the missing articles mostly.
Also, I guess we could pull https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Map toward that project? After all it's "Locations and Maps''
I'll get right on that. Just booting my PC now. I also think the map idea is a great idea.
Well, the new map function was a great addition in build 41, so I guess the mechanic should warrant a new page 😛 We have a map with symbols and a niminimap, previously it was just maps that could be found in-game.
Agreed. After The Great Reorganization I'll look over my priorities and see where it falls. I have to redo the list on my user page anyway
I bumped the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Health to include new stuff such as exercise and new bandages, the images of bandaging needs to be updated to include the new menus – I might do it later, but if not, feel free to check it up 🙂
I also bumped Nutrition, but I wonder; do we need this table? It seems it might be hard to maintain, unless we somehow populate it automatically https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Nutrition#List_of_nutritional_values
@languid kayak If you're available, please add a language bar to the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:About page.
Done
can we have an wiki page about the pzns framework mod? random wiki page idea
i believe would be cool if there was an few mods pages from npcs mods such as : pzns , superb survivorsand etc
Typically we don't allow mod pages, because they can too easily be confused with vanilla gameplay. Additionally, they tend not to be updated as much as nonmod pages
well why theres an hydrocraft page then?
There shouldn't be one, we'll have to consider deleting it
theres like 4 pages about that but they have an warning isnt an vanilla feature
ah, I see you guys discussed it here - we had a discussion with @digital helm about mods some time ago iirc, there is a greenfire, hydrocraft and some pages we didn't straight up removed, but aren't really maintained. I'm not against having mod pages (we have modding pgaes after all, some already touch mods, and some modders are now pz devs), but like kirrus said, I'd have to be clearly marked to not confuse it with a base game. Also these pages could add to maonteneance burden and be outdated, like Hydrocraft one.
I was never a big fan of having mods on the wiki, for the reasons @restive adder mentioned. I wouldn't be against a mod page that links to their own wikis (on GitHub, etc)
If we were to allow them, they'd have to be no more than a single page, with just a general description about the mod. And ideally in a "Mod" namespace.
github wikis are a solid point; while it's slightly different syntax, GH wikis are quite easy to edit as well
that assumes the mod in question plans to use git of cource (source, issues etc.) - some did though, including Hydrocraft
Emm, when will we add an icon to the Navigation header?
Maybe a 'third party mods' page, with a table linking to mod wiki, and a short description? If that shows up in search it'd help drive traffic to the mods hopefully maintained home?
We have https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mods which is terribly outdated; was thinking what to do about it for a while 🤔
@languid kayak I see you updated the version param of Obsolete template and tended to simplify the code, but it would be complicated if the version link needed an alias like this page: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Forest.
Thanks! I fixed it to link to specific version now, since we have the page for it
Guess I should do the same with other Knox County links 😄
I was doing initial sweep for some versions yesterday, in case you didn't notice, seems we have articles for each minor patch for the pre-alpha ones, sometimes multiple a day, but guess it can stay like that 😛
I added infobox to most, except the oldest ones (will do that too)
Sometimes might be hard to keep track of the oldest version though, especially since Desura's dead 😩. Hopefully the RC 2.5 is accurate
Doesn't help we had three different naming versions, but seems the is abot accurate on the names: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Version_history
and I'd always link to the article, not the version history, should be possible with that we have now
Alright, I'll do the same for zh-hans pages then.
I found that the Occupation page's table is too width to fit the content, so I tried to reorganize it like Moodles page(https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Moodles/zh-hans) in the sandbox page(https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Occupation/sandbox). I only apply the start content of the page to show the layout of it. If it's ok, I'd like to finish it and move to the source page or you can do it personally.
I was hoping to have them split into their own dedicated page. There's a fit bit unique to each skill now, and I suspect more so in build 42
I reorganized the tables of the Community project page like what I did to Community portal before and applied it here https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Community_projects/sandbox. You can apply and delete it if there's no problem.
Although it not quite severe, I suggest replace normal paragraph like Moodles with those tables in Traits, too. Some phrases look too tight whereas others have just few words in the same line.
I also suggest creating a template to show those green and red digits in a more convenient way.
I wanna thank all of you who work on the wiki.
It's such a good resource and is very fun to browse. I get so excited when I see something has been updated.
Can't wait to see all the new and revamped articles for build 42! 😊
Can't wait to see all the new and revamped articles for build 42! 😊
hello
This is ikip
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Talk:Map#Is_the_project_zomboid_map_incorrect?
Anyone care to help? please respond there.
Is the online project zomboid map incorrect?
I found all of these new businesses on the online project zomboid map, and I added them to the wiki, about 10 businesses, including American Tire, GigaMart, etc. which is shown in the far west of the online map. I then tried to travel to this location, and the map ended. I am using build 41.60.
can someone with build Version 41.78.16 try to travel to this area?
@digital helm @languid kayak I made some fixes and changes on Template:Languages on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Languages/sandbox which should work fine when I preview it on other pages (including Languages policy page).
BTW, Main Page/sandbox may not be protected and can be edited by anyone.
that's the point? Unless it is protected, then it shouldn't
actually it's protected now.
ah, I'll tske a look a bit later then
I saw the Infobox template seems take too much space(both time and bit cost) after expansion and there are so much repeated code. I looked for how other wiki sites did it and I found this extension: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Capiunto, which can generate same text with Lua code. Can we install one, too?
categorized the screenshots, thx for the reminder 🙏
Welcome to the discord Ikip! So some areas on the map are still WIP by the devs and can't be accessed yet. Could you take a screenshot of the area on the map and post it so I can confirm?
Please include the coordinates too. Thx
Never mind just saw my talk page. I'll respond there
@jaunty torrent you can also set your server nickname to your pzwiki user, that's what I did
Seems it should be only protected from unverified users and it should allow you to edit; can you make sure you can't really edit it? Sometimes the page shows "view source" but can actually be edited due to heavy caching, maybe that's the case here? You also can't move it.
Hey! Great to see you here 😄 And yeah, I also replied on the talk page and the project page
The gas station you mentioned is at the location you mentioned btw @jaunty torrent
Oh I misread that msg, sorry.
Done. Let me know if there's any issues.
Waiting for your response. 🤔
Redesigned for Main page in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Main_Page/sandbox. Not complete though, it may look better as it has only two columns. I removed the screenshot section cause it's too wide and I have no idea where to place it. @digital helm @languid kayak Looking forward to your opinions and suggestions.
If the direction is ok, I'll make some templates to simplify the code, which can also used in other pages such as Community portal and Community projects.
I noticed the difference of different layout of each skin, so I wonder which skin do you use and recommend? BTW, I redesign the Main page in Vector 2022 skin so it looks may not well in other skins.
We're possibly moving skins entirely soon, to one that better supports mobile. Cosmo is one we've been pointed to, not installed or looked into it yet
It seems to be a little better than the old one indeed as far as Google PageSpeed Insight goes for mobile
https://pagespeed.web.dev/analysis/https-pzwiki-net-wiki-Main_Page/eyj13p9ox3?form_factor=mobile
https://pagespeed.web.dev/analysis/https-pzwiki-net-wiki-Main_Page-sandbox/jb498bsata?form_factor=mobile
A new skin is certainly planned eventually, though might not be as easy to adjust to our needs, Cosmo is indeed the one we've been pointed at and it's better for mobile, though we haven't really take a deeper look, plus personally I don't like the new skins in desktop, but that might be person 😛
Eventually having a set of skins could be nice, though it'd need some mainteneance, mind you.
It's hard to adjust one design to different skins though. I need a Most Recommended skin so I can focus on it.
@languid kayak I'm translating Dedicated Server page and I find that you changed the category from Multiplayer to Gameplay. Can I ask the reason?
I just used the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Game_modes as reference, though keep in mind that the categories might be revamped as a part of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Navigation_and_Categories
it jus… takes time 😄
Now I'm in the process of clearing up modding main page and probably do some updates to some modding pages, we'll see how it goes
Hm… I'm slowly going through some cleanups; do we need this page? Is it of much use? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Solidtrans
Seems that it was created long long ago. Maybe it can be removed.
Okay, I finally got to merge the old and new modding page; seems Omar took the same time to did some minor fixes while I was editing but I also included them :D.
I removed the dead links, they can be added in case they are created, but I believe Aiteron gave up on this for now. I also did plethora of cleanups.
Now I'm thinking of merging all the Lua pages (except the Lua functions/objects/events/etc.) into one "Lua" page, that is:
Variables Assignments Datatypes - variables, Assignments and Datatypes
Task one solutions - test yourself solutions
Arithmetic Operators
Relational and Boolean Operators
Concatenation and Length Operators
If Statements and Functions
Loops
Local and Global Variables
Tables (modding)
Looping Through Tables
Hm, seems that your edit on the sandbox seems to have fixed the issue? 🎉 https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Languages&diff=prev&oldid=157111
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Language_policy seems right for me @swift warren 🙂
Guys, should I delete https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:WallCalculator and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:CarpentryBonus ? I've been eyeing them since https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:Contributions/Markuso tried to use them to simplify the calculation of wall HP, but they seems to not be used and I'm not sure they plan on developing it further, seems like an abandoned idea?
@languid kayak I mentioned it here. It should work fine now. So do the Header template later.
Yeah, I saw you mentioned language policy here 😄 Glad it fixed the issues. About the header; what's the fixes exactly?
Maybe you can add an Outdated or Improve notice and wait for someone else to update it.
Not sure about it 🤔. Right now I'm keeping them bookmarked till I figure what to do 😄
Not fix but improve to be exact. I tend to do it but not now as it's not quite important. 😄
BTW, I've spent the most time bumping pages to latest version recently, just finished a sweep for modding pages, not many pages left: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version gonna update the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Build_41_Update with the progress soon and move some things from tasks there, also messaged Vaileasys for some help; next I'm gonna move to updating items I guess.
I also noticed that https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Electricals_and_Transmission is actually close to being finished I believe? There's also https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Spiffo's_Construction_Crew that needs some love, though not as progressed as the other project
Oh and if anyone have an idea if https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File_formats changed anything or if it could be bumped to 41.78.16 it would be nice 😄
(the page needs introduction too)
btw @swift warren what's the meaning of translate for the English language Policy here? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=PZwiki%3ALanguage_policy&type=revision&diff=135683&oldid=113857 ? I'd rather use the template for the (rare) occasion where we have a great page in foreign language but no in English (there are a few pages in Russian that have no English counterpart; though these are not great, just guides, but you get the idea), but that's not the case here certainly 🤔
Sorry I don't remember why I added this. 😆 I think you are right. It should be removed.
BTW, should https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Style_guide be categorized in Policies instead of just Help as I see it changed namespace from PZwiki to Help?
the web browser says that I dont have permission to change my user name. So I will remain this name here and IKIP on the wiki. shrug
Good point, I removed it
On Discord? Weird, should allow you to set a nickname unique to the server, but OTOH I never changed mine 😄
You can try right clicking your avatar and click "Edit Server Profile"
BTW @jaunty torrent I saw you started naming the new area western outskirts, I've started researching if the name was ever assumed anywhere (I don't think so), but I found this video from MrAtomicDuck explaining how to get there and what's in it; apparently it was added in 41.73 unstable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VyzIXLxZRg
Hey folks, in this video we'll be taking a look at the Project Zomboid's new secret town that's only available in the unstable build of the game. I'll cover how to get to the new map area and points of interest to go and see for yourself.
Enjoy!

wow, thanks! I was able to change my username.
Back when the patches were common BTW and map was not always up to date, I remember taking notice on the WorldVersion; it increments each time something on map is changed – used to be even when something minor was changed, like a missing light switch being added or some missing tile on rooftop, but now with all the modder map makers being hired to the main team, each update can bring a new area 😛

MAP
- Full export of the current Knox Event map. This will be the final B41 map update.
- Updates many farms and farmsteads
- Improves upper class areas in Louisville
- Adds many new tiles on the tilesheets
- Fixes many and various community-reported map issues and bugs
Edit: Hotfix August 12th: - Extended client connection logs - The zombienet library was rebuilt (libZNet*) We've pushed this update to help us further investigate and better reproduce Linux server crashes. If you continue to experience crashes on your Linux server after this update, please send u...
Right now the latest world version seems to be 195
BTW, here's the teaser of the new areas @jaunty torrent https://projectzomboid.com/blog/content/uploads/2023/07/map-will-3.jpg from https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2023/07/knox-event-30-years-on/
Today marks a day in history. It is EXACTLY thirty years since the Knox Event broke out on 6th July 1993. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted on this sad anniversary. To commemorate this we are allowing everyone to relive the experience IN REAL TIME on the Twitters. Please follow @TheKnoxEvent to experience a textual […]
intentionally blurred obviously 😉
thanks your awesome.
Based on that seems there'll be 3 to 4ish towns being added, I'm not sure if one of them is actually Ekron (I believe it was teased when they renamed what we used to call Ekron to Fallas Lake)?
I believe Fort Knox was supposed to be released after 1.0, but that might be changed based on the tiles in-game, similar how Louisville was sped up. There's also Edinburg IIRC? Maybe that's post 1.0?
Here's the real map for reference: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Muldraugh,+KY,+USA/@37.9461164,-86.0974678,12z
Fort Knox is unlikely to be included in that expansion, as it's the other way around 😄
Some minor summary of the new area is also mentioned here: https://youtu.be/CMFc_9xLhN8?feature=shared&t=194
In this video, we take a look at the recent development update for Project Zomboid! A massive map expansion is coming for Project Zomboid, revealed in the recent Thursdoid post amongst many other cool tidbits to chew on.
Enjoy!

