Hello @everyone!

We've been hard at work with some updates and preparation going forward into Dragonflight, and I hope you are all as excited as we are! I just wanted to highlight the improvements we’ve been working on in Ravenholdt and give some visibility to our already-implemented changes.

Podcast News!
The beloved Tricks of the Trade podcast is leveling up, and we're looking to crank out more episodes for you all! Not only are we looking into a more regular schedule, we're also dedicated to making them more frequent! Alongside this, we now have a new opt-in role to receive notifications about podcast announcements. Simply head over to #welcome and react to the message the same way you would for a specialization role!

Website Revamp!
@wanton rain has been hard at work redesigning the website for us all, and I'm pleased to announce that https://www.ravenholdt.net/ has received a new coat of paint! Not only will we be uploading the links to all of our podcasts here, but we're also going to try and spin up our editorial articles as well.

Misc Improvements

  • With our focus on providing the most up to date and accurate information available, our theorycrafting channels have moved up for ease of access to our most cutting edge number-crunching.
  • Additionally, #tc-updates is now an announcement channel and we are looking at posting more actively here, allowing you to follow the channel in your own servers and still receive the highest quality optimizations the community has to offer, without needing to check in!
  • As we ramp up our Website and Podcast content, we are also looking into revamping our other social media presences, such as our twitter: https://twitter.com/ravenholdt (We might be on the hunt for someone to help manage this side of things, please DM me if you're interested).

With the upcoming release of pre-patch content, the channels we made for beta discussions are losing their value. As such we will be locking them for submissions of new posts on the 3rd of November. At this date we will move the main discussions back to the spec-channels. The beta channels will remain present for historic review and documentation up until the 28th of November when they will be removed entirely from the public.

While there might be some discontent due to changes to one's favorite spec, this does not mean we will accept or tolerate abuse aimed towards developers and we will continue cracking down on this.

As always, if you find content that violates our community’s guidelines and rules, or the terms of service of Blizzard, please report it to a Shadowblade as soon as you can.

We have seen a recent influx of good discussion and activity in these channels and hope this will continue throughout the vast new content we are receiving.

Public Service Announcements:

  • The previous beta discussion channels that were locked, are now being phased out from public eye and will be reintroduced further down the line when new content patches are announced.

  • All specs have had their FAQs updated to give the most accurate information we have at the moment. Give them a look and give some creds to our wonderful Community Figures for not only updating, but the team in the backend handling all the maths and APL-logic.

  • Wowhead has released a ton of good profession guides recently, I would advise towards checking them out if there are any last minute questions you have.

  • There is no need to rush, none of the weekly content is available until after the first weekly reset, meaning you will not have to rush to complete mythic0s for a head start.

Moderation of Ravenholdt will be understandably more absent now that we have a new expansion to enjoy. Yes, we have lives outside being janitors. Do not take this as a chance to be a rebel and a shitstirrer, our handling of rulebreaking and general problems is going to be rougher around the edges than before.

After 18 years we've finally arrived at the Dragon Isles. It's probably a bit overdue, but with the launch of the newest expansion we're happy to announce that we're adding a new Community Figure to the staff. Please join me in welcoming @halcyon thicket as a Community Figure. Zac has been heavily involved with our pirate brethren for a while now and has played a vital role in helping optimize the APL for Dragonflight. He also has a pretty cool WA pack out there for everyone to use (hint: type !wa in the spec channels or check the FAQs for some links).

Some recent news just straight of the press that we have to present to you! First up we have revampled our #rules-and-guides channel. This is not only to make it easier to understand our list of rules and what we expect from our users, but it also added some clarity to convoluted rules that we have been enforcing in the past. There has been no added rules from our previous ruleset, but please make sure to read through them all regardless to ensure that you understand what we will be enforcing going forward.

Another piece of news that I am sure will be received very well.. We edited our settings for the #wowheadnews Channel. Considering this is primarily a Live World of Warcraft Discord, we found the amount of news of other games more as noise than what has been previously. Our changes makes sure the only updates reaching the channel is the news we primarily care about.

For those of that have pickpocketed a little extra throughout Dragonflight, there is less than 24 hours left for the global launch of the War Within Early Access. Resources that we have available are underway to take into account the latest changes to all rogue specs. Do note that the last bit of tuning is still quite a bit away, so please be aware that everything is still subject to change, even weeks after the content has become available to players.

