you can use your cloak to help healer with the soak-frontal and in the first phase you can use cloak to just stand in the first and third aoe to bait some flames on your position so that the other players get less impacts on their travel path.

Hey guys, kinda new to rogue and wanna start maining in in tww season 3 and onward. Having fun on Outlaw and Assasination equally but I know they are very different specs to gear. If you guys had to ADVISE me on which one to play and focus on which one would you suggest. Again I have fun equally on both for different reasons and mainly mythic raid. Basically I wanna know which one you think would be the best for me to play going forward so I can consistently be doing good dps so long as I learn the specs front to back.

I would suggest leaning towards assassination, which is typically more useful in mythic raid due to having burst damage and being less punished by downtime. You also have the option of trying subtlety if you want, whereas if you gear outlaw first (I.e, crafting a sword), you won’t be able to use that for either assassination or subtlety.

not sure of the exact answer you are looking for but simc is a program itself https://github.com/simulationcraft/simc that has a lot of documentation in its wiki tab.

raidbots is a wrapper that runs simc with its servers instead of your cpu.

there are essentially 3 parts to specs in simc:

1. the implementations of spells/talents and their interactions in C++, known as the class modules here https://github.com/simulationcraft/simc/tree/thewarwithin/engine/class_modules

2. spell data, which is a lot of spell info parsed from the wow client. there is a lot to understanding spell data, but essentially, things like a spec tuned to deal 10% more damage is applied automatically when the data hits the servers as opposed to having to code it manually https://github.com/simulationcraft/simc/tree/thewarwithin/SpellDataDump

however, some effects and interactions appear to be scripted server-side instead of through the client, which means they need to be tested and manually implemented in C++.

the grand melee change in april is an example of this, we could tell it became scripted because no spell data matched a 1.2x bonus. today we learn why it is scripted as the formula is perhaps not what we thought it was at all.

3. the action priority list (APL), which where you supply the rotation that simc executes for your spec. it has its own syntax, and also kind of a lot goes into understanding it https://github.com/simulationcraft/simc/tree/thewarwithin/ActionPriorityLists/default

so like on ptr TC'ers are usually working with a custom APL that they have to constantly iterate on and test rotation changes, and then the APL is committed into simc as needed

The reason I was able to sim the before and after changes yesterday through raidbots is because the tuning is handed by ptr spell data, and raidbots updates a nightly vs latest build. the nightly mode did not have the changes yet so it could be compared to latest

I’m debating between playing Outlaw or Assassination – I’ve been pushing +17 with both, but I’d like to pick the most optimal spec for this context.

Do you think +10 key speedruns favor Outlaw’s burst + mobility,

you are overthinking this, you need just 2 extra conditions for SC. One for supercharged filled combo points, and one for supercharged empty combo points. I have mine set up to show empty supercharged points with a border, and filled ones with a different bar colour

which means you need 3 conditions total: 1 for filled non-SC combo points, 1 for empty SC, 1 for filled SC

@scenic flame all servers are the same now, you opt into warmode or don`t. You can join them as much as you like, only restriction being queueing timewalk/heroics cross faction until they change that too

i think outlaw is technically the fastest with 4x grapples, but if you actually want to kill trash sub is way better

because blade flurry wont work if your initial hit kills the target

and subs speed shroud resets on every boss kill so its not really noticably slower for me

Question for peeps who did some PTR testing, I'm probably going Mythic for the first time in a long time and since I play all 3 specs decently I was wondering how we're standing from a raiding PoV on all 3 on current tuning assuming there won't be big changes by now ? That'd be super helpful cause I got the go for a trial but not sure what to go with that would be best for now. It's likely a toss-up between sub and sin (maybe more sin) but I'd love to hear some of your thoughts

I'd say go Sin, all 3 specs are a bit lower than the average bear right now, but Sin might look better on a dps meter for fights where you have to move or have downtime, get those bleed ticks while everyone else is waiting or dodging

Any spreadsheet, performance from testing or tier lists are all subject to information that may already be outdated, or can be outdated by the time of launch of the patch. If you use these to base any form of decisionmaking other than real data once the patch hits, you are better off finding a website and spin a wheel.

You will always play atleast one rogue. The raidbuff that rogue brings depending on fight is like up to ~25% if converted to hps of a real healer.

Also if your doing mythic for the first time play the spec you feel most comfortable. No matter what tuning. If let's say you play outlaw at 100% and sub at best 80% of maximum potential you always will play outlaw. Etc

there's a bit more to it than that, to an extent
you aren't as hurt by short downtime because you get to cap on energy and can, more or less, dump it when you get to the boss again
so if your downtime is only short enough for you to lose like 8 seconds of uptime, you don't exactly lose as much DPS because you're still going to spend the same resources (just in 4 seconds rather than 12), with the real loss being autos+poison procs+envenom uptime for the most part

unlike, say, an Arms war who really is just getting their miniscule bleed damage but no rage or SD procs or CDR
