A gravity-cancelled attack, also known as gc, is a way of doing a grounded attack while in the air. It works for all grounded light and signature attacks, and can be executed by inputting an aerial spotdodge (dodging without a direction while in the air) and then any attack. Note that gravity cancels count as using your dodge, using the dodge cooldown with the single difference is that touching the ground does not affect the cooldown. Additionally, it is possible to gravity cancel taunts, done the same way as attacks.

but it's not perfect. if you have good ping consistently, it's better to just disable it (using that launch option) to avoid getting worse ping accidently

dodging in/spot can also work but it's much more predictable

most importantly, and this is generally good advice: don't attack out of a dodge. instead, reset to neutral so you can get your dodge back.

also lance has a big blindspot above and below it - that's where its range is poor
above it can only contest with nair, and nair also has a blindspot (and isn't long lasting)

offstage, fastfall. a common mistake against lance is panic jumping.
