To the best I can. I try to only shoot the dealer when possible, give the gun to the dealer on 7-8 shell games, cell phone only with 2-3 shells left. I don't know what else to do to increase my odds.

Probably the only improvements are figuring out more specific strategies. Otherwise, you'd just have to keep up the grind. Plenty of factors are up to RNG and out of your control, so sometimes there are moments where you just lose even with perfect play.

- General rule is to not self shoot, even if there's a high ratio of blank shells. You do not "skip the Dealer's turn" when you fire at yourself, instead consider it as giving him an extra chance for damage. The more shots fired at you, the higher chance you're taking the bullet. Delightful Kissboy had made a pretty good guide about it, as well as a few examples where you in fact do want to self-shoot.
- Learn the best ways to use items. For example, make use of Adrenaline to steal Dealer's powerful items like the saw (then opening fire, no big deal if it's blank) or cigarettes (even if you're at full, still better than him healing). Handcuffs on low shell counts to fire off as many lives as there may be in there.
- With enough experience, you should be able to get through the first 3 rounds consistently fast, at least 32,000 score afterwards. That'll become 1 million after 15 more rounds, which is fairly important since less rounds you need to clear, the less chances you'll have to lose the run.

This is straight up false. In story mode, beer and cigarettes lower your score as well as dying. But in Double or Nothing, the only thing that matters is how fast you can clear the rounds. After the first 3 rounds, subsequent scores are simply double from whatever you currently have through each set.
Whether you shoot a live or a blank shot has no effect on the score in any situation.

The Dealer isn't awful, just a note to not come in underestimating him. He'll always self-shoot in a high blank ratio, but fire at you when there's more lives, and he uses his items whenever possible and to a pretty decent effectiveness.

I know people have gotten a good bit over 1 million points legitimately, but some used some cheats to get so high the number's broken in some manner, if not just absurdly high to the point of being impossibly lucky.

So it seems like you posted the screenshot on the Reddit fan page and it confirmed my suspicions. 136 shells ejected in 51 rounds is pretty much only possible if someone used mods or discovered a bug that could see the sequences. I get that it's cool to see the number go up, but it actually really counts when done completely vanilla: no mods, no cheating.

Yeah if you get a 4-charge round, it's basically over, unless you have 2 handsaws and cuffs (or perhaps a steal or perhaps if the dealer loses meds and then shoots himself). And even then, 57k is getting close to the upper bound of speed. Doable, but definitely extreme luck required.

That's why it's so hard getting to a billion+. Even at expert play, there's still a chance of encountering a do-or-die 50/50, and for 48 rounds, odds are you'll get it at least a few times. Just 12.5% chance of continuing if 3 times. 6.25% for four times. Etc.

Just getting the 2 HP for every round is difficult, with then a high dependence on handcuffs and for the dealer not to have cigarettes. What can slow things down ironically enough is a low shell count if you don't have an inverter. Would pretty much guarantee a second item load out, which takes like another 20 seconds. Of course, one could hit the dealer twice in a row on 3 or rarely 4 charges, but you'd definitely need cuffs and a handsaw (or two handsaws and the handsaw has it's own unique 5 second animation after the fact). So many variables have to align together, in addition to getting lucky on the live/blank shots.

This is specifically related to the older versions of Double or Nothing, while the money you get now is based on time, it used to be random, and i think it was like only 25% of runs could hit 500k and 1mil without having to do an extra round? so the community voted to lower them to 400k and 800k to lower runs lost to that particular rng. I believe this is also specifically a reason Mike changed it in the new DON because he commented in the speedrunning discord he didnt believe it was fair those runs were lost to rng and i think thats why he switched it to time

one thing I noticed that was interesting was you taking beer at the beginning for a speedrun. It worked out for you this run but usually I almost never use it unless there are like 3 or less rounds when speedrunning.
I believe the best strategy for getting high 57k and above would be to take high risks for round 1, essentially use the bare minimum required with luck. So typically handcuffs for 2 health or handcuffs and 1 saw for 3 health. Possibly using an inverter if the odds are far in the favor.
Round 2 should be medium risk, possibly using a magnifying.
Round 3 if on a good pace should use magnifying to help secure the win.
I usually reset if I can't kill him in 2 shots unless I can get the dealer to kill himself without much delay in him using Items.
It's almost never worth continuing the run if he has 4hp or if there is a restock of Items after using all the bullets. It kills so much time for adding items and him reloading the gun.
I aim for 1 minute for Round 1. 1 minute and 10 seconds for completing Round 2. And 1 minute and 10 seconds to complete Round 3 (there is also a 30 or so second delay after Round 3 until black screen of the briefcase added on)

