when the tournament is closer to happening (a day or so before it starts) they will release the brackets so you can see who you will fight.
one of you will get told to make a room with tournament rules, if its you then make it and put the room number in smash.gg, if its them then you join it through their room number.
the person who makes the lobby is the higher seed, you can also just click on their name in smash.gg and compare it to yours since it shows their seed.
i recommend watching the youtube video below since it answers most questions you probably have

Ideally you should randomise your dodging to make it harder to be read though

its so non-specific, its just basically saying " i lose to people better than me" - watch your replays back and learn from your mistakes which caused you to lose, then apply what you learnt in future games
as for scythe players, they will have a much harder time if you're not readable, think about your dodges and hitstun-reactions and how you can adapt to them reading you mid-game

dont get in the mindset that its the weapon thats the problem ,every weapon will have at least some problem you'll have to deal with and overcome. you will not find a weapon that will 'carry' you or make you any better at the game unless you actually play the weapon and learn how to play it well. the weapon wont give you "good plays and strings", you make those good plays and do those strings, every weapon can do what you want, you just need to find the one that works for you

well i wouldn't blame the weapon for that, but just start small, stuff you can hit consistently on the bot without a specific setup, then try using that in games, if you can do it in training mode you can do it in real games
and know that you dont need to play training mode to practise combos if you dont want, i never have and i can do all the combos, sometimes experience is better than muscle memory

whenever someone comes here asking to do it i tell them learn it when they're more mechanically skilled if they're not very experienced because its just a waste of time spending hours to hit it once in training mode when it comes pretty easily if you've already got the mechanics down imo
tho idk all the combos i learn i usually hit by accident then the input just sticks in my brain lol

You just get so much less practice when you rely on hitting a specific attack on an opponent who's trying not to get hit by it

i guess but whenever i have given training mode a try i do learn how to hit the combo better, but only in training mode, doing it in a real game is just way harder
imo spear triple dlight is a lot more applicable to learn in training mode since you'll have the setup for it way less in real games than hitting dlight on gauntlets since you need the right map and dlight angle + they cant have a dodge. but even then its not that hard since i already know how to ledge cancel dashs and attacks, its just the same idea in a combo
everyone learns differently tho i dont think training mode is bad for practise or anything

yeah definitely always worth finding what works for the specific person, i just like mentioning that training mode isnt essential cuz i see a lot of people come here like "i practise x combo for 6 hours and i still cant do it", just sounds like 6 hours of mindblock to me :p