Thursdoid: https://p...
In case someone wants it; I quickly layered that image with appropriately scaled screenshots of https://map.projectzomboid.com/ (the bottom part have no roofs and I realized there are roofs enabled in that images) in case someone want to compare the existing buildings we have now with that teaser. The southern part is sadly missing so there's no https://map.projectzomboid.com/#15452x1318 to compare, but interesting part is that there are two areas added in the non-blurred part – there's one new building in between the Rosewood and the ||secret military base||, but also some new quadrant south of the March Ridge and some new buildings in the area north of Muldraugh, at least from what I spotted.
Keep in mind it's from the blod post that's 3 month old, so things most likely have changed since 😛
(corrected canvas)
wow, cool
There's also this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmT5xdvALrY - though I was only able to identify the military outpost from the last area: https://map.projectzomboid.com/#1528x5480x715
or actually it might not even be that 😄
interesting, thanks.
Yeah, might not be that though, as the water line is different; unless it got changed, that's possibility too. Guess we'll see when first build 42 hits us.
BTW, I just realized you can overlay room definitions in the PZ map, that should help to recognize some buildings that don't have the signs in them. For that you have to overlay rooms on the map
@jaunty torrent @naive imp
what does that mean? What do you mean by overlay room definitions? For what purpose?
The room definitions definie what loot spawns inside the containers in that room, see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Room_definitions for more info and the (potentially slightly outdated) list.
With that in mind, you can identify some areas even if there's no sign in front, e.g., when it says spiffoskitchen then it's Spiffo's, even if the sign might not be visible due to angle.
Something we've been mentioning in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Talk:Food_market_(Riverside)
Thanks so much for the tips. I'll be sure to use them.
Won't help with everything, but might be handy without actually going to the place in-game and observing the loot (or using debug)
It's actually quite handy 😄 For example in the Pet Health Pawmise and ||secret military base||, the room definition help to see what those rooms are for, even if they both have the same tiles in there 😛
i see there is a gigamart tile. which may answer thinkdock's question about the location he thinks maybe gigamart.
Hm, some room definityions are certainly interesting, the for lease rooms in the Muldarugh's Mini mall are actually defined as pizzastore1 🤔 https://map.projectzomboid.com/#1893x6336x8159
There's not many containers in there though to spawn pizza loot, not sure about the new foraging
I wonder if that's intetional or not?
oh wait nvm
it's plaza, not pizza 😄
the room definition overlay may be handy for counting room numbers too, though sometimes weird areas are defined as rooms, e.g. empty pillars
Apparently, seems it's not a gigamart after all, just a grocery (I believe Food Market, as Greene's layouts are different), the map also mentions it's a "Food Market and Laundromat", so the first location should be moved @naive imp
I went ahead and removedi t from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/GigaMart
Ok. On lunchbreak at work currently but I'll get on it when I get home.
thanks faal
BTW, seems that folks already started calling that new town Brandemburg due to location, but not sure if there's any official hint toward that 🤔. Might as well be a red herring as with Ekron https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMFMmpVGI78
This is project Zomboid
I am exploring newly learned Brandenburg, as I saw it on the project zomboid map website.
The town is still being worked on/ revamped so it is not a finished product yet.
This is beyond the maps mapped areas.
Using a sledgehammer, I was able to get past the map border fences. This is purely vanilla playthrough with no mo...
Oh, I didn't realize we have another teaser of what's to come, though this one is really old screen of the blurred area we actually already have, they just give direction of what areas are being worked on: https://projectzomboid.com/blog/content/uploads/2022/09/map-expansion-blur-4.png from the https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2022/09/broadened-horizonz/
Okay, so here’s a run down on our current basic plans for finalizing Build 41, and then beyond. NEXT We’ve left Linux server operators hanging out to dry a bit over the last two weeks and feel awful about it – especially ones with larger/busier servers. 41.73 came with crashes on Linux servers, and the […]
The confirmation of Brandenburg being added goes all long to 2014 https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2014/06/march-to-1-0/
Hello everyone, we’ve had a rather wonderful weekend of Steam saleage, and are feeling in very high spirits. We’ve also concocted a plan for our advance to the ever elusive 1.0 and graduation from Early Access, as well as beyond, which we would like to share with you all! Fear Not, For It Is Not […]
I wonder if it's safe to assume the new area is indeed Brandenburg 🤔. And even if so, how far will it stretch? There's also Ekron that's probably being added alongside that location
Else it could have been added to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_Country and new locations noted as such
I suggest waiting until we know for sure the name of the town. but i am indifferent either way.
The location seems right for Brandemburg https://www.google.com/maps/place/Brandenburg,+KY+40108,+USA/@38.0042104,-86.3632205,10.5z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x88692bf94d01b275:0x583124a751c7e334!8m2!3d37.9989592!4d-86.1694143!16zL20vMHRoN2I?entry=ttu
Yeah, same for Ekron, but no 100% confirmation 😛
Agreed with Ikip. I say we wait until the unstable release featuring the towns being complete.
We should have most if not all towns done by then so it shouldn't be too taxing on the workload
We can ask nasko to ask around, though at this point I suppose it's supposed to be a surprise anyway :P. Unless some block post sheds some light or we get some testing build (right now it's all internal pretty much, the parts we got wasn't probably planned too, but since they were exported with some map version then they stayed as such).
You guys have work to do anyway, and I should probably start focusing on items slowly, most of the pages are outdated or lack info, and some are not existend, and we'll get a lot when b42 hits.
I thought of adding Ekron and Brandemburg to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_Country but that might wait too; especially since we still have Scenic Grove Mobile Park and Doe Valley that are stubs (and Doe Valley being vague definition too, at least in b42 maybe things will be clearer with Fallas Lake and potentially other places in the old map getting some signs and stuff)
Though mind that Brandenburg is linked in the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_Event page
It's not supposed to be a surprise, the town's aren't finished but are released to the public as they were at the point of last update. Should be pretty safe to document what's there
Thanks for confirming! Do you know whether we have official names for these yet? Are these indeed Ekron (the real one) and Brandemburg as the community calls it?
They've Def got name but dunno what they are
Guess we'll have to wait and see then 😄
Seems that only the logo has a Subpage template but Language: text doesn't. It's better to add one here(line 3): [[PZwiki:Language policy{{Subpage}}|{{Translation|Language}}:]]
@digital helm @languid kayak I finished the design of header template in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Header/sandbox with a new sub template in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Header/linkcolor. Maybe it's better to add those styles in certain classes. BTW, the new header should end with </table> or |} instead of </div> as I combined the body with header.
I accidentally fixed this today. When looking at other stuff. It's a bit of a hack, and messy, but works for now. I used ifexists which resulted in a lot of repeated text
Thanks! Looks better at first glance. I'll have to take a closer look sometime. And check your usage of Subpage.
I also need to get a template combining https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Subpage and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Language_code
I fixed a couple of issues today, because I had misused the Subpage template. Resulting in creating categories for ANY subpage, not just language codes.
Maybe we need a Check language code like Check title?
Yeah, it'd probably just be this
{{#ifeq: {{Language code|{{Subpage|slash=false}}}}|true|{{{Subpage}}}|}}
It would be nice as many templates may need it.
@digital helm While you are online, I wonder whether we can add an extension named https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Capiunto, which can allow us use Lua scripts to generate text as I saw the Infobox template has massive same lines but can not be generated with a loop-like function. Maybe this extension can help.
It's me who authorities new extensions, and that's a flat no, under performance considerations
Is 41.67.5 a real version or a typo? As I can't identify that version: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_41.67.5
The links on the sandbox header ar less noticable though than the one on the current headder @swift warren
The origin header uses class to adjust the style while the sandbox breaks it, so I have to add style manually. Maybe it's better to update the css to fit the new header.
That's kinda not true.
Those bonuses affect only Long Blunt weapons.
Because game code says "Blunt" which means Long Blunt in reality. "SmallBlunt* for Short Blunt.
For Axes, Long Blunt and Spears: endurance mod should be 0.8, not 0.9 if i am right.
@digital helm I browsed the newly created version and thought maybe it's better to limit the accuracy of version to xx.xx instead of xx.xx.xx as the latter seems would create too many categories, which makes it hard to maintain and eventually cause many empty category pages.
BTW, with the help of category tree extension, most categories may don't have so many pages that need a categoryTOC.
just double checked and getDamageMod() is indeed for **long **blunt, axe and spear, you are correct, please go ahead and change it
I can't find the endurance costs so I'm not sure about that
there are also range modifiers for level 7-10 on these weapon types which I can't see displayed on that page? (I probably missed it but they give 1.2x range modifier for lvl 7-10) (~HandWeapon.java:464) might be worth testing in game, but it looks as though the code is used, just not on the wiki
Yea. At 7 level those types of weapons recieving +20% attack range at level 7-10
Tested and it's true
That was initially the reason to not track them 🤔. OTOH I don't mind them as it, makes me easier to find outdated pages (that's why I asked about it :D), though it depends how fast the updates will be past b42.
I talked with Vaileasys briefly about how to deal with the outdated version categories, but that's something I'd have to wrap my head around - I used to remove them before, now I created them to avoid the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WantedCategories 😄 But they naturally will be left empty over time; ideally just the latest version.
Also, we have Build/Version, that's something I asked about too, gotta take a deeper look.
Hey... Just joined the discord and I have some questions about parameters that are not answered on pzwiki.net. Where is the best place on here to pose those questions?
It depends on the question. General knowledge, #pz_b42_chat . Assistance with the game, #1019767076094758924 . Assistance with internal game data and modding, #mod_support
Thx
I was hesitant about the change. It was initially setup like that when there weren't that many 'minor' versions, or at least didn't change much. The last few 'major' versions (especially build 41) have had a lot of 'minor' versions, with many having considerable changes.
I think it may have to be a 'see how it goes' thing. It's simple enough to change back
Gotta figure out what to do with the categories, but guess that'll come along as a part of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Navigation_and_Categories 😛
BTW @digital helm I believe the current plan is to have none of the regional pages in the English categories? I know some are to be revamped, but I'll probably slowly start moving pages away, especially the outdated non-English ones in the https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Version
@digital helm do you think we should capitalize [[Build 42]] and links as such or say [[build 42]] following the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Style_guide#Capitals (I think we should expand the rule to actulaly mention that the items and skills are to be sentence case too, for it to be clear, and note exceptions is any; like wehther we want to name option names as-is (they are often Title Case'd))
And the version/build naming too
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_41 vs https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_41 🤔
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Spiffo I wonder what causes the extra white line in here 🤔
I'm in the middle of rearranging item categories, and I wonder: does "Container" and "Containers" fits more to the current page or the items that can be held/worn by player? (bags etc), as that's the in-game category for the handheld items
This is wrong
car parts for context
also it seems that you gain different amounts of XP for succeding on different parts
while failing always gives the same
If so, feel free to edit it 🙂
Huh, I wasn't aware of this page existance: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZMap:StyleGuide @ruby moss mind the ping, but you being the one who created it and you maintain the map, is it still up to date? If so, I can make it a little more prominent, and adding more locations to the map would be welcome, especially as the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Locations_and_Maps was vastly improved this month 🙂
go nuts. Also, I really need to go through my POI backlog..
im on vacation this week, dm me next week
yo can someone explain to me how it works for translation I would like help
be bold and edit the page. 🙂
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Contents Here is the main guide, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations this page will teach you how to translate.
I do not dare/have to make an account and lazy
I will eventually
See pins for a speedrun!
Hm, seems that https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Header always add the pages to the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Unknown_Version no matter what languages are they at. Something to look at I believe? @digital helm
Also https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Retrieved this template still puts pages into main category, e.g., https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Cordless_Phone is put in both https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_39.67.5 as well as https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_39 (which was supposed to be just a hub for categories)
It also doesn't add to subpages, e.g., https://pzwiki.net/wiki/NPK_Fertilizer/pt-br
Seems it was you who bumped the version @digital helm https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Pants&direction=next&oldid=34414 Probably won't ring the bell noawadays but was it a typo or existing version indeed?
39.52 was April 26 2018, your edit was May 3 2018 and https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/23649-released-iwbums-build-39673/page/10/#comment-270269 while 39.56 was on May 3 as well https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/23649-released-iwbums-build-39673/page/10/#comment-270269
Can we assume it was a typo and was supposed t be 39.56? Or is there some extra version that's not listed in wiki's version history?
Okay, I assumed 39.56 for now 😛
So now the main question is this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_41.67.5 unless someone bumps the pages to latest and we won't bother 👀
Seems the Ukrainian header is broken, doesn't show the page modified in the header, e.g. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Items/uk
thks
There is a placeholder of the translation of Page updated word, and it will be regarded as an empty string. Remove or add the En version can both solve it.
replace this line:
{{#if: {{{hidever|}}}||[[Category:{{#if:{{{version|}}}|{{{version}}}{{#if:{{{incver|}}}|.{{{incver}}}}}{{#ifeq:{{Language code|{{Subpage|slash=false}}}}|true|{{Subpage}}|}}|Unknown Version}}]]}}<!--
with this:
{{#if: {{{hidever|}}}||[[Category:{{#if:{{{version|}}}|{{{version}}}{{#if:{{{incver|}}}|.{{{incver}}}}}|Unknown Version}}{{#ifeq:{{Language code|{{Subpage|slash=false}}}}|true|{{Subpage}}|}}]]}}<!--
should help.
fixed.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Chart_templates Just found this one; is it something remotely useful or safe to delete? Seems quite useless, was created back in 2013 🤔
It was done by the creator of PZunpacker; a handy tool back then: https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3511-pz-unpacker/
@naive imp you already started working on splitting the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Map yet? If not, I'll move it to Map (item) and split some sections while at it, but I also want to create the https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Cartography&redirect=no page (it's linked in the main page), a page that will list all these items: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_List#Cartography similar to the other pages I've been creating lately, e.g., https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Traps – they will eventually be all transcluded in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Items too
I haven't actually started anything yet, more so updated my user page because I would've forgot to. It was a bit late last night when I finished up Rosewood.
Feel free to split it up, and I will add on to what you do.
If you're moving it to Map (item) then would the new map function serve better as just being called "Map" or "World Map"?
I thought of "Map", but gotta see how it's called in-game, good pointer!
We could always just use the {{about}} to make sure people go to the right place anyway
Pretty sure it says open world Map on the radial menu when I play (I play with an Xbox Controller)
Ah I didn't know about that thx
Maybe we could rename that category to something different? I feel like it could cause some confusion. Maybe "worlds" or "game worlds"?
There's no worlds though 😄 I believe we use the "Challenge maps" as well
Also terms as https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mapping
It's Map apparently
Cool. Looks like ill just use "Map" then.
Once I get off work and have some time to do edits I'll get the basics done at the very least
(custom sandbox)
That fix worked, thanks!
However, those two still remains:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Crafting/fr
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Items/cs
Gotta see why 🤔
Something's not 100% right though.
I also wonder what about templates like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Retrieved/ko - it seems to add https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:버전_39 and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:버전_41 🤔
Another issue I found, is that disambiguation page tend to do language tag twice, e.g., https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Pistol_(disambiguation)/fr
theres an aspect of mechanics xp gain that isn't mentiond in the wiki
succeding in uninstalling a part and installing a part give different amounts of xp depending on how hard it is
exampl removing a windshield gives 3X failure xp
removing a window gives 2X failure xp
also installing sometimes gives more xp
the amount gained by succeding seems to be based off of what level you are and what level is required
windshield needs /5
window needs /3
if anyone wants to get all the hard numbers and put them in the wiki. I'm just gonna fix the error and vaguely mention this
Now to settle this 👀 https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Special:WantedPages&limit=1000&offset=44000
Ah, yeah probably an oversight with the latest edit
Assuming is good. That was too long ago for me...
Okay, I scrapped the idea of making Cartography page; no point to create a dedicated list of maps that'd basically be copy of the Item ID list in map (item).
I did make a list of annotated maps, if anyone wants, we could add screenshots of all the annotated maps and stashes / loots. There are videos covering that topic on YouTube too.
Maybe there is no need to maintain the VersionNotice template, which can be replaced with Header and be removed.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Crafting/fr This page was edited in 2014 so I updated it with a Header and Outdated.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Items/cs Someone forget to add cs to the language code template 😆:
|de <!-- German -->
|es <!-- Spanish -->
|fr <!-- French -->
|hu <!-- Hungarian -->
|it <!-- Italian -->
|ja <!-- Japanese -->
|ko <!-- Korean -->
|nl <!-- Dutch -->
|no <!-- Norwegian -->
|pl <!-- Polish -->
|pt <!-- Portuguese -->
|pt-br <!-- Brazilian Portuguese -->
|ru <!-- Russian -->
|th <!-- Thai -->
|tr <!-- Turkish -->
|uk <!-- Ukrainian -->
|zh-hans <!-- Chinese (Simplified) -->
|zh-hant <!-- Chinese (Traditional) --> = true
|#default = false
just add one will work fine.
Oops, I add the pipe to the wrong position. It has been fixed now. 😋
The Retrieved/ko can be removed. It's documentation gives a usage example which cannot hidecat so the /doc page as well as the root page are both added to the category. I made a temporary fix but removing it may be better.
This is exactly what I wrote in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Navigation_and_Categories#Job_board and what Vaileasys was writing in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:VersionNotice documenation before me 😛
fixed. BTW, I think this template's function is too simple to create another template for it, which can be done by adding a Header.
Yeah, I have those disambiguation projects on eye, they serve little purpose right now and are basically not standarized, take a look: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Disambiguation_pages
I'll probably get to this on the following days if time permits
I also found those templates, I'm not sure how useful these are:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Catmain/ru (had discussion about it with Vaileasys, but at the current state it's not used much)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:WorkOn/ru (I think I discussed this one with Vaileasys, it's being used on several pages)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:И (I think it's the equivalent of {{AND}})
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Или (I think it's the equivalent of {{OR}})
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:또는 (ditto, just for Japanese)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:説明参照
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Hidden_sort_key (not sure if it's used for anything, seems it's copypasted from Wikipedia or some other wiki)
I also cleaned up most of the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WantedCategories today; initially the version one but then went to the regional ones as well.
Currently it's just
- https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_41.78 (should be bumped to 41.78.16; ideally with a bot as it's 355 pages)
- https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_41.67.5 (two pages of non-existing? version, or at least the one I could not track)
- https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_30/ja (it's so old that I can't even verify it properly; the only page of version 30 in the whole wiki apparently)
The rest is mostly the modding pages being at fault here, mostly the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Scripts_guide
