I think I found a case with simc, not sure where or how to report it but basically when simmed stilleto doesn't count as an embellishment, meaning that it is simming 1.2%-1.3% more than my unembellished 636 craft. This might be due to me wearing a 610 PvP crafted writhing armor banding, but I couldn't figure out why.
TLDR: I have 610 cape with writhing, 2x636 daggers with main hand ascendance. Sim says siphoning stilleto is 1.3%~ better on my main hand provided I equip the ascendance dagger on my OH and keep the 610 cape with writhing which is impossible in game.

It’s a bug with droptimizer, would be something for raidbots discord, but I think it’s known
they hotfixed out the max level/max ilevel on bubblng wax, so it may work again

i found out something interessting too
i equipped both daggers at the same time
and depending on which one you equipped first it would default to the specific damage value
so e.g.
if i equip both and the 584 first all procs will do 81k
if i equip the 619 first all procs will do 90k
(item slot does not matter)
Did a world tour and the average for me was ca 120k with 636 dagger
Even though it "triggers" from poison applications, it still only actually does the initial damage to your auto-attack target, right?
(sim-dpw-wise, it doesn't really matter with how the proc rates work, but it was just an observation I had that it felt like outlaw could spam PS at range and, like, bank (?) wax triggers once you got back into melee, but that was kinda feels-y)

How does the sim treat Harvester's Edict? Since you can either eat the orb yourself for mastery or let it hit the mob(s) and do damage to whatever it hits?
the option thewarwithin.harvesters_edict_intercept_chance is used to determine the chance of intercepting the orb, the default is 0.2 it seems

Iron wire does not increase your dps, so yes taking any other talent would increase your sim dps

Yeah, lens works by proccing damage based on whatever gem is equipped, blasphemies don’t count as a color and therefore don’t proc it

is anyone already thinking about the assa 11.0.5 APL?
the sims in the pins of #assassination have an 11.0.5 apl already, not much changes and there's a lack of support for TTK async stacks in the APL currently which makes it tricky to optimize around. It will be on going, if you have any finds or ideas, #1065730164077645916 would be the place to post those
in the sin apl, it can happen where theres a sequence of dm->kb->vanish->shiv instead of holding shiv for the last 8s of kb (this is even without lightweight shiv) - is this behaving as expected?
again, like above, this would be better in #1065730164077645916, but yes. Technically shiv on the last 8 of kingsbane is very similar and typically better, but in some edge cases like here from stealth it does use shiv which is better due to the combo points from shrouded suffocation being very efficient and leading to extra envenoms. It's a micro-optimization that only shows up in some iterations and not all the time

items see to be on par with heroic items of the raid at best,so if you need heroic gear still can do it.
But be warned, its tuned quite brutally. Further discussions around gear would be better done in the spec channel.

Who would I need to talk to about the simc profile not seeming to recommend Scent of Blood up to max stacks at 5+ target counts? I seems to only want to put the 3 out from Indescriminate Carnage, and even if other targets are alive, doesnt seem to prioritize putting them out.

Yeah, you're going to say that now, but it takes 3 energy, and reduces your damage from other abilities
But, here's the thing, it only does damage when you have an energy overcap, on the burst

In my opinion, there is an error in the sim. One that doesn't duplicate this talent during the death marker
And naturally, the selection of Sanguine Blades is much better
that is not all of the damage it does, I think you are probably confused because it shows up under every bleed (including deathmark ones) instead of at one place
it appears in 4 different places, not just those 2
under rupture, garrote, deathmark->rupture, deathmark->garrote
We pull the numbers straight from the game, so anything like that wouldn't really be possible anyways unless it was a result of a bug.
But yeah, the energy loss is just a massive part of it which doesn't really reflect in the logs whatsoever.

