With sword you can often catch landings with slight or nlight, or you can bait out an attack and quickly dash in to punish with dlight. If you’re confident in catching a landing and you need to take a stock, sword ssig is a really good option that hits pretty high and goes really far. On blasters you can try to keep your opponent at your sair range and box them out with those sairs. Similarly to sword, you can use ssig to catch landings, but for guns the hitbox isn’t as high and doesn’t go as far, but it’s also much quicker. Also, ledge trapping with Thatch is really good because you have gun dsig, and then can cover the get up options with dlights or jump sairs or jump recoveries

Don’t underestimate gun nair’s juggling power either, it’s a really good option when your opponent is in the air and trying to get back to the ground

As a player of multiple fighting games I’m really confused as to why a 2D game which only has to worry about signatures releases only 3 characters a year.
I know it’s not a budget issue as this game makes loads. Seriously all you have to worry about is character design, signature animation and balance so why does a well budgeted 2D game only come out with 3 characters a year where’s as 3D games whom literally have to diversify base attacks and well as signatures (specials) drop more a year not to talk about different movement animation huh?

But there was an overload of new guns which were slowly making the older guns obsolete, so they switched and the community responded positively. So notice how everything is monthly and fast, because their player base is humongous and they probably don't care about losing it.

Now take brawlhalla
Brawlhalla has everything slow, if I've to buy the home team color for a legend, I've to wait a YEAR, if I've to use a new legend, also maybe a year, the ranked season lasts for 3 months I'm not sure, but the bp ends in the same. Longevity holds a loyal player base longer, and people have time to complete missions. Brawlhalla is also extremely competitive. I guess it all comes down to what the Dev's expect from the player base and the ammount of people playing. Just what i think, i can be completely wrong

I see your point but looking at the effort equivalent to other fighters especially 3D ones it absolutely makes no sense why we have to wait this long to get new champs especially looking at how well this game is doing profit wise.
They literally only have to worry about design signature and stats balance and what’s more the game is just 2D. Blasters = Humming bird + static movement (only way I know to explain it, for eg dlight dair, the moves keep you in a single place but then you dash jump to bridge them so it's quick again)
Katars = Diagonal full body hits
