please graduate the weapon spawn improvements already.
they're good and having them as test features only causes issues when battlepass missions require specific maps.
and get rid of the sig cooldown changes when hitting. twk said it was never intended to be a test feature but it has existed for over 2 years and was never in any patch note.
if you dash or just press the dodge button for any other reason before getting hit you can't perfect dodge if the stun is too low
i think it should be if you dodge the first frame before an attack, how it is now kills dodge reading.
this is because getting hit doesn't reset the dodge mashing check (which is probably a bug)
it should work properly when stun lasts more than 30 frames
I don't mind hold to dodge, if someone burns their dodge that's fine. It might help new players and might reduce mashing in intermediate players. Expert players it won't really affect.
I don't like perfect dodge at all, it's unnecessary.
there aren't too many situations where you should be dodging immediately after getting hit. if anything, this is just encouraging more bad habits for players who impulsively dodge earlier than they should've. delayed dodges are just a lot more optimal in a variety of situations that makes PD (perfect dodge) a niche tool by comparison
"foda said that there is not LVL100 rewards because they don't want to make people farm/grind xp and waste they life" then they add dodge buffs to make people waste even more time learning dodge timings for every attack, sig, every, wall interactions, light sig followed up by light attack from weapon x to y at every amount of damage and defense/strength variables, is just impossible to learn every SITUATIONAL TIMING in this game, if you try do that, you will waste all you training time in this, and still lose since you don't reserved time to learn: reads, when to approach, baiting, when to punish, how to adapt to new playstyles, and + when a balance path comes all that training may need to be done again since balance will aways be changing... it's impossible to learn all dodge timing, and that "pros aways dodge frame 1" IS A MASSIVE LIE, it's impossible to do that with dodging... but do you want to know what is possible to get all timings??? yes you can learn all inputs from a single legend or a litle/the basics true combos timings off all, i remember some pro saying it will main wu shang in both, 2v2 and 1v1 since he think is too hard to TOP MASTER 2 different legends at the same time one for each gamemode

the game is not forcing, but is rewarding lucky inputs, since is impossible to do perfect dodges every time in every scenario due to the amount of variables there is in brawl(your stun depends of the damage build that you have, then it also depends of the strength/defence difference of you and your enemy, and also depends of for example if your bounce of a wall or the ground, and there is more, it also depends of the player input delay or ping) the stun is so variable, you can sure learn one or 5 dodge timing after some attack attack but then change the amount of damage you have and the defence/strength and the timing now is different, for this reason i use macros, lock the game behind tide inputs is bad, it make apex keyboards and macros advantage, i think the only thing that need to lock the pros is it's mind and capacity of adapting/know when it can punish, baiting, remembering/paying attention to the opponent actions/and it's own too, like for what direction he dodge, what he do after get hit... all of this things i said make a good pro player, and don't depend on tide inputs or macros/good keyboards, IT'S ALL MENTAL, getting in the opponent mind

the perfect dodge test feature has a mechanism that prevents doing perfect dodges if you're mashing
axe nlight always does 26 frames of stun
legends may travel further, but they stay stunned for the same number of frames
powers have both FixedImpulse and VariableImpulse (force), but there is only FixedStunTime (no VariableStunTime)
and stun is directly read from the FixedStunTime variable with no modification (barring some special cases with bubble tag and brawldown where the stun is overwritten)
i just tested in training mode, the bot can perform an action after around 23 frames with 0 damage, but with 130 damage he can only perform an action after around 44 frames, i counted one by one with the same legends and stats, well, when i said stun i mean the time where you can't dodge or do anything, this time is aways the same? i tested on training mode and this time varies with more damage accumulated

so apparently stun can last longer than the FixedStunTime value if the stunned player is moving faster than 96 units per frame
this probably doesn't have a notable effect on strings, but it's still interesting
definitely, when you get hit at high damage youre always stunned for longer if it knocks you somewhere far
Perfect dodge doesnt fit brawlhalla at all. The idea that you can "PD" after a hit is weird not while you getting hit because its not any normal fighting game, you can "PD" almost everything by just playing normally and i dont think thats a good thing. also yes while perfect dodge is meant to reward you its doing the opposite cuz to get the benefit from it you need to be grounded so if the enemy saw you perfect dodge them 100% they will punish you for going to the stage. im not implying that perfect parry benefit should not be "only grounded" because it will be busted but rather that its a feature that cannot be in a platform fighting game its function really differently than any normal fighting games especially brawlhalla.

I mean I play on switch and I barely see any purpose in the perfect dodge maybe because i'm dodging and I get a perfect dodge randomly out of nowhere or it just doesn't happen. Then I remember that video of the demonstration of the perfect dodge with the spear was pretty good but in a live game? to me it seems very unlikely a perfect dodge will be active to get out of the slight dlight of spear. That's maybe because I really didn't do what the video demonstrated though you can just dodge backwards and forwards or anywhere to dodge a spear slight dlight. But also perfect dodges aren't as rewarding when you perfectly time them and really randomly happen in a sense of that even when you aren't getting attacked you can just do a perfect dodge once or twice and then never again. Don't know if perfect dodges are really gonna be game-breaking with how much perfect timing you need but again I play on switch and maybe it's a bit harder on console(?) but also just a thought that perfect dodges could be looked at and maybe reworked if not could be just a scrapped idea.