pmultiplier is power multiplier, it's a check for things like improved garrote
for rupture lines it was used for nightstalker during dragonflight and was kept in for the case of an effect coming back
so pmultiplier<=1 is essentially just a check for "not empowered"

testing APL's is done in advanced in raidbots, you just add your original profile, with full APL ideally, then make copies and edit the block you're interested in. So in general it'll be:
copy="name"
the APL block you're editing (actions.stealthed for example), with your change```and you just sim that. Can also have multiple copies, but keep in mind copies inherit from the profile above them, so a chain of copies can get really messy if you don't start from a fresh APL block before making edits

Blizzard made the decision to increase the item level of the ring from 619 - 639 to now 639 - 658.
I restarted/updated the simulations above, if you want to sim your character can use this updated file.
Just copy/paste it below your /simc in advanced simulation.
Note: Simulations need to be done on > Raidbots - Mimiron < before the patch goes live.

You’d have to initialize the list or else it’ll tack the new action to the end of the existing list

in advanced it's common practice to copy the whole thing and then tweak each block in the copies

How strong something is in a future patch is also hard to predict, making predictions incredibly inconsistent and highly speculative.

- blackpowder condition seems incorrect as it casts evis at the end of dance when more than 7 targets for SnD considering coup might not generate SnD in this implementation
apl has not been pushed totally at least for sub some things are not in yet

the official simulationcraft addon is the best option, you can simulate now online on Raidbots. It is as simple as typing /simc in the game and pasting the string to the website. This channel is also for the more technical details so it's prefered if you ask beginner questions in the spec or general chat channels.

heya, not sure if this is the right place to ask but... have you guys simmed sending a storm/backstab regardless to stack danse macabre during a first dance SD, just wondering if the increased dance duration would make it worth
Backstab in dance is not worth it anymore(we assumed), storm is only worth it on higher target counts and only once. If you have more specific things to test can make a more detailed post in #1065728795455266888 and either eleem, armin or i will likely be able to throw together a quick simulation to evaluate.
I dont understand this... If you're not using backstab, and youre not using shuriken storm... what are you supposed to use?
shadowstrike, if we talk about shadow dance like above. There is a trade off to not using shadowstrike especially on Trickster. We also looked a bit into the topic of backstab in shadow dance, and you can read it up in the thread but using backstab during shadow dance once (with premeditation) is a slight damage gain again, offering a way to optimize your dps slightly more when trying to min/max.

It looks like there's a slight optimization for Junkmaestro's Mega Magnet with Deathstalker. Since it's plague damage, it benefits from Lingering Darkness on both specs. Probably not too relevant for Sub considering how much Trickster is ahead.
Not sure if there's a better way to implement, but I added:

This def has nothing to do with whether I have pacemaker or not (as I didnt have it for the sim where I tried it first). Tried it with a bunch of different passive trinkets and its always holding signet for the first 22s and then sending it on cd.

The current one does pretty much the same thing. Just for some reason the signet trinket isnt considered a stat on-use.

seems to work with priory with just that replacement, so something probably up with not classifying it as the stat on use like you say. It could be due to the dynamic nature of the stat considering it could be any stat, depends when it checks the highest secondary maybe...

Does anyone know why Eye of Kazan is on our BiS list even though House of cards/Thug line sim higher together? Is it a sim bait or does eye of kazan actually not out perfom the other trinket combo,
eye of kazan is stronger on longer fights, so for raiding its typically the best passive trinket option.
How come its lower on bloodmallet? Purely asking cause i believe the same, but got an officer in the guild arguing its not BiS
And is there any sims that show eye being ahead? I would guess it would sim higher if i just sim patchwork in an 7-8 min fight instead of 5 min
Yeah, 5 min is the standard and it doesn’t look great on that
Also hotline is the opposite, its way better the shorter the fight is because of its interaction with BL

Sudden demise damage is difficult to sim with how mobs are set up in most simulation types, and because of how varied its effect can be in an actual group. Because of that sims do not account for the actual execute damage and only simulate the talent based on the bonus bleed damage