Please give a pat on the back to all Community Figures and other staff that are tirelessly working to make these resources as accurate as they can for you.

Participating in the Early Access release does not give any perks to player power, so please do not feel like you are missing out on anything valuable, and make sure to enjoy the release at your own pace.

To help us keep the server free of interruptions and to combat spam-accounts from using this discord we are implementing a new change to the server.

Some may have seen these channels before, for the vast majority of you these channels are hidden by design as part of the onboarding program Discord has for community servers. These hidden channels have not served much of a purpose before, but we are now going to set them up as honeypot traps for bots and spammers.

Now, given these channels are hidden for the majority of you, why are we telling you this?
We are telling you this because these channels become visible if you remove all of your roles. This may happen upon rejoining Ravenholdt after leaving. This may happen during moderator actions.

Ok, now what?
As part of being a honeypot channel, we are activating a function within Moroes that automatically bans anyone that posts in those channels. These bans is permanent and non-reversible. Do not test it as a prank. Do not post there for memes. You will get banned.

Ima actually take this moment to send the forbidden ping because this is a reminder to everyone with an active discord account. There is an ongoing influx of phishing activity ongoing on discord, and they all will send direct messages to anyone listed as a discord friend with specific compromised accounts. So as a refresher;

  • Your friend does not have a passion project game that he has made that he needs your input on before it gets launched on steam.
  • Your friend does not have a need to send you zipped files unless you have specifically requested something to be zipped.
  • Your friend is not an aspiring artist that needs to show you their portfolio.

Your account, your responsebility. Take additional time to think about why you are receiving messages or requests, if they fit the pattern or messaging style that your friend typically uses. Just because its your friends account, does not mean its your friend sending the message. If you think something is off, ask for files to be uploaded on neutral uploading pages that allows viewing before committing to a download. Its better to be overly skeptical, than have your discord account taken over. At best it stops at only discord, but if you download something you shouldnt have, they will take more.

Be careful out there.

#housing has it's own place in ravenholdt now!

With the release of player housing and the overwhelmingly strong community engagement surrounding it, we've created a new channel specifically for player housing conversation/sharing/etc.

This channel is spearheaded by our lovely transmog squad including @fluid forum, @tacit wadi and @finite creek, and serves as a separation from #transmog specifically. Especially going into midnight with the transmog system changes and expanded player housing, we felt it was necessary to have dedicated channels for each!

Thank you for keeping ravenholdt awesome, we can't wait to see what you come up with using the new systems!

This is a public holiday announcement. With Christmas eve commencing for the European community, and with the american community following in the morning, this is a good chance for a reminder to you all. For the next 48 hours you are legally allowed to:

  • Regift pickpocketed items. Just try not to give them back to their owner, it might end with a brawl.
  • Poison the Christmas snack that is left outside for Santa. We never truly got over getting coal last Christmas.
  • Wear strength items to be able to move around with the extra kilos tied around your cankles from all the food.
  • Punt gnomes. Who are we kidding, its legal all year around.
  • Cheat in Scrabble, or whatever boardgame your family enjoys to play. You can tell them I personally vouch for "waqhcve" being a word, especially if its in the triple word bonus.

With all of that being said. Go take some time off from Azeroth, its important for your family and loved ones to get to spend the holiday with you. Neither Azeroth nor Ravenholdt will be going anywhere, so return when your social meter is filled and collectively wait for the fireworks! From all of us, to all of you, happy holidays.

Hello again!

We hope you're excited for the prepatch and subsequent release of Midnight. A quick word about some housekeeping regarding support of guides/sims/discord during this time

The Midnight-Spec channels will be going away immediately with the release of prepatch, and midnight conversations will be held in the regular spec channels. Bot Commands will be updated eventually, but keep in mind that this is a large patch that will ask a lot of our community figures and guide writers here prayge UI imports and such are a rough one as well since there is very little standardized, but the wowhead guides have imports for the base blizzard UI if you need it.