The feature should not be graduated in my opinion. Perfect dodge takes away reward from dodge reads and promotes more neutral-heavy playstyles especially in high levels. This makes the game much more rewarding for passive players and kind of takes away the fun for a bunch of players.

yeah no im not gonna make a long ol speech about the fundamental mechanics of the game all i know is i hate this hold to dodge as it allows for guaranteed dodges on low dodge frame combos and just kinda advertises a very passive playstyle

i honestly hate the perfect dodge feature, string weapons become bad and combo weapons like axe and hammer become almost broken (the community is complaining about axe rn being broken due to mainly this) so i say DON'T IMPLIMENT GAME-WIDE
A quick reminder. Weapons in brawlhalla aren't broken. People just know how to use it better than you, if not better then you just didn't Dodge.

in general yes id agree with you on the fact that the game is pretty balanced, and saying that axe and hammer are broken in this context might be an exaggeration
but i believe youre not fully getting the idea @twilit lintel is trying to communicate
generally speaking, by design, all weapons perform roughly equally on the scale of a full engagement (such as a string, combo, signature, what have you) in terms of damage and positional advantage. for example, most basic bread and butter strings will usually deal ~25 dmg
but each weapon will offer a unique implementation of how to achieve the same end goal, and you can sort those impls into 3 general categories: heavy, medium, and light weaps (some ppl might do 2 catgs but who gives a shit its still the same idea; its a spectrum and you just draw arbitrary lines)
heavy weaps focus more on stronger riskier attacks such that you can do more dmg with less actions, while light weaps push you towards doing extended strings utilising weaker but faster atks. at the end its just a risk vs reward difference, but the final product remains the same. just for the sake of argument, lets say heavy weaps need 2 atks to do the same thing that medium weaps can do in 3 atks, while light weaps would need 4 atks
now diffensive (hi) options, such as dodges, dont really favour any one catg in all situations, but if we assume the defending player has a steady supply of defensive options this could favour heavier weap. this is bc engagements will break in a very short time providing less opportunity for followups and more strongly favours the strength of each individual atk. therefore, in this specific case, heavier weaps are better since youre usually only hitting a single atk
what perfect dodge does is that it makes defensive options more abundant and punish opportunities less rewarding which would allow the scenario described above to favour heavier weaps

nerf perfect dodging, like it only counts as a perfect dodge if you do a frame perfect dodge on an incoming attack.
See the idea behind perfect dodging as a way to counter the new hold to dodge feature was great but there are issues with it. Certain weapons like axe or hammer benfit heavily from this because of there shorter strings but higher dmg output but things like scythe or katars will struggle alot more to get high dmg dodge reads because the new perfect dodge feature makes them able to get there dodge faster. This makes there strings short and there punishes much less. The idea was great but the execution is flawed. At a pro level I personally think it will cause the meta to shift towards heavy weapons.
that is infinitely wrong there are better weapons than others in Brawlhalla but not broken to the point where they can't be beaten by skills. Brawlhalla has achieved a level of balance in which there are stronger weapons but not to the point everything else is trash. (other than 2020 GS) if 2 people at the same skill would 1v1 with a stronger weapon the stronger one would win
The Perfect Dodge 20 frames benefit shouldn't stack with the shorter grounded dodge cooldown. As of currently, if you perfect dodge into the ground, you immediately get your dodge back even if the dodge down was read by the opponent. As an example, bow slight - slight read for a dodge down doesn't guarantee you a dlight follow-up after the second slight anymore, even if you covered the perfect dodge as early as possible (It's even worse if you're doing it on reaction).
Perfect dodges are not hard to input at all after most strings, and i've observed that not only i, but also my opponents get perfect dodges most of the time, even more often than normal dodges (or hold dodges). For something that's so easy to do, it has no right in simply making specific reads have no reward at all.
Also, the VFX and SFX for the Perfect Dodge are very bad. The sound is very obnoxious for something that occurs so frequently, and the visual flash of the character model is disorienting. I understand that these FX are likely placeholders, but i'd like to see them changed asap if these features are to be implemented. I'd love to see a different animation for perfect dodges, that give it a distinctive look: maybe instead of being a spherical forcefield, i could be something like a prism. The audio could be less intrusive while still preserving it's clear distinction from the sound of a normal dodge (and maybe a hold-dodge could have it's own sound too).
I'd also appreciate if not only Perfect Dodge, but every tipe of dodge had a more perceptible directional animation, which would help a lot in terms of tech-chasing in advantage state, also rewarding fast paced gameplay and just marking post-hit game state clearer and more readable for spectators.
i havent played with it but judging from a lot of peoples reactions it doesnt seem like a good idea
esp considering it might not be very doable for some people bc of inconsistent lag, bad input devices, motor disability, etc
i know the window is 4f which is pretty wide for something called "perfect" but its more about the principle; brawlhalla has always been trying to be accessible (gameplay-wise) and this just goes against that
if this does graduate however make sure to add a bot setting in training to ensure the bot always tries to do perfects or never does perfects

Perfect dodge and hold-to-dodge mechanics make katars far too punishable. Since katars only have one true combo, and most of their other strings have 1-3 frames, each string becomes incredibly easy to dodge out of, rendering katars as a D-tier weapon. Moreover, a significant aspect of Brawlhalla is securing 'clips,' and being able to dodge out of tight combos will make such moments much rarer and likely impossible in most skill tiers. I believe perfect dodge and hold-to-dodge mechanics will diminish the satisfaction derived from Brawlhalla and encourage passive gameplay. They will disproportionately reward heavy weapons while making fast weapons ineffective.

After playing for several days in the trial, what I noticed right away about the new Dodge mechanic is the time in which some matches started to take place. This is very tiring, some players simply want to run around the map, use a dodge, make an attack and run again to do the famous passive gameplay, I really think these new features are very bad, I hope this doesn't make it into the game In the end, repeating myself, the game was very tiring to play in the experimental.