One way to test changes is through raidbots advanced sim, by pasting a profile with the default APL, then using copy=... to make a new profile and paste a new APL

there's no segmenting I assume for aoe/st - wtvr type of change you want, you just take the entire default, change the specific pieces relevant to what you wanna test (prio dmg, aoe, st etc etc) and then run the appropriate sim
in a comparison to the default, you can change a particular sublist instead of re-pasting the entire thing

Is there any "bug" related to Lock'n'stock trinket or overperformance in sims of Vexie and Mugzee trinket?
If I sim, raidbot tell me to use those 2 trinket but in reality (tryed on M Rik) Lock'n'stock (in ST mode) deal more dmg then the other 2 combined.

with locknstalk you have like 22% haste which is perhaps overkill for this build
but i think if you can make the haste work with your gear then it shouldnt be too different than mugzee trinket

it's a variable that can be toggled on which changes the APL logic to prioritize doing single target damage in aoe
it's not really used on assassination anymore

100 * 0.6 * 0,9 * 0,95 = 51,3% damage reduction

it's more like if a spell does 100 damage, it is reduced multiplicatively to 51.3 damage, which is 48.7% dmg reduction

I was trying to use what you just posted to do a sim and I keep getting this error, im definitely choosing daggers for a Sin spec sim, not sure what is happening

basically i just pasted my basic character info/talents, then added all of what was in those txt docs, picked all my items/enchants until it greened up and let me hit sim, and then it keeps getting hooked on this 'doesnt have the right weapon' thing

Yes this uses the processor logic in the module I have adjusted to make some things make more sense (like the nonsense apply poison entries) as well as inject super basic cooldowns
one_button_mode applies the GCD penalty, but you can use the other one to see how well it would do in theory without a penalty

In AoE when we can gurrantue max CP with one Shurikenstorm. Could we not also Shuriken storm in between Coups to preserve the Unseen Blade Stacks or am I missing something?

Seems doable with enough targets or shadow techniques stacks to guarantee 6+ combo points (sims neutral)
I had a related question about vanish usage the other day:
on single target ^
the downside is that vanish is usable to gain access to a shadowstrike outside of dance, upside is protecting an unseen blade proc and progressing toward the next coup (and also gaining premed inside a dance is like 7 Shadow Techniques stacks effectively, more finishers inside the dance?)

typically when referred to as neutral it means its within the margin for error in sims
so that would be less than 0.5%
closer to 0.1/0.2% or less
Just spent an hour and a half on this, learned how to edit APL
...it's within margin of error (-0.04% loss to vanish for storm between coups, compared to standard logic)
but I feel better now

I think there’s a bug with Screams of The Forgotten Sky. On Dinensius, if you use Blade Flurry on CD, even when there’s no adds., you accumulate debuff stacks faster. Like I am exiting phase 1 with 2 to 3 times as much.
it should just be an rppm proc from spells, seems unlikely that it would be both not rppm and that blade flurry in particular would be different than your other melee spells

Well im just curious (for sub) it doesnt have the same problems as forge, does 1.5mil damage and around 18.7k crit over forges 23k? normalized agi? Over 15 seconds

if you replace forge logic with csi in the prism call in apl it simmed at a loss for my character
didn't override all buffs but I doubt that would move the needle enough
Yeah the condition for cursed stone idol was being used instead of prism as its checking for it earlier (ie before blades rahter than together with blades). Ill push an update soonish but its still not near the top combinations of trinkets
reason i ask is the same logic behind forge is behind idol, except a large amount of this is crit and crit is worth more than agi, as well as 1.5mil damage

If my understanding of the APL is correct, after using araz in opener and going through until the end of Shadow Blades, when again simc scanning from top to bottom, the condition on the line use_item,name=unyielding_netherprism is not met, so it will then try to execute the following use_items,slots=trinket1 which will pass the criteria.
Unless that line automatically checks whether you already have an explicit usage defined for Prism in your APL?