Yeah, the reloads suck up so much time; I aim to minimize those at all costs, unless the first loadout is extremely quick, which I felt was indeed the case in the second round. The handsaw also has its own 5-second ending animation, which is why I'd prefer not using it unless absolutely necessary. Ultimately, that second round is what killed the 57k+ for me. It's just so hard getting three 2-charge rounds in a row, lol.
On the first round, I just simply took a random guess that the first one would be blank, and it paid off. 😅 Upping the odds of the second shell being live and then using the magnifying glass to resolve the 50:50. Another thing that kills runs is cigarettes. If you don't get the cuffs and he can heal without risk, the run is basically dead. I'd hope instead he'd have the pills, especially on a 3+ charge round, where he could be shot, take the pills (and lose), and then shoot himself.
I have reset so many times at this point; it's not even funny. Sometimes the game even crashed, lol.
After watching again and counting, there were 35 extra seconds that were left on the table for the second round, starting after I shot myself with a blank on the first sequence and ending once the dealer is shot with the handsaw on the next sequence, with an additional 3 seconds tacked on for the ending handsaw animation. So if that round was a 2-charge round with cuffs and an inverter, I would have likely had 3 minutes and 28 seconds...

If you have to take a random guess always take the option which takes the least amount of time. If you're right the pay off is better, if you're wrong it will be quicker to start a new run.
Hypothetical say you have handcuffs inverter and beer, 1-2 for the bullets, 2hp. The quickest way is to handcuff shoot, invert shoot. If the first round hits you can guarantee the win. If it misses you can quickly reset the run. Using a beer to guess and maybe improve your odds isnt worth it for speedrunning, it will guarantee to eat time which you're trying to avoid.
I don't think the benefit of slightly improving your odds is worth the time loss (unless it's the third round and you're on a great pace)
And in this example the beer will have more of an impact compared to having a higher bullet count

Also, I feel your pain. I probably have around 500 attempts under my belt. It's just so difficult to get all 3 rounds perfect. I did once get 2 to absolute perfection, but then the third completely screwed me over with 4 charges and like no bullets.

Nice! Those numbers indicate that you started with a very good score as well (47,696). Anything above 30,000 in that first 3-round gauntlet is good and above 40,000 is great! Keep at it, and you'll soon hit 1 million! (There's a Steam achievement for banking (and losing) at that milestone)

Just submitted a run for the 100k category. 10 minutes and 30 seconds (and 300 ms). The game was going nearly perfect until I hit the transition round on the 2nd gauntlet, which took a whole 2 minutes to complete. If that didn't occur, I might have had a chance at the top. 8 min, 42 seconds is the current WR in that category. This run at least would get me into 2nd. Granted there's only around half a dozen submissions, lol.

I used a bug called Vellon's Skip/Glitch which allows me to 1 shot the dealer, the video uncut is actually 3 hours+ long. I only included the parts where I got the money and cut the rest. There was a actually VERY LOW PROBABILITY occurance (not a bug) were ONLY magnifying glasses would be spawning for the dealer then only magnifying glasses, hand saws, reverters, handcuffs and adrenaline would spawn on mine (you can check the video at the 1:39 mark for proof). So pretty much for example if I ran out of magnifying glasses, I can just steal from the dealer. I grinded up until I can only got that setup which took me about 15 minutes until I got that item setup. The dealer can get up to 8 magnifying glasses. So in line with the vellon's skip and the item spawning probablity, I can pretty much one shot him almost always. I stopped at Round 153 because it got scary that I was not getting adrenaline and I could potentially not get a hand saw (because if he has 4 health I can't one shot him without the saw) and magnifying glass on the next round which would give him a chance to 1 shot me if I missed with a blank shot + this was farthest anyone has gotten in the world. So yes, it would be false if I did it vanilla, technically. It's also a feature with the item spawnage. Mike patched this so you can't do it now with the vellon skip.

I got another answer this time. I forgot how I got the first and second answers but I'm sure this is the right one.
I did 1/5 (the chances of getting 5 items for each loadout), which is 0.2 or 20%. Then, I did 1/9 since there are 9 items. This gives me 0.11111111111, or 11.1111111111% Finally, I did 0.2 x 0.11111111111. This gave me 0.02222222222 or 2.2222222222%.