what is the point of having dodge window if it's all dodgeable anyways? it's not "dodge window" now, it's just a check of whether it being true or not. 1 dodge window string and 5 dodge window string have no difference at all if hold to dodge is in the game.
perfect dodge might've been the worst test feature ever. Hold to dodge doesn't really matter, a lot of times you don't want to dodge anyway, hold to dodge will at least allow you to always dodge when you intend to and may even make it easier for string weapons to read their opponent (since your opponent won't not dodge when they intended to or won't have their dodge come out at the wrong timing).
There's also a very good reason to slightly delay your dodge anyway, so you can mess up your opponent's timing on their dodge read. And @dense coral there is a difference between a 1 dodge window string and a 5. A lot of strings that have a 5 dodge window are jumpable or fastfall-able, so it's probably good if you don't waste your dodge escaping that.
I don't really care if it's added or not, but it literally doesn't change anything and can make dodging easier for new players + experienced players could also make use of it if they want, but they're likely not missing their dodge timing anyway. Normally if you just double tap the dodge button at around the right time you're not missing the dodge window
also it should be mentioned that you have a 4 frame window to dodge a 1 frame string because of the 3 frame buffer the game has on your inputs
Everyone misses their dodge timing from time to time. Hold to doge makes it so you can never miss dodge timing. Maybe because you're valhallan you don't miss your dodge timing often, but for the majority of people, we do. Also, many players do use their dodge whether it's a 1 dodge frame or 5 dodge frame. I'm low diamond and I still use my dodge, even if it's a 5 dodge frame. I strongly agree with what @dense coral said
I don't really understand what you're trying to say. If you miss your dodge timing so often why wouldn't you want this feature in the game? You seem to think it would somehow make you better at the game or something, but if you're dodging everytime you get hit even when you don't have to, a decent player will easily take advantage of that regardless and hold to dodge will not aid you in the slightest.
All hold to dodge does is let you dodge when you intend to regardless of your skill level, but it will rarely be a factor in if you win or lose. If my string has any dodge window at all, no matter how small, I'm always expecting that my opponent is capable of dodging that. Trying to win games off of praying your opponent misses the dodge window seems like a very inconsistent strategy
I disagree. Let's say you are playing katars. You do a string that has 1 dodge frame. Timing that dodge perfectly to get out of it is incredibly difficult. Hold to dodge will make it so 1 dodge frame is irrelevant as you'll always be able to get out of it. You can't expect to get 100% accuracy for any dodge. Hold to dodge will make it so regardless of the dodge frames, you'll guarantee get out of it. It takes away some of the skill in the game as well, as timing your dodge wont matter anymore
I think any katar player would much rather know that they hit their string because their opponent chose not to dodge rather than not knowing whether they intended to dodge but missed their input or went for a no dodge mix up

No one can get 100% accuracy on 1 dodge frame. Not even pros. Introducing hold to dodge will make it so anyone will have a 100% chance to dodge out of any string regardless of dodge frames. This essentially just makes 1 dodge frame the same as 5 dodge frames

Dodge changes just sound super unnecessary. Mashing is preventable by learning your timing and that is just a part of the game. You drop the skill celing so much by adding a feature like hold to dodge, especially when it works off the first frame you exit hitstun. I also think it will make it WAY harder for players who are learning the game since things get much more percise the higher elo you go. Once they actually begin to get better at the game, they will have developed this essentially useless habit of holding dodge, rather than considering not dodging and using other movement options. Its like learning the game with W = Jump + Aim up. Just makes it harder later for them imo.

i think it's more of an accessibility feature than anything, since it prevents the need for mashing or semi-precise dodge timings
i personally dislike the hold to dodge feature, but i like the idea of altering mechanics to cater to less capable or newer players
I totally understand it being an accessibility feature however it almost feels like an unfair advantage rather than accessability. To their credit it sounds incredibly hard to add any sort of accessibility features to a fast paced fighting game. I just really feels as though this is not the right direction. My main concern would just be how easy and consistent it would make things. Its fun to be able to catch people off gaurd with a quick 2 hit string that they could dodge but didnt quite register fast enough. Feels like it would remove that part of the game. Just an opinion ofc, I still totally see your point

SIMPLE Quality Of Life idea: just add a DASH ONLY keybinding option... the game have a aim up and jump togheter or separated option, so why i can't separate dodge/chaseDodge from dash

Probably to remove miss-inputs (unintended dodges) when you dash dance, platform cancel or just move fast. But making dodge and dash separate buttons would require a new muscle memory to be learned.

-making weapon throws deflectable/blockable by [certain] attacks

Idk where to write it but please put an option to hear the normal sfx/disable crossovers. The lightsabers are so quiet and confusing and if anyone charges a sig with a crossover I don't know which sig they are charging or simply using. I can't learn crossovers animations too, it's kinda painful

PLEASE do not make this dair change. if you whiff you should be punished for whiffing in a competitive game, take it away from axe if uyhou want consistency (axe shouldnt have it anyways). You should have to use your movement properly to space moves, not just get off the hook with a grounded version like axe already has. This is something high level players already complain about axe having because it lowers the skill ceiling and raises the skill floor for bad players. Not to mention blaster dair and spear dair are ALREADY 2 of the best moves in the whole game, so is axe dair (i play all 3 of those weapons).

sword, scythe, even gauntlets will drop if you go too low, katars and boots dont do full damage if you miss-space and only hit grounded. lance, axe, bow, cannon, and orb have it, but one of those dairs actually should require spacing and usually does (axe dair)

Agreed. The blasters dair looked wonky as hell. I don't think the change is bad but the way it works and the animation definitely looks like it should get some fine tuning. I feel quite a few other weapons, (mentioned in what you're replying too) At least animation wise when looking at animation correctness (I don't know about competitive wise and cannot speak for it, and know these changes would greatly effect the competitive scene) could benefit from grounded variants, like hammer dair, which I'd imagine instead of going through the ground would hit the ground instead, kind of like gp. Or sword dair which would probably be similar to dlight when grounded with a lot less range.

If sword dair hits grounded in your mind then so do spear and blasters and they have combos too.
Spear: dair>sair>nlight, Dair>fastfall> dlight, dair>dair>dair etc
blasters: dair>gc dlight> sair, Dair> gc nlight> cd nair, dair> sair
i guess a better way to phrase this, is that only katars, boots and axe hit grounded when you are stacked with the opponent, why add that to 2 more weapons who already have insane dairs? and why is axe in that same group with katars and boots when their moves hitbox in always stacked?

i definitely agree, at the very least you should be able to disable crossovers in ranked
i might be a little early to talk about the newest experimental features - but here's some thoughts i have from clips shown:
blasters grounded dair
- would it make more sense for the user to hover above the shots, the same way if the user were to hit the dair? this might need some discussion
- if we are to keep this change where the user continues to fall, why do they pivot the tiniest bit forward while hitting grounded dair? this pivot seems strange and it doesn't make too much sense
spear grounded dair
- i feel like for the grounded variant the user might want to bounce a little higher than what it currently is, bouncing that small off of the ground looks a little odd with the current animation and how long the spear's handle is
these suggestions are kinda nitpicky, but would help the moves a bit. these additions already look great, it's nice seeing older weapons get some love.

