My workflow involves having a good reference image first and starting with the skin tone and eyes before touching anything else (I'd say that eye shape makes or breaks a Zoi lookalike). I then edit the nose and lips, changing the actual face shape after I get those looking good. And this is just personal preference, but I make the Zoi bald so I can completely focus on the facial features. Getting the lighting close to the lighting in the reference image helps a bunch. And I make sure to jump between using Basic Editing and Detailed Editing for the front, 3/4, and side views of the face.

Not really sure if these tips are good for "hyper realistic Zois", but they work for me when making Zois of other people!

@tranquil jay Doing what I said, I was able to get a good start on a Zoi based on Watanabe Mayu. There are definitely things I can edit to make the resemblance better (mostly just changing the colors of certain features), but I got this far within just an hour of work!

Weird... after a talk between the parents, there was a family event planned in Clover Park (never seen an event appear for every one of the family at once !)... But here's what is weird. My son had to go to school since this was a friday... his school day got removed and there was no way to add it back.

I think to add a new family member you need to play with the zoi that is the leader of the household. The first that shows in the list. But I have never tried to add any family members before. But I know my other household members are not allow to locked the doors in the house only the main household member.

You need to make sure you have the animals bars activated to the highest so you can see many of them around the city. Also make sure you have cats selected in the animal population 🙂

try to put it back, if it went poof when placing a house on a lot it was prob sticking out to far. if the roof is still not working, then the walls are on the edge of also going poof, and windows and stuff also prob got yeeted for being out of bounds for the lot..

roofs stick out at least half a square beyond the walls, and doors need 2 squares beyond.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but I believe the process is "edit city", choose new location, go back to the family, choose "relocate"

but i realized that there are 2 different aging options, one that disables aging for your zois and one for all others.

and here is my question, does the "my zois" option also count for zois you created but currently not playing with (other family) or do they fall under the all others option then?

what I do is i just disable the aging for both categories because zois ages way too fast. I only turn them on when I am ready to progress my zois to the next age group.

I have 4 different families because my first household have expanded. I visit the grandparents from time to time. I also created another family so my young zois would have their group of friends I can also relate to.

in the former hot fix, 0.1.6 I tried a thicker second floor by raising the floor, and when I went to put railings around the stairs, everything in the room fell through the floor onto the ceiling below, so it was all half sticking out of the raised floor. haven't tried it in this hot fix yet. I suspect it's related to the drying board falling through the counter onto the floor whenever you do something to walls, that still happens.

don't think that's supposed to happen, select may be bugged out if nothing glows that you can interact with (save-as, exit game, then click 'play' on the steam app may help) alt-tabbing out of the game a few times causes it sometimes, or the baby may be in a location no one can get to, think there is a psycat help thing for that in the game (I've never used that).
1 Open the Psycat Guide.
2 Select Emergency Rescue.
3 Click the Zoi that’s stuck in one spot.

I've noticed my zoi set things down on a desk, and because the front is full the item auto-slides to the back, then the zoi can only get to it by reaching through the wall behind the desk. something like that may have happened to the baby, possibly. I'm only guessing, I've never had my zoi get stuck, others have.

I only know of 2, one closer to town is small, but next to the subway, the larger is an in-game hour walk to the subway. S3 is not S5 for sure, I haven't looked at the others as they just apartments I think.

I've fit a S3 by S2 house on that lot, has a smidgen more room, yet I don't thing a S3 square will fit.

I've been trying to make this hole in the floor for about 4 hours straight. I discovered that the floor upstairs is separate from the ceiling downstairs. To make the hole, I had to remove the ceiling downstairs, and I still can't fit the ladder in.

it needs work for sure, am surprised the steps don't make their own openings in the floor/ceiling? due to not being able to stack steps like normal stairwells, I haven't fussed with making huge atriums. I do encourage you to add your ideas to feedback, hopefully the devs make steps a bit less painful to use.

