DON'T try to counterattack immediately. at least not every time

also don't mash recovery in there
that'd just cause you to get killed

Your distancing is poor then. Waiting for predictable sigs and or punishing with weapon throws always works. You just need to have a better system of reading movements in a spammer because in order to spam something you'd have to be doing it multiple times. Even if they do different sigs they still have a pattern

For one, I have a much easier time reading others than trying to not get read myself, and so it becomes a lot easier to play on the defense than on the offense

My approaches with bow are d/s-light and d/s-air, which are quite a number.

However, all of them are instantly countered by a single well-placed spot dodge, and most times due to their short duration, the opponent can even dodge-cancel into a string.

If they are rushing towards you, then go for an slight and weave it into a string, learn all the reads after bow slight so you can do dlight and then nair sair, whatev

Dlight into recovery is the best KO Option on bow, Use nlights during neutral game if the opponent is floaty, but it's a hard read to convert nlight into a decent string.

Air :
Nair is my most favorite move on bow and I feel it's the best aerial move on bow, you can juggle well with nairs, you can spam nairs and go unpunished by less experienced users
Sair is usually used after dlight which sends them offstage, bow sair isn't the best move on its kit, but snipe sairs whenever you can, it has good potential

orb and bow dairs are the best in the game when it comes to dairs since its edge guard potential is unmatched, if you want to use dair on stage, you can always get in sair since golds and some plats (i'm assuming you are gold/plat) don't dodge and get caught easily by sair. Spam Dairs at the edge
