Each map seed** is different, so for one the smugglers may be way over to East, someone else the South West or Way out West - it varies. If you follow your story line you will get to it real quick if stay on story. Otherwise just sail and open up the map 🙂

You can only place a bell on the coast. It can't be slapped in the middle of an island without mods.
You can teleport from a boat you're steering to a bell, but not in combat.
I assume you can't use a bell on the ground in combat, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Yeah, a red flashing attack or a grenade has to be dodged.
The timing is... the rough part. He usually manages to grab me.
Supposedly dodging to the left is better than the right, but he is very rough when you get to him the first time.
Then when you're lv 15 you come back and bully him for his lunch.

Well I was suspicious that they just weren't working in combat because I can never seem to actually hit the sails with chain shot. I wanted to make sure that they were still able to inflict that status effect even if they were boardable

Ah, so a hypothesis followed by testing, fun 😊. Only used chain shots in combat twice and they’re never worth it to me personally as it doesn’t last all that long compared to just sinking or getting low enough to board as they can still fire back until either of those conditions anyways.

the enemies have an amount of health and the cannons do an amount of damage, there are cannon combinatiosn thatare numerically higher than other combinations

If you're looking for Big Numbers Ascended Tempered on both decks have the bigest numbers. But if you're someone that doesn't like waiting 6 seconds despite having a firing solution when the cannons are reloaded, they might drive you nuts

Bottom line is simply that ship combat in Windrose isn't an turn-based JRPG. it's dynamic. What numbers are in a vaccuumm, might not always work out that way when the timbers hit the waves

from my initial understanding it would appear the perfectly ordered are the worse, only offering a faster reload, which devestating already offers.
It seems like devestating 24s and tempered 36s are the highest initial burst damage,

do the tempereds each have their own 6 second wait or do i have to wait 6 seconds no matter what?

can i double fire my tempered and get the 40% damage twice, then wait the additional 6 for my next volley?

if you get a ship either side of you on your initial assualt, you take out 2 ships with both broadsides, by the time you turn to line up on others, the cooldowns are up, you hardly ever end up waiting those 6's. unless your tracking a treasure ship, but i find it easier to turn for the forward/other guns, style of play i guess.

I like that you ask that, my shp is set up the opposite of that (26 Temprered, 36 Devastating) and here's how it works

Only the Tempered Cannons get the Tempred Buff - both when the ship is "initialized" and after 6 seconds.

Both the Devastating Cannons and Tempred can proc the Devastating Debuff.

Its why I usually open up with my Forward Cannons. Get Damage Buff and if both hit, 2 stacks of Devastating Debuff to the enemy 🙂

Ships are bound to players. Your friend can man the cannons but they can not steer ‘your’ ship, so they will have to craft their own one.

You can also drag boats out of storage at a wharf. You won't be able to summon them if they're not your flagship, but you can have every ship you've built out at once. All it does is make your FPS cry out in horror though.

whats a good build for damage on the Hands boss with my swords? im lvl 10 with 31 stats to spend and 9 skillpoint

its more about survivability IMO. Id suggest at least 1 point in the "You will answer for this" and "retribution" talents, to help you recover from damage, then it will depend on the kind of swords you are using. I personally like the rapiers, so i usually go for crit boosts and piercing damage boosts.

A huge part of defeating bosses is learning when to block and when to dodge. a good tactic is to practice against a boss over and over with no buffs until you can last most of the fight without dying, and can block or dodge most of the enemy attacks, then do it again with your buffs and suddenly it seems so much easier.

Since there is no real death penalty, you can run the boss as often as you want with no buffs to learn how to fight it.

its a global illumination graphics card setting. when GI is set to lower values, the default lighting in caves is surprisingly bright.

When its set to higher values, the caves darken up a lot to make the GI more realistic

I found the patch notes for 0.10.0.5 that mentioned some changes and I want to confirm I have the correct folders.

I have turned off steam cloud sync.

I have deleted the world from both rocks db and rocks db v2 but it still shows up in the list when I load solo worlds.

I have a windrose server I'm taking offline today and I want to get this world save loaded locally before I share with friends.

yea thats in the swamps at Tainted Ruins... you will get a few along the way when you're looting the ruins that you go underground using a rope... but once you get to the swamps you can farm it (every 6 hours) it respawns

if ive interpreted that correctly, as far as we can tell, basic trees do not respawn at all, divi-divi trees do respawn, but apparently gradually, and plague trees also respawn. I have heard that tarwood do not. I have not actually SEEN any trees respawn in my own play, but i have not really been looking close enough to tell for sure.

if it says there is, then unless you're suffering from a bug, then there is a tree. Some of them are significantly farther away than you expect though. They are also usually guarded by a stronger animal, so look around for a leveled up boar or something. (recently fought a level 13 boar on one of the last red scarf quests)

A few people come and say theres no red tree, but so far, it always seems to be they just didnt look far enough away. I do admit though it can take a bit of time to actually find it.