Fully expect that prepatch sims will be questionable or just downright bad, regardless of class. This is normal and expected, as prepatch is not supported by the vast majority of theorycrafters and all focus is currently on getting beta/midnight implementation settled. Prepatch is and most likely always will be an absolute clown patch full of weird scaling issues, bugs, and half-working classes. Thank you for understanding

Prepatch guides for Wowhead are now live as of writing this announcement, with icyveins coming soon (probably tomorrow). As with any major guide rollout, there will be weird things to fix and oddities to clear up. I want to personally thank @untold sapphire @wide pecan @small heart and @last vapor for all the work they do for these guides, I know it's a ton of effort and all of us are very tired RHsleepy

You may know that the launch of midnight is upon us, within the next 14 hours parts of the playerbase will start enjoying the pre-release of midnight. This is new for all of us, new content, new levelcap, new talents.. And something fresh for us to enjoy. We have the following requests to make:

  • Please spoiler any story related reveals or twists so people can enjoy the story at their own pace when they get to it. This can be done by marking the relevant text and clicking the button saying 'mark as spoiler'.
  • Remember that blizzard will not be making any adjustments on balancing until the 17th at the earliest, keep this in mind when discussing your joy or dislike for something. Because of this, it will take time for theorycrafters to figure out performance and process data.
  • There will be an influx of new members joining this discord over the next few days and weeks, we implore you to exercise patience with them and help them at the best of your ability to enjoy rogue as a class.

Most of the staff of Ravenholdt will be enjoying this pre-release, but like always, do ping us if you see any rulebreaking behaviour.

PS: Wowhead and Icyveins guides for rogues are implemented and live for your earlybird questions.

Hey Folks, we're splitting the current Theorycrafting channel into two channels, #tc-research and #tc-updates.
Everyone can read #tc-updates but only those on a whitelist will be able to post in it. If you want to be added to that whitelist contact a TCer or me with your question and they will determine if it is appropriate for the TC channel. In the short term this may be a hassle but we hope long term it will lead to better discussion in the TC channel.
#tc-research is open to everyone for questions related to SimC development or use. Note however that questions that can be answered by "Sim it" or similar, or questions that ask people to provide simulation results will be deleted.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns about the current setup.

Is there a Nighthold attunement?
Nope

Will my legendaries automatically upgrade to 940?
Any new legendaries that drop will be 940 automatically. Any that you already have can be manually upgraded by completing a lengthy quest in Dalaran that requires you to gather essences by clearing Nighthold bosses, opening emissary caches, and opening your weekly M+ chest.

Can I bonus roll tier pieces?
Yes, though you will notably receive the tier piece itself and not a token. Hopefully you've been saving your rolls!

PSA: There is a bug allowing perma-stealth currently in the game. While this bug is "fun" in PvE especially with Mantle (big damage), I recommend not abusing it especially in PvP. It can be seen as a perma-stealth "exploit" (it is in fact!) that may be bannable. You've been warned.

The Ravenholdt Staff has been discussing how to better serve the community and operate as a platform for quite some time. We concluded it would be better to differentiate between chat moderators (Shadowblades) and Guidewriters/Coaches/Theorycrafters/Contributors/etc. To that end, we've grouped them all into a new Community Figures role (name pending). Their colour is rogue green, and in general they are helpful folks that can assist you with various things/knowledge. Shadowblades may or may not operate in those realms as well; however, their primary focus is chat moderation and rule enforcement. Meanwhile, Community Figures retain some moderation powers (in case MODS ARE ASLEEP LOL) but that is not their primary job. Think of CFs and Sblades as the Yin and Yang of smooth daily Discord operations.

As always, if you have questions or concerns about RH Moderation (and/or comments regarding specific moderators that you do not feel comfortable addressing to them directly) please reach out to me via DM and we can discuss.

We have other changes, updates, and more transparency in store that we hope to have rolling well before BFA launch. My 🚪 is always open for suggestions and discussion.

8.2 and Ravenholdt Updates
Hi Folks. 8.2 is well underway, Just a few things to keep you updated:
-Guides for 8.2 are soon ™
-Sims updates are flowing and more are being implemented as we go, please keep an eye on #tc-research and #tc-updates
-For all essence overviews there's a new bot command !Essence (Each to their own relative spec channel)
-Our very own @amber egret has updated the Azerite spreadsheet in anticipation for the new raid: https://tinyurl.com/yxqp5vbn
-There's also a fantastic professions guide as well as 8.2 pre-raid prep and other useful information in the new area written by Tirrill#3711 from Trueshot Lodge. (Pinned in #wow-general or !Prof command)

First off happy new years everyone and best of luck in the coming decade! With the new year we're going to be making some changes around Ravenholdt, overall we're happy with how the CF role has been reimplimented into Ravenholdt but we'd like to make a few changes to it. As of now we feel it's a bit stagnent in the role and not everyone in the role is particularly active in the discord. We intend the role to be an indicator to new people that the information they are getting is from a good source. So we will be moving to a system in which inactivity in the role will lead to demotion and also allow people who are helpful and active in the spec channels to get promoted. As to the CF's who are losing their role, we thank you for your help throughout the years and will gladly hand you the role back if you come back as users who fit the new look of the CF role we're implementing today.