i think the grounded blasts on blasters are better than just hovering; having a hovering gdair would probably feel pretty weird and besides it doesnt really offer anything new over the normal adair
what this gdair does is essentially act like a falling/platform cancel or gc dlight
it also mirrors other gdair variants that stop the user on the ground and not in the air
also the problem with a floating gdair is well its an extra floating tool that can get pretty annoying on a weapon that has so many floaty dair spammers
as for the fwd scoot yeah it does seem odd but i think it might be to prevent it from having too much aoe advantage by making it hit even further forward
as for spear also same thing applies where having a high bounce on miss does make it extra floaty and annoying
but i do agree the animation looks choppy and nauseating

Don't know where to put thism, but greatsword needs a serious nerf. Nearly everyone can agree to this. It kills too early. It has very little recovery frames. Hit boxes too large for such a fast weapon. It's a serious problem for the brawlhalla community and playerbase

- blasters dair: (video 1) if you aerial the first blast and ground the second blast, a grounded blast gfx will appear for the first blast even tho it wasnt grounded; its abnormally large and looks weird
- both: (video 2 and 3) there are still cases where you can hit the aerial version on the ground; grounded check should be slightly further down
- blasters dair: (video 4) can be reduced in duration if hit closer to the ground, not sure if this inconsistency is intended or if its good or not
- blasters dair: (not pictured) ground check should be moved forward to more accurately represent the move's area of effect; for eg if you dair into the ground as youre falling just outside the edge of the map youll do the aerial version where id expect the grounded version
note: for number 4, target method should change from ground check to something like path, collider hitbox should be slightly in front of the user's origin

ive mainly messed around with spear since the blaster's change seems to only make it so you can dair as a landing option without missing the target stacked on you.
Labbing it in training mode its definitely interesting but it will honestly not be very practical. From what it looks like right now the grounded dair has more stagger frames than the opponent, and unless the opponent expects you do go for it (when the grounded dair is super fast) neither player will be punished unless the opponent doesnt have a dodge.
I would love to go into the in-depth details but the broad strokes is that its a flashy set up tool or get off me tool that has some degree of utility with GC Dlight, Wu Shang Nsig, Kaya SSig, Ada Ssig, Arcadia Dsig, etc, its just that none of it is confirmed and you would only really use it to get the opponent off of you or set up a crazy kill option if you have the right spacing or signature space.
The opponent recovers so fast from stun that it would make using it in 2v2 comboes extremely tight

There's 13 frames of startup on both the experimental version and normal version. Each shot has 5 active frames but the experimental version has a frame inbetween the shots. And each has 18 recovery frames
So it's gone from 41 total frames to 42, making the experimental aerial DAir slightly easier to punish

so the game latches that and initiates gdair
but because youre moving backwards relatively fast you clear the lip of the stage by the next frame
now youre supposed to snap to the ground but theres no more ground so it just snaps you down to the collider
this is an issue of speed, making the collider thinner might make this more rare but i think it might be impossible to get rid of completely
here you can see the same issue but normal instead of pivot; since your deceleration is sharper when travelling backwards, this makes the fwd buggy variant easier to land than the pivot one
the 2nd vid has a slight variation on the pivot one thats closer to the ground which might illustrate my point better

i think this happens because you creep over the lip of the edge by a tiny bit as youre rising from the jump before the dair
and this happens because youre holding fwd towards the stage
so yeah making the collider smaller would make this even harder to do
but even rn it needs very precise timing and inputs; here a very similar set of inputs produce opposite results
you don't need to move forward, just being above the ground is enough
interesting that this doesn't count as a ground touch, show feet in training mode
grounded touch is defined as your bottom ecb resting on a ground hard collision (your top ecb can also give you a ground touch but you need to be clipped inside the stage for that matter so we can safely ignore it)
during the pogo sequence in the vid your bottom ecb is only above the ground line at the apex of your jump and since youre not moving horizontall you never get the chance to touch the ground
and the reason why you get a wall touch is bc your top ecb is touching the wall during the bounce (wall touches only check top ecb)
but what this clip tells me is you need to be at a certain height for the move to consider firing a ground check, and be within a thin range just off the wall for the width of the collider to interfere with the collision calculation
since i mentioned them, your collisions (see image, ecbs are cyan) are defined as 2 2×2 unit boxes independent of your hurtbox; one is at your origin and the other is 120 units above it. your player name and arrow are always fixed relative to your ecbs

Axe DAir seems to avoid this problem by making it's collision bubble very tiny, scythe GP has the same behaviour as spear DAir. But it seems greatsword DAir solved the problem by requiring both cricles to collide, but I know it runs into other problems. Maybe this is something that could be done universally

the new spear dair transitions to the grounded variation using a ComboOverrideIfRelease.
for this situation, there are 3 relevant events where the transition happens:
the user is on the ground
the user is on the wall
the collision check succeeds
the collision check works by doing a raycast from the legend's hurtbox center, to the hitbox's top. if there are multiple hitboxes, multiple raycasts will be done.
each power can set a custom min number of raycasts that need to find collision. for all of them except for greatsword dair, it's 1.
there's also an extra check where if the legend's position (which is at its feet) is below the point where the raycast hits the collision, that raycast is not counted.
spear dair's collision check hitbox is set slight forward. that's probably why the check finds the wall.
Grounded gun DAir right now is better than the normal DAir. The lack of variable force gives you consistent follow-ups at kill percent. Also normally when you hit a DAir when you have no dodge you don't get any follow-up that your opponent needs to dodge out of, grounded DAir has SAir everytime. Nix also has DAir chase dodge NSig as a confirmed string

to elaborate furthert on your point, the collider is 14×14 with an x offset of 10, the hurtbox has an x offset of 1
the second image has the estimated bad zone, i estimate its ~9×231 where the bottom forward corner of the zone kisses the lip of the hard collision
if we only consider cases where the bounce doesnt clear the ground and you hit the wall (where most ppl would probably say something went wrong) the zone shrinks to the bottom ~45u
edit: you might also consider extending the zone up by ~11u for a total of 56ish units since the hitbox would be burried inside the ground otherwise
the spear grounded dair resets all your options if you dair and fall off the stage, that needs to be corrected, and it also allows you to jump over attacks which is not healthy for the game especially with spear in its already overtuned state, if this change were to be considered spear would need some healthy nerfs before this go goes through