And the only English page that's of unknown version is https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File_formats but I believe it could have been bumped to 41.78.16 or hide the ver, as file formats don't change often if at all I believe
And finally the question whether we need the regional variants of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Header and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Retrieved - it seems the way to go is to use the English one and just supply translations, right?
@languid kayak How about add the Header to all language pages in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Languages:
{{Header|Languages|hidever=true}}
as well as the Category:Languages page with:
{{Header|hidever=true}}
?
you mean the Category:XX pages or all the content pages for every language? (the latter is also planned, though more tasking :P)
the category pages for sure. All content pages are too many.😆
Well; the plan is for (almost) every one of them to have it indeed 😛
I have to take a look at phasing out the https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:VersionNotice as it's not really used anywhere, just mentioned in help pages. Any specific reason for keeping it @digital helm instead of just instructing folks to use {{Header}}?
I also have to take a look at implementing your https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Header/sandbox - anything has changed under the hood about categorization, or is it just the Main category being taken out and visual changes + CSS fixes?
Yours seems to behave much better under extremely low resolutions @swift warren might be good for phone too 🙂
I like how the category points to exact version now; maybe it's even a good idea to point to the exact minor version as well, now that these are tracked? (And while I agree, it's a lot of categories to maintain, it makes my life easier taking a look at which pages are the most outdated; we'll see how much I'll be able to keep them maintained after b42 hits :P)
Still gotta do some figuring out whether we want to use the "Version" nomenclture, or the "Build" one. I believe the "version" term stretches back to the beginning of the wiki back before build nomenclature,, but nowadays everything's just "build" and will probably stay as such, unless it changes after release.
I'm leaning toward slowly renaming stuff to just "build", though it would be some work and big changes, so I'm not rushing it 🤔
In case someone's wondering what my current work it's the three top priorities in the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks#High_priority though it's always diverging into something smaller :D. The exact priorities/jobs are documentend in the respective projects
Now that we use both version param and incver in Header to categorize the pages, why not combine them into one param?
My thought too 😄
I believe it'd be easier for editors too, as I often saw folks forgetting incver totally, just putting the stuff on version
BTW @swift warren (or @digital helm when online), you both are more keen with the templates; now that we use {{Header}} exclusively and all the translations are done from the translation database/page names, should the {{Language}} and language version of it be removed eventually? Or are they to stay for the documentations?
My thought is to keep the word to be translated to the templates' subpage because many of them (e.g. Navigation in Header template) are only used in one template and the words to be translated are separated to other templates but maintained in Translation template. In this way the template pages' language subpage would not only just empty but also keep all translated documentation for the template.
But the best way is to use translate extension I think. 🤔
@languid kayak and @digital helm, I did some changes to Language code to make it auto-check whether the page it is transuded in is in a language code subpage if we don't pass the param:
{{#switch: {{{1|{{#titleparts: {{PAGENAME}} | | -1 }}}}}
| cs <!-- Czech -->
| de <!-- German -->
| es <!-- Spanish -->
| fr <!-- French -->
| hu <!-- Hungarian -->
| it <!-- Italian -->
| ja <!-- Japanese -->
| ko <!-- Korean -->
| nl <!-- Dutch -->
| no <!-- Norwegian -->
| pl <!-- Polish -->
| pt <!-- Portuguese -->
| pt-br <!-- Brazilian Portuguese -->
| ru <!-- Russian -->
| th <!-- Thai -->
| tr <!-- Turkish -->
| uk <!-- Ukrainian -->
| zh-hans <!-- Chinese (Simplified) -->
| zh-hant <!-- Chinese (Traditional) --> = true
| #default = false
}}
We may don't need a new template. 😋
so the pages that have / in them but do not have the language code in them won't create extra caregories?
This template only return boolean type.
True when the subpage is a language code, false otherwise.
I browsed the code of Subpage and found this template seems to tend to do the same as the Language code I improved. Maybe we can even remove it.
Though Subpage gives some param to provide more complex functions, it seems that few pages use those params instead of slash=false.
I found that many templates use Languages/Table instead of only Languages. It's better to move it out of the subpage like Language Table.
I'll take a look at it tomorrow or day after I guess, kinda tired today 😴
@languid kayak I notice that the version category pages you created are all same except for the version links, how about create a template containing the content of category pages so that each new version category only need to add a template which is more convenient to create and remove?
If you mean modding, you can go to #mod_development for help. This channel is about the game wiki.
ok
@languid kayak The category tree contains some categories named the same as some pages, e.g. Category:Items and Items. For these pages, should Items be categorized in Category:Items or it's upper category Category:The Game World? I saw many of them be categorized in both categories, which may not clear for clarification. I suggest it be categorized in the upper category so that the header won't be:
Main -> The Game World -> Items -> Items
What's your opinion?
Yeah, I thought so too – actually could have done so in the beginning; no point in keeping the same text and even if we change "Version" to "Build" down the line, at worst we'll do some ASF renaming for pages and just make a template.
You can go ahead and create it; if not I'll do that either today, tomorrow (as we have a national holiday tomorrow) or maybe a weekend, though I'll have to write a wiki post next week 😄
That's… all in the progress I'm aware 😩 The renamings I believe. Not sure if I can post the link to the planned categories yet @digital helm as you seem to have teased it once If my memory is right, or is it still too much work-in-progress-ish?
It was teased posted here @swift warren #pzwiki_editing message
Though TBF, not sure if much has changed here; there used to be comments but they stopped working for me IIRC? And it was just some ideas being discussed with me and Vai, but none was actually carried on.
It's also the reason why I didn't straight up delete https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navigation 😛
Also, "The Game World" is gonna to be renamed to "Category:Project Zomboid" most likely, though it was never carried so far see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Navigation_and_Categories#Phase_3_-_Tiles
A work for bot definitely, not gonna do that by hand anyway, so the current categorization will stay hopefully without work being lost on what we do so far
I also have to do some clearing out of https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Version_41.78&action=edit&redlink=1 now that retrieved works 😄 The main offender here was 300+ pages like this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Scripts_guide/Item_Script_Parameters/BadInMicrowave 😩
It's better to ping this image so that we can check it anytime.
done 🙂
@restive adder I notice that the wiki cannot recognize string parser functions. Is it possible to set $wgPFEnableStringFunctions = true to enable it?
Done here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Version_category. Tested in Version 41 and Version 41.78.16 pages, both works well.
It receives 3 param represent 3 versions: {{Version Category|41|78|16}}, should at least give one param or it will return nothing.
Also if been used in non-Category pages it will return nothing, too.
I try to parse whether the page name starts with Version to prevent wrong usage but the parser function doesn't work. I temporary commented that part and asked Kirrus for help.
The translated text is linked to the language subpages which receive 3 params, too.
If it works fine for you, then you can write a documentation for it (my en is not quite fluent so may cannot explain it's function that I think) and apply to the new version category pages. 😉
Hrm, tentatively yes. @languid kayak @digital helm your thoughts? https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ParserFunctions/String_functions . Does increase system load & complexity, but is limited
The ParserFunctions extension optionally defines various string functions if $wgPFEnableStringFunctions = true; is enabled.
These functions consist of len, pos, rpos, sub, replace and explode.
All of these functions operate in O(n) time complexity, making them safe against DoS attacks.
Notes:
Some parameters of these functions are limited thr...
It won't be called in many templates I think. Just another method to implement more features.
I'll take a look, but no sooner than tomorrow
Seems harmless enough I guess, apparently while it does add complexity, it's not much. Any specific use-case you have in mind for start @swift warren?
If enabled, I may look up other templates and make some improvements if possible. But currently I think it will only be used in Version category template.
BTW, I am patrolling this week's changes now, three things since you are here:
- https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Hc - I replied on the talk page, but I indeed think it could be removed - it was used to the old headers, right? And the colors aren't needed? If so, I'll mark it for deletion for a week or so
- https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:VersionNotice could indeed be phased out I believe? If so, I'll remove the references to it in help pages and mark it for deletion and point people into using Header instead
- I asked before, but I think you didn't reply, but I'm slowly wanting to include your work in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Header/sandbox – just have to add white highlight for links, but anything else I should know that will change drastically before I merge it?
@languid kayak I went ahead and did some work on the map pages, but I noticed on "Map (Item)" that it was requested to add a picture of every single annotated map? The gallery on that page would be huge.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Map_(item)
Are we still considering that? If so, I think we should make a new page for it and add it later down the line to avoid making that page any longer than it already is. I think that the pages are OK where they are for now though. Maybe you could take a look?
True. Can split it down to different pages I guess 🤔
I even through so of splitting regular maps from annotated maps, though they are widly similar
annotated map is just a relevant map with a different name and script attached; I don't even know what are the IDs since they are not shown in debug I believe? They don't appear as different items in item list in debug, that's what I tried to note 😄
Maybe we should add a small paragraph in the annotated map section that links to a gallery page later down the line.
I'm not super versed in parsing game files though, I've never delved that deep into files before
Definitely think it's worth looking into though
Of course I could just screenshot every annotated map though duh
- I think so. The new header colors are listed in
Infobox nc, which is created and maintained by Vaileasys. - It's ok.
- Sorry I thought you were reviewing it so I didn't bother. I suggest you change the current css class for the new header frame so that there will not have too much style. But as I have no permission on
common.cssand there are too much css settings, I didn't look up it carefully. Maybe you have to figure out which functions on the header, which not. Anyway, there will definitely be many edits before it finally works well. And you can redo it once you did something wrong, right?
I will also review it again and find if I can improve anything.
Maybe it's better to make the header consistent with the Languages? I mean remove the body part and make it the same style or similar to the Languages.
Before the new Header you may have to handle it first.
With this new template I may shorten the Header/sandbox further.
I'm no an expert too, but the debug tools are handy without even looking at the files.
I guess that'd be the way to go, as the game overlays the notes anyway, these can't really be extracted easily (well, you probably could, but that's basically rewriting what game already does :D)
Ad 3. true, common.css could use some love. I might take a look, maybe not today, but I'll see.
Ad 1.2 I'll slowly phased them out then, unless someone opposes? Header would be the main focus now.
Thanks for improving the Map https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Map page btw @naive imp!
I wonder, would it be also handy documenting minimap (with sandbox options) and debug options to it on that page, or does it belong to custom sandbox and debug mode pages-only respectively?
I think a minimap is fairly self explanatory, it's a pretty common feature. Maybe I'll add a few sentences explaining hoe to toggle it
*how
I wonder if the map will receive any overhaul later on, but so far I don't recall any teases for build 42 in thurstoids yet 😄
This is a very powerful extension. I use it with all of my major wikis.
I now wonder what to do with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Retrieved/ko and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Retrieved/th while your temp fix @swift warren at least did it so that there's no new categories created, it adds pages to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_39 (template itself and its documentation get added here, as it doesn't have support for the hidecat parameter) and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_41 respectively, while it should add to the incver, and a regional one on top of it. Those templates are based off of old version on top of that.
So far I added the "Retrieved" translations to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Translation but at that point, are we supposed to even use the regional templates or just the main one since it automatically adds subpages and translation? I could straight up remove them, though we'll lose the documentation for the Korean one…
Same with the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Header translations – these aren't used anymore, just the documentation is
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations#Translating_templates shoud probably be updated while at it, but I can't get my head wrapped around what templates are translated as such (and no worries fellow translators are too :D). It seems that you Vibrance and Vaileasys are the most informed how this all work 😛
Oh wait, I think I know how it works now; basically just the translation is included; I should probably do the same for Retrieved and other Header versions too https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Header/zh-hans&action=edit
That's added now, so far nothing broke, so should be good I hope 🤞
Hm, just found out that https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Retrieved doesn't add to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Unknown_Version either
It also seems that detecting subpage won't work on things like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Retrieved/ko/doc either
(sadly)
I updated the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations#Translating_templates too, correct me if there's something wrong
I just updated the versions and BTW, since you were digging old stuff back when Alluseri was updating the legacy NPC page @restive adder, is it possible to dig up such old info as what was the first version number before 0.1.2.a? The earliest edit by Mmicrophone list it as 0.? with the date of May 28, 2011 and description Pre alpha tech demo is released to everyone who pre-ordered. – unless someone here is the one who preordered the game and can dig up the e-mail/copy just to check what version was it?
Not sure there was a version number, it was just the tech demo
Guess I'm just gonna rename it to tech demo unless someone proves something wrong, the version number is just confusing IMO
Also, I have seen this edit; anyone know what is it about? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Survivor&curid=186&diff=160951&oldid=156663 What's the "barricaded city block" bug they are referencing to?
@jaunty torrent https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=PZwiki:Project_Locations_and_Maps&curid=18585&diff=161117&oldid=160607 this seems to be its name on the official map, but might be worth double-checking if it's indeed correct and not some mistake.
Gonna ask blindcoder next week when he'll be back, maybe we could get some locations added to the map as well: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZMap:StyleGuide
The template is quite neat indeed, though there's one caveat – the link sometimes have IWBUMS or some other text in it, e.g. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_41.14 linking to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_41#IWBUMS_Build_41.14 or https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_40.8 linking to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_40#Weather_Test_Build_40.8
Also, why parametrize the minor versions?
Wouldn't it be easier to have it {{Version Category|Build 41.12|IWBUMS Build 41.12}} with the third parameter being optional? Should be much easier IMO.
Also, I would like to have the Version/Build https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Navigation_and_Categories#Job_board resolved so we can name stuff proper 😉 (I'd think having everything named as "Build" would be easier, as in e.g., {{Header|version=Build 41.78.16}} (version definition is probably gonna stay for stuff similar to old versions like {{Obsolete|link=Knox Country|version=Patch 0.2.0r RC2.5}} or if the build denomination will ever be ditched (e.g., for past 1.0).
P.S. I gotta bring myself to clean up and add some missing version; e.g. the point ones for 41.78.xx
BTW, found another template I'm not sure we want to use? It's a clever template that added a button that brings back to Main Page/ja, though since then we rather went with improving multilanguage support (currently it requires having preferences set, but a button to go back to main page I believe it's redundant by now?) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:メインページへのリンク
Okay, guess that's it for me for today. Will get back to it probably later over to some cleanups/categorization, most likely mainly on Saturday, unless it'll be some small fixes or someone comes up and solves some of my questions/issues/problems, and then I'll summarize the month on Sunday 🙂
I wonder if the name for this page is correct, or should it be moved 🤔 Was probably named like this to avoid confusion with the item, but the sandbox option is literally called House Alarms Frequency
I suggest we preserve the translation pages but keep them empty so that the translators can translate the documentation for others to read.
However, some words like Unknown Version and the dateformat seem still need a translated version.
Maybe we can create a new notice box for templates who don't need to be translated except for the documentation.
I'll try to fix it then.
It's an outdated one, which may need to be consistent with the En one. So it's better to remove it.
Updated. You can check the new params and usage in the comment.
I noticed that many /doc pages which have a Documentation subpage notice all bracketed with a noinclude tag but the notice template can figure out whether to show up due to the page name it is transcluded. We may need to add a new task to run a bot to do the cleanup.
I reviewed the code just now. The links' color in the Header is determined by Infobox nc color list, so if you want to change the color, you may need to talk to Vaileasys to determine the resolution.
And I improved the code and fixed the bug of subpage and hidebody issue. You can check it out.
True; I should carry them over to translation database if they are present there. And if not, then someone native should 🤔
That would work, yeah.
Is the wiki accurate, or should it be used as a general guide, as with Wikipedia?
Mostly accurate, tho check what version the page is for, top right in the bar says what version of was last updated at
Keep in mind it's all human-contributed from 2011, so there might be human-made errors – if you spot some, feel free to correct. You can compare with game files, though these values sometimes are overwritten in-game.
The items and tiles still need a big sweep as a part of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Build_41_Update and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Seat_Yourself_Furniture respectively; might take a while to get it done, but the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Locations_and_Maps got a lot of love lately.
Also, keep in mind that translation often are based on old version and might have errors, especially as it's often hard to check them without actually spearking the language. For that refer to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Translations
But yeah, Wikipedia comparison is accurate, though there are references too and code boxes with the code to compare should be included
There's no English one either 😄 So yeah, it served its use I guess
Linked pages cleared. It's safe to remove it now.
Can have to make a list of things to clean up with bots 😩. I do have an ASF bot on a separate account, though I'm not really fond of using; last time I had trouble getting it to work for whatever reason plus I'm always scared of messing things up and setting stuff up requires a clear mind, so I often prefer to check stuff manually, but for some, I'd have to; too mundane 😛
I gotta wrap my head around settling the modding pages subpages, unless Vaileasys or anyone else with a bot want to, then go on!
It's the second-last dot from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks#Medium_priority (these three pages ideally shouldn't have subpages IMO and the script guide definitely shouldn't create categories, but I didn't think how to move them yet). These are all potentially a lot of useful info for folks though made by Aiteron, so I'd love to keep it, maintain and exposie it, and not lose anything
The player's initial choice of skills are very important and should be given careful consideration since skills they begin with receive an 'XP boost'
i got a brain anurism reading this
Maybe you can edit it in your word.
i didnt understand what it was even saying but now after reading for the 10th time i realized i cant read
So a <noinclude> is not needed at all? I don't get the second part you say explaining why; what do tyou mean by the "notice template"?
I also suppose this is related to this? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Subpage/doc&curid=23835&diff=161581&oldid=161579
Seems to work fine, I used it in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_0.2.0p – guess it could be used elsewhere now?
Just few things remaining
- writing a proper documentation (what's in comments is fine for starters, though!)
- how to apply it to non-English languages
- settle on unified naming (version vs patch/build, though maybe I'm overthinking it)
I moved the Cyrylic ones to /ru, now mostly https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:説明参照 is remaining, as i have no idea if there's an English equivalent?
is https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Imagelink still needed?
On one hand it seems handy on paper, but it's not used anywhere 🤔
Also we have https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Img_item
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Plainlist seems not to be really used anywhere, too
