How in the LITERAL hell do you beat katars? Every player who uses this weapon is an absolute DEGENERATE. Miss an attack? Dodge IMMEDIATELY due to having 0 recovery frames. Build free damage? Spam nair and halfpipe combo, missing wont get you punished anyways. Struggling to kill? Land the easiest fucking read in your life, this weapon is THAT FAST.

I used this weapon in ranked (i barely even use it) and i had a winning streak of SIX.

The weapon has a solution to EVERYTHING?

And i dont wanna hear, "OH BUT IT LACKS RANGE!" why the hell does it matter if the whole purpose of playing katars is being all up in your opponent's face?

now start the game and pick brawlhaven
when the game starts immediately leave the match then rejoin making sure you dont touch any buttons after the rejoin
thatll make a bot play for you turning it into a bot vs bot game
come back in 25 mins and redo, youll get around 1k xp per match which is like 250 gold

the other option is to play ranked if youre above 1400, that give you a 5-50% xp/coin boost

you're supposed to read your opponent's dodge to extend the two hits.

and people have habits. you need to figure out their habits.

if you're not sure yet, react. get a first hit, wait for a dodge, and continue. if you manage to get another hit, great. go nuts. otherwise, more pattern recognition.

people lose to scythe for the following reasons:

1. they dodge in/spot all the time
2. they attack right after dodging
3. they panic dodge, allowing the scythe player to just wait and then punish

uhh, compared to other platform fighters, the main mechanics are the same between characters, so it makes it easier to swap between characters. theres no different fall speeds or whatever

but if ur getting started in the game, theres recourses out there that go through the basics, i would recommend finding someone u enjoy playing (u can try out all characters for free in the offline modes) and just sticking with it until u get more comfortable with the game

I personally throw out a side light a few times to see their dodge patterns. if they keep dodging randomly (depending on your rank) then go for a side light nair. it will catch most of the times. if you notice a pattern in their dodge for example a dodge up -> jump gc dlight. dodge in -> dash back dlight. dodge down -> side light down light. once you catch the dodge you can even add a 2nd gc dlight and then a sair or recovery

most of the guides aren't really that good for it for some reason. One of them have a REALLY low mic and the other just reviews a game and doesn't go into edge guarding like that

you can edge guard with a spear gp if they are low and trying to recover to stage, a down sig on spear on the edge, you can full charge it in the lower ranks. as you climb people will adapt and dodge through your attacks. but in bronze you should be fine. you can also just wait on the edge, just far enough so they can't hit you. and punish with an nlight. or if they jump a dlight sair

sigs are ideal to punish compared to light attacks cause of high recovery frames comparatively & longer start up - id just back up/dodge and play slow if i feel like theyre playing out of my control, focusing on avoiding their sig, to hit a combo or string onto them before spacing out again

its annoying to play that way but teaches spacing, movement, punishing, and which attacks to choose imo & you dont have to play like that if they dont spam/if you get used to the spamming and surpass it

you can get them to sig by baiting them with movement where theyd usually go for, then retreating when they start up the attack. if they start playing farther back you can poke them a bit until they start getting anxious and throwing out moves again

aw fair, yeah id just try to make sure im not in their range staying a safe distance away, dodging or backing up if needed when they go for it & punishing that way. playing slow is best for learning if the spammers are deciding the speed of the match

which majority would you like to cater to? are they silver? gold? platinum? diamond? valhallan? pros? unranked players? ffa players? custom game players? do these people play 1v1 or 2v2? from which region?
the devs have to try to cater their patches to possibly thousands of players for each gamemode from all ranks. a weapon that is "no skill" to you is a weapon that is obsolete to another, much more advanced player. and that same weapon may be insanely good in a gamemode that you aren't even playing, so it will get nerfed specifically because it is overperforming in that gamemode, in turn making it worse in the other gamemode

why always make what takes no skill the best weapon
they normally don't. you can beat any player with any weapon if you're simply better than they are. you may be at a disadvantage because the weapon they are holding is a little too strong or a little too quick but you can still beat them. the game isn't just about weapons, it has a whole movement system you can use to outplay your opponent

but when you reach that plateau and you look for ways to improve more but it gets harder, and people start to meet the same skill level. Then you on top of that have a weapon that does 500 damage in one hit and has 1 frame of recovery time on it's slowest attack. Where it's such a crutch that you need to be 5x to 10x the skill level of your opponent just because he has a character that is just so much stronger than yours. It leaves no diversity or option to play other characters. you just have to give in and play the same shit

obstacle in your way > learn about the obstacle > learn obstacle weaknesses > implement that into gameplay

if you don't like learning, fighting games simply aren't for you

the game boosts the obstacle and makes it 50 times stronger than anything else. so you need 500hrs more on the game just to beat something someone just picked up

you need to see it relative to the playerbase not just the point of the game