Please welcome some new faces to the CF team as well @remote quiver @vale siren @spark flame , and welcome @pastel hearth to the mod team!

It is a fantastic day for all of us with a new expansion launching. With that we will have an influx of new members who will be joining among our ranks as rogues, please treat them like you would like to be treated - the right answer is according to our rules and guidelines kAngery . On that note, our moderation is also going to play and level alongside you, so if you notice something out of line do not hestitate to ping the blades, or the higher ups should none of us be available.

It will take a few weeks before any guides are steady and accurate while we discover the synergy between soulbinds, covenants and legendaries. So expect sweeping changes up until the end of heroic week to our information and guides!

With that said. Enjoy this launch. God speed. But above all else, have fun. We will see you on the other side!

Earlier this week there was a lawsuit filed by California Department of Fair Employment and Housing highlighting a frat-boy culture at Activision Blizzard, in which women were not given equal work opportunities at the company and were subjected to a pattern of harassment, discrimination and retaliation.

To show solidarity with the Activision Blizzard Walkout For Equality ( https://bit.ly/3BQsrHJ ) happening at Activision Blizzard headquarters Wednesday, July 28, and to support women and victims of a reprehensible work environment, we are temporarily limiting posting rights in discussion channels today between 10 AM PDT/7 PM CEST and 2 PM PDT/11 PM CEST.

Walkout organizers also included a message for non-Activision Blizzard members of the gaming community who’d like to show their support for their effort, urging them to post on social media with the #ActiBlizzWalkout hashtag and using the blue heart emoji. They also urge anyone wishing to stand in solidarity with them to donate to one of the following charities.

Dear Shadow Dancers, Swashbucklers and Silent Killers.

With 9.2 ptr being released recently and us here at Ravenholdt looking to provide all of you lovely rogues with the best information from the most up to date sources, we are planning on making use of the new stage feature on discord to host a podcast from some of the best and brightest minds in thievery and murder. For those of you unable to make it on the day we will be uploading it to YouTube after.

The current line up of speakers will be our very own sim king @light lake hosting, @last vapor a fixture when it comes to high end raiding and one of the pioneers of Assassination in m+, @wide pecan who has been the face of our Outlaw channel for years now and for our first episode we shall be joined by The Red Rogue himself @fallen olive peperogue. A new channel will be open until Tuesday (#podcast-questions) where you can input questions that our speakers will take a look at and answer, if you want to learn the tricks of your trade now is your chance.

So mark your calendars Tuesday the 14th of December 10am PST/7pm CET/1pm EST!

We hope that this turns into a regular community event where we can have a discussion about rogues by rogues.

The past few weeks the attempts of phishing through discord has shot through the roof. So as a reminder, these are the most common scams:

  • Discord Hype Squad or Discord Moderator Academy are real concepts, but none of them will reach out to you through DMs trying to push you towards thirdparty webpages that seem legitimate. Do not click links from those people and report them to us, all communications with the aforementioned are all through E-mail only.

  • Individuals trying to get you to play a game or test software for the sake of getting verified on Steam or elsewhere. Classic, but people with low Perception stats seem to fall for them. These are not at all real, again - do not click links from strangers that you have no prior friendship with.

Discord is still an area on the internet, regular caution should still be shown this app. Activating Two Factor Authentication is always advised, and treat DMs as if they are your email - Never trust "princes from foreign nations" or distant relatives having left you a fortune.

We all know finding groups can be tedious. To help with this, we're working with LF.Group and adding their group finding tools to Ravenholdt. With these tools we'll be connecting to a multi-server group finding system joining Hammer of Wrath, Mythic Plus Friends, and hopefully more servers in the future. All of this functionality will be implemented through a new LFG bot and a new set of channels. If you aren't interested in this functionality, please mute the new channels. All of this will be configured over the next few days, please keep an eye out for the new channels.

You can also forward the user ID to any of the Shadowblades to get the bot banned. (you can type \@user in dms to get the user id)