Yes, we actually don't need the noinclude tag. This tag used to hide the content when the page is transcluded in other pages (it's parent template documentation in this case). However, the documentation subpage can hide itself when it's in other pages without the help of noinclude.
It's better for you (or Vaileasys if he's available) to write the documentation.
The method how to apply it to non-English languages is commented in the template, which will detect the language code and call certain sub-template to use the translated text. You can refer to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Move and other similar notice templates' documentation.
I prefer the naming of the official note. (Using the name of what's on the release note is ok)
No En ver I think. 🤔
I noticed that you edited the Items page to add a [[Category:Items| ]] to make it top of the items category. Maybe we can add a link to it in the body of Category:Items page. Then categorize the Items page to it's (Category:items's) parent category, which can avoid the manual categorizing work (can be auto-done by Header).
@languid kayak Maybe I should figure it out that the current Documentation template can not be auto-translated so I have to add the /zh-hans to use the translated one. 😉
Yeah, seems about right since https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Documentation is inside <onlyinclude>. I'll take a look, especially now that I cleaned up some templates 🙂
oh, I missed that, I'll take a look later!
By link you mean a link like this? [[:Category:Items]] or to categorize it? [[Category:Items| ]]? Anyway, won't both make all items appear under " "?
oh sorry, might be copypasta. Can you link to it btw? If not, I'll find it later :P. But yeah, seems it's the reason you are the only one having a translated Documentation template I believe?
For Items page. I mean add a link to Items page in Category:Items page, under the header. And change the header of Items to {{Header|The Game World|...}} instead of {{Header|The Game World|Items|...}}.
Currently yes. I'll find a solution to it so that all template pages only need to use {{Documentation}} without adding a language code.
Ah, I forgot categories have header as well 🤔. I get what you want to do, but not 100% sure how exactly you want to achieve it, but feel free to try! Especially as I'm still adding the item categories and gotta figure out how I want them to categorized, it's constantly changing in my head 😛
Another option would be to expand {{Header}} to allow to add sort order, as I think it's not possible currently? https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Sorting
In many situations, lists of page titles or user names are sorted alphabetically by MediaWiki.
It is also possible to use JavaScript to sort lists of data that are included in page text.
But I think that in the end we won't have any actual items in Category:Items after the changes
Only sub-categories?
You seem to have lots of tasks to be done. I may wait until you finish them and apply the new header. Then is the Documentation improvement.
i want to translate articles but i want to know something before i dive in on all the technical stuff
is there anything wrong with directly translating an already existing page without adding anything? or the translation HAS to be made from scratch?
You can get what you want here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations.
i've read that yes, i suppose it's no issue then
Then head on. Someone else would correct it if you did something wrong.
great faal, thanks.
@languid kayak Do you think that later on we should expand Project Locations and Maps to the challenge maps as well once everything's all said and done with Knox Country? I mean it is Locations and MAPS after all.
Give a list of locations and places for each map, similar to the individual towns we have and the Knox Country page?
Or do you think that's worthy of a separate project? The challenge map pages are probably gonna seem really outdated once all of the base map locations are finished.
Just brainstorming
What do you think @jaunty torrent?
Sure; why not. I wish the tutorial map would use some love. Nowadays most of the tiles are to be found in the expanded map with Louisville for example, back then it had some unique ones, but there are still some easter eggs there.
Separate projects require time to set up and maintain, so if we can put it under one project, then why not 😛
I am still considering if it's worth adding Brandemburg and Ekron to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_Country - Brandenburg was there already in the past: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Knox_Country&oldid=33975#Brandenburg
question for folks- it seems like sawflies still exist as a food item, but from what I can tell are no longer in the foraging loot table? am I just doing that thing where you look for the ketchup in the fridge for ten minutes while staring directly at the ketchup?
just wanted to check since unilaterally moving pages to the Removed section gives me the willies
btw @jaunty torrent are you sure https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Pony_Roam-O should be classified as Fallas Lake? While it's relatively close, I believe only the town there is considered?
It says so here 🤔 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Sawfly_Larva#Foraging
And it would be right, it's not mentioned anywhere relevant in game files
Oh, yeah- I stuck that in the other day (or today, maybe? what is time) I just didn't want to take further action integrating sawfly into other articles/further working on the sawfly article without a confirmation that was the case
I'll leave it out of the other places I'm updating the bugs, then- but should I go through with moving it to removed?
(also, fun but useless fact, apparently the monarch caterpillar image link from the raw item scoop ids the pixelart as Insect_MonarchrCaterpillar.png ...wonder if that's just a typo? It did give me a bit of a headscratch for a minute)
Was it even implemented? If not, then technically it's not removed, but unimplemented, you can add it to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Unimplemented_items then
yup, a typo. Have plenty of these, it's just how it's stored in the game. Could technically make a redirect correcting those, though the game's full of it, that's why me and Vaileasys were considering keepint the name verbatim with Item_ prefix, but it's a lot of hassle to do so
BTW, Angostura is you I guess? Good work on bringing the food up to date 🙂
I'm currently working on misc items slowly, but so far just organization stuff on the main page to have a proper list of items, so will take a while to actually add actual items.
is the pz wiki self hosted?
It's hosted by the PZ devs for quite a while on the same space that projectzomboid.com though the name stayed
I'm lazy 😄
Once I had it something fancy then I stopped caring and just keep it at default; same with the terminal emulator and shell
yeah,I now wonder if the --color=auto is something I added?
[faalagorn@faalagorn-pc ~]$ cat ~/.bashrc
#
# ~/.bashrc
#
# If not running interactively, don't do anything
[[ $- != *i* ]] && return
#alias ls='ls --color=auto'
alias ls='ls --time-style="+%F %X" --color=auto'
PS1='[\u@\h \W]\$ '
it's different on install media I think, as it uses zhs
That's the default: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/bash/-/blob/main/dot.bashrc?ref_type=heads
I seeoo to have just added the time formatting for ls 😄
oh yeah, I seem to not have it as well
It's been added in February this year
Okay, time for the new monthly summary, summarizing October and the first 5 days of November! https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:News#November_2023
Thank you everyone for helping this month, was a lot of work done! 💚
All in a good months work. Thanks for the shoutout.
I'd also like to thank everyone that contributed to the Locations and Maps project this month! We still have a lot to do, but we've made great strides! At this rate all the spawn towns will be finished hopefully by the end of the year
I already sent it to Vaileasys on private, but I've been thinking of including https://www.youtube.com/@Game_Block videos more prominently maybe – @jaunty torrent already started doing so and the channel seem to include every location every 2 days for quite a while, seems useful. If in doubt/question, there is an e-mail to contat with, too
sure.
i am indifferent to where we decide it should be located at. you mentioned this on the talk page for this location also, for anyone who cares to read it.
thanks for doing this, and everything else Faal
oh he finally got an email, i ask him to set up his email.
oh, nice, you are in contact? I'd have to take a look at adding videos to the site properly and then can proceed with the location if no one minds
BTW, I did ask before, but anyone have an idea what's this barricaded city block is about? In Louisville, I haven't been playing in LV really. https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Survivor&curid=186&diff=160951&oldid=156663
no. I text him on his channel and he never responds. But i did sugggest he add an email.
I think it should be removed. I dont know anything about it.
I am using google chrome. I looked at the challenge maps. Interesting 2 have spiffo's. one has a fossoil and knox bank.
The problem I had is in the challenge maps, when I select a level, nothing happens, the roof of these buildings remain invisible and I cannot therefore find the name of the business if there is a sign above the door. Everyone else having the same problems?
In the official map? Yes
You have to check in-game
Also the tutorial map isn't there
Huh, I was on chrome as well but I was able to change levels just fine if I remember correctly?
I was tired that night so maybe I'm misremembering?
Idk
on challenge maps? Such as kingsmouth, studio and the two challenge maps? For me it doesn't work on Firexfor
Microsoft edge, the levels on the challenge map and other maps like studio also do not work. So they dont work for firefox edge or chrome.
Yeah, it's the map's issue. I'll be sure to mention that to blindcoder, maybe he can get it to work 😛
I'm not even 100% sure that the challenge maps are up to date to the latest version (but I believe so, as they aren't changing much if at all?)
In any case, they aren't due for a wiki update for a while. I'm sure blindcoder will have it fixed by then
Well, all things are getting slowly, so no rush at either side, build 42 will take a while as well, so we'll be ironing wiki till then and we'll see if any of the map updates could be picked up inbetwee 😛
BTW, I fleshed up https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Map_Project_POI_submission_style_guideline a little – I wasn't aware of this page existence until Kate Aces from Fallout Wiki digged it up, but it's linked in the POI submission form in https://map.projectzomboid.com/ – something I wasn't aware and I have no idea how much adding POIs been utilized. No idea how many of those blue POI dots were done by blindcoder himself and which ones are user-contributed that got moderated and added to the ma eventually 😛
how do these crafting templates work? i've seen other translated pages adding /es in that specific section in order to translate it's contents, but it doesn't seem to work for some reason
These were translated here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Crafting_cooking but I'm pretty sure @digital helm was working on a way to have them translated automatically based on the content from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Translation and avoid using the /xx variant, though not sure if it works currently
yeah i've seen that it roughly translates some items when working on the medical page
thanks pal
I see some of the words are in Spasnish here indeed, so maybe those were simply missing 😛 https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Translation/es&action=edit
ok i see why out of all the crafting pages cooking is missing
using /es works on all other pages exept cooking
why? magic
oh well i'll do another page dw
Majority are user submitted at this point I think?
And yeah please do let blindcoder know about the levels problem
Yeah, he said to DM him during the week, so I will 😛
Not sure how much he wants to update the map too, same applies to community map (though they are outdated at this point I believe) and the savegame map (which only has alexandria from 2015; I sometimes use it to see how the map looked back in the days, I kinda miss the option to see historic maps, IIRC it was the case for some time and few versions back)
The map is a massive data sink, both in terms of storage and transit costs so keeping it to the more essentials is helpful
Yeah, I believe so 😛
not sure how much the overlay new denver/bedford and otr are used nowadays, as the map is so big, especially now the most prolific modders do help create content for the build 42 and beyond
I'm editing water container page now, why these two tooltips are different? Remoulade bottle only have the "Sterilize by boling in microwave" and the orange soda water bottle has this plus "Contents can be purified in a microwave"
Probably just an oversight
Okay, I updated the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Water#Containers and apparently everything can be boiled in microwave now, though for metal items you risk catching fire, so it might be worth changing one column
please confirm the seasons vs months? it seems the information on spear fishing in winter and the seasons timing on when winter is, are conflicting
I believe the game counts only months, but I'm not sure? Either someone here on in #mod_support could confirm by reading the game files?
I believe this part
From November to February the success rate of catching fish is reduced by 20%.
Would be the accurate, though I haven't check that
yeah that's 4 months, hence the uncertainty. everything else on seasons appear to be divided into 3 month chunks
Okay, so I updated the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bags with the missing new bugs, but I don't get how "Full encumbrance" is calculated – do we even want it?
On one hand, it seems handy, but I'm not sure if I understand it right? Shouldn't it be encumbrance*0,3 + Capacity*(1-Encumbrance Reduction)?
Also, while I said in today's news that the food items are done, it seems that even after redirecting, we have some without a page – I added some to the list and some I'm undecided where to redirect (sacks; I guess to respective vegetable/fruit? aswell as rolled dough, baking tray with bread as well as wine in a glass which I'm not sure are implemented yet, I'd have to check; then there's the full bottle of mayonnaise and half bottle of remoulade, these are old remnants as well, so I'll have to see which are still available in debug and deal with the outdated items respectively)
how do i make redirects? i want to redirect "Emisora" to "Ham radio/es"
On the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Emirosa page click "Create" (assuming you're on English) and type/paste #REDIRECT [[Ham Radio/es]] (uppercase r for Radio, to fit the style guide). There should be button for it if you use the visual editor too
On it- I'll take a look and see what doesn't have a page and try and knock them out! Not sure how to check on something to see if it's unimplimented or removed, but I'll defer to you folks on that.
(and to answer your earlier question cause I may or may not have slept this weekend away again- yup, Angostura! Wasn't able to change my nickname here, sorry for any confusion )
hi it's me again... how do i change the game date in debug mode? is it possible? or is my best bet to use super fast forward and wait?
@swift warren Hey, do you happen to know if there's a "dedicated" PZ community website for Chinese players?
Am aware of the wiki you've linked to before, but was wondering if there's basically a sort of "go-to" place where Chinese players would go to for PZ discussions.
for the unimplemented you'd have to basically check if it's present in any loot tables or lua files, I do this by searching all files' content in the game folder
Not Chinese myself, but I believe folks gather on Billibili? There were mentions in GitHub translations before https://github.com/TheIndieStone/ProjectZomboidTranslations/issues?q=bilibili
I'm undecided on how to list seeds, these are currently listed in two places:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Equipment#Seeds
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Material#Seeds
For me they don't belong to either category; thoughts? It's not food either technically (you can't eat seeds currently), they are classified as Gardening in-game now.
I made a new page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Seeds for now and I'll see where/how to include it on the items page
Faal is right. One of the platform we can discuss pz iw bilibili. But it is a video platform like youyube, there is not a dedicated link can be provided. Maybe a qq group is more suitable for you requirement. As far as i know, some of the top upers are maintaining a fan qq group for pz players.
If permitted, I can replace some of the youtube or steamcommunity links to bilibili ones in zh-hans pages as many of us may have no access to both sites, which can be a friendly way.
I reviewed the discussion on github and I even didn't know this issue. 😕
People like the former translator is not quite few in China tbh. So I'm careful to not add extra links in the wiki as if I did, someone will know and come here to introduce their links for some benefits(or any other things).
I saw the Vehicles and Mechanics project is finished. Should I still have to add the translated pages to this category?
@languid kayak I made some improvements on Languages and its sub-template /Lang. Before this we have to add a page name manually to the template to make it work ({{Languages|:Category:Main}}) for the reason that the category pages don't have subpage. I changed the condition phrase which can recognize the category page name, so we can use {{Languages}} now.
I have tested the new template on category pages and normal pages including pages with and without subpage name. All work well.
I also fixed issue that the Languages text judge whether page languages policy has a translated version but the icon's link doesn't, which is a small improvement.
Remember the Languages and /Lang are both edited so the improvement can be applied.
the sandbox links are here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Languages/sandbox and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Languages/sandbox/Lang
Before merge the code, you should change the code of Languages:
{{Languages/sandbox/Lang|cs|{{{1|}}}
}}...
into
{{Languages/Lang|cs|{{{1|}}}
}}...
which is the template name I used for test case.
You can delete these pages after the merge.
Nice! I think Vaileasys tried that too. Will check that latet when I'll be in front of a PC
Can someone explain the phrase Guns 'a' Blazin' in Police Officers are very effective with firearms, as such this profession is great if you want to face the hordes of the undead Guns 'a' Blazin' for me, please? I'm not familiar with it and I have no idea how to translate it.
All New Locations Added Into Project Zomboid so far
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnn9z0IVm_c
Today I will show you the 3 new locations that have been added into Project Zomboid and if we should be expecting anymore new locations before the massive build 42 update comes out.
I dont know. Just want to let you know that we read your question.
blazing is the light that comes from the firearm.
It means facing the undead with a lot of bullets from your gun.
What a terribly written and unprofessional fanboy sentence. facepalm
Police Officers are very effective with firearms, as such this profession is great if you want to face the hordes of the undead with guns.
That is a better written sentence.
There happens to be a guns a blazin hotel.
yeah, it's a play on words https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/with-guns-blazing here Inn part of being type of the building
so in looking at the toast page, realized a few speedbumps: how should I handle the uncooked-> cooked -> burned table when toast can't be uncooked? I've tried monkeying with the table but it looks like removing the uncooked bar also removes the options for the burnt bar. Which makes sense, toast is just funky.
also, it looks like in the code toast is listed as a full evolved recipie but isn't listed in here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients . I see in the pagecode there's some items that need to be added in general, but my main question is, would adding a "toast" section throw off the retreival process for other articles?
where is the toast page? I couldnt find it.
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?search=toast
Ah, sorry- looking at where the toast page is going to be, I should have been more clear. I'm in the process of making it, so "in working on the toast page" might have been better phrasing
I was fooling around with the table the bacon strips page had for using on the toast page, but couldn't remove the uncooked section and couldn't find another item that had the capacity to be "burned" but not "uncooked"
though I think I might be getting bogged down in the technicalities of the cooked vs uncooked state of toast
I transfered the template for bacon, using the subst: command,
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Ikip/test
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=User:Ikip/test&action=edit
you can create your own template just for toast. replacing the word uncooked for bread and cooked for toast.
There's an error on the Bag of Conrete Powder page. The Item ID say Base.PlasterPowder
thank you reavz. be bold and edit it. I dont know enough about the coding to check and change it.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bag_of_Concrete_Powder
I didn't look at it, but template might be adjusted, even if it's just for the toast. Gotta take a look at it someday™
Recipe ingredients is a behemoth me and Vaileasys didn't try cleaning up yet, so YMMV 😛
There's no official name still, though folks in comments mention Brandenburg already. Though we had the Ekron/Fallas Lake confusion before 😛
Fair enough! Yall cant be everywhere at once and its a big wiki. I'll give it a go adding to it, and we can always revert if anything gets funky. I can probably start off by seeing how it reacts to rodent meat or wild garlic, since those seem to be marked as needed for most things. Thanks!
Actually, PZwiki isn't that big compared to some other game wiki behemoths, but yeah, hard to grasp it all sometimes. Trying to, though™ 😛
And yeah, go on, everything can be reverted if things go awry, but they usually don't 😛
@languid kayak I wrote a simple doc for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Version_category with some help from GPT. And I leave an improve notice there. Please take a look and improve the grammar or expression where may not be easy to understand while you are available. Then remove the notice after the review. 💚
I saw your edits lately to the recipe ingredients page @dusk yew; you think it's safe to bump the page to 41.78.16?
Ah, yeah- I didn't want to edit the version number unilaterally, if only because my updates were just the items listed as missing in the code, if they applied/existed. Plus a few here and there that I personally noticed. I'm no authority, but I can't see why not, in theory?
I have the toast entry cooking as well, so that should be folded in soon, but I don't know if "complete" and "current" are the same when it comes to version date
@tough depot is this edit correct? Changing "items" to "itens" in pt-br, or should I change it back?
It's itens in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Main_Page/pt-br
how are you supposed to translate crafting headers? these are the configurations i've tried and none of them translate
{{Crafting header/xx}} I believe is still to do, and for that a Template:Crafting header/xx needs to be created, where xx is the language spoken
but there was some updates with some words being picked automatically from dictionary from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Translation so I'm not sure what's the state currently…
The documentation for templates still need to be done, however
oh, it does work (sometimes), but it's kinda unreliable so i wanted to know it there was another way
well, i have visited march ridge for the first time, what a waste of time. nothing to see there. 🤷