Which is weird because the grounded DAir has no variable force and it doesn't work on both 3 and 7 possibly for different reasons? or is it some rounding error

I think that the blaster dair grounded version isn't a good contribution to its kit in its current state.
Simply because it ruins all reads/dair attempts on maps that have platforms. On previous patches the dair hit no problem, but now platforms create a kind of "blaster dair" safe space, where it's not possible to hit the opponent cuz of the grounded version hitting the platform. This honestly could be fixed by having blasters only react like this to just the stage and not the platforms I think

Please change the ability to break frames and effectively TELEPORT DISTANCES AWAY by pressing dodge, jump and fall input almost at the same time, turning around, and repeating. It is fundamentally impossible for PC players to perform this without specialized key binds for everything that would mess combat up, yet I just had a controller player try to teach me how to do it while im on PC and I realized how broken of a gap in movement that is, and then my game crashed.
dashjump fastfalling is a standard thing everyone with a bit of experience knows how to do

It is hard enough to cramp my hand attempting to, and even when I slightly did get it down it was not to the same effect of a console player side by side, and that's if I can by chance do it in the first place. Even when I did get it, it was not teleporting me consistently. Also how can people go "teleporting is normal everyone knows how to do it" I have 2000 hours, im a decent player but not the sweatiest.
it's EASIER on pc dude. you just need to practice more. the only comparison you have is you (learning) vs your friend (knows).

I'm a pc player and yeah its easy when u catch how to do it (it's my technique):
1:
Press ➡️ and press the Dodge button while u're on stage to Dash in
2:
Release the previous button the 0.00001s after u used them (without being violent with ur pc lol, do it sweatly)
3:
Immidiatly press Jump and ⬇️ at the same time (ur finger should have pressur in the Jump button first and in the ⬇️ in the second time)
4:
Reapeat the step 2
Bonus:
It's at this very moment u can press Attacks/Dodge/throw.
Do it before ur brawler touch a stage if u want him to do an Air attack or a Gravity cancel.
The step 3 is hard to explain but easy to do show IRL:
It's like u put your finger straight ☝️on the floor verticaly ⬇️= the top of ur finger will touch the floor at the first time and then the plate sharme of ur finger will touch the floor horizontaly (if u dont want to broke ur finger xD):
Then on pc it's the same but instead of starting to press ur finger in the button straight and verticaly ⬆️❌️u put it horizontaly ⬅️✅️ and instead of letting ur finger falling down to this new position u do it with the muscle of ur finger like u move it as if u want to scrape / wiggle / tickle with your fingertip.

I think that the spear grounded dair shouldn’t do the little pogo on the ground UNLESS it hits someone. As a spear player I’m used to the aerial pogo moving my character forward ONLY when it hits, otherwise remaining in place. I feel like that should apply to the grounded version as well. Just have the legend plunge the spear into the ground on miss like greatsword grounded dair and only do the pogo thing on hit so that it doesn’t mess with muscle memory for normal aerial spear dair
As an Arcadia main, don't do this to yourself. There is a reason why the #2 rule of greatsword is never use grounded dair. If they did something like this to spear I would cry and switch to jaeyun (we don't need 1 more jaeyun player). I actually really like the grounded dair because the part of the move that bounces you is pretty short. I feel like you can throw out bigger hitboxes with it. However my playstyle for spear is nair 💀 so I may not be the best judge on that.
My idea still has the bounce for spear grounded dair, but only if you hit someone with it. On miss, the ground plunge aspect wouldn’t be as movement restricting as greatsword’s grounded dair because there wouldn’t be any follow up bridge moves. I just want it to be more consistent with the aerial version of spear dair, only bouncing when it hits someone.

Let me know if this is not the correct channel (I see the feedback channels, but all seem to be specific). I've been playing since Battle Pass 1 and would like to give some general feedback and suggestions for improvement.
In my opinion, the biggest issue I have with the game has been the introduction of emojis post-game, specifically the negative ones like the "thumbs down" and "clever" emojis. I think it's great to give players more options to communicate, but those communications should always encourage positivity. There is nothing worse for me than having a great game, an epic close match even, and then, when you lose (or win, it doesn't seem to matter), you get spammed with a "thumbs down."
I have young kids who also love to play, and it's always disappointing for them when they experience this negativity while trying to improve - to the point that they do not want to play online with others. I recognize that the emojis are already out there, but please keep in mind that positivity should always be basis with new features.
Perhaps, like Fortnite recently announced, there could be options for players to "hide" unwanted emojis. Let the negativity and 'griefing' happen post-game if it must, but players should have the option to avoid seeing it and having their experience negatively impacted.

grounded dair on blasters is very very fun to use. im a long time blasters main with like 300 combined legend levels on blasters. It gives dair more uses and as i said its very fun and smooth

I’m not sure I agree. Forced positivity would be swapping an intended “thumbs down” for a “heart” emoji. I’m not looking to censor anyone. If it’s important for someone to express themselves with a spammed "thumbs down" or "RIP" to feel good about themselves, they should go for it. However, there is no dialogue between players or indication that their emoji has been received. So, no foul either way. Disabling emojis or some emojis simply gives players more power to avoid toxic behavior post game if that is important to them, which it is for me and my young children who don't understand the negative behavior towards a game.
I’m not advocating for forced positivity, rather suggesting a way for neutral post-game communication. This isn’t about trivial complaints (which may seem trivial to you), but providing feedback for a game I love in channel designated for feedback. Thanks for the input, though.

