additionally, it's very hard to team combo with them, and their short range is also a disadvantage when there's more hitboxes on screen

i just started playing the game recently, which hero should i go to first?

For starters, the best weapons to start out with are Sword, Spear, and Hammer. So I would say some legends like Bodvar, Hattori, and Gnash.

Some other legends that are also easy are Brynn, Jhala, and Orion.

Not much really. The weapon's moveset is quite easy, with it's air moves being very forgiving, and the grounded combos being not hard to pull off.

Every weapon has a high skill ceiling, but the complex side of spear comes in with Spacing, which you'll learn overtime just playing Brawl.

It's really their weapons and stats. Their Sigs could be the complex part, being "worse" legends are harder to use, but it really depends on the skill ceiling of the weapon.

Greatsword (we call it GS for short) is the most complex weapon in the game, having a different learning curve than any weapon, making GS Legends harder to learn.