Holding some sht stacks for dance is something that the sim likes doing one day and then the next day its negative again, but yeah it seems to be positive for now.
The shadow dance changes are indeed a gain on pure ST with the haste value that the default profile has, but there are some of them where its negative and its also negative in practically every other scenario than pure ST trickster, so not entirely sure what to do with it.
The rest of the line changes seem completely irrelevant as they are just insanely rare, like the shiv line is being used 0.13 times per pull, the storm line is functionality identical to the pre-existing storm line and the BP line is also exceedingly rare, to the point where it really makes no sense to include these
The pre-existing storm line works requiring prev.shadow_dance not after SecTech, that's totally different.
Shiv line does not have a major applicance due to the fact it only works for Shadow blades and the current Coup line does not try to align with shadow blades.
Whats the purpose of having it only be during blades
It is very difficult to focus a coup control line in sim due to the random timeline in its own nature and yet for a stronger boost in real world raid scenarioes, especially with damage boost debuffs/buffs, that could guarantee a double Coupe in a blade window for practical requirement of damage check.
This means a further coup holding before shadow blades and use the shiv to save an instance of UB
The coup line can be further elaborated for a longer holding before a blade/dance with one instance of replacement of BP rather launch it earlier before major cd, which provides gain depending on gear haste selection.
Right now the challenge is for Bloodlust effects on SecTech that greatly changes the cd of SecTech which desynchronises the alignment of many cds, which in general does not provide a problem due to we have 2 charges of dance to wait for SecTech, and yet it causes misalignment when more CDs are considered.
This is also the reason for the Shadow dance condition tighten or relax, if SecTech gets too early before next dance or a bit late for that. If we cast one more dance before the blade and this would significantly reduce our burst quality.
In practice, we'd like to see a "VERY" early SecTech before next blade so we wont have it wating too much before that blade. However, we wont want a SecTech "JUST" before next blade so we cast a dance too close to next blade so we have to cast a blade with only one or one plus a very late dance.
For a held Coup so we can have 2 or even three Coup in next blade, three would be a bit of dreaming even with lust tho.
So after all this, I think we'll re-consider our haste threshold for a more smooth sim and practical gameplay.
It could be more experimental if we check with best scenario or most optimised situation, with minimal SecTech cd loss, to see a haste if achieveable or so, then we'd see if we'll have two different SIM logic based on players' gear selection.
and this is also not just holding sht for dance.
I also changed the backstab logic:

In current logic, there are situation we actually wait for energy to launch shadowdance, or waiting for cp.

It is not about sht we hold for the dance, but a more "fitting" sim style condition so we dont keep backstabbing while need cp or energy.
and this 4sec idle not mean we're totally idle, but not casting finishers, and mange energy for dance.

This wont be a significant gain due to the fact we need to backstab multiple times before the dance. However, we might try to extract every bit out of it.
Checking for CB is just nonsense
and this could be further exploited after a dance while quite far before a dance, if we believe multiple casts of backstabs are enough for next dance, if we have high Sht, we can still use Storm for a small gain in crit.
You can believe that's nonsense, but that's not a good spirit for me to consider if we're trying to sim the most out of it as we're selecting the talent for a good reason if not just passing down the tree.
Current default sim does not use this 100% crit of Storm to obtain CB in the whole ST sim, which I consider a loss.