@languid kayak here are collected questions for the game creator and map creator:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Locations_and_Maps#Questions_for_the_game_staff_and_map_creator
please add any that you may have guys.

the wikipedia fandom project zomboid has only one editor in the past month:
https://projectzomboid.fandom.com/wiki/Special:RecentChanges?hidebots=1&limit=1000&days=30&enhanced=1&urlversion=2
I invited him to come to us. hopefully he takes us up on it.
Thanks for the pin! I DMed blindcoder yesterday with the question about the Pie Palace, whether it's official or just user-submitted content (see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Map_Project_POI_submission_style_guideline), might be the latter and mentioned the inability to zoom the challenge maps, but didn't got back from him yet. Maybe I'll get some reply during the week though, as I only dmed him during the weekend as that's when I was able to 😛
Thanks! The FANDOM/wikia one never was the official one, though sometimes people stumble upon it thinking fandom being a central for all the wikis (which is why the Indepentend Fallout wiki asks the non-FANDOM ones to promote each other)
I also think you linked a wrong image @jaunty torrent and wanted to link https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Welcome_to_fort_knox.png ? I believe this is nowhere to be found yet, was the same before we got Louisville and these tiles were nowhere to be found https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Faalagorn/Unused_tiles - might be the same with the Outreach Center
Thanks for response. I added one more question, about I Love Wok and Rolls.
''Here we can add questions for the game staff or the map creator (blindcoder), for [[User:Faalagorn]] to ask in Discord.''
- [[Crystal Pie Place]] is it the offical name of the location?
- Is the restaurant called [[Wok and Rolls]] or [[I Love Wok and Rolls]]?
- [[:File:Welcome_to_fort_knox.png]] where is this sign?
- Where is the [[Outreach Center]]?
- Challenge maps - currently a person cannot see the levels, stories and roofs when they toggle the "levels".

