I dunno mate, Ultimate's a bit long cause of standard Bendis writing style dragging stuff out and the vocabulary feels a tad bit dated now too

Although I do still think it's one of the best modern Spider-Man runs you can get your hands on

For a new reader there's a great elseworld thing they did that essentially takes you through most of Spidey's eras albeit in a more cohesive rendition of events

It's called Spiderman lifestory, great run and only one volume

Secret Wars literally had multiple locations and characters from different dimensions pulled together to form Battleworld

A canon event that happened before the current version of 616 Earth was remade

Miles is still in 616 and so was the Maker, which confirms Secret wars is still canon, so by proxy the old Ultimate universe still is too

They even referenced it a bunch at the start of the new Ultimates run

Current run's not horrible either, although clearly they had no idea what to do with Spidey cause they did the old send him to space to make him interesting trope

Did it to Ironman when his sales were low, same with Venom, same with BP rn

Did it to Hulk too

But hey it's kinda working so I'm not mad

Other than that new Ultimate run was great, and his appearances in other things have been good too like Zdarsky's run and stuff in between

I don’t read much magik but i do read elsa bloodstone comics a lot!! The issue with her is that she doesn’t particularly have any runs beyond her introduction, she just appears here and there. You can read Bloodstone (2001) if you want to but she has a very different personality outside of that comic run.

If you want Elsa pointers, here is what I would recommend:

Death of Doctor Strange: Bloodstone (2022)
Werewolf by Night one-shot (2023)
Legion of Monsters (2011)
Nextwave: Agents of HATE (2006) (not my personal fav but you might like it)

Since you mentioned fantasy, try Strange Academy (2022). I also personally think Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos (2015) is fun but it’s more monster-based.

Justice league dark was comprised of characters from DC's vertigo lineup, see DC does things a little differently to Marvel where they have a regular line and a concurrent vertigo line to separate heroes who can touch up on darker stories and heroes who can't

You should watch the trial of the incredible hulk first. Its a good intro to him.

If your talking origins man without fear by miller is a good place but has some few elements which aren't accurate, if your talking runs Frank miller reinvented the character and if you want a more modern run with crossovers zdarsky is a good place to start

big agree w killing moon. if your original intro to him was the netflix show, then zdarsky's run keeps a lot of the same tone, though the pacing is quite quick imo. the direct inspo for the show was mwf (five issues i believe) and born again was the inspo for s3. from what i know essentially most if not all runs after this use this as the beginning canon lore too. some runs change up the lore very slightly as far as im aware too.
right now there is also a new run that just released its first issue if you wanna keep up with it too (phillips and garbett iirc).
there are some elektra as dd comics too if those interest you (shes my favorite :p). im not sure of any other new-reader-friendly ones tbh. best place to see more is prob the dd subreddit and then jump off from there :)

You can go either way with logan's solo runs or the highly recommended big xmen stories where he's a key protagonist, like hickman or claremont/miller's xmen and uncanny or giant xmen runs. For the first, i'd say wolverine vol 2, #1-#10. Early madripoor by claremont, and i like it a lot. Old man logan obviously. barry windsor-smith’s weapon X. Larry Hama's run as well, it's so underrated

Bringing the villains Green Goblin, the Sinister Six (kinda like the TMNT system in Injustice 2 but instead it would be with 5 characters: Doc Ock, Electro, Sandman, Lizard, and Mysterio), Killmonger, Apocalypse, Shang-Chi, Robbie Reyes, and the Starbrand from Jason Aarom Avengers phase. Bring both Pre-Historic Avengers and Multiversal Masters of Evil themed skins with unique animations and special effects. Mix both it, the Avengers Assemble saga of Jason Aaron, with Secret Wars (2015), and Marvel Rivals storyline. With boss battles like during the zombie themed mode, but it would be against Doctor Doom in his Ruler of BattleWorld skin and his Barons Council including Ghost Goblin, Dark Phoenix Mystique (skin for Jean Grey), King Monger wielding both Thor and Black Panther powers, a Apocalypse wielding his own version of the Starbrand and pharaoh of Egyptia (one of the realms of BattleWorld), Mandarim wielding the Iron Fist Dragon Powers (skin for Iron Fist and the skin inspired by the MCU version of Mandarim), and a Sorcerer Supreme version of Mysterio. Like please bring to the Marvel Rivals story and lore the Pre-Historic Avengers and the Multiversal Avengers and Masters of Evil.

I love the Jason Aaron Avengers Era and all their sagas and lore that it still exists and impacts the Marvel Universe. Pre-Historic Avengers are really good and epic

This is gonna sound real obvious but you can actually tell by the publishing date, but just start reading from a story about your desired character that catches your attention the most, stories are usually understandable by themselves, but if you don't see any individual story, try looking for an event in which your character is included and plays a significant role, that can work too, and then you can kick off from that point

Well, carnage technically IS cletus kasady since it was a tiny, tiny spawn that venom dropped when it bonded to eddie once again in jail, and carnage entered in a wound kasady inflicted to himself, so it's cletus' dna that completed the symbiote, so yeah, they kind of are one and the same

But there's a bunch of times cletus and carnage were separated and carnage had to bond to someone else to survive (most times)

The exceptions are when carnage chose to abandon cletus to bond to silver surfer (which he later regrets and goes back to cletus), and in newer (and honestly not as well-written) stories inspired by the venom 2 movie (for some reason, that movie was awful, but still real popular) in which cletus and carnage took separate ways because carnage wanted godhood and cletus wanted to settle for k*lling people in the streets.

But other than that, after Avengers vs X-men the entire run where Cyclops is just the new Magneto and it became the Jene Gray school for gifted individuals

You can go so many different ways with xmen. Jonathan hickman’s omnibus might be a good place to start…astonishing xmen is good, even tho you need a little context from house of m. 2001 new xmen.

My advice? Dont try to read everything, i went down that way and it was media burnout. Focus on contain runs for now.

Chris Claremont is who made most of these characters popular and really fleshed them out (even created many of them.) His books are legendary so you should check out his, starting from Giant X-Men and Uncanny X-Men. The writing style and art is from the seventies tho, so that might turn you off.

For something more recent, Michael Brian Bendis’ All New X-men or Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men. I’m sure others could give better recommendations