The reason why it would be nonsense is not that i hate every single new idea that could be a gain, but because we never end up casting two builders in a row during dance with how current sub plays, so something that checks for cold blood is just never gonna be relevant as you would end up finishing anyway. And outside of dance youre gonna end up with CB most of the time anyway as the crit chance of backstab is so high, while the damage of those finishers are also more negligible than inside dance ones. So its just not gonna be something thats relevant to look at for conditions within the APL.
Silent storm itself isnt even outside of margin in AoE as trickster, because youre upping the average crit chance from like 75% to 80%, on a spell thats doing like 2% of your damage

I think I found the issue(?) the Crucible callback is only registered for spell/ranged/periodic proc types
(0x00015500), so it never fires for melee actions at all. The SX_ONLY_PROC_FROM_CLASS_ABILITIES check in trigger() is
never even reached for melee specs because the dispatch filter blocks them first
I made a small workaround of this issue locally and compiled/tested simc and was able to succesfully see voidlust procs on rogue abilities (not auto attacks). I submitted a PR to simc for the WAR

The procs are seemingly attributed to those abilities because the aura gain for Voidlust appears to have either identical (in the case of Backstab and SecTect second clone hit), or very close timestamp to their damage (Shadowstrike). There might be more abilities that proc it, but from my limited testing it was only those 3 (and in the case of SecTec only the second clone hit).Can the proc be from a buff gain, debuff application, or healing event?
From the looks of it, not anything visible in the logs. There are big gaps between such events and procs.The only debuff applied was Fazed and you can find procs seconds after Fazed being applied

There’s still background spells that could be applicable here. Healing is also very iffy historically. Even healing values of 0 can proc healing things even if they don’t show in the logs.
Without seeing the entire build being used it’s hard to say
sec I will remove all healing talents and leech
Slice and Dice has historically triggered healing procs constantly even without Recuperator for example
Because the base aura has a 0 value periodic heal every 3 seconds which is increased by the talent to a real value.
But 0 value heals can still trigger healing procs
Recuperator is not required in order to benefit from that
there are procs with no snd up in the log
Same for Shadow Dance and Stealth heals

if we're talking about scuffed workarounds, you could just do some math and add a flat crit buff to your character. like for example having 200 crit 80% of the time, is the same as having 160 crit 100% of the time. 200 x 0.80 = 160. just a time weighted average

Dungeon slice is a good mixed fight style, you can use it for gear evaluation for mythic+ or bosses with a lot of adds

Potentially silly question on reading a simc report. Do the Stack Uptimes here define the number of stacks of the buff that was used in the sim? I noticed the buff for Vessel of Tortured Souls is seemingly going up to 10 in the sim, but in practice (and what I've seen in others logs), the orbs don't spawn frequently enough to ever go above 5 stacks. Curious if I'm just misinterpreting the report, or if something is off with how the orb spawn is simulated. Thanks for any help!

you can use /tm 0 for this, if you want a diffrent marker replace the 0 with a diffrent number between 1 and 8.

any way to force a sim to a specific amount of haste? like the best armor combination with haste between 675 and 725 e.g.
you can adjust the hast on gear in your profile via gear_haste_rating=XXX (replace XXX with the amount you want)
but this is nothing you should do if you want to compare gear pieces as it falsifies the result
you can alternatively apply a enchat to e.g. a shirt, or switch the weapon oil away to one which does not give haste.
there is not an intuitive way to constrain top gear to x amount of haste

Definitely not going to add stat constraints to Top Gear since that's almost certainly a bigger problem than a solution
There are multiple breakpoints.
The most common one is 700 with guidon (first boss voidspire)
without the trinket, it becomes roughly 800
and a diffrent (currently not played) hero talent goes up to the next point around 1100
Are sims not handling the breakpoints correctly?
the sims handle them corretcly, but the timing is very tight
so human error, server tick rate and lag make it more valuable to have a slightly higher value
it is a design issue with the redesign in Midnight, we now have 2 spells affected by haste and both interact with it differently.
One extends duration in very small increments, which can lead to the problem of reliability.

the suggestion currently is to try to reach the breakpoints with flask/oils applied
a workaround people do is to change default weapon oils, to lower the total haste amount

for raid, you typically use patchwerk simulations.

the damage on a sim will be higher than on e.g. a dummy, because of raid buffs, potions/etc