Honestly, people have mastered it by years. Hold to dodge just removes a skill element in the game
If hold to dodge were to be added, it should be similar to the non optimal fast fall, with things like this. It should have a different visual and audio effect so it is known when the hold to dodge is used, it should have a longer cooldown when using it so if caught right afterwards you get punished longer for it, there should be some added end lag on the dodge so you can’t hold and wake up attack right out of it, maybe even make the iframes duration on the dodge shorter to incentivize not overly relying on that as a crutch to save yourself like platforms and weapon throws are now.
Also the person mentioning inescapable weapons must have had a typo they for spelled katars wrong four times.
Blaster Dair needs to be a lil more diagonal, its already not completely vertical so make it a little more diagnal and it will be a lot better
You should add it that you get harder bots based on how you dc, if you disconnect because of Internet turn it to hard bot, if you dc because of Xbox turn off turn it medium, and if you just plain disconnect just make the character not move at this point

I got placed in gold rank as I was gold last season and I started dropping rank until I was in silver or iron or whatever
And then I lost 22 games like the players in iron or whatever rank is right below gold shouldn’t be that good at the game nor should most of them have gold/diamond banners and max brawlhalla battle pass skins
I don’t know if it’s just me being bad but I’m pretty sure I’ve never struggled this bad in iron 🤷♂️
Maybe if you guys could take a look at who’s being loaded into which rank in ranked 1v1s
I've had the same problem with even being the rank BELOW silver (in 2v2s)! no matter what i'm doing, ranked or not, i get enemies in profoundly higher ranks who absolutely annihilate me. So i don't think it's a skill issue, the matchmaking is just iffy. Or those people have the same problem of enemies way higher rank/skill so sbmm puts them where you are since you both perform worse against way better enemies. I agree, Matchmaking is odd.
The reason i even got placed in that rank was because i would get plats and diamonds in my placements, so i only won 3/10 placements, and iirc two of those three were also plats/diamonds.

it already is a double edged sword. if you miss your weapon throw, you lose your weapon
also a decay is unnecessary given that weapon throws normally deal very little damage
Also for the weapon throws the hitboxes for each weapon show be viewable via training mode and as it is decrease the size of all of them across the board to the size of the hitbox of the missle for the Isaiah down blasters (not the explosion) the one on the missle.

sure its an interesting mechanic thats fun to mess around with that fits the general game, but i think it should be relegated to more casual/party gamemodes
the increase in damage is kinda meh in a vacuum but comes an issue when paired with bubble mechanic
and the bubble mechanic just by itself is such a massive punishment bc it removes the most fundamental and defining mechanic of the entire game which is movement

and i feel like with every wacky map and gadget we get that request is more and more justified bc they widen the gap between exp and ranked.. a lot of people like to play exp as a less sweaty ranked without the obvious punishment when losing
and i think having a more competitive exp might be better for everyone not just those players, that way new features can be tested a more ranked/tourney-like environment so their effect on the competitive scene can be more well understood

Animation for grounded dair on blasters and the spear dair are both very akward but functional. Gun dair should be tuned because it feels buggy to hit right now while grounded.
Spear should push you higher because it feels useless right now.

What I mean is if there is cooldowns it should be more than 5 seconds
#1, they already exist. On miss, you are not able to do anything for a certain number of frames which, is alot higher than light attack moves. #2, why is there a need for a cooldown for more than 5 seconds? this absolutely will kill the game. There is no reason for any idea of that significance to be implemented into the game. Signatures are apart of the game. And, if you face a "signature spammer" you should be able to win as they have a limited amount of moves. some legends have extremely big hitboxes which cover a large percentage of the map. Take, imugi side sig on gs. Now, thing about onyx dsig on cannon. Is there a reason for a 5 second cool down for that onyx sig? The answer is no. Take a look at professional players and ask yourself, why don't they sig spam. You'll find that they are easily punishable and light attacks are far better.
the "not able to do anything" isn't cooldown. it's endlag/recovery frames. cooldown does exist but is "not able to do the same move".

the same way u want to disable negative emotes, u could just disable post game chat and keep the emotes. its not to add both, and they could even add a parental control system like in xbox where you have to put a password/pin that only parents should know to change this kind of configurations, and then just disable post game chat and enable emotes. they should bring post game chat back and give the option to disable it like it has always been.
instead of keeping the battle pass missions, we could have a kind of "battle pass ranked" gamemode, like a normal 1v1 or 2v2 but you get the battle pass xp for each win. it would be harder to get more elo but you would get more xp the higher your elo (like the legend and account xp).
its funny cause I just had an epiphany for that last point exactly.
All of the console are now starting to integrate discord in addition to their own chat/social platforms yet we no longer have chat in-game. I've kind of developed this mindset where I just don't rematch console players for the simple fact that EVEN IF we have a good match, there will be no way for me to contact them outside of clans (which aren't even multi-platform). I've even discovered that players you cannot add using the feature in game are 9 times out of 10 console players. I understand that this server (and many others like it) have an LFG chat but why go through the trouble of using a third party when I could just use features that had already existed previously.
TL:DR -- Console have discord but in-game chat still doesn't exist anymore

Hey since I didn't really use experimental features I didn't know about grounded dair but after this patch I see an issue
i know this still in dev and not fully public but uh to whoever is working on walldodge found some potential issues: (number ref to the vids)
[1] the user accumulates more speed the longer they stay on the wall, making tall walls zip the user up extremely fast
[2] the user can ride downwards facing slopes
[3] upwards facing walls can boost the user up (extreme momentum issue exists in 7 too)
[4+5] a break in the wall (such as a steep upwards facing slope or pressure plate collision) makes the user jitter up and down; this depends on which type of dodge the user inputs and if the user is above or below the break
[6] ceilings give the user a seizure
[7] thin walls have funny behaviour; side dodge causes the user to go off the ground during the dodge and will throw the user up; up dodge gives the user an insane upwards momentum boost (this can happen on normal walls too if the user somehow becomes airborne during the dodge by leaving the wall as the user goes up or if the user misses the ground as they clear the ledge)
[7] the user can reverse the dash direction of down dodge if they hold out during the ascent (actually i kinda like this even if its not intended it shouldnt get changed)
[8] gamemode collisions when playing brawldown make the user go down in a weird way; this doesnt happen if the gamemode is stock or timed etc
[9] laser ouchie
[10] this might just be a side effect of how @wraith egret added this in but pressing dodge while not holding in makes the user ungrab the wall, this also applies to all wall dodge types when exp features are disabled (what we did was pass in the entity's wallstate when determining which dodge to pick and removed the check that prevents an entity from dodging if in the wallstate; did not modify any dodgetypes)

you can press out and then dodge but it has be frame perfect, otherwise youll lose your wallgrab state due to well not being on the wall anymore
this causes the user to zip up similarly to the thin wall and upslope cases
edit: holding up during the dodge makes you go insanly high, the vid here shows the case where you release the direction after frame 1