Has anyone had issues of Zois not going to their home ? I've tried Calling Zois and the Emergency Rescue but I keep getting ' Cannot Move here ' or ' You cannot call another Zoi during Special Actions ' even though they're not doing anything

yeah, that sounds like something to report bug. happened to me with my first house that was more than 1 step up off the ground and the zoi couldn't enter the house without a step-master entrance, yet it never said my zoi was doing anything else, just that she couldn't walk to the location in the house I selected.

going by what other people described, I think you have to go into the city editor and move NPC fams around there (I don't know how), and if you don't have your zoi interact with them frequently they NPC may just vanish from the game. ye may also be able to schedule events, yet thats dependent on them being available. it may be possible to ad them to your household, yet I don't know if thats possible or how.

the game don't appear to do independent floor zones, they are tied to the location of walls/railings, so my only guess is open doorframes, and that's a bit meh without wider ones. or go to outdoors tab then down in the floor panels section and add wood decking possibly.

The holes made on the second and third floors are exactly the same, the stairs fit perfectly from the ground floor to the second floor, but not from the second to the third. I have tried a few times to make split stairs, something like circular stairs, but there are a LOT of limitations to being able to do something like that, or at least something that is minimally similar. I have COUNTLESS design ideas for countless buildings, but the limitations of the stairs break me every time. 💔

I can think of a many reasons a zoi path code will refuse to use steps, if there is no floor at the top of them (first floor ceiling yet no walls/railings put up so no floor spawned in on the second floor), something is in the collision zone for the steps, or the steps are just bugged and need to be removed and put back.

oh, and do a "save as" before doing house builds, so you have a save to go back to if something messes up. Saves some grief if gifts vanish as well.

Is there an option that can turn OFF the feature that automatically speeds up game time if all Zois in a household are sleeping? I don't always immediately realize it's happening because everyone is still and before I know it, a bunch of time passed while I'm switching between the zois trying to see what urges they have or something. It is so frustrating when that happens as soon as I switch to one house because I have Zois in other locations that I want to go and check on too but the game wipes all the time away that I could have had them doing things before whatever scheduled event they have come up. I’m curious if Inzoi would be a good fit for the kind of experience I’m looking for. I work from home and I like having a game in the background that feels alive—where I can just watch people go about their daily routines, walking around, interacting, etc., without needing to do much myself.
I’ve enjoyed that feeling in games like Final Fantasy XIV (just watching people in towns), Animal Crossing, and Schedule I.

Would you say Inzoi offers that kind of vibe? Can I leave it running and just watch the world go by in a chill, immersive way?

while it's fun to watch zois walk around the park and talk all on auto-pilot, the game does need a bit more attention than the desktop pet thing (pocket Waifu) that you can have do something then mostly ignore for an hour or more. at min there are health stats to keep an eye on. think out of 2 hours of testing a house layout, 30 min the zoi is in the park on her own. they don't always eat when hungry, and often the meal isn't enough.

I have about a minute of available time between my work duties, which can last anywhere from 3 min to up to an hour. let me explain lol, i work as an interpreter, so i receive calls that last anywhere from 3 minutes to up to an hour. I can still keep an eye on the zoi, but there might be moments in which i can't really pay attention to them. Is there a pause button?

Well, I sort of wanted to have the best of both worlds.
Something I liked about FFXIV is that, while there are quests and activities to do on my free time, I could also just watch people roleplay and move around. There were some cities very crowded with people, and I really enjoyed that.
Another example is Cyberpunk. There were times in which the NPCs would even start partying on the streets and such.
Or in Yakuza or Shenmue, in which NPCs would even start fighting or playing arcade games, you know, just "living" their lives

Honestly, I’m not sure if Inzoi would work for what you’re looking for The early access just launched and right now the zois’ autonomy isn’t polished enough for you to step away and watch other zois roaming around or doing things, your zoi will probably end up getting into trouble, you’ll need to keep an eye on it. Maybe in the future, if they improve autonomy so they’re smarter about taking care of themselves, it could be worth considering

the requirements for auto-zoi (rrr, smart-zoi) are steep, it's more than just how much system memory the PC has. without auto-zoi it's a bit less but not that much less. Nvidia RTX graphics card is recommended over AMD/intel, there is stuff that just don't function (can't enable) without it.

You still get to have the ceremony. But for some odd reason they live together before the ceremony. At first I thought it was a bug but it happened with my zoi second wedding as well. I have seen gameplays where they don’t move in after the ceremony. So I think it might be a bug or if the zoi doesn’t live in the city the game forcefully move it to the city by placing it into your house. That’s just my theory.