RE: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Faalagorn/Unused_tiles#Removed
The corn being removed, Have you been to the corn maze? it is on the main blindoder map.
Also the spiffo statue appears in the game correct? it is on the main blinkcoder map:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Spiffo's_headquarters.png
https://map.projectzomboid.com/?#12716x1635

I invited the fandom editor to join us on his talk page. I also invited the author of the vehicle towing article.
Wok and Rolls is from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Adverts#Wok_and_Rolls and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Adverts#Wok_and_Rolls_2 – the "love" isn't capitalized, so I assumed it's not part of the name
brilliant deduction! @languid kayak interested in your thoughts on the spiffo statute, corn and turnstile.

I prefer to remove Tooks from "businesses", but if you all want it to stay, since it is red linked, I want to make the tooks page, https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Tooks&action=edit&redlink=1
Anything more than this ad to use for the article:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Adverts#Tooks_Bear ?
I created https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Incontileve after I believe it was added back.

Is the redlinked March Ridge Dormitory
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=March_Ridge_Dormitory&action=edit&redlink=1
The knox military apartments?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_Military_Apartments
Someone please double check me, but I believe https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Survivor#Survivor_homes are sepearte from survivor stories? Also, the text could use some copy-editing

@languid kayak
Do you want me to quickly create a page for each of the red linked clothing, idenitifying that it is clothing and with the infobox template?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_clothing
Dunno. is the spiffo statue really not in the game?
I contacted the editor and creator of the page
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User_talk:OutdatedNameGuy
to tell him the page was redirected.
I copy edited the article also.

is this in fact an error? This is from statement above:
There's an error on the Bag of Conrete (sic) Powder page. The Item ID say Base.PlasterPowder
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bag_of_Concrete_Powder
you can do it, yeah. It was a while since I did a sweep for clothing, but the pages in navbox should be more-or-less accurate as of 41.78.16
I am now (lazily) working on ammunitions; junk was done as well, but there's no navbox for it
Yeah, might be wise to let them now, thanks 😄 My game knowledge is fuzzy still, but I believe survivor homes was there before survivor stories and they should be separate I believve
It's Base.PlasterPowder for Bag of Plaster Powder and Base.ConcreatePowder for Bag of Concrete Powder
I correct it though, thanks!
btw @swift warren you spend a lot time on wiki, yet you said that some Chinese players instead find setting up a sepaarate wiki better; is there anything we could do to make it pzwiki more accessible for the other chinese folks to combine effort? Seems a waste effort to split work towards mainaining two separate wikis 😩
First of all, the cn wiki they created is now maintained by few people because many of us don't visit wiki for help frequently.
And the wiki they created is mainly introducing some interesting mods instead of the vanilla game. That site for them may more like a forum but not a wiki.
The reason why they didn't visit the official wiki is partly because the wiki is not easy to access due to the network block in China(but i can so i'm not sure).
Anyway, i'll try to get contact and invite some of them.
i cant believe the amount of work (mostly) you put in to change the version 41.78.16 🤷
There has got to be an easier way. 🤷

This is what I created as an example, if you want I can add the same to the other red links.

Sounds great.
nice to talk to you finally vibrance.
For items you could use script to extract the versions from the txt files; I believe some folks worked on such stuff for some items, but never for everything at once
So far I just patrol the recent changes and change things on the go 😄
ah, the network limits indeed makes sense. Not sure how PZ is visible for the geoblocked folks from the China, I'd have to check if it's on the Chinese-only Steam 🤔. In any case, if it'd be some internationalization issue though, let me know.
BTW, want to copy anything from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navigation/zh-hans before I remove it @swift warren? I believe the names are all carried over to the categories, but you might want to take a look before it's gone :p
It's OK, nothing to do with the navigation table.
gonna remove it now then 🙂
When cleaning up the Japanese navigation table, I stumbled on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User_talk:Alicia – it seems the MalonyJenkins used a fancy styling for the talk pages back in 2017-2018; while the colors has changed now, I was wondering, would something like that be nice to have, or would it be too much hassle to maintain? What do you guys think? It would probably require some evaluation how to do it most clever though 🤔
By the way, the request was never fulfilled, and it was never translated, Malony was the only contributor 😛
I'm in contact with them. But some of them seem to have had a conflict with us(I don't know the certain person but not the admin I believe).
"us" as in the wiki editors or this Discord, or…?
Maybe we can design a template for it but I personally don't recommend it. The wiki should be as simple as possible instead of fancy, especially in talk pages other than usual pages.
I don't get the details. 😔
But to be frank it's hard for us to get contact with the foreign developers or admins in most games.
So maybe some bad people would do something between us.
no worries, was just curious actually; nothing too important 🙂
@swift warren I'm doing some tests for the Languages template now. Everything seems good except there's a bug when you add a page name manually.
E.g. {{Languages/sandbox|Weapons}}
Looks like there's a space being added between the basepage name and the subpage/language code, but I can't find where it gets added. (I've forgotten how this template works). Can you take a look?
Other than that, it seems to be much better than the current template. Good job!
@swift warren As for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Header/sandbox it changes the link styling for everything within the "table" with class="tp-header". I'm not sure about the best fix for this.
Everything else I tested seems good though. (brief test)
Worked now.
Or we can provide a new class for it?
e.g. pz-header
Looks good! Going to swap it over now.
I'm happy with that. Just send me the css code
I believe you can handle it after reviewing the code. 😉
They wonder now that you are the official wiki site. What advantages do you have compared with other unofficial site?(e.g. can you get more info from the developers about the game)
haha, you are doing the same what I started checking 😄
but with my technical templates knowledge it's all mumbo jumbo; so I'd be hoping nothing breaks 🤞 , so better you eye it then
unless nothing changes, the underline colors didn't work for me last time I checked, too
for the header category links
both wiki and Discord are official so technically yeah, we do get easier support from the devs if asked, but we don't have any early internal builds or whatever else that's not public
It seems that they can get access to the wiki. So we can assume there is no network block to the wiki in China.
Jealous, still waiting for mine to arrive!
We need to update the Spiffo page the plushies! Also this https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Spiffo_Plush
The Spiffo Plush is a pet-summoning item which summons a Spiffo pet that follows the player around. It has a 1/1500 (0.07%) chance of being dropped by most kinds of Zombies.
both the wiki's cooking recipe page and the bourbon page list the bourbon as stew and soup's ingredients
however, I couldn't find any option to add the bourbon to the stew or soup in game. Could this be an error?
was surprised it arrived so quickly; was scheduled for December 😛
Yeah, actually that's a good idea to have both 😛
Seems that the cn wiki is more...modern? And they thought much data in en wiki is outdated. It is also much more convenient to publicize some pz ups in bilibili as well as some servers.
I still personally recommend add a translate extension, which will be much more convenient for editors to sync with en pages now that you intend to make all languages' pages' info is the same instead of make each languages has a separated sub-wiki (just like cn wiki opposite to the en one in oxygennotincluded).
Well, IIRC they use something else instead of MediaWiki for it. I've personally never edited a non-mediawiki wiki before, and they are not common here 😛
Yeah, that should be done eventually. @restive adder I doubt you looked at the extension more from the last time we talked? Also pinging @digital helm as he was checking it as well.
I didn't find out which engine it is powered. The way of editing is not similar to MediaWiki, too.
BTW the cn wiki is more friendly on mobile phone. I think improve these factors can actually attract more contributors.
yeah, we know, even if neighter of us is fan of mobile editing 😆
No, I need to get a proper staging copy of the wiki up, and test there. Theme is todo
This is now enabled
I did list them all previously in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks#On_hold but some are most likely not so easy to grasp under the hood so no ETAs on those ones if you want to keep track 😛 @swift warren
Maybe it's time to level up their priorities as now the tasks in high priority are not that easy to finish.
@languid kayak COund I have your opinion on this? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template_talk:Navbox_businesses Curious what you think
Yeah, slowly I guess, though leaving them here, as it requires Kirrus magic for them and then I guess lots of mine and Vaileasys attention afterwards to make them behave nice 😛
@languid kayak @jaunty torrent reference sketch based on what was discussed in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template_talk:Navbox_businesses
Forgive my shitty handwriting lol
But yeah the hyphens represented the different categories of building which would then have locations under it
So ex.
supermarkets and then GigaMart underneath
Basically the same thing Ikip was already doing just with all the other categories and integrating other categories into larger ones as discussed in the talk page
still better than mine 😄
That is not physically possible lol
Sometimes I can't read what I wrote 😉 I should be a doc writing prescriptions
Seems so, though I will probably made it as a
- list
** someday
to better grasp it 😛
Though if you want to, you can carry on, as everything seems sane so far 👌
Ok sweet. I want to finish up Muldraugh first but as soon as that's all done I'll get on it if ikip hasn't already
I k ow he was doing some work as of late so I want to give him a bit to contribute too don't wanna leave him out
I saw Ikip updated some old Knox County pages with some trivias about old businesses; I'm marking them as patrolled for now but if I won't forget they might need some minor cleanups too 😛
oh btw @naive imp and @jaunty torrent I talked with blindcoder and basically yeah, everything that's on PZmap is community-made, so the names there are can't be counted as official, but there might be a new moderation feature soon™ so we could get names corrected/unified eventually 🙂
I figured so. Did you mention the challenge map issue too?
yup
I always went by visible signs and room definitions anyway
Ok good. I'm sure it'll be done by the time challenge maps come around on the todo list
Still got a lot of work to do before then
The fix to {{Language}} template that doesn't require specifying category name seems to work just fine and is a real hassle saver, thanks a lot for that Vibrance 😄
BTW @naive imp where is soup kitchen mentioned in-game? Can't find it in radio, though I found that https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Muldraugh page lists it (I also changed the name to sentence case btw)
I can't remember where off the top of my head, but it was either NNR or one of the news agencies talking about how Muldraugh was already badly b
Poor before the Knox event
I'll remove it if either of us can't find it bc I'm like 80 percent sure I heard it somewhere
I searched the game files and what we have on wiki and couldn't find it 🤔 The only soup mention was in the life and living
Hm. I'll remove it then. Nbd

