kinda, i think neutral becomes more important as you get higher, and you definitely sometimes get people who try to test your patience by never approaching/parry. i dont really come across that many players in ranked who play REALLY passive, but in tournament in general everyone plays slower, since the stakes are higher

you've got air dodge and grounded spot dodge that you probably already know

it has no i frames but it gives a burst of speed, very similar to wavedashing.
back dodge does a backdash which behaves a bit differently.

forward dash has those features:

charging sigs or spot dodging keeps the momentum.
if you jump right after, you do a dashjump, which has a longer and lower arc
if you fastfall right after, you do a shot hop forward. chain them together, and you're doing dashjump fastfalling, which is a great movement option

@shell blade in smash there’s no dash button. In this game it’s probably the most important button there is. U want to get into the habit of just using it a lot. When u want to punish, dash into your moves. Dash away from opponents, towards them, etc.

Dodge out of the first move u get hit with. Doesn’t matter what direction. Just dodge. That’ll negate a lot of the low elo weapons like lance and scythe that can get a lot of damage if u don’t dodge.

Treat heavy moves/signatures like smash attacks. Only to kill it when u want to read, or when u KNOW you’ll hit it. Ofc if u smash attack for no reason, they are going to punish u. Same concept here.

Up special = recovery, except u have 3. There is triple jump in this game, unlike smash. Every jump can be replaced with another recovery as well, but with more power and less distance