Now I've completed all I'm just doing building, I've been trying to make a stone tunnel using stone arches but even with snap off it's very hard, has anybody done this?

are you trying to place them side by side or something so you have a rounded roof all the way down?

if so, then do this. The beams are rotated 15degrees off in each direction to get your snap points, and then stone pillars are used. It will take a while but it snaps nicely.

as long as you dont completely destroy all the supports i think you can substitute out the pillars for other walls and stuff once your arches are placed.

just be careful when destroying stuff and it should work fine.

Is there a Long Roof Ridge (Reed)? I can't find any answers online and the only one I've found in game is half the width of a foundation piece (the roof pieces are exactly a full foundation width), which makes for awkward adjustments during building... Also, what about for tile, etc? Reed is my first roof I've unlocked since leaves.

i make the base bigger and then the huge half tile ridge doesnt look so huge anymore.

And also - in case you aren't already, build beam edging along the roofline and it makes it look way better IMO.

Also also - if you really don't want the half tile overhang and really want more than none, you can get a smaller snapping point using the trick i showed for the arched tunnel a bit back in chat and just have the half roof stick out by about a quarter distance instead of half.

agree with that, ive gotten about 2-300 guinea since i got to the swamps and it hasn't taken long at all, just a lot of runs back to temples and such for loot, and killing all the mobs that chase after me while i run through places for the collectible respawning urns or harvestable plants.

Has really made me wish that Buyer NPCs had a "sell all " button that sold every single item in their list of items they will buy

does strength ever get good? seems like with no good gun and the fact that greatswords are agility strength ends up not having anything going for it

no its tied to your character, it will already all be done on a new world

You'll just have to make a new char, you can also get your main char to craft all gear and weapons and level them to 15 to give to your new char if thats your jam haha

the level itself doesn't tie into how much damage you do and take its your gear and weapon levels

obviously will be missing talents and points but the rest will be same as if you were 15 especially if you also use the +20 foods

nah, more to think to start like new game+ with alot of added challenge at some point + to have all building recipes unlocked from the get go

I don't know if that will ever be a thing but currently its all tied to character the progress, if you join a server and have done all quests its also already all done etc

My main is using plague halberd str build but I have tested GS build too, plague halberd works better with how I currently have set it up because of the aoe damage and how often it can be cast, and less health pots used because of the heal. I want to make the stalwart build work too though, because GS look so cool, and it does better damage then the soul stealer thingy GS, which has a too long cooldown heal. still working on perfecting the GS build - STR offers to make the plague halberd work which imo is the goat build for boarding and also for running ancient temple and spice respawning POIs in swamps

I’ve only ran two handed weapon halberd builds. I used the rapier of devastation for 1 day. All the builds are similar just depends on how you want to play the game. I prefer dodging and being a glass cannon. You can always use the drakes double barreled pistol to enhance your greatsword

I am having one (sorta) issue. My desktop has two monitors and I like to play games with the one on my left side but for some reason, even after I change the settings, every time I exit the game the settings keep changing back. Any suggestions on how I can get it to stay as pictured?

one thing you may want to know, if you are in a ship battle where you have allies, if you disable all the ships then start boarding, your allies will continue to sink the disabled ships while you board the first vessel.

I lost 3 treasure ships during a fight because of this. So my advice is as soon as you disable a ship, board it if you can, if you are in a battle with npc allies present

ive heard yes, but there are tricks to it. Apparently the bonfires have to be at different vertical heights, and the shared chests all have to be in the area where the bonfire circles overlap. its not a true sharing really, just a glitch, and i expect unless they add a non-modded way to combine bonfires into a larger area, they wont truly share everything.

Note - this is just something i read here, where there was an example. I have not tested it myself.

ill be honest, right now i DO use all precision based weapons, and i still almost never use my pistol for more than pulling mobs in lower numbers at once, or just applying a debuff before the whole combat is just sword sword sword. If you're having fun with a crude or agility base weapon, i say go for it, and just use the gun for outlying uses like that.

Howdy peoples is there a reason you cant upgrade from 12 pounders to 24 beacusae of the ship or my level?

24 can only be used on blackbeard ketch, blackbeard brigg and all frigates

all other ketch and brigg will only take 12 pounders, bb frigate 24 & 36, and all other frigates 12 and 24

if you get blackbeard version of first ship you can use 24 pounders, it has less hp that one though
