Image to video is pretty much a standard at this point. Despite Imagen 3 being one of the best image gen models out there currently, there are still some things you can't do with it, especially getting that certain cinematic flair that Midjourney has. The ability to upload images would be great for people like me who already have shots made (whether from another AI model or taken in real life) that need to be animated with Veo in order to finish our generate films

That was my thought as well, which brings up a very philosophical topic which I won't discuss rn as my brain is fried lmao. But essentially: if the AI is trained to film score just as us humans are, what's the difference between "human emotion/connection" in the film score and "AI music"? Like, next year, if a dedicated film scoring model composed a soundtrack and it weren't revealed to the audience, I'm sure most if not all of them wouldn't notice. So at that point, do we really need humans to use our "emotional relevance" to create soundtracks for media?

That's what worries me the most considering I was a musician before I was an AI enthusiast. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for GenAI in music as long as its for exploration, experimentation, augmentation, etc. but I really hope it doesn't kill the need for us entirely

there's no difference - because that connection is all in the mind of the listener. let's say you play a piece by bach to an audience of 100 people. every single one of them will react in a different way. some will be bored, some shed tears of joy, some will have other reactions. the music is identical for all of them, the music itself isn't what's having the effect - it's their brain that's reacting to the soundwaves their ears are picking up

it doesn't matter what tool is used, or even what the intention of the artist that used the tool was - what matters is how the observer reacts... and that reaction is going to be dictated from inside the observer, not the outside

But second, I think that a lot of movies are made by people who grew up watching movies and that's their life experience, that of a consumer/fan. And so they make movies with that life experience. Why would i ask for a feature from a dev team when we have the capabilities to do it ourselves? I'd never choose a platform over my own process, perhaps that's just me. Open Source is way more liberating than following a closed paywall guideline pipeline built on open source. When it ultimately comes down to it, if the model weights are not going to be open to public, then be as open as you can, allow flexibility so the model can truly be battle tested. I think its a bit more foundational then "following what everyone else does"