good eye! I'll go in and fix it, thanks for the alert. It seems like it used to be usable in soup and stew, but has since been removed.
thx!
Guys, a question, should I add Alarm Clock, Digital Watch and Camera to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Electronics despite them not being categorized as such in-game?
Alarm Clock is Household, Digital Watches are Accessory (since they can be worn) and Cameras are, oddly, Junk.
And if so, should I not list them on household and junk? Currently cameras are in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Junk but I'm wondering whether I should add the missing items to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Household though I'm generally not really fond of duplicating what's already in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Weapons 🤔
I would put them in their respective categories, but maybe there could be a note in electronics? Like a note at the top that links to the three items, like "Note: Despite not being listed in the files as electronics, [[alarm clock]], [[digital watches]] and [[cameras]] can also be dismantled for resources and experience with a screwdriver."
Alarm clock was there before, same with digital watch https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Electronics&oldid=118143 (though the ID changed)
That's how I did it intially, they are now mentioned in see also, though the drawback is that there's no information on the page that they can be scrapped for electrical parts
(also, toast advanced recipe table is all but done, just having trouble with this part. anyone know how these numbers are chosen or found? I checked the crafting cooking article and it uses the same format. )
but yeah, a note would be sufficient I believe
ahhh gotcha!
Maybe a little table at the bottom, then? Like call the table "pseudo-electronics" or something?
nah, would rather have them in either electronics or household in one place to avoid duplication and that's it.
ah, valid
The household category is kinda messed; it includes mostly cleaning and stationery, but also ripped sheets (not useful for cleaning at all), plunger, letter opener and… chair leg? (they are listed in weapons)
Oh and umbrellas
Though there is already some duplication if I list Broom, Scissors, Pens and Pencil since they are listed in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Weapons already. Though on the other hand, same can be said about plank and handle in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Material or most things in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tools
You mean crafting cooking IDs? These are listed in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Crafting_cooking
271 is Pancakes (Cooked) while 129 is Pancakes (Uncooked)
Unless you mean how the numbers were chosen, I believe they are assigned by hand, so if you'd like to add toast, you'd have to come up with new numbers I believe?
Vaileasys might know more, though it's all going back to the old template that was replaced
I added alarm clock to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Household#Other and moved extinguisher there
tbh i tought electronics was anything that spat out electronic scrap
i tought it was kinda strange when i didn't saw them in the page but it was like that for a reason ig
@dusk yew pretty much what Faal said. The numbers are just an index. You call the number for a particular recipe and it's displayed. Numbers are chosen mostly random. The first number is intended to be the group/type, i.e. "cooked" (2..) and "preparation" (1..). The last 2 numbers can be whatever. All numbers must be unique, and should never be re-used.
Because of the index referencing, it'll be near impossible to know what pages have which recipes on them.
I hope that makes sense
yeah, the in-game classifications are messy 😩. I try to follow the in-game names now that we have it, but they need tweeks. Hopefully build 42 will improve things a little, as having them is a start at least.
BTW guys, should I add junk items classified as "Cooking" into tools or into junk? They aren't even a weapon (or clothing for gloves; too bad, you can't even rip them):
- Carving Fork
- Grill Brush
- Kitchen Tongs
- Oven mitt
yeah i think they fit the "description" of pretty much useless item added for immersion
unless they just happen to add a food bonus for brushing your grills (they did not) it seems pretty reasonable
I agree, anything that doesn't have a function should be junk. Unless you'd consider it a collectible (I felt bad about calling the Spiffo plush "junk" 🙁)
Well, they have their own category now: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Plush_toys and no longer are classified as junk, though picture of kate (and other pictures) are junk now (and so are the cameras; yikes) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Junk
Gotcha, this might be the info I need, along with the page faal linked! looks like I need to make one fresh for toast, fingers crossed.
thanks for the help yall, promise toast will exist at some point for all those lonely avocadoes
@languid kayak I notice the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Maintenance_templates category is highly coincident with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Mbox_templates. How about merging them together?
I thought so too yesterday; @digital helm what's the reasoning behind mbox templates category? Are both categories needed
Possibly not. Mbox templates are specific and maintenance is more broad.
Or put mbox as a subcategory of maintenance? Not sure how organised it should be
But currently the maintenance template category doesn't contain many more pages. If there were not more maintenance templates which is not a Mbox template then it is suggested to merge them together. Or move the Mbox template category into maintenance category's subcategory if you plan to add more templates there.
I'll take a look, possibly later today
Don't forget to use Version category template in the category pages so that I can fix it before b42 arrives once there is any issue on it. 👀
yeah 😄 I guess I'll just move on plainly using it I believe, as it's all fine. Have you updated it after you did the tweak that doesn't require setting category for {{Languages}}?
If you mean do we still need to add category name manually, the answer is no. But now that the string parser function extension is enabled, i may make it do further check on page name in case someone use it in wrong pages.
I will send you the updated code once I finished.
well, futzing something up here, anybody know what? I made toast to go after lobster in the cooked section, but it's not showing up in the preview :\
Is this just the preview or something live? I was looking at the change, but I can't see it? Some things can't be easily previewed, so either go wild, we can reverse if things go awry, or test in a sandbox (or your user page)
@languid kayak lets discuss the building template on the wiki. It is easier there, and there is a record of what is said, etc.
If you are talking about how to split business navbox. My suggestion is to create a sub-title after each first column like the image below.
might be the best idea actually; don't we have such templates already anyway?
Seems not? At least not when I quickly looked at https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Navbox
Emm, I have not checked this template yet. But seems it cannot be used for my idea.
Here's an example from Wikipedia though
yes, i know how to do it
They use two shades of the same color for the sub-sections
just havent gotten around to the coding
I'll take a look, too.
Well we're still on the phase of deciding the main category layout so things might take time™ 😄
Though I'm finally grasping my head around it
It seems that the Navbox/Core doesn't provide the method to apply a sub-title. Maybe we can add more parameters on it.
yes, there are many many templates that can do this on wikipedia
It uses sub-table to add sub-title.
If so I may know how to imply it.
But may take time to fix the style.
It uses lua modules to render the table which we cannot.😔
Though we can create one specifically for this function, it can be hard to maintain.
Is this what you want?
The improved style. @languid kayak @jaunty torrent

How do i check in game files, I have seen comments on youtube describing what is supposed to be in a location. I reversed engineered Dead Rising, modded the games. I had a great wiki, which i gave to fandom, owned by wikipedia.

yes. that is how you do it. just like the song

thank you
Here is the example code, which uses two templates: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox/Core/sandbox and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox/sandbox. Both need further test before replacing the existing one.

where did you test this out at?
I see only yhe sublist1 added as a new box.
I have never seen that before:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:ExpandTemplates
wow.
can you type up how this would work? sublist1 etc.
Here
Where I show the code.
can you add https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_businesses auto?
I didn't get your idea. What do you want?
or if easier,
|group6 = Industrial
|list6 =

can you change storage to have a subheader
Sorry no. If you don't add a subtitle parameter, the celling will add padding: 4px; style automatically, which is ugly for the sub-table.
emm wait a minute.
can you change this with the subheader, using the sublist1 ?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Ikip/test2
Here you are.
i remember thank you very very much
can it be {{Navbox/sandbox or something else?
I type it here without testing it. So may have some bugs.
You can move that sub-template to other positions which will rename it.
It is suggested to move it to the Template:Navbox/xxx which indicates it is a sub-template of Template:Navbox and should not be used in Other templates.
You can even add more sub-titles if you need, which just needs minor changes on the sub-template.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_businesses
how about changing the sub sections to a slightly lighter color.?

So the name Template:Navbox/xxx
?
It should be a small change. Feel free to edit it. I only offer the code to you.
i moved template sandbox to template xxx as you suggested
xxx means any title you want instead of a specific name. 😂
the color is 68191B
yes i didnt wait for answer
that is the color, now I am trying to find a color picker online
You can discuss the details with Faal or ThinkDock1721.
how would i change the sub categories color?
https://icolorpalette.com/color/68191b
easier to ask you then take an hour to figure it out
Thanks @swift warren
Color space information Surya Red ( similar ) Color | 68191b. Similar Pantone Color name Information, Color Schemes, Light / Darkshades, Tones, Similar Colors , Preview the color and download Photoshop swatch and solid color background image
yes, i want to change the color of the subsection only, keeping everything the same color otherwise
so auto would be a different color then retail stores, for example
What background color do you want to edit? auto or retail stores?
auto, the new subsection colors
Emm, it can be hard, but not impossible.
no worries, dont worry
just want it to look pretty
the prettier it is, the less problems in the future.
THANKS VIBRANCE 🙂
Emm I need the concrete color code.
I don't know how lighter do you want
Like this?
Seems weird.
something isnt right. I am looking at it now.
| group6 = Grocery & liquor
| list6 =
and beyond doesn't work. I thought you changed everything to 10

try #831f22 see what it looks like if you are bored.
Not bad.
Better, but it's kind of too...pink?
Color space information Surya Red ( similar ) Color | 68191b. Similar Pantone Color name Information, Color Schemes, Light / Darkshades, Tones, Similar Colors , Preview the color and download Photoshop swatch and solid color background image

I know but the main color is a deep red
Brown
hex color for gray
https://icolorpalette.com/color/808080
Maybe we need others' opinions. You can just use it now.
Emm better than pink.
WHERE IN THE GAME FILES, CAN I CHECK THE CODING FOR THE LOCATiON OF A PARTiULAR SHOP?
@languid kayak alluted to it. And I have watched videos about this where the location is mentioned , and what is supposed to be on the location.
I think I replied you on the wiki? Either way, take a look at the debug mod or ask around in #mod_support; folks should be more up-to-date with that 😄
hah, I actually didn't know of this page existance, thanks!
I know that you meant some regular name instead of xxx, but aren't the only subpages of Navbox other than Navbox/Core the deprecated pre-41 navboxes? c.f https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Navbox ? Or should it be named Navbox businesses/Core or something like that? @digital helm; mind taking a look at spare time?
Also @swift warren https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox/Core/sandbox is safe to delete now, right? There are still some changes unmerged
Also seems that both https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox/sandbox and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Ikip/test2 can be safely removed now?
@languid kayak gave the toast a go live this time rather than preview, but it looks like it's just doubling up the lobster.
I've also gone ahead and made the toast page, broken or not, if only to get the damn thing out of my drafts. Plus I for the life of me cannot wrangle this custom table to go where it should, if anyone could help I would appreciate it. Sorry in advance for creating work for folks- I'm just starting to really get sick of toast but I don't want to leave the foods undone before pinging to something else.
Nothing important there. You can delete it safely.
I'm unsure if things have changed, but Navbox was deprecated and replaced by Navbox/Core. The idea was to eventually rename it to just Navbox.
Building the sub-heading/category functionality would be good! So any Navbox can use it.
I'll have to take a look at the templates mentioned above
That would be cool indeed 🙂 We should slowly phased out the old navboxes too; they are only used in the old non-English pages, but I didn't straight remove them to not lose the translations
oh yes facepalm! I forgot that was here?. thank you

Question in Mod section:
how do i check in game files, where items are located?
I have seen comments on youtube describing what is supposed to be in a location, but isnt.
We should start a mod support and documentation on how to do things on the wikipedia of project Zomboid.
https://pzwiki.net/
NEVERMIND
I propose that we create a mod subgroup, like
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Locations_and_Maps
Named:
PZwiki:modding
I already have instructions on how to find game photos, etc, and edit them.