Skill issues, I played a plat 2 days ago I think,, and he complained abt me using 10 sigs in a five stock match, six of which hit him, two of which were bait, and two of which missed. Golds and bad players will always find something to complain about it is literally a skill issue
- That guy is just stupid and my reasons are far removed from whatever nonsense he's spouting
- Again, as a high to mid Plat player, regardless of whether I win or lose, I find sigspam annoying, and it seems that the large majority of players do too
The bubble thing is too goofy and doesnt fit. Try making a sticky bomb that lasts a lot longer is harder to doge and does more damage

The bubble bomb knockback(and damage maybe) doesnt work probably with jiro when hitting it with the up sig ability (with the scythe ),

tech-test update has severely reduced my performance actually, before the update i wouldn't really see any stutters or frameskips but now it's constant. for my 144hz monitor the game can't hold it steady, whereas before i was pulling 800fps+. i have the launch options set to [-framefix -setfps 144] so i don't think i did that wrong.

I have these constant lag spikes but it isnt just for the game, it lags my entire pc like every game i play it does it like 3 times and it has cost me so many stocks and games, its only online. I played it with every combination of tech test and vanilla game and it does it every single time. it will lag for a full 15 seconds at a time. Hi, I love the new UI and new character choosing images, looks awesome. But I really wish we could have an option to turn the yellow legend name off since I don't really want people to know what my main and weaknesses are, it's just a strategy thingy. I'd like to agree here, since the new update I noticed a drastic drop in frame consistency and I turned my fps on to see its being limited at 200. It definitely used to be 999, also the argument "good for some" is ridiculous, I want what we had.
I had switched my thing to -framefix and not -framefixunbounded, still I wish I could verify this with more than a claim, but I do feel that framefix is not entirely ready. If your desktop encounters any issues with rendering other applications brawlhalla will suffer. Having framefixunbounded acts as a buffer

Yes, I have it, I use Artemis lvl 2 for example, and the same happens, it doesn't show any level of the progressive skin if you see the video more carefully, it's like, it doesn't show the skins that aren't available rn since the bp3 well, clearly already ended a while ago

Hopped onto the game yesterday and all my presets (camera settings, collapse settings, name settings, team settings, legend drips and favorites) had been reset back to normal.
But I can see that it probably didn't affect your drip/load outs, so my advice would be check your settings again if you haven't

Yes, there are food in the game (from different games or just generic food, pizza, burgers, etc), each one regenerates a little amount, for example Kirby's Maxi tomatoes healt 50% of damage, theres another one (cant remember rn) that healt 100%, as well as peach with her final smash make peaches appear on the map to cure herself while the others are sleeping (secondary effect)

do something about bots. they will disregard their teammates if it means they'll hit you. they don't care if their teammate gets hit, receives great damage, receives more damage than the actual target, gets ko'ed or gets killed completely. as long as it hits you, they'll be fine with it
If a bot is on your team, they should be able to detect if you are attacking them currently, and predict the knock back, instead of just attacking the opponent in the middle or your attack

The snap dash distance reduction feels very sluggish, and is not very fun. Going back to slow, passive neutral isn’t fun. This feels almost the same as what the game was before snap dash was introduced. This is from the perspective of a high APM, reaction based playstyle. I can’t speak the same for other playstyles.
I think the reduction of snap dash distance is a godsend. Opponents are no longer "teleporting", game feels more bearable. Speaking as a casual player who is trying to bring some other people into the game I really wish it gets brought into the other modes in the future
snap dash distance reduction made the game a bit slower but i like it more that way, and im no neutral player i usually play very agressive and it being slower made it easier to punish those who play very safe imo

i like snapback reduction because as someone with above 50 ping i could never get any use out of snapback anyway, leaving the game into a teleportation fest where people with bad internet is a death sentence for above palt gameplay, although i have noticed much more passive neutral players. but in the end it feels much more plausible to mix up the appraoach so that they can't just keep spamming the superpower of snapback to just teleport out of the way of any approach. so more passive players, but its much less effective

yeah, my game will stay at the frame cap of 300fps the first couple of games im on and then randomly drop to like 80fps and stay there until I restart (5% cpu usage 10% gpu usage) so obv it's not the computer just wish they would fix the game already

whenever i spectate someone and exit to the main menu, the menu doesnt let me navigate any of the game options or use any buttons with my controller (wired ps5 on win11) except the middle button. the only way ive seen to undo this is to use my kb/mouse, or enter the store page and exit. this has been going on for months and its not game breaking but its kind of irritating and seems like a small qol patch shouldve fixed this half a year ago :c

I think the fast fall change makes fast falling easier in the short term but in the long term it hurts players movement
It's hard for me to determine whether I timed it correctly perhaps an little animation can be added to show it, but if I time in incorrectly without knowing my movement becomes sluggish and it messes me up.
At the least I'd propose having an option for having the assisted fast fall, same goes for hold to dodge.

Attack Decay basically insured spamming was not as effective in game.
After 3-4 times of landing the same attack spammed over and over again, the damage and knockback of the attack would be greatly decreased, prompting the spammer to do something else.

I tried the Challenge Preview yesterday. Fantastic! Love the way it's set up (I'm assuming the UI in & out of the stage is a work in progress, so I'm not worried about that). Love Lin Fei's dialogue. I truly feel like I'm being taught how to be better at Brawlhalla by the Teacher herself! It really stretches my painfully average skills. Very well done!
My one concern about the system is that it seems to kick out the player as soon as they successfully complete the tutorial. It feels great to clear one (party favors & all), but once I get it right once, I want to go right back in & practice it to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It feels unintuitive to have to go back in just to try the combos again.
I know there's training mode of course, but I do really like being able to see the list on the side of the screen & the check marks that show what I've done correctly, and it would be nice to be able to do it correctly again & again. Perhaps after the first time it's all cleared, there could be some Lin Fei dialogue congratulating the player, and then it keeps you in that same room so you can do it again over & over until you want to leave?
Just my two cents as a silver/gold player. Thanks for all you do, devs! I am consistently amazed at the great things you guys are adding to the game for all of us!