Smart zoi is only their thoughts and auto zoi is them doing things on their own. If you disable auto zoi you will have complete control and they will do whatever you want them to. If you disable Smart zoi they will just stop having random thoughts produce by the prompt (personality) you gave them.

that is as much GPU lighting/shadow settings, as it's tedious surface settings, sorry I don't have an answer. after over a decade of fussing with 3D stuff in 3delight/RenderMan, I just go with presets and move on. maybe someone will have a hair color mod set that does what we want, one can hope.

Temporal Anti-Aliasing, the Temporal part is using former frames to look for edges, hence the ghosting. FSAA was current frame only, never had ghosting, but the smooth angle edges was a bit less good with it (but it would run on a GeForce FX5200 at 8X sampling, lol).

Does anyone know what folder custom accessories are saved in? I reinstalled inzoi and moved everything back from my backup and everything is there (including custom 3D furniture I downloaded) except the custom accessories!

It won’t even let me go into canvas and redownload them cause it’s showing as already downloaded. I have them in my saved outfit presets but they’re not showing under custom accessories.

I fear the only way to get them back will be to add them to my characters, upload them back to canvas and redownload.

Edit: Disregard, just found it’s under custom data! I moved that folder back on and all the accessories are back.

Got married to an NPC but she didn’t join my household. She's not listed in my family, and there's no way to call her over, invite her, or manage her at all.
It’s like she’s still a normal NPC — I can’t interact with her as a spouse beyond casual interactions, and she doesn’t live with me.
There was no prompt to merge households during the wedding, and now there's no way to fix it.

draw distance maybe, never had it set very low, so not sure if that's it. is like 3 different draw distance settings for different stuff. That or Anti-Aliasing is messing with the ultra thin elements of the beard, I recall DLSS also doing that to power lines and fences way back in a Gamers Nexus vid (RTX20 launch stuff).

I'd turn off dlss but I am unsure what setting it is as some of the settings are in another language where as others are in English and I think the dlss setting is one of the different language ones, if all your settings are in english would you be willing to show me a screenshot of the graphics so I know what is what...? Anyway, TAA may also be making the hair vanish.

it's almost looks like it's only rendering a quarter of the pixels, then hoping screen-fuzzing will make it ok.

only fix I can think of, is revert to a pree RT game engine, and deal with all the other looks limitations older engines had, not something an end user can do at all.

even the shadow maps in shaded areas look like there 8088 CGA dithered shading rather than 8 bit grayscale shading

i beleive it will improve with time DLAA does a great job cleaning up aliasing on edges, but it doesn’t fix how shadows are generated. inZOI is still in early access, so the shadow system itself is likely using lower res shadow maps or placeholder lighting. That’s why you’ll still see weird fuzziness or harsh cutoff lines on fur and soft surfaces. Totally normal at this stage once lighting and shader passes get finalized, it should look way smoother! 💡

I think this is a bug, but wanted to verify. Apologies if this is the wrong place to post: For a second time this week, I had Zois “disappear or die from the game” with no trace from 2 households. I was playing another family and when I went back to the other families, Zois were gone or died. I checked Souls and not seeing them there and checked all other lots, and families in maps. They are just gone.

Someone mentioned that “I think you have to interact with zoi's more than once a week or they go poof. your not the only one to be missing zois from their game that were forgotten about till after they went poof. one person, it was a zoi NPC their zoi liked, just waited to long to do anything with them.”

I have to hope this is a bug that will be fixed because I cannot image this having many happy fans with if this is the process. We take a long time to craft Zois and Zoi Families. If you play multiple households in the same save file (as I do) then go back to a family and one or all are gone, is not good. There should be an option (similar to pause story progession in the Sims) so that the Zois could handle their basic needs but no divorces, deaths, or marriages, babies, etc without our intervention. That way we could enable or disable as we please.

And it isn’t even like we have the option to save them in a different save file and port them back over to the save file we want.

I think you have to get the zois within a few meter or something, or the entire date stuff just don't happen, and even then, early access with much to still add I guess.