I wrote 95% of this starting in 2006 approximately:
Mod:Dead Rising 2 Mods
https://deadrising.fandom.com/wiki/Mod:Dead_Rising_2_Mods
It was hosted on a private wiki, I gave everything to fandom, owned by wikipedia, and then shut down the site.
It was being mentioned back in the monthly summary; I do mention modding pages separately in the monthly summaries, but I (nor anyone) never went to actually make a project for modding
NEVERMiND
PZwiki:mod
thanks for response,
can we create a seperate PZwiki:mod (easier to remember and type, and easier for nonnatives to understand)?
I could do it but i am not an admin.
(see dead rising message above also @languid kayak)
Good night, 12:28 am in Moscow, Russia.
Wikipedia and FANDOM are separate entiities, though FANDOM (then WIkia) was created by one a guy who originally made Wikipedia
It'd be a project, same as all other projects such as https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Locations_and_Maps
There's something wrong with the Consumables template there
yup, I'm just not sure what- I used the template that somebody linked awhile back to make a custom table minus the uncooked options (basic format doesn't let you have something be cooked without raw, toast is a weird edge case) but for some reason it won't go where I want it to in the file. I've tinkered with it a bit, but it'll just dissolve entirely, or eat the other table in a weird table-nesting doll.
But I think I've looked at the table and the invisible toast/lobster situation enough that it's frustrating me, so I might just pivot to more articles so that my time is more productive, even if leaving it broken gives me hives.
I was going to futz around with bringing the food articles up to .78.16, but I realized that none of the Spiffo Plush gang have pages yet. I imagine a lot of folks would appreciate easy access to how to find them outside of rushing louisville/the local spiffos since their spawn rates can be so low, so that might be my next thing to knock out.
fun fact though, from looking at that briefly , it seems like prison cells are a viable spiffgang spawn point, which is interesting
also, sorry for all the back and forth on the toast thing- it's just one of those octopus issues where it links to enough other articles that it sort of falls apart when you run into a roadblock, I really appreciate the pointers yall have dropped
Yeah, I've given up as well 😄 Might come to it later but pinging @digital helm and @swift warren as you guys are more knowledgable than me on the matter 👀
Sorry I didn't get what you mean. What result do you want? And now what problems are you facing?
There's a couple problems, but the one Faal and I were discussing was this one in particular- https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Toast the custom made toast consumables table refuses to live anywhere but the very bottom of the article
There's also the problem of Toast not showing up here and just doubling up as lobster, keeping it out of both the toast page and the evolved recipies page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Crafting_cooking
Why do you need a custom made one instead of using it normally?
If you are not satisfied with the style of that template, it's better to improve the template directly.
Fixed. It should be {{...cooking|273|...}} in doc page. The template works well.
Are you talking about adding a namespace for the modding pages? It's something we have discussed but is much lower priority than some other tasks, like testing translation extensions
I think it was for a new project in the PZwiki namespace https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Community_projects
I think the modding pages fit very well into regular namespace though, no collisions are to be expected in the names and we already have different color of header to distringuish them. I don't think they'll be easier to find that way too and we'd have to set redirects for all the common names too
yeah, that what I was thinking mostly. Should be easy to set up, maybe I'll do that tomorrow or soon after? (ideally this month so I could use it for the next month summary and move some tasks from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks there)
I’m sorry- from the response I got here when I asked from ikip I thought that was what I was supposed to do to get a table that was properly formatted. I won’t do that again in the future. Thank you for your help fixing this, I’m sorry to have given you unnecessary extra work. I’m glad the template works and the issue was just another “staring at the ketchup bottle asking where the ketchup is”.
no worries; if it works it's the most important 😄
NEVERMIND
just create it please @restive adder let me build it. I can monitor it.
Mods is about already created mods; for modding there's https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Modding – it's linked in the main page as a part of one of the quick links even
The guide how to extract and stretch logos can be fit there, though it'd need to be cleaned up, you can also take a look at the resources already there 🙂
I also think creating and maintaining a page for TileZed and some other official modding tools could be useful, especially with the quicks how to make it run e.g., on Linux
how do i search for what I wrote on mod_support?
how can i search by user name, and only in ONE chat group.?
please help ggentlemen

I gave it some thought, you guys are right. i really dont like those subpages much anyway, more to type

I am confused, what did i ask you, or you ask me?
⁉️
QUESTION ON MOD SUPPORT
Link to question: #mod_support message
how do i check in game files, where items are located?
I have seen comments on youtube describing what is supposed to be in a location, but isnt.
Where do i find the cordinates of items in game files?
Which game file?
PLEASE USE THE @ikip to respond please help.
@tidal vine @narrow galleon @blazing hedge @tidal vine

Why'd you ping specific people
We were speaking earlier about making a custom table, I think you linked me to a sandbox page with a breakdown of how to do so. It was helpful, but not I think the solution that was needed, so no worries!
The Discord search function is quite advanced; you can search what you wrote in that section by from:anno1404 in:mod_support
You can't look for coordinates of items, these are all randomly generated each time a cell is first visited, or when rerolleed if the respawn is on in sandbox/multiplayer. The LootZed in debug mode is there to help visualizing the loot from the text files.
Also yeah, it's best to avoid pinging specific people and just ask for detailed questions on the #mod_support similar if you have technical ones, e.g. how to parse (or change) the appropriate files (especially the lua ones).
btw @naive imp I believe it was you who mentioned there are no gun drops in the ||secret military base||? There actually is room with guns, with 4 containers and one with ammo, plus two containers that can spawn regular pistol, though arguably that's not more than your regular gun shop 😛
Also, not sure if military guys can spawn with gun in hand, but they only spawn ammo and mags it seems
(and the crate)
Tell me how I looted the place in game to make sure and still managed to miss it lol
Well, for me two of the lockers containe just the clothing indeed, but two other has weapons
No like the whole room lol
(actually, one has ammo)
I looked over it on map project briefly and must've missed it there too wow
I'm fuckin blind lol
😄
Well, never been there outside the debug mode; died trying once. But I just checked now. I don't remember if the room was there back when it was first implemented, maybe not?
I also just realized that there's ||an elevator that can only go down since there's nothing above it, so I guess build 42 will give us much more insight about this place, and more loot||
Yeah I mentioned that in the article about it
That's crazy tho I think the room was always there
I just missed it TWICE somehow lol
Maybe I do need glasses
yeah, I just realized; almost the same thinking 😛
We have galore 🥸 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Glasses
and they even give boost for foraging 😛
BTW, last time I separated Portuguese from Brazilian Portuguese (and it turns out most of it's is Brazilian), but now I realized that's most of the Spanish should actually be es-ar based on one of the Teromax's last edit https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=User:Teromax34/Pastes&curid=32253&diff=165769&oldid=165767 🤔
I never paid attention, may turn out to be the same, where most if not all of the Spanish edits were actually the argentinian spanish and these two languages are separate in the game so the translations might differ
And there's quite some pages to move, if that's the case 😛 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Es
Although es-ar isn't supported by (at least our version of) MediaWiki it seems:
Seems it's not supported by MediaWiki at all anyway 🤷. Not sure what are the differences? Are these meaningful? How are the translations in-game different, guess I could compare the game files and contributors to see if I can spot it, though someone native to language would be nice to give some insight 😄
BTW, I also found a handy infographic about language fallback for MediaWiki, https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/26/MediaWiki_fallback_chains.svg - these are handy for translated messages; these will fall back to each other in case of things like sidebar or missing translations from MediaWiki upstream https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Localisation_statistics
Please see https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Special:MessageGroupStats&group=mediawiki for up to date translation statistics for MediaWiki.

Well, there are differences in item names for example, though not exactly due to differences in languages, more like mainteneance 😛
Seems the Argentinian one is more active, with only @sullen acorn listed at both 😛

https://github.com/TheIndieStone/ProjectZomboidTranslations/blob/master/ES/ItemName_ES.txt
@sullen acorn mind the ping, but mind explaining the difference? I guess there's a reason for both existing in-game? And as far as the wiki goes, is there a need for two separate languages (regular Spanish and Argentian one, which I believe reading is explained here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rioplatense_Spanish )

Rioplatense Spanish (), also known as Rioplatense Castilian, River Plate Spanish, or Argentine Spanish, is a variety of Spanish originating in and around the Río de la Plata Basin, and now spoken throughout most of Argentina and Uruguay. It is the most prominent dialect to employ voseo (the use of vos in place of the pronoun tú, along with spec...
This video expained me some differences too 😛 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5b7ZgZMAKrQ
Argentinian Spanish is quite similar to the other Latin American Spanish varieties, but it has five characteristics that make it unique. In this video, as a native Spanish teacher from Argentina, I´ll tell you about the main slang words, expressions, intonation and pronounciation features you need to know to recognize and understand Argentinian ...
The translation I do into Spanish is the one used officially in Spain. The Argentine version was derived from the Spanish one because they asked for my permission, which is why I'm credited.
Each Spanish-speaking country has variations in words. If a specific type of Spanish had to be made for each country in the world, there would be over 50 Spanish localizations, lol.
Usually, in all games and wikis, they use Spanish from Spain.
The Argentine translation is more active because it started recently, and they're making changes based on the Spanish one.
The Spanish translation I'm working on has been mostly complete for a while now (there are a few VHS and similar things left), which is why it appears to be inactive.
Yeah, usually the Chinese and Portuguese are separated often by region, so is the case with several other languages that are uncommonly found in games, but seems the only distinction is es-AR or es-UY by IEFT, as ISO just sticks it to Spanish 😛
So yeah, I assume that as far as wiki goes, keeping everything as ES would be sane? Especially if there are some differences in item names. Could make some redirects though, if needed 🤔.
First off the bat:
ItemName_Base.223Box = "Caja de balas .223",
ItemName_Base.223Box = "Caja de cartuchos .223",
or
ItemName_Base.9mmClip = "Cargador de 9mm",
ItemName_Base.9mmClip = "Cargador M9",
Both technically correct, though referring to the pistol name or the caliber or round vs. ammunition I believe 😄
I think it would be better to keep everything as ES, as ultimately, it's the translation that the majority of Spanish speakers use, and everyone understands the terms even if different ones are used in their countries.
I guess I'll worry when we'll have some names conflict for pages, if ever 😛
BTW @dusk yew your bet at Guacamole and Sawfly larva not being obtainable seems to be right, they are not found in loot or foraging definition, although they are present and can be spawned in debug mode/by an admin in multiplayer. I wonder how would be the best to indicate that – clear mention on the page for sure, if we ever get to listing proper distribution/loot tables on the wiki, that would be nice too, but e.g., in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tools I listed the items as '''Not implemented''' with [[Category:Future]] for these, though yet we have <span style="color:red">'''Removed!'''</span> for removed items 🤔. Then there's the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Unimplemented_items page but I don't like it too much as adding the items there pretty much requires extra maintenance and tables to maintain for no apparent reason (I also recently removed it from the items table, as per discussion with @digital helm)
Actually, having <span style="color:red">'''Removed!'''</span> and <span style="color:red">'''Future!'''</span> (or something like that) as templates that would automatically assign categories doesn't sound like a bad idea
Also, I may get onto it but seems that insects are listed in four separate places and only https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Insects_(disambiguation) mentions maggots!
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Food#Forage (but I'd separate them from here and move them to animals)EDIT: DONE- https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fishing#Bait (this is outdated, and also I noticed that apparently while all(?) insects can be used as baits, some are ineffective as such?)
Maybe I'll get into implementing it tomorrow, mainly for the item list – unless someone have a better idea or want to beat me to it, then I don't mind 😛
I know this isnt a priority when there are so many pages that arent translated into turkish, but, how do i redirect "Main Article" links to turkish links that we already have edited&translated. It gives an error when: {{Main|Fallas Lake/tr}}, shows a red "Fallas Gölü". I tried to understand it by going to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Main/tr, couldnt figure it, couldnt find any other latin alphabet language that figured it out either so i cant copy an idea from them aswell.
Seems to be some issue with {{Main}} template linking to whatever {{DISPLAYTITLE}} value is instead of the core value. I guess it's easy fix but might take me a while, already mentioned that to @digital helm but pinging @swift warren too in case you want to take a look 👀
Gotta add Toast to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Food#Evolved_recipe as it seems to be missing from the page done
It works well. I don't get what's wrong with you.
