Makes sense. I just am only doing 12-13 keys right now and I haven't needed to rupture more but maybe it's better to do at higher levels where you can get more value out of it before everything dies. What level keys are u at now where u feel the extra gcds on more ruptures is beneficial? I want to balance dots and getting to the burst before it's all dead

personally speaking I don't spread ruptures if the pack is gathered unless the prio mobs ruptures are in pandemic, in weeklies you can vanish to reapply gar as soon as it falls off but waiting for rupture to get into pandemic is bigger. a lot of this will depend on your co-dps, I don't play with an arcane mage. I want to be clear, I am not advocating giving up globals to rupture once the mobs are stacked unless it would fall off key targets, it's meaningless to rupture the little guys that die anyway to ct / spatter and co-dps.

Running out of energy in single target is completely normal, intended design of Assassination. As a burst spec our damage is mainly loaded into Deathmark/Shiv and massive Envenoms through stacking multiple nature damage buffs such as Lingering Darkness, Shiv, Darkest Night, Amplifying Poison, and more. This comes with the natural downside of our damage suffering outside of these windows, in part due to the designed lack of energy slowing us down.

Because of this, there is only one minor (0.3%) min-max with energy, which is pooling 3-4 seconds into an upcoming Kingsbane. Ideally this would put you at around 50-60% energy before you enter your Kingsbane, which is more than enough energy alongside thistle tea. Outside of that, spam Envenom and just accept that you will run out of energy. There is nothing you can do to not run out of energy. Playing around Envenom uptime also is not relevant anymore, as Twist the knife allows for two stacks at a time, which reduces wasted uptime dramatically. Without twist the knife, wasting uptime is unavoidable.

  Fan of Knives with Clear the Witnesses Up:
• Baseline 2+ targets, -1 if lingering darkness is up or you aren't talented into vicious venoms. With Vicious Venoms casting during lingering darkness is dps neutral.
  Fan of Knives with Darkest Night Up:
• Only on 2+ targets, or without Vicious Venoms talented. This is also a very very minor optimization

The most important to remember is the generator rules, clear the witnesses and darkest night optimizations can be effectively ignored as they are not meaningful DPS improvements

Vanish->Ambush during cooldowns with Darkest Night up has two main benefits:

• Getting more mark uptime by reapplying when it's down
• Consuming Darkest Night then puts you from 3 stacks of the mark down to 2 since the mark is already applied

As of September 13th with the Echoing Reprimand Fix, that second part is broken. Blizzard inadvertantly added a bug where you cannot consume mark stacks while darkest night is active. This will hopefully get resolved quickly as it is quite impactful. Until that time, you might want to consider taking improved garrote in your single target build (instead of 1 point of vicious venoms, or instead of improved poison). You do not have to do this, and if you would like to continue to play without improved garrote, you would simply hold onto your vanish in case you drop the mark. Once the bug is fixed you would go back to vanish->ambush.

opener - dm kb with pot vanish
45s - normal kb
1m30s - dm with prism
2m15s - kingsbane with vanish
3m0s - dm without prism and vanish (not in execute)
3m45s - normal kb
4m30s - dm with full prism and vanish

so i could move prism and vanish into execute

but every time i tried it i did zdps and we killed it twice with me doing way better just slamming everything on cd

is this variance or is this just a really stupid idea