the information given by lin fei needs to be conveyed in a way besides a wall of text. most players will skip it, and young players who don't speak English (or any language with a translation) simply can't read it.

having a multilplayer waiting room can have a lot of challenges cuz this game uses a client server arch
basically youd need all clients and a server instance to be synced which is pretty resource intensive (also have you ever noticed how matches take 5 seconds to load, youd need those 5 seconds every time you started a queue)
the problem with extra queues is that either they'll take away from existing queues or they'd be dead

Do y'all know you can add a dummy bot in the lowest difficulty in custom games or connect a controller to be the dummy instead-
the lowest you can do in custom is pushover not dummy
I think a lot of people would be satisfied with just adding a dummy bot to customs and having it disable xp/gold rewards
like even without framestepping or bot control

not really an experimental feature, but please make the search option in the store better.
If i search for ex. "boots" only the battle boots weapon skins with the word "boots" in the name pops up instead of all boots weapon skins. (for example the adidas boots dont pop up since they are called "forum mid"). Same goes for all legend skins etc. Seems like an easy change to make, just put all weapon skins in categories for what weapon they are for.
please test the weapons before releasing them, every single new weapon comes to the game broken
m8. By that logic this game would have no weapons. Period. If weapons were tested/perfected before release then we should not have patch notes for any weapons. Besides it’s quicker to assess/adjust weapons by having more people play it instead of being limited to just the dev team

How much would the game change or benefit positively or negatively if legends had different hurt box sizes, say legends like teros as a Minotaur (also still needs a nerf despite being nerfed a bunch) would have a bigger hurt box. Cough cough* also Imugi to stop all the gold screeches out there

btw brawlhalla's input buffering is how they deal with input delay,but it sucks even more now because of how often you rollback now
input buffering is something present in every (good) game. it has nothing to do with dealing with input delay.

but theres some obvious things like not making a dair fast, fast recovery time and possibility to move around.
like, chakram dair is basically unpunishable, you gotta read a jump or a fast fall, this weapon is fater than sword, the only fair move is slight cuz of the high recovery time, if they tested the weapon just a little bit they would notice its too broken.
im not asking to release it perfectly balanced, but the last weapons we got came to the game completely broken (gs, battle boots and chakram now)
i think it would be great to add a test phase where the weapon is tested by pro players before releasing to the actual game ( you can say they do that in lans, but its for like 3 days and i dont think people who play new weapons in lans are going to give feedback, theyre just going to play for fun)
Smt around 2 weeks of testing before releasing would be great and the community would be happy

I beg give grounded spot dodge end lag so players can’t mash attacks and cover themselves at the end of the stage and punish you because the map size is so laughably big that any attempt to try and attack is so obviously telegraphed.

make it so every sig has like a lil dot before or where it hits so i can acctually tell what sig someones going to do like koji sword ds:)

Am I the only one who wants to slightly change stance system? by allowing you to choose what to stat upgrade and downgrade? some characters like ember have their best stance possible but others like Lucien will greatly benefit from it. I think it is worth adding to experimental to test it.
They should add a feature that if you share a weapon with someone if it’s thrown at you or just next to you then you should be able to pick it up and use it

props for the 9.05 patch notes changes, its by far the best balancing patch note I've seen so far, you addressed 2 out of the 3 biggest problems in the game, so 1st greatsword and you couldn't have done a better job balancing it imo, 2nd 2s characters power creep only missing on balancing kaya a little bit, 3rd one is imo 3 dex axe because of 9 atk teros and imugi, even though this balance patch was a work of art u guys created a monster (might have overdone it whit hammer) because 9 atk teros is undisputedly the best character in the game when the patch notes drop and imugi is imugi, so my advice for fixing this problem is just nerf a bit of recovery time on miss on a few moves and take away side light nair true combo ONLY ON 3 DEX AND BELOW! This makes it so teros is still very good but is more viable on 4 dex (7 atk not nearly as broken as 9 atk) Edit: I'm a blasters nix main so I'm eternally grateful to you for the buffs❤️

Wanted to share a little bit of feedback on the companions & QoL features for them. If we're going to have a designated slot for them, I feel we should have some of the same features other cosmetics have. More specifically, being given the ability to equip your companion on every single legend at once like you can with sidekicks. A slot for them in the inventory section wouldn't be a bad idea if it isn't already in development.

Why the fuck there's so many glitches while playing rank? I can't see when the players are dodging they simply appear like 4-5 frames have skipped and what's with the server issue? I play on the SEA server and have a very good internet connection yet sometimes ping drops to red. It's been happening on my mobile since the recent rank season update. What the fuck devlopers are doing? Why can't you pay some attention while releasing the update, mobile players struggle on its own but with these glitches the game is just too frustrating to play. @toxic linden

The meta post this last patch is awful; axes offer full 360 range, arguably way too much power, and swing at the speed of a blade. Same applies to hammer, aside from the first point, way too powerful for its dexterity. Teros, as the most obvious example, was already stacked is now even more efficient for low effort, high reward gameplay

Genuine question, what aspect of the game got mistaken for the necessity of hammer getting buffed? It’s already fast and arguably too powerful, and now… are we serious? I have the same exact feelings about the axe, but at least it isn’t this bad
tbf i addapt to dev changes. play about if the game is a better version good, but most of the games players are long term players, moddifying or reworking an aspect of the games core movement system ruins muscle memory and veterans of the game dislike this

maybe. all i know is before dash was even implemented/the reason we got a dash was because of the one tournamnet set years ago where one of the guys straight up made a twitter post mid match because no one could/would approach
Not dash but snap dash the mechanic where if you are above the stage close to the ground and press dash you snap down to it

so too slow = very passive but also too fast = very passive 😅

Yeah the problem I have with snap dash it that it makes catching landings extremely difficult, I'm not saying to remove it but imo it needs a bigger nerf. It also makes the game almost impossible to play at a high level of you have around 70-80 ping

Why BMG will not do customization of the player's start screen, I do not mean the frame, circle and kill line - I mean the very pose in which the character stands, IF IN THE GAME IS IMAGE RANDER TOOL (which is used only by youtubers to create previews for videos (and it is also very inconvenient and there are few options )) but if each player can freely customize the pose of the character, this game feature would be useful and players would be able to express themselves. -Rentane
